JacksonEveryone says what a lucky guy I am. I’ve got a great kid, an amicable relationship with my ex, and a job working cattle on one of the largest ranches in Eden, Wyoming. Only problem is that “everyone” has no clue that I’m living a half-life.Because the other half is a closeted gay man who’s got it bad for the young ranch hand he works with day in and day out.But the very straight Travis … and day out.
But the very straight Travis isn’t an option. And even if he were, my sexy co-worker isn’t exactly committed to commitment.
So it’s time for a change and since gay guys aren’t exactly falling off trees in Eden, I’m going to need a little help…
Travis
It was supposed to be a Friday night like any other. Me and my best friend heading into town to find some female company for a few hours. And even though Jackson usually goes home alone, he’s still a great wingman.
Unfortunately, between my impatience to get the night started and my bad habit of snooping, I’ve learned two things about Jackson in the space of five minutes that have left me all kinds of confused.
Jackson’s gay.
And he’s placed a classified ad to try and hook up with some guy he can’t get his mind off after a brief run-in at a hardware store in the city.
Now I can’t get my mind off Jackson.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the ladies, but why can’t I stop thinking about my good-looking best friend and the faceless stranger he’s ready to start something new with? Jackson doesn’t need some random guy right now. Not when he has me…
Oh hell.

I liked this storyline. Jackson and Travis have been working together. Travis finds out that Jackson is gay, even though he has an exwife and son. Jackson has always wanted Travis, but considers him straight and doesn’t want to lose his best friend. Travis now realizes he has strong and deep feelings for Jackson. Wish this had been a bit longer get and gone further. I wanted a true HEA, knowing that they found a home together.
Jackson and Travis have been friends for years, working hands on the same ranch. Since they are senior hands, along with several others, they get to live in a ranch house. Jackson is about ten-years-older than Travis, and basically his mentor. When everyone else would, have written Travis off as a hothead, Jackson talks him down knowing, his background is usually the trigger.
Jackson is always Travis’ wingman which he hates on women, because little does Travis know, but Jackson is part of the LBGTQ community, and he has been crushing on Travis. But, when a male, someone, in the hardware store in another town, asks for his number, he starts wondering is it time, to move on?
When Travis comes over early, and sees the personal ad Jackson runs, looking for the man from the hardware store. He didn’t exchange his name or number with the guy, named, Hal. Which creating the ad, makes Travis crazy, so rather than asking the story, there is a million one miscommunications between best friends.
What a sweet, tender, yet heart wrenching story of reality the people from the LBGTQ must live sometimes. Fear, shouldn’t have to be the first factor, to loving someone. For Jackson and Travis, it is. Not only for themselves, but Jackson’s son and ex-wife. Free on Amazon.
A short story, in fact you just get into it, and then it’s done!
Jackson is gay, he’s known for years, but fear and a small town mentality forced him into a marriage he didn’t really want. The only thing to come out of that, was his wife is now his friend and he has a son who he loves more than life.
Travis is a player, variety is the spice of life. A different lady every time. No commitment, only a fun time. He’s the local hothead, but that’s the way he plays it. He’s got secrets, he’s been hurt in the past, and so that’s how he plays it.
Told in the POV (point of view) of the characters.
Jackson has loved Travis for a while now, and watching him with the ladies kills him, he might drive them to the bar, he might do mixed doubles with Travis and the ladies, but nothing happens. So when Jackson gets hit on by a guy, he decides to take matters into his own hands, a date, and who knows what else. It’s time to put his love for Travis in a box, and get on with his life.
Travis can’t get a hold of his feelings for Jackson, they are mates, and he’s hurt when he finds out Jackson is gay! Why couldn’t he tell his friend? And now he’s going to hook up with some random guy!
Misunderstandings and hurtful words are thrown around, Travis stalks off to be with a girl and Jackson leaves…..
It all comes to a head when Travis realises Jackson is missing…..
So can they make a go of this? Can they keep it a secret? And what happens next?
I’d love to find out, definitely have to put this author on my “to watch” list.
Jackson and Travis were friends for a long time and they also worked together. Jackson had to hide his sexuality and the his true feelings for Travis. Circumstances caused Tavis to realise he wanted Jackson too. They were combustible together with so much built up heat, especially for Jackson.
This short and steamy romance between ranch hands Travis and Jackson was a perfect bedtime read. It took just the thought of losing Jackson to someone else to kick Travis into gear. Hopefully we catch glimpses of these two in future books in this series.
