What happens when you mix an average American woman with a decidedly not average future King? I can tell you from experience–a whole lot of complications. You see, four months ago, my all-American sister, Kelsey, found out that she’s not actually my sister–she’s a princess of a country we’d never heard of. She begged me to come along when she was whisked off to her new palace, so here I am. … new palace, so here I am. An outsider who doesn’t fit in anywhere.
Now that she’s settled, I should go back to my exciting new career in New York. I absolutely should not stay in a country where I got shot (long story), where I suck so badly at the national sport that I accidentally murdered the symbol of the monarchy in front of half the country, and–oh yeah–where I can’t stop ogling Kelsey’s actual brother.
The Crown Prince.
The man who has to marry a very important princess. (not me)
The man who must create the next heir to the throne. (without me)
The man I absolutely can never be with. (remember that long story?)
The man who just gave me the best sex of my life…
Did I mention that it’s complicated?

Ever read a book that you know would make an amazing movie? TEMPTING THE PRINCE was a hilarious romcom I couldn’t put down!
Our heroine, Mallory, was like a fish out of water. After finding out her sister isn’t really her sister but in fact the missing princess of Moncriano, she drops everything to support her sister in her new home. She didn’t intend to be shot by an assassin, but these things happen. Unfortunately, that bullet changed her life in more ways than one. Her life in America was basically a wash so she’s trying to find her way in her new home. As her sister’s lady-in-waiting, she’s exploring ways to find her niche and Christian’s arms isn’t such a bad place to land.
Our hero, Christian, was the crown prince of Moncriano. He loved his country, his people, and his family. A bit of a playboy, he’s had to buckle down and step in as acting king because his father is holed up in his room. When his sister’s ‘sister’ becomes the one person he can turn to for comfort, the person he leans on the most, he thinks he’s willing to buck the oldest traditions to fulfill his heart’s desire. But will Mallory, his family, or his people let him?
I enjoyed this story so much! From the main characters, the side characters, the drama, the banter, the fun, and everything in between, this story was an amazing introduction to this author’s writing and an entertaining read. With tons of laughs and plenty of heart, TEMPTING THE PRINCE is an easy book recommendation to make!
So apparently this is a series but I had no clue. This is my first Christi book. And I am pleasantly surprised. This is about series about royal siblings and Tempting The Prince is about Christian and his journey to love.
This sort of like enemies to lovers with Kelsey’s(from The Princess Problem) sister Mallory. There’s an attraction that blooms when finally getting on mutual terms and the chemistry is set on fire. Their individual struggles flows over into their relationships. But…there’s always a but isn’t there? When Christian is thrust into the roll of being king sooner than either expects this is when the book picks up. Mallory knows their relationship is on borrowed time, even so she respects all traditions and regulations that his kingdom might have. There’s obvious obstacles that drown Mallory in her feelings and the offenders around them feed off the negativity going on.
So do they get a triumphant ending or does the crown rule the man over his love for her?
Thank you to the publisher Entangle and Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC!
When you read a romance novel you make the basic assumption that the two main characters will fall happily in love. It is the journey of how they get there that makes the book a success or failure. This author does an excellent job of the journey. There is no chance of boredom as you join Christian and Mallory on this path. They show us a rollicking good time as they buck protocol. Mallory’s sharp wit keeps Christian on his toes, laughing and trying to keep up with her. It is all rounded out by the rest of the family and friends in the house of Villiani as the series wraps up with a resounding bang.
With little help from their family!
Mallory Wishner knew that nothing would ever come of her crush on Prince Christian of Moncriano but when they ended up at the same bar, things started to change a little when she hustled him playing darts. Mallory just wanted to have a fling with Prince Christian without anybody knowing about it because she knew it would end because he was expected to marry another royal. She didn’t want to be around when he fell in love with someone else, but they finally figure out they are in love with a little help from their family!
I loved Tempting the Prince and all the books in the Sexy Misadventures of Royals because none of the royal took themselves very seriously except for Grand Duchess Mathilde and you will find out why when you read the series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was just okay for me. I had trouble getting into this one. It felt like most of the dialogue happened in the characters thoughts instead of between the H and h. Speaking of their thoughts, the constant “how difficult a relationship would be” got annoying after a while. I get that romance novels can have insta-love. I don’t mind it if it’s done right, but this one just didn’t hit the mark for me. The main characters barely have any interaction and then after 4 whole weeks, Christian is willing to upend the whole country to be with Mallory? It was just hard to suspend belief to that extent. I usually love royal romances, but this one wasn’t a favorite.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Tempting the Prince is the third and final book in this series. This is my first reading from the author and although this is part of the series, I didn’t have any problem following the story line. In that regards, this could be read as standalone but you could read the first two in this series for an in-depth understanding of this book world. This is a contemporary, royal romance with a tiny bit forbidden factor in it.
Mallory and Christian had an instant attraction and undeniable chemistry from the first moment they’ve met. Due to Christian’s position as the crown prince, both have decided not to pursue their feelings for each other. For one night of just throwing caution in the wind and living in the moment, these two gave in. What followed was hot, sexy and sweet moments but as much as they wanted to be together, Christian must adhere to his duty as the prince and eventually, king. As far as royal romance goes, this is pretty much spot on (royal-commoner love affair) and the angst and drama that comes with it. This was a light, quick and entertaining read for me and will recommend for lovers of this trope/ genre.
Although Tempting the Prince is the third and final part of the Sexy Misadventures of Royals series, it can be read as a standalone. However, I strongly recommend reading the first two simply because the series is Just. That. Good! With wonderful characters (and some rather stuffy that look down their noses at the American!), there are laugh out loud moments and tender, poignant ones that brought tears to my eyes. I strongly recommend the whole series!
A quick, fun read that had some laughs, some tears, and some sexy times! Christie Barth delivers a well-written story that is easy to read with characters who you can’t help but like.
Mallory and Christian were both easy to relate to. There was no lack of chemistry between the two, but there were definitely obstacles in the way of them finding their happy ever after. I loved how playful these two were with each other, but also how supportive to each other and those around them they both were. I also loved how Mallory always saw past Christian’s title and treated him like just a regular person, remembering that behind the crown was just a man who needed to be reminded of that sometimes. Although I got the whole “I’m the prince/king and I have a duty to put my country first” thing, I did find myself hoping for Christian to make a grand gesture/proclamation/just ask the damn King for permission already when it came to Mallory, but in the end, the way things happened did make me smile and appreciate how family played into Mallory and Christian’s relationship.
The entire cast of characters was colorful and just what you would want in a family. They were relentless in their teasing of one another, but if you were family, you were part of the circle that would always be defended and supported. Even though there were times that things were strained – especially between Kelsey and Mallory – you always knew that the bonds of family were strong. I loved how things wrapped up with Christian’s father and was happy that the epilogue really tied things up nicely.
This is my first book by Christie Barth and I really enjoyed her storytelling! This was a fun read that is part of a series but can be easily read as a stand-alone. The romance was quick, hot, and turned into love rather quickly, but in this case, the insta-love aspect didn’t detract from the story at all, just added to the whole “forbidden lovers” aspect of the book.
This is definitely one to check out!
This is such a fantastic read, a great end to a series that I have really enjoyed. The story has the perfect mix of light and laughs along with moments that will grab at your heart, touching at emotions and keep you reading. Christian is the prince and eventual king that just wants to enjoy himself and when he meets Mallory, plans get tossed aside. I love Mallory, she’s so smart and sassy. They click well together, the entire family meshes perfectly with each other. This is a must read book, it can be read as a stand alone or enjoy the entire series.
Tempting the Prince is one of a few fun and lighthearted romcoms that will really take you for a ride. I can’t help but compare it to one of my beloved Netflix holiday movies. I loved how these characters are just perfect for each other.
This is one of those books where you can see how everything works perfectly. I absolutely enjoyed watching Christian and Mallory start falling for each other. This book has just the right banter and drama that will reel you in for an enjoyable weekend read.
Overall, it’s entertaining, engaging, and pure fun. And even the side characters are also hilarious! It’s an easy go-to for those who want to have some lighthearted read for the weekend.
When Mallory decides to stay behind as her sister’s lady in waiting, she’s not sure she made the right choice. Desperate to get out of the castle for a while, she escapes to a night club that caters to the royal family, and ends up in a very compromising and satisfying position with the delectable Crown Prince.
She knows she can’t be everything he needs his spouse to be. She’s not a royal, and even if they got around that, Mallory does have other legitimate reasons to be wary of falling in love with Christian.
But these two can’t keep their hands off each other.
This is such a cute story. While predictable, it’s an entertaining journey into the world of the royal family. This is the kind of book you want to read when you need a major escape from the pressures of real life.
Lots of fun and easy-reading if you are looking for something like that.
An ARC was provided for review.
Tempting the Prince is the third and final book in the Misadventures of Royals series. It follows Prince Christian, heir to the throne of Moncriano and Mallory Wishner, lady-in-waiting to Princess Kelsey, who until just recently she thought was her sister by blood. This is a fun story of a royal and a commoner getting their HEA, something I love to read about.
Ms. Barth did a great job with making her characters complex and keeping the storyline moving. Also, the dialogue between Christian and Mallory is witty. In addition, they have great chemistry with each other, both romantically and as friends.
I wish I had read the previous two books, something I will probably go back and do, but it’s not required in order to read Christian and Mallory’s story. I give Tempting the Prince 4 stars and recommend it to those who love to read about a royal falling for the girl next door.
Mallory has come to Moncriano with her sister, Kelsey. The sister who, as they both found out, is not her biological sister after all. But they’re sisters at heart, so who better to help her sister transition to the life of a princess than her older sister? Even if Mallory has just now finally recuperated from being shot during the events of the last story? But Mallory is unsure of her life in Moncriano. She’s living in the palace, being waited on by the royal staff, and yet she’s not royalty herself. So she accepts a job and thinks to herself she can be happy here away from all she loves (except her sister of the heart). Then she meets the Crown Prince, the acting King, Kelsey’s biological brother himself, Christian. And he’s as gorgeous as they say, definitely the playboy they say, and she finally found something that is making her life a little better in Moncriano. But in the back of her mind, she knows absolutely nothing serious can come of their flirtation, as she’s not only not of royal blood, she’s a commoner, and an American to boot. And Christian is set to someday marry someone chosen by the council, someone of royal blood herself, someone deemed fit to help Christian’s bloodline flourish. Will Christian buck tradition and choose his love over his duty? Or will Mallory have to live out her life by her sister’s side, watching as Christian marries someone else and has the family with her that she cannot physically give him?
This is sweet, sexy royal insta-love fun. Christian and Mallory’s witty snark, their insane chemistry, and their sped up love all make for an entertaining, steamy story. Nothing out of the box, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Tempting the Prince by Christi Barth is a royal romance with all the feels and steamy chemistry. Mallory relocated with her sister, who is not really her sister, but a princess of a foreign country, to this new country and her life has been anything but normal since. Now she has fallen for the Crown Prince, the only man she cannot have. He is set to marry the right kind of woman. But they cannot deny what they feel for each other. While Mallory struggled acclimating herself to the royal family, Christian was trying to determine how to get what he wanted. Can they find their happily ever-after? A charming and light read.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
SO UPSET THIS IS THE LAST BOOK IN THIS SERIES! This was my first series from Christi and I became absolutely obsessed! This book focuses on the final sibling, Christian, and him finding love in Mallory (Kelsey’s sister). While they are both attracted to each other, the situation between the pair are messy until they meet on neutral ground in a bar and the chemistry is through the roof. We see how individually they both struggle and how the other is able to pick them up and help with those struggles. They feed off each other and it’s great to read. Christian is being pushed into the role of king sooner than ever anticipated, and Mallory is respecting the traditions and rules that follow that, knowing they could never work because of complications post shooting. It seemed that Mallory constantly fought the relationship even though it’s what she truly wanted, and it didn’t help with others around them fed off that and pushed the envelope. Thankfully, their love triumphs over everything and between Christian’s father getting the help he needs and recognizing his issues, as well as Kelsey and Genevieve getting involved with keeping Mallory in the country. At the end of the day, this couple is perfect for each other and I couldn’t get enough of them and their love! I was so sad to find out this was the last from this series – I would love at least a follow-up book to show where the three couples end up especially with all the open-ended aspects of the storylines!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is my first read from Christi and I can honestly say that won’t be the last, specially because I love sooo much this story, that I can’t wait to read the first two books of this series. This amazing royal romance brings the heat, the fun and what I liked the most was how the author showed that the behind of a royal life is not all sunshine and flowers.
When her sister, Kelsey, finds out that she isn’t actually blood to Mallory, but an actual princess, both their lives changes drastically as they move from the US to Alcarsa Palace in Europe. After protecting her sister and gets shot, Mallory is back to the palace, trying to deal with her future and the ramifications of the shooting.
What I loved the most about Mallory is that, even though she has a lot of reasons to complain, she doesn’t. She is struggling, there is no doubt, she doesn’t know how to fit at the palace and also has to deal with the probably infertility issue she has because of the shooting. But she is so strong, smart, sassy and amazing.
Christian is the crown prince and I was swooning so hard over him every single time! He cares a lot for his family and now with his father sick, he has to fill the King shoes. And it has to been easy for him, at all, there’s also a lot of expectations of whom he should marry and bear children.
Together they are amazing, they complete one another and help navigate each other’s lives. They are soulmates and their friendship evolves is so beautiful. I was totally enchanted with them. Their chemistry was so palpable and I could only feel it increase with each page.
They loved each other so much that they were willing to sacrifice themselves to protect the ones they love and the country. I was so glad that the actual King talked to Christian and showed him what was really worthy in life.
The end was super beautiful and funny. I loved every second. I wish I had more pages to read about them all, they are so entertaining! Give me more!
Christi Barth’s Royals series continues with Mallory and Christian’s story.
This is the only book of the series that I have read. It was very easy to pick up and not have read the previous stories.
Mallory- adoptive sister and best friend to newly returned Princess of Moncriano, Kelsey. Mallory has put her life on hold in the States in order to help Kelsey with her transition to royal life. Mallory has not had an easy time being in Moncriano. She is happy for her sister but isn’t sure she belongs in the palace and apart of the royal world.
Christian- Kelsey biological brother. Crowned Prince of Moncriano. He is covering his father’s duties as his father has had a hard time processing the return of Kelsey and the attempt on her life. Christian begrudgingly takes on these duties however he is not complete settled in his role as heir.
Tempting the Prince is a very typical Royal/Commoner theme to it. However there was a great issue that was keeping them apart. I love a good commoner and royalty story. This is a very well written and well done example of this trope. Christian and Mallory have a chemistry together. There wasn’t as much angst as I would have liked. I wish Mallory had fought back a little more with Christians plan to date for four weeks. She put a lot on the line with heart to take his tempting offer. Time and storyline movement at times felt rushed. But overall this was a really good read. It was a 4/5 read for me. If you like a royal/commoner trope you should give this one a try.
This was my first Christi Barth book but it won’t be the last. This story was such a fun lark into contemporary European royalty that I’ll have to find the first 2 books in the series. It’s definitely romantic comedy and it has it’s serious moments as well. I loved the bond between the sisters and the Prince’s love & loyalty to his father.
Mallory Wishner has returned from Michigan to Alcarsa Palace now that she’s recovered from being shot protecting Prince Christian in an assassination attempt on his life. She’s recovered from her injuries but the jury is still out if she’ll heal internally to someday have a child. She is Princess Kelsey’s Lady-in-Waiting who she grew up believing was her younger sister. We now know Princess Valentina was kidnapped 24 years ago and grew up being known as Kelsey with Mallory in Michigan. Mallory’s dreams were changed with this revelation and decided to help Kelsey settle into her role of royal princess instead of a graphic designer. Mallory had planned a career of being a fundraiser and making a difference to those in need.
Prince Christian is overwhelmed as Crown Prince. His father is AWOL, locked away in his rooms refusing to take his role as King. Christian is doing everything to cover for him and sometimes it’s just too much. When he and Mallory find themselves decompressing at the same bar together they discover they have many things in common one of which is being competitive. Unfortunately Mallory finds she’s a bit of a klutz around him and accidently lands a dart in his arm, injuring him. While doctoring him in the bar’s back room things get steamy. We then get to watch the Crown Prince and the ordinary American fall in love. It’s a doomed relationship by Privy Council standards because they expect Christian to marry a royal & secure an heir to the royal line. But Christian realizes Mallory makes him feel calmer and see things clearer and refuses to consider the official Bride List.
I so enjoyed the banter between these people, the realness of the characters. They had to fight for what they wanted and work for it. I found it a well crafted story and I will go back and read the previous two books to learn Kelsey & Princess Genevieve’s stories. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tempting the Prince is the third book in the Sexy Misadventures of Royals series. I’m assuming they are all written as stand-alone titles because I haven’t read any other books in the series and I had no problems following the storyline. The author did a good job filling in the blanks without being too heavy on the backstory.
What I liked about the book: It’s kind of like a grown-up, sexier, and edgier version of A Christmas Prince, and that’s one of my favorite movies. I watch it year-round, over and over again.
NICUnurse’s Rating: Christi Barth is a new-to-me author, but I love finding new authors that I fall in love with their writing so it was an easy choice whether or not to read this book. Reading new authors is always a gamble, but in this instance, I was definitely the winner. Despite the fact that I began the series at the end (for now???), I had no issues figuring out the sum of the previous 2 books. And I enjoyed it enough that I’ve added the first 2 books to my TBR. The characters were easy to get to know and the storyline flowed well. My heart broke for Mallory. She’s on this emotional rollercoaster not of her own making, for the most part, and trying to figure out what her next steps should be all while grieving a future she thought she had all figured out. And Prince Christian is also dealing with a lot of the same issues in a different way, so my heart went out to him, as well. While there are sexy and light-hearted moments, this book also touches on some very heavy topics like grief and depression. The author managed to balance the sexy, light-hearted, and heavy times very well so that it didn’t feel overwhelmingly dark. Overall, I was pleasantly pleased with the story, and I’ll definitely be looking to read more of Christi Barth’s works.
I give Tempting the Prince by Christi Barth 4 out of 5 stars!
This was my first read by Christi Barth but by no means my last. I’ve put the previous books in this series on my TBR to read when I have a chance. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a royal story and grabbed this one without realizing there were several before in the series but I don’t feel like I was thrown in the middle of something with no concept of where I was. Mallory was trying to be there for her sister despite also being thrown into a situation for which she was not prepared for but she would do anything for Kelsey. Christian is the Crown Prince currently trying to help his father the King out. These two have chemistry you can virtually feel coming off the pages but there is absolutely no way they could ever be together. Christian must marry a royal and have an heir. Mallory is a commoner. Lots of fun with their bets and some emotional turmoil both within and without the royal family. Very enjoyable read.
