10 Lies (The Power of Ten #3) was a great read by Emily James. Katie Perkins lives a very simple life. She works hard and takes care of her son. She won a fantastic luxury holiday and enjoys letting her hair down. Jackson Quinn is a handsome doctor who lives the good life. She throws caution to the wind because she never expects to see the doctor again. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
I thoroughly enjoy The Power of Ten series and 10 Lies is no exception. Emily James manages to put her characters into the most entertaining situations and makes their issues laugh out loud funny. Her humor is spot on and her writing and characters are well developed and fun to read.
Poor Katie has been pitied around town as “the widow” while she raises her young son. Winning a once in a lifetime trip she meets an attractive doctor on the plane and with each glass of champagne her life becomes more interesting. A week of fun and sun and she never expects to see Jackson again, until he shows up in her village as the temporary doctor and her little white lies begin to unravel.
Jackson not only falls for Katie but her young son, Barry. And while Katie enlists the help of her friends to cover up her fibs, she is also creative in solving Barry’s problems by appropriate phone calls to department who handle little boy troubles. I loved the genuine emotion Jackson showed to both Katie and Barry and I was rooting for the couple to make things work, but in true fashion the course of true love never runs true.
I listened to this book and found Kim Bretton had a great understanding of the characters and voiced each character distinctly and portrayed their emotions well. Her narration pulled me into the story and I found myself having a difficult time stopping to do real life things. Grab a cup of tea and your e-reader or earbuds and enjoy this story and the entire The Power of Ten series.
And it’s almost over… This series’s almost ending and I don’t want it to end…
It’s all Emily’s fault… She’s the author and her words are super addictive.
Sweet writing, super funny and a bit naughty.
Ten Lies is the third and last book from the The Power of Ten and explores Katie’s life.
Katie’s a single mom that recently become a widow. Life was perfect until it wasn’t. Being alone she can only rely on her to raise her son the best she can.
But life gives her another curveball and now she sees herself looking for a new place to live.
Sweet, perfect, amazing. These were the words that crossed my mind when I finished this book.
It was a breath of fresh air and I adored every second of it.
Perfect plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. It was marvelous to witness the way this story progressed.
These characters just stole my heart.
I feel in love with Barry. He was a cutie.
It was funny, sweet and hot. Yep… Hot.
You’ll love it and should tell your friends.
I wish I had a few friends like them…
Emily… Oh, Emily. This book is spectacular and I can’t wait to read more.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
10 Lies is the 3rd book in the Power of Ten series and I absolutely loved it. This comedy of errors had me laughing non-stop but it was also heart-warming and at times emotional. Katie and Jackson had intense chemistry and their story will keep you invested as they were both relatable and very likable. There was an extended cast of secondary characters who all provided balance and support to the story and I loved seeing the characters from the previous books make an appearance. This was an excellent addition to this series and I enjoyed every moment. I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic comedies.
I listened to the audible version of this novel. It was narrated by Kim Bretton who did a fantastic job portraying these characters and projecting their emotion and passions. I loved her voice and it was a pleasure listening to her narrate this novel.

Ten Lies
The Power of Ten Book Series, Book 3
By: Emily James
Narrated by: Kim Bretton
Emily James pens another wonderfully delightful “Power of Ten” novel, I just love this series, they are so well written with storylines that are fun, heartfelt and captivating from start to end. The dialogue she creates for her characters is just amazing, there are so many laugh out loud moments. This book is Katie Perkins story, she was introduced in Melinda’s story “10 Dares”. Katie is a widow and single mother of an adorable son, Barry, whom I just loved. She runs the local bar restaurant and lives in the apartment above it. The story starts with Katie returning from the vacation she won, a luxurious trip to Antigua. She had a great time, met a nice guy named Jackson Quinn spent time with him, told him some made up stories about her life, little white lies of things she dreamed of being or just what she thought he wanted to hear. Why not she is not ever going to see him again. Wrong! Turns out Jackson winds up coming to her home village working as the temporary Doctor in the villages’ medical clinic for six weeks. Katie explains to Melinda about all the white lies she told him, all ten of them and she decides to help cover for her. Some of them were just outrageous and it created hysterical situations. I adored Jackson, he had a great personality and demeanor. He was awesome with Katie’s son Barry, who was an adorable, smart five year old. Katie was amazing with Barry as well, I loved how she handled somethings with those phone calls, so imaginative and delightful. I highly recommend this book, once you pick it up you will not want to put it down, it is entertaining and enjoyable and will definitely put a smile on your face. Thank you Emily James for another fantastic book, your humor is brilliant.
I listened to the Audible edition, Kim Bretton is a terrific narrator and a talented voice artist. She brings these characters to life giving each their own voice and personality. She does a great job projecting the characters emotions and passion into her performance. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures and lands the humor with ease, not missing a beat. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen
I so loved this book! There were a few times I actually laughed out loud and had to explain myself! I was rooting for Katie all the way through the book. I’ve read this several times and each time I find something new that I love! Great Job Emily James!
