WARNING: This is not a story about two happy people who fall easily into love. This is a story about two broken people who find one another — and don’t necessarily like each other. These characters are blunt, rude, and at times annoying. They are broken and sheltered and vulnerable.
This book has violence, sexual situations, and harsh language and is not recommended for those under 17.
“In … under 17.
“In here,” he said, pushing on the skin above my heart, “you’re ten below zero. And you’re closer to death than I am.”
My name is Parker. My body is marked with scars from an attack I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember. I choose to live my life by observation, not through experience. While people are laughing and kissing and connecting, I’m in the corner. Watching them live. I’m indifferent to everything, everyone. The only emotion I feel with any kind of depth is annoyance, and I feel it often.
A text message sent to the wrong number proves to be my undoing.
His name is Everett, but I call him rude. He’s pushy, he’s arrogant, he crowds my personal space, and worst of all: he makes me feel.
He chooses to wear all black, all the time, as if he’s waiting to attend a funeral. Probably because he is.
Everett is dying. And he’s spending his final days living, truly living. In doing so, he’s forcing me to feel, to heal. To come face to face with the demons I suppressed in my memory.
He hurts me, he fulfills me, he completes me. And still, he’s dying.

I would think that at this point I should be able to care what happens with these characters or the story but I don’t.
I have absolutely no connection with them.
At 20% I felt I knew where this story was going and how it would end… Well, at 40% I’m almost certain I guessed it right.
IDK if I’m just in a funk….
WOW! Just wow. My heart is in shambles after finishing this book! What a beautifully written emotional book. This is my first read by Whitney Barbetti and I will definitely be looking for more of her books in the future. I devoured Ten Below Zero in one sitting. The writing is original, gripping and full of all the feels. These beautifully broken …
5 stars is not enough for this book. I smiled, laughed, and cried as I read this beautiful story of 2 people going on a road trip to save each other, even though they didn’t know it. I could not put this book down and as you get closer to the end and the conversations get deeper, grab your tissues! I loved this book and highly recommend anyone and …
Both characters in this story are undeniably and beautifully broken. They’ve been chewed up by the world and spit back out. While Parker is fighting with the demons of her past, Everett is fighting with an invisible and untouchable opponent. They each have people in their lives, some considered friends, some not, but those people have no idea what …
Really enjoyed this book quite different for a nice change
This book was so different from anything else I’ve read so far! I loved it! The banter was funny and towards the end I was crying and then I loved the end! I definitely recommend!
I loved Parker and Everett. I loved how they met and there severe dislike for each other that turned into tolerance then to love, loss then love again. I don’t remember the last time a book made me happy and hopeful then cry to the point my son asked if I was okay. Then I was okay followed by hopeful and relieved then finally extremely happy.
It was a good read. Actually, a good listening.
I loved this book. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me cry. A wonderful story.
Good tale about how two broken people can help each other be whole again.
Great book could not put it down it shows to never give up.
Two broken souls find each other under weird circumstances not looking to fall for one and other but life had other plans for them..
Parker is recovering from a past that she no longers wants to remember, she is strong, bold but yet likes to live her life alone.. people think she is weird but she doesn’t care about anything and anybody, she only …
This book made me laugh, furious and even cry at times. I enjoyed watching the relationship build between the two characters. I will probably re read it again because I enjoyed it so much.
All of the checked above. Kept me completely interested.
Great book. Kept me wanting to know the ending. Would recommend this book to anyone.
I do not often write reviews. I feel my opinion should not influence anyone to buy a book. With this book, however, I wanted to voice my opinion.
I really liked this book. The storyline kept me interested and several times, made me cry with feelings I rarely have for fictional stories. I would have given it 5 stars if not for all the grammatical …
It took me a little bit to get into it but was very pleased with how the book progressed. The end brought me to tears.
Awesome book!
Beautiful story, extremely well written. A thousand times better than The Fault in our Stars. Loved every word!
Good story. Loved the journey these two took. Cried at the end, but then loved the very end of the book.
