I’m the nanny, and I’m in love with my rock star boss. Not only has my life become a cliché, but I’ve also not been entirely honest about my past. To Treat, I’m the quiet girl from Ohio that cares for his daughter. I love Lily like she’s my own and I’ll do anything to protect her and him. But, I’m not quite the angel Treat thinks I am. I’m risking everything to keep my fraudulent past hidden. … my fraudulent past hidden. Because if the truth comes out, it could harm the two people I love most in the world.
Now we’re stuck together alone for a weekend at his Bahamas island home. Treat is a total alpha male with a wicked sense of humor and a body that makes me melt. And to my utter delight, he is dedicating himself to wringing earth-shattering organisms from me at every chance.
After this weekend, everything goes back to normal. This is just a fling. If only I could convince him we’re a forever love while I pull last one con job….
Author Note: Why should the Hollywood nannies have all the fun? Join Treat and Daria as they have a sizzling hot sexy Bahamas weekend, fall in love, and battle bad guys. Their story is safe and has a happily ever after because real life is too damn stressful for anything else. It’s as much fun as you can have without squeezing into a plane with germy strangers plus you won’t be picking sand out of every crack for the next six months.

I cannot begin to tell you how satisfying this read was, yes I wish it were longer so we get more drama, but c’est la vie. The characters chemistry was explosive.

This was a great read. I thought the story was very well written and flowed well. The story kept me glued to the pages to see how everything would turn out. I loved the characters and had this read in one sitting. I would highly recommend this read.
Great characters that will keep your interest extremely well.
I loved how the relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways they never expected.
It is the type of story that clutches you at once and does not release you until you get to the end – then you find yourself pining over the fact that the book has ended.

As always Lark Avery delivers another superb book. It has all the important elements: love, drama, and an HEA to die for!! A absolute MUST READ!! I can’t wait to find out about the lives of the rest of the band members and Devon too!!

This is a good addition to the “Rock Hard” series. It’s a fairly quick read that is also very sexy. Treat and Daria are great together. This is a very steamy story with a little excitement alone the way.
I really enjoyed Rocking Her World Always (part of this same “universe”), I was more than happy to dive into another story featuring a hottie from The Charmers. I absolutely loved the heroine from Rocking so I had high expectations for another strong leading lady with an undercover wild side. What I got? A lot of disappointment and eye-rolling moments. In fact, I had to go back and make sure the same author wrote both books. I expected more and got so much less.
First Impression: like I said above, I already read one of The Charmers stories so seeing the authors name immediately caught my eye. The cover was a lot more appealing than Rocking Her World so that was another one for the plus column. After reading the blurb with its promises of earth-shattering secrets and big “O”‘s, I knew it would be one not to skip on.
Book Facts:
Told in dual POV, this standalone novella features another member of the rock band The Charmers. A nanny with a secretive past and a badboy rockstar with a story of his own….and a sweet girl they both adore. Its only supposed to be one weekend to give into their desires, but when have two people been so right for each other? With two extended epilogues (1 year and 3 years later), you are guarenteed a HEA. But be warned, this is a VERY SMUTTY read, so if that kind of thing bothers you this short read IS NOT for you.
Characters:
Daria Abbott:
22 year old nanny to Treat’s daughter, Lily. Sister of Devon (seen as a secondary character in Rocking Her World). Came to LA from Ohio. She has a past that could hurt both Treat and Lily if uncovered, and she is willing to do anything to keep them safe. Sweet but with a sexy streak buried underneath it all. Has a great smile and laugh, not afraid to have some fun. She is devoted to Lily and truly loves her like a little sister. She is in love with Trent and wants him to see her as the woman she is. Trent recognizes her as a true submissive (even though she is sexually naive). She is hiding from an ex (Richard) who holds the keys to ruining her life.
Fav Things about Her: her devotion to Lily, her openness to trying new things.
Biggest Eye-Roll Moment (of hers): A tie between her being a recreation of Selma Blair’s character in Cruel Intentions (you know, after Sebastian gives her the business) and her absolutely cringe-worthy Apron scene.
Treat McGowan:
Single father to 4 year old Lily (who he had with deadbeat baby mama and model Rose). Drummer of The Charmers. True alpha male with a “wicked sense of humor” and a sinful body. Rich and famous but not your typical rockstar. Broody and intense, with dangerous secrets of his own. His smiles are only reserved for Lily. They are in the Bahamas so Lily can attend her mother’s wedding to an A-list actor, he is from the island and a majority of the story takes place in his renovated childhood home on Smuggler’s Cay (oh the irony). He has wanted Daria from the very beginning but has been able to resist due to the promise he made her brother. He is a Dom looking for the perfect sub, one that doesn’t just play the role….he thinks he has found that in Daria.
Fav Things about Him: admitting he’s jealous of his daughter bc of Daria’s attention to her (most honest thing in the book), he is a loving and protective father, values his friendship with Devon.
Biggest Eye-Roll Moment (of his): His “A Good Dom Knows” bullsh*t
5 Favs from Book: FIreworks scene, Devon, the Gingerbread House scene, Epilogue #2, and Treat’s alphaness
5 (okay 6) Hates from Book: Their first D/s scene, their completely absurd “connection” (their secrets), Girl-cum, the Apron scene, most of the dirty talk, all the over the top sex scenes.
Fav Quotes/Highlights:
He is going to fck the truth out of me. And so help me God, I am going to give it to him.
“Touched her gingerbread house?” I gesture to a chair next to me. “What’s up with her? It’s supposed to be eaten.” “Dear Brother, you should know better than to get between a woman and her holiday decorations.”
Comparison to Rocking Her World Always:
The differences are seriously night and day. While I didn’t think “Rocking” was a masterpiece or anything, compared to Tempting it is the most emotional piece of the year. Where Rocking capitalized on the small amount of page space to build everything up so once we got to the climax it was more explosive, Tempting used the space to create very little connection and instead just meaningless and over the top smut. Rocking actually used the heroine’s backstory to play a crucial part to not only the plot (from start to finish) but also the progression of the love story. Tempting introduced a backstory that honestly didn’t even need to be there….. seriously it played ZERO part in the love story or any other part of the novella.
Final Thoughts:
Like I said previously, i wanted to like this book, heck I expected to. And maybe that was the problem, trying to compare it to and expecting it to live up to its predecessor. I dont want to get into all the issues (I would be here far too long), but the major ones were: the neglect of the author to create characters and give us something to connect to, the failure to capitalize on what could have been a suspensful and exciting backstory (especially with the similarities in their secrets), the completely inaccurate and joke of a misrepresentation of a true D/s relationship and its dynamics, how Daria is written (from her going from sexual naive and inexperienced to talking like the smuttiest porn star in the business, the fact “her entire life has lead her to this point…. the point is giving him oral sex), and just the overall writing in general. It was so concentrated on attempting to make the whole D/s a central point of the storyline that it failed to establish any love or romance…..we (as readers) cannot emotionally connect or cheer for a HEA when their was very little to cheer for on the journey there. I love a good smutty read, but it has to have some substance. Im fact, Epilogue #2 is about as close as you get to connecting with these two. I am disappointed….. and hope that if there is another Charmers installment that she goes back to closer to the Rocking template. I won’t finish the next one that is like this.
Would I recommend this novella? For those that love smut without any romance/emotional substance, this checks all the boxes for an enjoyable read. But if you are like me and need just a little connection with even the dirtiest of characters, you might want to skip this….. you won’t get your fill.
