An old crush. A hot doctor. And one tempting night with consequences.Samantha Barrett’s got it all under control…if wrangling a classroom of rowdy ninth-graders, chasing a delinquent dog, or living with your grandmother don’t count against you. As if that wasn’t enough, her brother’s best friend, Dr. Ethan Cordero, is back in Barrett Ridge and living next door…and boom, she’s reliving every … next door…and boom, she’s reliving every single one of her silly schoolgirl fantasies about the delicious doctor.
Now, Ethan’s eyes may spark with attraction when he sees her, but his cool, professional demeanor demands she keep her distance. After a string of ill-starred romances, Sam’s sure that common sense will rule the day, right? Of course, she barely notices Ethan’s sizzling-hot, hard abs, broad shoulders or his heart-melting dedication to his teen son.
Dr. Ethan Cordero has it all mapped out for his fresh start in Barret Ridge. Only two things count — get his son, Mateo, through high school and grow his medical practice. That’s all good until Samantha Barrett charges into his backyard, gets under his skin, and lifts that shadow lurking over his heart. But his best friend’s little sister keeps mixing up his well-laid plans with that curvy little backside of hers, her joyful laugh, and her surprising bond with Mateo.
Between a con artist canine, a confused grandma, a backstabbing stepmother, and one decadent chocolate cake, Ethan finds that every path winds right back into the arms of the oh-so-enticing girl next door, Sam.

At first, it seemed that this story was going to be light, comic relief, but the further I got into it, the more depth and layers the book had. It reminded me of the theatre masks, Comedy and Tragedy as one moment I was laughing out loud, and the next I was wiping my eyes in sorrow. Samantha has had a crush on Dr Ethan Cordero ever since she was a pre-teen, only to find he is now renting the house next door together with his son, who just happens to be in her English class. Normally a light-hearted, agile person, Sam becomes a total klutz around Ethan, and he has his work cut out having to rescue her. When the unthinkable happens and Sam’s malicious step-mother takes a hand in stirring up even more trouble, Sam’s life starts to fall apart. However, when she lands in a life-threatening situation, Ethan recognises his own heart, but it’s touch and go as to whether he will have the opportunity of telling her how he feels. This story touched my emotions and I found it difficult to put the book down when it came to an end. It is well written, emotive and full of real-life situations. Having to overcome previous mistakes is always difficult, and this book does not spare the punches. I received this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
2.5 that I’ll bump to 3. This one sounded like it would be a fun and entertaining read. Sadly, it just didn’t pan out all that well for me. It started out promising, but by halfway through I was probably doing more skimming than actual reading. The story just seemed to travel in circles with nothing much moving until the last two chapters. Then, when things did start happening it felt rushed and the storyline seemed to jump around.
What a great love story. Holds your attention
I really enjoyed Samantha and Ethan’s story.
Their’s was one of angst and changes for the better.
Sometimes it’s hard to trust love again when you have been burnt.
This author is one of my favorites, she really gets into her characters.
It was a good story and a HEA, but it is only getting 3 stars. It took me way too long to really get into the story enough that I could actually read it. I just didn’t get drawn in enough at the first and had to struggle to get there.
I enjoyed this well written small town contemporary romance that kept me entertained and intrigued from the first page to the last with relatable characters, the right amount of humor and poignant moments, family drama, flirty and sexy romance, and so much more. I really liked feisty Language Arts school teacher Samantha Barrett and her dynamic with the other characters especially single dad Dr. Ethan Cordero, skilled neurosurgeon and her older brother’s best friend who moves back to Barrett Ridge with his fourteen year old son Mateo. Ms. Cortelyou has given us another winner and I look forward to the next book in the Barrett Ridge series from this talented author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

An emotionally gripping read that will continue to tug at your heartstrings throughout the engrossing twists that pulls you deep into its depths grabbing your attention sending your heart racing shocking your senses as you feed off the words needing the HEA you so desperately desire to pick the pieces of your heart you lost along the way! Exciting, intense, fun, sweet, edgy, heartwarming, heart-wrenching and sexy steamy chemistry! An amazing must read!
This book will play to your emotions as Dr. Ethan Cordero tries to forgive himself that his first wife died and that neither of them had been happy together. I liked this line from the book “A failure doesn’t define who you are.” Samantha Barrett is a beautiful, strong character who will never settle for anything less than what she wants and deserves. I admire her beliefs. You won’t want to put the book down as you read to find out what happens to these two characters who grew up together. It is an interesting story with a few twists and turns and great insight into the characters. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Tempting Doctor Forever is a terrific single dad, girl next door, and best friend’s little sister romance. Ethan and Sam’s story has everything from humor to heartbreak to steam. Holly Cortelyou even throws in a wicked step-mother to add a little angst. I hated to see the book end!
Good story about family & new beginnings.
“Tempting Doctor Forever” by Holly Cortelyou is well written, held my interest from the first chapter to the last and had characters that had wonderful chemistry and were well developed. The story centers on teacher Samantha Barrett and Dr. Ethan Cordero and his son Mateo. Sam has always had a secret crush on her brother’s high school friend Ethan. Ethan and his son Mateo have returned to Barret Ridge and end up renting a house next door to Sam and her Nana. Ethan’s returns home to have a fresh start after the tragic death of his wife to concentrate on his son, father and his medical practice. Ethan was always Sam’s knight in shining armor but as his friend’s little sister she is off limits. However things change when one night of passion leaves to consequences. This was a really good read that I could not put down and read in one sitting. I loved the storyline, the dialogue and the chemistry between Sam and Ethan. Ethan had issues concerning relationships and love. Sam loved Ethan and would only commit to him if he loved her. How the author resolved their issues made for a compelling love story that I enjoyed reading and highly recommend.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
She had an old crush on him but he tried to resist it as it would not be right. She was his best friend sister. Will the emotions finally come out? Follow them and see
I received an advanced copy and I enjoyed it so much that I want to review
I loved this book! I know it had to be hard for Sam to have feelings for Ethan for so many years and not have them reciprocated. Now that Ethan is single, living next door to her, and has a son that is in her English class she has dreams that they will get together. Ethan hasn’t had a good track record with women, so he has no ideas of getting with another woman. His college girlfriend got pregnant, and he did the right thing and married her. Unfortunately she was not happy and took drugs and had affairs. I loved his son, Mateo. I am sure he was extra special to me since my grandson’s name is Mateo and the same age. Mateo is a great kid for the things he went through. I loved how well Sam got along with him and helped him out at the new school. There were times that I wasn’t too happy with Ethan. The give and pull between the Ethan and Sam was emotional. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
