“And I was going to take my one magical night higher, farther, faster, and for as long as I could make it before reality traded in my glass slippers for combat boots and my ballgown for a bomber jacket in the morning.”
I love the concept of a book series based on favorite country songs. It just so happens that I’ve listened to Tequila by Dan & Shay many times and could not stop hearing it in my head every time the characters mentioned drinking it and the jokes that followed.
The pilot and the park ranger had a memorable night together. So memorable that 6 years later they were still thinking about each other. Though they never thought they’d actually see each other again. So, it was a surprise when she discovered he still lived in Colorado. It was almost like her rental car drove itself, without her making a conscious decision to go there.
This time she didn’t have her girlfriend there to warn her of “Ranger Danger!” and he’d given up drinking Tequila after she left. What was it gonna take to soften him up towards her? She was afraid to tell him what had brought her back, worried that he would turn her away. She could tell that he was still attracted to her, but he was fighting it. He didn’t trust her.
In the midst of all her emotional turmoil over her feelings for him she was thrown into a crisis she couldn’t ignore. Her training came in handy and they worked together to rescue people in the incredibly dangerous and life-threatening floodwaters. They gained a new respect for each other that just made their attraction even stronger.
I was a nervous wreck waiting for her to admit what she’d been keeping from him. Even though I knew in the back of my head I was reading a romance novel, I couldn’t help being anxious about his reaction. I kinda have a girl crush on her, and I didn’t him rejecting my girl, you know? She’d worked so hard and come so far.
I was totally invested in the rescue drama as it played out. Hanging on the edge as I waited and worried about the victims. Excited every time someone was saved. This story is the whole package. Sweet, sexy, and suspenseful. I enjoyed the hell out of it and can’t wait to learn what the next country song will be. The line forms here…
“I never expected for twelve-thousand feet to change me in this way—to start my heart rather than stop it.”
What happens when an Air Force pilot meets a park ranger? What if we put several doses of tequila into the equation, explosive chemistry and a date with the stars as witness? Falling in love will be inevitable. But the happy ending will not be guaranteed.
Shay just graduated from the Academy. Being a pilot has always been her dream. Everything she endured and gave up finally got her recognition. Nothing can stop her. The sky is the limit. Her mantra, “higher, farther, faster” is what guides her.
Logan has had several homes in recent years, but is now in Colorado. Seeking to remedy past mistakes, he lives by some rules: don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat.
When they meet, Shay has just graduated and has to leave soon. But she doesn’t tell him who she is or what she does. And so, after a beautiful night, she disappears. Until six years later, fate and a flood decide to reunite them.
With the mountains and beautiful landscapes of Colorado shrouded in water, rather than solving personal problems, these two have a hard work to go rescuing the needy. And in extreme situations, in the midst of total destruction, a near-death experience will draw them closer.
The reading is fluid, the book is relatively short, Logan has the potential to be your next crush, and Shay is Wonder Woman in the flesh. A different and enjoyable read.

I just absolutly love love this story. Ms. Sharp has gone above and beyond with this story. We get to met Shay and she is a strong heroine but when she meets Alpha Logan and the sparks just fly up into the sky..Higher. Farther. Faster.
Sharp gives is a brillently written story that goes along with her love of country music. First one up is the song Tequila and when Logan dubs Shay his tequila girl it just makes this story that much better.
This story is a fast paced story of when Shay and Logan meet and spark fly for one night and then we skip ahead a few years and their paths run across each other again. But things are not so simple, lies or ommisions of truth have been said, mistakes come to light, floods and so much more. The emotioal pull this story has will tug at your heartstrings at times.
So well written, leaves you wanting more.
Truly inspiring, Tequila is a book about fighting to be the best, commitment to change the world, suffering for your errors, love and redemption. Shay Covington is the best fighter pilot in her Air Force graduating class and tonight calls for a celebration. She meets a mountain of a man, Park Ranger Logan Daniels, and they share tequilas and the best night of her life. She leaves without a word, and Logan is devastated. For six long years, he tries to shut her out of his mind and never has another Tequila. Shay’s tour of duty in the Air Force came crashing down and the need to escape drives her back to Ranger Logan. He makes it clear how much she hurt him and doesn’t know if they have a future together. When a catastrophe in the town consumes their every waking moment, Logan and Shay work together, committed to saving every last person in the disaster. Shay has kept a self-inflicted, brutal secret, but now might be the time to open her heart and trust Logan with her life. This story is beautifully structured with a solid pace that moves you through the plot alongside the memorable cast of characters. An inspiring story, indeed!
5 PLAY THAT SONG AGAIN STARS!! Wow….taking a country song and writing story that I want to keep playing over and over again. Shay and Logan had me from the first word to the last word. Their story was so addicting I can’t get it out of my head. Rebecca Sharp is one of the most talented author I have ever read….her words are like gold they will keep shining for years to come.
This song brings so many happy memories in my life that when I saw a story based on it, I couldn’t pass the opportunity to read it!
When they taste tequila it leads to one night that no one can ever forget. Shay and Logan meet and have a wonderful night that ends at that night. Shay goes on and continues her military career establishing herself and a leader in a mans world.
Logan continues his career as a ranger. Both never forget that night or each other. Six years later they are in each other’s life cycle and their song to a second dance is a beautiful story.
I loved these characters so hard. They were real, mature and strong. This author makes you want to have these characters as your friends. Original, witty and well written. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
Shay and Logan were a hit! I could not stop loving these characters. Tequila is a small town romance! I was gitty from the beginning. There was some angst that had me feeling like I was on the edge for the most part. But when the two characters stopped being so stubborn, we found that there was more work and more time that needed to be invested. There was a few times I was not sure what will happen next. The author surely kept me on my toes. Great read that I will be revisiting. I cannot wait for more!
A sweet romantic story with a beautiful message! Reminding us that, “Real heroes make mistakes. Real heroes pick themselves back up and keep going because who they are meant to be is greater than the mistakes they’ve made.”
As a female Air Force fighter pilot, Shay has spent a lifetime fighting against odds to prove she is worthy, to prove to all girls that you can do anything you want.
She followed every rule, living by a rigid code to reach her goals.
“Higher, farther, faster”
One night she let it all go, just to be a girl, a human without expectations or rules. That’s when she met him.
“Even his voice sounded like it was made from a mountain, all rocky and strong.”
All she allowed herself is, “One tequila. One dance. One kiss. One night.”
As a park ranger in the Estes National Park, Logan, loves his job and he’s good at it. But it wasn’t always that way. He’s really there to right some wrongs.
Logan and Shay both live by rules with high expectations. Expectations that will teach them life lessons. It’s what they do with those lessons that will define them. But when Shay hits a bump in the road and loses everything she’s worked for, she’s knocked for a loop. She finds herself back in the one place she never thought she would go.
“When the moment came- the one where I flew too high and scorched the tips of my wings against the sun- I fell back down here, in Colorado, hoping he would catch me.”
They both knew that one night they had was something special, something neither could ignore, but she just walked away. Logan wasn’t ready to accept her back, she’d hurt him and he wasn’t willing to trust again. Especially knowing once the storm was gone, she would be too.
“Trusting her would put him back into the same position he was the night they meet. Where I’d loose someone I hadn’t realized I needed.”
Before these two can resolve their relationship, they need to work on themselves. Turns out Logan has some ghosts to face as well. They will have to face their issues, forgive themselves and understand what real heroes are.
Very entertaining story! Well written with a sense of humor!
I read and ARC of this book. My fair and honest review is voluntary.
I have found a new author to love. This is the first book I have read by Rebecca Sharp and won’t be the last. Shay is a very career focused woman, her dream is to fly jets in the military. Not the easy road in a very male dominated profession but she is committed. On graduation night, she joins her friends at the local bar and never expects to meet Logan. Knowing she leaves the next day, she allows herself to enjoy one night at 11,000 feet with Logan. Logan loves to work the land and has moved around to different national parks but his one night with the captivating Shay has him staying in Colorado even with a broken heart. The last thing he expects is to rescue Shay off the mountain 6 years later during one of the worst rain storms the area has ever seen. With no way to get her off the mountain, they find themselves sharing his home and working together to rescue stranded residents. Through this intense tragedy, will these two find forgiveness and love? I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Tequila was a fast paced, fun, steamy novel and I enjoyed it. This second chance romance held my interest from start to finish as it had me drawn in to the story. With suspense, passion, and heartache this novel between the strong independent pilot and the charming sensitive park ranger will hold your interest. It was an intriguing read and I would recommend it to all lovers of contemporary romance.
And A Half Stars
Maybe it was the title of the book or maybe it was the blurb, all I know is that when an opportunity to read an ARC of it, presented itself, I took it. Shay is an incredible character, not only is she a gorgeous woman filled with sass and spark, she’s a kick *ss fighter pilot. The woman is on fire. However, an unfortunate incident forces her to take stock of her life and her choices. Logan is a sexy alpha male with a side of sweetness. He wears his heart on his sleeve and you can’t help crushing on him from the very beginning. Although their first meeting was meant to be, their relationship was not – yet. So when their second chance at forever presented itself it made for a wonderful happily ever after. I look forward to reading more by this awesome author and if you haven’t read anything by her then this should most definitely be your first.
Dr. Rebecca Sharp is a new to me author but the blurb (and the cover) of this book really intrigued me, so I decided to give Tequila a shot (ha! No pun intended). I liked the premise of the story and being a spouse of a former Air Force airman who was in the fighter community for a few years, I had high hopes (OK…maybe that one was intended.) for this book And for the most part, I was pleasantly surprised.
Shay is the cream of the crop when it comes to Air Force fighter pilots. She’s had to fight hard to get to the top spot in a male-dominated field and fight for the respect she deserves. But when it all comes crashing down, she takes some time away to let herself heal in the only place that ever felt like home. When she unexpectedly runs into Logan Daniels, the one night stand that she’s never forgotten or gotten over, life takes a big twist she never saw coming.
What I liked about the book:
The characters: I liked the idea of Shay. She’s beautiful, but she’s also smart, sassy, and a lot badass-y. I’ve known a handful of female fighter pilots and even a couple of fighter squadron commanders that are females. And I admire them and their drive and tenacity. And I did admire Shay. She’s worked hard, but we all make mistakes. Unfortunately, hers was more public than most of us have to deal with. Even though she took some time to get away, it’s what she needed to do in order to figure out who she was and where she wanted her career, and ultimately, her life, to go. And Logan was just an all-around good guy. He’s got a heart for helping and serving and gives his all to those in need. And despite the hurt and havoc Shay caused him, he’s able to work past it all and admit he’s still in love with her.
The setting/world: I love the area around Colorado Springs and can absolutely understand why it would be a place that would call to someone who needed time and a setting to rest, recharge, and figure out next steps. And despite it’s beauty, the weather is very unpredictable and very unforgiving. And jobs like those with the Forestry Service and the military tend to call to people looking for a challenging career, but they also tend to call to those that are looking for a family. They may not know it or realize it at first, but eventually, they do, and they tend to stick with that new-found family. But when that family betrays you, it’s devastating.
The story: I LOVE second chance romance books. Probably because that was my story and it turned out so wonderfully, I’m drawn to that trope.
NICUnurse’s Rating: Here’s where I felt like the book could have done a little better. If you’ve never been a part of the military world, it’s hard to understand the rivalry that exists between the services. It’s mostly good-natured, but it’s pretty hardcore at times. I’m an editor/proofreader on the side, and I do a lot of research for my clients because even though it’s fiction, some things just need to be right. There was one thing that popped up over and over that really bugged me. Shay referred to herself as a soldier. No self-respecting Air Force fighter pilot would EVER refer to themselves as a soldier. A servicewoman (once or twice she referred to herself as this, and I was hoping that would continue, but it didn’t) or an Airman, but never a soldier. However, with that said, all in all, this was a really good story. It was a little rough in the beginning but I was intrigued enough by the characters to see it through, and eventually, it really did suck me in. If you’re a fan of second chance contemporary romance, I think you’ll really like the book. And a big plus for me: it’s in Kindle Unlimited!
I give Tequila by Dr. Rebecca Sharp 4 out of 5 stars!
Breathtaking Love Story!
This was one breathtaking and phenomenal love story. The intense chemistry and attraction between the two main characters oozes off the page! This story will definitely take you on one intense and steamy journey!
Shay and Logan’s first meeting was definitely fate! They were meant to meet each other at that exact moment in time, but it wasn’t right yet for them to be together. Things and events needed to happen in their lives in order for their future to happen.
Shay is one strong, kickass, nothing going to get her down, kind of woman. She has struggled to get to the top of where she wanted to be. Logan is a sexy alpha male, who has an intense attraction to Shay at first sight. He wants her to continue flying high but also wants to keep her grounded with him.
Their highly combustible attraction jumped off the pages of my kindle and threatened to burn it up! “Careful, or your panties will drop faster than a freefall parachute.”
Shay and Logan are such wonderful and lovable characters. They will have you cheering throughout and fanning yourself from the heat they create! I loved every second of their story and I can’t wait for more.
This is my first read by Dr. Rebecca Sharp and I am so ecstatic about this read! I fell in love with Logan and Shay right from the start. I could not have predicted that, that was how things would start out for these two. Its swoony, steamy, unpredictable, exciting, heart clenching, and oh, so perfect. I finished this in one sitting and I couldn’t stop once I started. I wanted to know more, I needed to know more. A super satisfying, must read!
I really enjoyed this book. Loved Logan because how can you not love the mountain man? Shay took a little bit longer to warm up too. I liked that she persevered and got to were she was at as a fighter pilot. More power to her. My dislike was more because she dismissed Logan and how he made her feel. He wouldn’t have held her back but I think her needing to proved to herself and everyone else just got in the way.
Love Shay and Logan!! These two first meet and that attraction is there from the very beginning. I love Rebecca Sharps books. I love how she can grasp your attention from the very beginning, break your heart a little in the middle and then piece you back together with a HEA!!
Shay is one bada$$ chic who even though is playing with the boys she knows what she wants and won’t let anyone get in her way to get there. Logan, the handsome park ranger who after one look in Shay’s direction wants more than just one night. This book had me intrigued from the get go and I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to see what else Rebecca comes up with because I will read it all!
A second chance romance. In an unexpected meeting in the park Shay meets and falls for Logan. Knowing she has to leave and a long distance romance would never work Shay moves on trying to forget. But when a single mistake cost Shay everything six years later she returns to the same park to escape for a while. It’s been six years so the last thing she expects is to cross paths with Logan again and still have those same feelings. Logan is still bitter and unable to forgive until the life threatening weather forces him to admit, he cant let Shay go, again. A heart warming second chance romance.
Rebecca is an author that I never know quite what to expect before I start her books and this one is no different. In Shay the author has written a strong female character I have been longing for. Her drive and determination sits seamlessly beside her femininity. Their first meeting made me laugh and swoon and not just at Logan that girl had moves and she used them lol. I loved the choice of career for the main female character, the more you read of the book you realise it was a deliberate choice. The story has an enpowering message of self worth and striving to be the best. Logan is the bossy possessive alpha man I want standing with me as I fight live and love. I absolutely loved this second chance story it was well written with characters that are easy to fall for.
Rebecca Sharp is truly an Amazing talented storyteller and this book is another slice of evidence to prove that fact, she has taken a Country music song and carved out a phenomenal and addictive romance story that I absolutely devoured and loved.
Tequila is a quick, sexy, action packed Romance between a female Pilot Shay Covington and Ranger Logan Daniels. This is an insta love second chance kind of trope because after one perfect night together it is 6 years before they meet again. Were they discover the spark of that night is still there, but can you just pick up were you left off when there are truths to be told, that may not be forgiven…and their reunion is over shadowed and tainted by a natural disaster of a flooded town and a rescue mission.
Tequila is 15 chapters of perfection jam packed with action,Romance and steam that will grip you from the very start until the very end, I was totally enthralled. It was such a delight to read .
I dont believe I will ever tire of reading Rebecca’s books and this one is another winner and the start of what I know will be a Excellent series.
Highly recommend it.
