Ten seconds may be all she has left …Kate Edison witnesses her father’s death and, in order to keep his memory alive, decides to follow in his footsteps by joining the CIA. She molds herself into becoming exactly what the CIA is looking for—and captures their interest, both personally and professionally. But before she can finish the CIA process, Kate is offered a position as an espionage … position as an espionage agent in another highly secretive government agency, which she accepts.
While completing her agency training, Kate is catapulted into a shadowy world where wealth and power are the ultimate goal, and those in charge will stop at nothing to get it. While on the job, Kate uncovers secrets that, if revealed, would cost her life, but if kept, could bring down a nation. Isolated and unsure of who to trust, she brings in a fellow agent, but pulling him into the web of conspiracy and lies puts a target on both their backs – and it will take every skill they’ve ever learned as agents to stay alive long enough to stop the enemy no one else can see.

Ok book for summer read not great just ok.
Great read
One of those stupid books that have no ending. If you want to get suckered into buying more books to finish the story – go ahead. Little too much ooey gooey romance novel junk throughout, if you like that kind of thing…
It’s been awhile since I read this but suffice it to say I loved everything about this book!
Interesting and written on a level I would expect from someone like David Baldacci.
Excellent!!
Some techy stuff was bit far fetched, but entertaining. As with so many female authors, some technical details of weapons are ‘vague’, and as with many authors, the endings seem to just collapse, I suppose in the hope that you will go on to the next is series… I had so many questions at the end that I felt short change
Spy Thriller – Is book one of a promising series. Was a good thriller. The first part of the book sets up the character backgrounds and describes the necessary location where everything takes place. Once we are settled in the protagonist’s world, things take off. All I can say is I’m glad it wasn’t me and let the next reader enjoy.
A couple of irritating things was the protagonist “rolling her lips” too many times. And every time she spoke of Lyons, he always smelled woodsy. The overall writing quality was too good to let these type things show up. Only found about ten edit or wrong word usage. Book two teaser sounded very good also. Will buy it.
Intriguing concept and the action seems realistic for development of story . I really liked the main character who is really smart and has nerves of steel. Her lips and teeth action as a facial reaction characteristic to indicate stress, uncertainty, etc. was WAY too overused. I know the end sets up for the next book in the series; not sure I’ll read it. Otherwise, good job, author!
What, I can tell you about this book is the author got her hooks in me. I never read serials, but this book is the start of the series and you get swept up and before you know it you gotta read the next one and the next…etc. Ok, we start with a fresh out of college overachiever who has always wanted to join the CIA, her late Father was with the CIA so of course she wants to follow in her father’s footsteps. She goes through the training and just as she is about to start, another “government agency” secret agency offers her a job that she can’t tell anyone about. Now here is where for such a smart woman warning bells should have been going off. This secret agency tells her that they have already sent a letter to the real CIA informing them that she rejects there offer and if she doesn’t accept their job she won’t be working for any government agency, they tell her to think about it and then they drop the bomb and tell her that her beloved Father secretly worked for them. No brainer she accepts. My biggest issue is the amount of information the author gave about the training, page after page after page and don’t get me started on how many pages of internal thought. Overall a good read some moments of unbelievability, but the book will keep reading if for no other reason than to find out what happened.
Refreshing plot but certain elements left unresolved make for a less satisfying conclusion. Presumably /hopefully these are picked up in the sequel.
Not only could I not put this down, but once finished, I immediately ordered the 2nd!! Great read!
Keeps you on the edge and you can’t put it down. Diabolical and intrigueing at the same time.
It gets started slowly- and I kept wondering when the action was going to happen – after about 50 % of the book read- I understood the need for all the background info! Loved it!
I like the story but not enough to buy the second installment.
good enough that I bought the next one in the series.
This is really a good book. It is suspenseful and enjoyable. Written in a manner that YOU are right there with her.
Entertaining,well written
A great read! Makes you think and wonder if it is possible!
Interesting concept. I am excited about reading mire in the series to see what adventures are next,
One of the best reads for a while!
