Hot-and-Cold Hero; Implausible at Times
I love a good historical romance tale, and I had hopes for this one. However, I found myself disappointed by it. The way the hero and heroine interacted seemed implausible to me on several fronts. The 18-year-old heroine comes across as too worldly at times given her sheltered background. Would she truly have any idea what seduction meant and what it entailed, let alone how to do it? The conversation between the H &h, when it happened early on, which wasn’t often, often seen riddled with contemporary words, phrases, and ideas… along with contempt on his side. I didn’t like the hero’s hot-and-cold nature. I especially didn’t like that his cold nature seemed to exist because he couldn’t keep his libido in check. Long stretches of time sometimes existed between scenes, so quite often the author resorted to telling rather than showing what happened or didn’t happen between the characters. I found it strange, too, that the duke wanted to send the heroine to a ladies’ seminary. The girl was 18, past the age where a young girl of those times would have started at such an institution. At the age of 18, she would be more apt to be married off rather than sent to a finishing school. Even a governess seems a little odd for young women of eighteen. The one bright spot in this book was the duke’s sister, whom I instantly liked because of her immediate care and concern for the young, penniless orphan. If only her brother had been the same! All in all, I found this to be a strange Regency tale that didn’t make either internal or external sense.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I have recently been introduced to Ms. Nash’s books and I will say she has a fan for life now! This book is quite the page turner with just the right balance of intrigue and romance. The story had me engaged and captivated from the first page until the very end. Ms. Nash has such a talent for including descriptions that are so vivid and with such great attention to detail, you feel as if you are right there watching everything and experiencing it all for yourself. The dialogue between Jon and Louisa was so entertaining and the chemistry and attraction were undeniable! I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read more books by Ms. Nash!

A well written story, by an Author I have not read before. I enjoyed reading Louisa Kellynch and Jon the Duke of Devonshire’s story. I want to read her other books. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An improper lady’s plan.
Louisa becomes the ward of the man who will take over what was her home. Being a woman she is unable to inherit the family estate. Now the new duke does not want Louisa around so plans to send her off to boarding school. I think Jon may need to re-think that option. Louisa is a lady who knows her own mind and likes to be independent but with the death of her father she now has a guardian who will dictate her life. I love Louisa she is a character after my own heart her never say die attitude will test good old Jon. I loved the book it was a fun read a cute story with likable characters but do expect some drama too. This is one I truly recommend you check out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
