Sequel to Whiskey and WrySinners Series: Book Three Lieutenant Connor Morgan of SFPD’s SWAT division wasn’t looking for love. Especially not in a man. His life plan didn’t include one Forest Ackerman, a brown-eyed, blond drummer who’s as sexy as he is trouble. His family depends on him to be like his father, a solid pillar of strength who’ll one day lead the Morgan clan. No, Connor has everything … clan.
No, Connor has everything worked out–a career in law enforcement, a nice house, and a family. Instead, he finds a murdered man while on a drug raid and loses his heart comforting the man’s adopted son. It wasn’t like he’d never thought about men — it’s just loving one doesn’t fit into his plans.
Forest Ackerman certainly doesn’t need to be lusting after a straight cop, even if Connor Morgan is everywhere he looks, especially after Frank’s death. He’s just talked himself out of lusting for the brawny cop when his coffee shop becomes a war zone and Connor Morgan steps in to save him.
Whoever killed his father seems intent on Forest joining him in the afterlife. As the killer moves closer to achieving his goal, Forest tangles with Connor Morgan and is left wondering what he’ll lose first–his life or his heart.

This entire series is fast paced suspenseful marathon! Each couple goes through trying times to be together. This is Connor’s story. Being straight and never even thinking about men, Connor is thrown for a loop when he is attracted to a gorgeous young man at first sight. What was different this time was how he handled his issues and went to his family for help. Can I have Brigid and Donal as my second set of parents, pretty please!? I really enjoyed reading his inner thoughts and how he came to accept and embrace his feelings for Forest Ackerman, drummer extraordinaire.
Forest, my dear sweet boy. You can’t catch a break as life throws you lemons, but you make mean lemonade out of them. Good for you! I so wanted happiness for him. Unlike the other two musicians who entered the Morgan clan, Forest took in all of Brigid’s love like a flower soaking in the morning sun. I loved how he was with her. He needed so much love to erase all the crap that he was put through that I didn’t begrudge the immediate connection he forged with Connor and his family.
While the carnage of body parts was gross and plentiful, I liked the mystery and the intense worry it produced while reading it. In the end the bad guy was a bit out of left field but tied nicely with the story. Good stuff, as always.
Oh, my goodness gracious! Rhys Ford stopped my heart for a few crucial seconds when I realized the subject of this incredible third book of the Sinners Series! Lieutenant Connor Morgan, of the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics’ division, is in love… with a guy! For those who’ve read the first two books of the series, it is painfully clear that Connor is the heir apparent for the role of patriarch in the Morgan family. With two sons having interests in other men, he’s taken on the expectation of having a wife and children of his own. However, life can throw ANYONE a curveball but it seems Connor has nothing to worry about from his loving and accepting family and this includes the father he expected to emulate. But loving drummer Forest Ackerman comes with some risks as it seems someone is determined to kill him and anyone who cares for him. Forest Ackerman has a sad and sorry past made worse by the fact that his mother is in his life, and his experiences are heartbreaking. Prepare to shed tears with this one, folks. His relationship with his truly awful mother is balanced by the genuine care and love he finds with a music studio-owning hippy. But then he loses this wonderful man to the murder and he himself is at risk for violence and death. Good thing he finds a place in the Morgan family and in the new band Miki and Damien are forming. I listened to Tequila Mockingbird, Sinners Series Book 3 on an audiobook that Tristan James narrates exceptionally. He’s capable of grit with a hard edge but manages softer sounds for female as well as male characters. And he has different Irish accents for all of them folks! Wow, what talent!
