When two roommates spend one enthralling summer together, the result is unexpected: skimpy bathing suits, sexy fantasy book inspirations, and hot tub make-out sessions. Monica and I became roommates by accident. Well, if you can call her burning down my little cottage an accident. But my once sassy friend has turned into a hollow shell of herself, and my life isn’t exactly going according to … herself, and my life isn’t exactly going according to plan either.
To help both of us, I whisk her away to Lake Tahoe.
The last thing I expected from this trip is the burning attraction between us that’s threatening to set us on fire.
When both of our lives are back on track, will we be able to hold on to our special connection, or will our former lives be more tempting?
Can be read as a total standalone. Previously published as One Short Summer-Dancing With A Hot Nerd

I’m not too big on friends to lovers, but I absolutely adore Jasmin, so there was no way I was missing out on book two of the Brooksville series, One Short Summer!
Oh my goodness, Gabe and Monica were the absolute cutest. I loved, LOVEDDDDDD seeing their relationship bloom from the ever so supportive friends to the cutest couple ever.
These two are seriously the best of friends, I really enjoyed them as friends and when they finally decided to be together. There are times when it doesn’t always work, but these two have it all. And I couldn’t stop myself from just loving them, instantly. I was constantly smiling with these two.
Even though these two are a bit of opposites, personality wise, they complement each other. They extremely loyal and protective of one another. And they want nothing more than for each other to thrive and reach every dream that they have.
I enjoyed Monica’s journey of recovering from her injuries and just watching the life come back into her. I am such a fan when an author incorporates dance into a book and Jasmin did it so well.
Their story is just sweet and heartwarming, makes me want to hug Monica and Gabe and never let them go!
A phenomenal addition to this series that everyone will enjoy!
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM THE AUTHOR IN CONSIDERATION FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. **
Jasmin Miller
Loved this series!
Oh. My. Gawd, Jasmin Miller has struck again!! The Mitchell men are by far some of THE sexiest men ever! Gabe Mitchell is utterly delicious. Monica is a woman after my own heart. She speaks to my inner extrovert with her sass, sarcasm, confidence and no nonsense attitude. Gabe’s kindness and thoughtfulness while he takes care of Monica is so sweet it’s no wonder why she nicknames him Charming. I’ve enjoyed their slow burn, friends to lovers journey. They build their relationship up on the foundation of their friendship based on support, trust, and honesty. They both offer what the other has been missing and their chemistry is off the charts.
I really, really enjoyed this series so freaking much. These two were so great. They are roommates and friends. Shes been a down and he has writers block so he decides to get them both out for a while to regroup. Just really liked them and their story.
This book pulled me in and kept me entranced till the end. The feelings of love, hate, and pain coming out in waves making you want to cry while you read. This was such a beautiful book! I loved the characters’ wholesomeness!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story. I shows that no matter how strong and confident some is they always need the support of those they care about.
Monica and Gabe are similar but yet different. Monica is carefree and crazy, were as Gabe is quite and reserved. Yet they both struggle in the confidence of who they need to be.
With the straight and encouragement, both Monica and Gabe are able to achieve what they want, in the process fall in love.
The characters are well written, they leave you smiling at the end.

I absolutely loved this story. It was the kind of build slowly romance and steamy sex build-up that makes me want to read to the very end in one sitting. Gabe and Monica are both strong, well-developed characters with exciting careers. And both have been hurt by previous partners and are skittish when it comes to beginning a real relationship. This book really has a storyline, one that is realistic and easily followed. I also enjoyed the inclusion of updates on Charlie and Hudson, characters from the previous book in this series. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!

This was an enjoyable read from start to finish. The characters are well developed and engaging. The storyline flowed easily.

After reading Baking with a Rockstar I knew I wanted to know about her best friend and his brother. And it did not disappoint. Friends to lovers. If your looking for a swoon fest then look no further. Jasmine knows how to make a man swoon!!

Monica and Gabe’s story was sweet with a side of spicy. I love how there was this line of attraction through the whole book. However, I liked that they started as friends and it slowly built into a deeper relationship. They both needed each other to get over certain life events. It had a lot of steam, but I enjoyed their banter and friendship too.
This is another great standalone in the Brooksville series this one has Gabe and Monika they become roommates are friends then something more. This is a great read I love the friendship between these two their story is sweet and swoon worthy I would give 10 s if I could. I would highly recommend this book and series. Jasmin Miller is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
I was given an ARC for an honest review
Oh how this book made me smile and swoon!! Gabe and Monica have a special relationship – friends, roommates, and then so much more. Their chemistry is so perfect, and I fell hard for these two!
I especially liked Monica’s character. I could relate to her so much with all that she went through with her wreck and how it was taking her some time to climb out of that darkness and back to her old fun self. This character really resonated with me as I was reading, and I could really feel her pain and joy as she grew.
Then of course, I enjoyed seeing more of the Mitchell clan and Charlie from the first Brooksville novel. Loved it! I definitely recommend this book!!
Gabe has decided he’s finally had enough of Monica lying around the house watching reality TV, avoiding life. He’s just the friend to get her out of her rut, so he decides to take her to Lake Tahoe. Though he and Monica are friends just, somehow, along the way, feelings develop that are decidedly more than friendly. So they agree upon a “for the summer” arrangement while Monica finds herself again and Gabe gets some writing in. But when it comes time for the summer to end, for Monica to get back to her dance career, can they actually let go of each other?
I really liked this friends to lovers romance. Gabe & Monica are great together and Gabe is a woman’s (or a man’s) dream! So sweet, kind, and compassionate. Not to mention has a huge dose of sexy going for him. I haven’t read the previous story in this series, but after having read and fallen in love with One Short Summer, you can be sure I plan on reading more from this author!
ARC via author.
This was such a cute story with so many heartfelt moments. If you’ve read the first then you know who Gabe and Monica are.. In case you haven’t, Gabe is Hudson’s brother and Monica is Hudson’s fiancee best friend.
Gabe is a writer but he is struggling with his latest book. Thanks to Monica, it goes a different way and becomes so much better. Him and Monica live together. Monica is recovering and trying to motivate herself to dance again. Gabe helps her regain her confidence and with the help of his sister, she finds her love of dance again. These two help each other heal and find the love they’ve always wanted. Yes with themselves and writing/dancing again. This was a great story with characters you will just fall in love with! Oh and the epilogue is super adorable! I love when they are settled and happy with a family!
Five stars for sweet couple Monica and Gabe !!!
“One Short Summer” is the first book I’ve read by Jasmine Miller and I really love it. For sure, this won’t be the last book I’ll read by her.
This year I found out that I love reading a good friends-to-lovers book and this one has everything I want in books with this trope.
Monica and Gabe, as I said on beginning, are so sweet and adorable couple. Their story was fun to read and made me smile so much while I was reading.
This is a perfect book for bringing it with you on your summer vacation.

“One Short Summer” by Jasmin Miller is the second book in the “Brooksville” series. A super-sweet contemporary romance between a dancer and a writer. This book can be read without having to read the previous one, but it’s better to get an idea of how beautiful the Mitchell brothers are.
Monica, 24, moved into the home of Gabe Mitchell, 27, the popular writer, when she went to visit her friend Charlie in Brookville after a car accident. At first, the flirting was constant but after a while, things calmed down. Now Gabe will have to go to Lake Tahoe to concentrate on his novel, and Charlie will accompany him, returning to revive the chemistry that emerged long ago.
I wanted to read this book because these characters already appeared in “Baking With A Rockstar”. Gabe is Hudson’s brother and Monica is Hudson’s fiancée, and also Charlie’s best friend. The flirting was there, and although later calmed down, after a while, everything came back and in the best way. They were perfect and so cute together. They pulled each other and helped each other what made the relationship work each with a different past, their fears and insecurities. The Mitchell brothers captivate your heart with only the first few pages and also the protagonists.

I was so excited about getting Gabe and Monica’s story after the first book, I just knew their story would be amazing. Gabe was such a sweetheart and done so much for Monica even if he didn’t have to, he was there for her physically and emotionally. Monica suffered a broken leg in an accident and as a dancer it is devastating for her so even after she is healed she is a bit depressed and of course Gabe sees this and does everything in his power to help her through. I loved Monica because once she got out of her funk she was to her sassy flirty self and this made them realize there were feelings there under the friendship that they were scared to act on. I loved how things played out and worked out because these two together are amazing and the chemistry they have is off the charts.
This was a fun and heart-felt story. Monica and Gabe have been friends for a while now. However, Gabe realizes that they both are in a rut, especially Monica. Monica was recovering from her accident, but hasn’t attempted to dance again. While Gabe is in one of of his writing ruts. These two had instant chemistry when we first met them and now while on their getaway, their chemistry comes full force. Will Gabe and Monica except their connection and move past summer fun or will they go their separate ways? This story is filled with funny, heart warming, as well as some heart breaking moments, but Gabe and Monica pull you in and you won’t want to put this book down. Definitely read One Short Summer.
One Short Summer: A Friends To Lovers Roommate Romance, is book two in the Brooksville series by Jasmin Miller. This book can be read as a complete stand alone but the two main characters, Gabe and Monica, were first introduced in book one, Baking With A Rock Star. Gabe is Hudson’s brother and Monica is Hudson’s fiancé, Charlie’s best friend.
Monica spent her life pursuing her love of dance. But a year ago, she broke her leg in an accident. She came to Brooksville to heal and moved in with Gabe. Her recovery hasn’t been as swift as she might have hoped and she has slowly slipped into a depression, spending her days watching reality television. There might have been a bit of a flirtation between Monica and Gabe when they first met. But that is long forgotten. They’ve become close friends, an easy camaraderie has developed. But Gabe is concerned with Monica’s state of mind. It’s like she has given up. So he decides it’s time for a change of scenery. It will do them both good. He’s taking Monica to his home in Lake Tahoe.
Monica didn’t realize how far she’d allowed herself to sink. Until she woke up. The change of scenery was just what she needed and she slowly found her way out of the fog she’d fallen in to. Something else was waking up as well, her attraction to Gabe. They’ve been living under the same roof for a year, they can practically finish each other’s sentences. But all of a sudden, she realizes just how attractive he really is! But he’s her best friend’s fiance’s brother. What if she gave in to her attraction and it fell apart? It would make things very uncomfortable for everyone.
Gabe is thrilled to see the improvement in Monica’s state of mind. At the same time, the spark comes back to their relationship, one he desperately wants to give in to.
“If this woman wants me, she can have me, in whatever way she’d like.”
Gabe and Monica begin to navigate an entire new path in their relationship. One that is both scary and thrilling. Gabe is a relationship kind of guy, though. He wants the happy ever after. Monica not so much. She doesn’t believe she is a long term relationship kind of girl. Plus the fact that she has to leave Brooksville soon to go back to her career. A dancer’s life is on the road. A long distance relationship doesn’t work.
I really enjoyed this and I feel like Jasmin’s writing is growing in leaps and bounds. Her sexy scenes were fabulous. I definitely felt the heat between Gabe and Monica! This is a fun, sweet, sexy story with low angst that you are sure to enjoy. The epilogue was perfect. Not to mention her fabulous book covers! Now I can’t wait to see what she is going to do next! Make sure you also check out the first book, Baking With A Rock Star, and also, The Best Kind of Mistake, book one in The Best Kind novella series!
I give this book 4,5 stars and really loved it.
The only thing I had a problem with was that there was a misunderstanding at the end of the book that could have been left out of the story. It kind of just felt like a filler. It was luckily resolved pretty quickly and that is why I didn’t subtract more than half a star.
I have been looking forward to Monica and Gabe’s story since I read about them in “Baking with a rockstar” about Monica’s best friend Charlie and Gabe’s younger brother Hudson. And The story definitely didn’t let me down.
I love the small town feel and all the characters that made up Gabe’s family and their friends.
Monica is a dancer who lived out her dream in a dance crew until she was in an accident and injured her knee. To get away from all her problems she moves to Brooksville and ends up living with Gabe, a famous high fantasy writer, a gorgeous nerd and such a sweet guy. In the beginning they flirt and and their banter is great but suddenly it ends and they just become best friends. After a year living in a slump and not dancing Monica gets help from Gabe to get out of this depression and she begins to dance again and she becomes more and more herself and the flirting, banter and sexual chemistry returns. But what will happen if they act on their chemistry can they last? And what will happen when she returns to her dance crew and he has to stay in Brooksville? Are they willing to through themselves into a relationship when they are sure it won’t last?
I can definitely recommend this book if you are into very sweet, funny, heartwarming small town friends to lovers romances.
