When two roommates spend one enthralling summer together, the result is unexpected: skimpy bathing suits, sexy fantasy book inspirations, and hot tub make-out sessions. Monica and I became roommates by accident. Well, if you can call her burning down my little cottage an accident. But my once sassy friend has turned into a hollow shell of herself, and my life isn’t exactly going according to … herself, and my life isn’t exactly going according to plan either.
To help both of us, I whisk her away to Lake Tahoe.
The last thing I expected from this trip is the burning attraction between us that’s threatening to set us on fire.
When both of our lives are back on track, will we be able to hold on to our special connection, or will our former lives be more tempting?
Can be read as a total standalone. Previously published as One Short Summer-Dancing With A Hot Nerd

Gabe and Monica are complete opposites. He is reserved and she is vivacious. Introduced through mutual friends and siblings, Gabe hosts Monica in his home after her injury. Living together their friendship grows in ways neither imagined. I loved the slow burn of this story. And honestly I adore all of the characters in Brooksville, but so far Gabe is my favorite. His selflessness in their relationship made me crazy at times. And Monica is a great character. I love how perfectly imperfect she is in dealing with her situation. She didn’t recover perfectly and has flaws and fears and doesn’t bounce back quickly. I love the realness of both characters. Jasmin creates characters that not only feel real, you wish they were so you could be friends with them. Well done.
I received an early copy of this book for an honest review.

This one had so many things I enjoyed starting with the Mitchell Family and ending with the perfect epilogue. Gabe was just the right mix of nerdy and hot, Monica’s sass was the balance he needed. These two completed each other as friends, so you can imagine how good it gets when they become a little bit closer over One Short Summer?!?! The author has an amazing way of weaving a story without all the angst, yet making you want to turn the pages and fall in love with the characters, flaws and all. I’m really excited to see what Brooksville brings us next!
Gabe and Monica are as much alike as they are similar. This is a slow burn story. After months of being together they both start to develop feeling for one another but with their busy careers, can they put in the effort to make it work. This is a story that will make you want to sit down and devour to see how it all turn out.
This was such a wonderful book, the first I have read from Jasmin Miller. Her character development was absolutely out-of-this world. They were deep, caring, communicative, and were provided with real world, honest emotions. It was so easy to be drawn into this world with the level of realism the author created. Both Gabe and Monica were hesitant to hope for more given their seemingly divergent paths. Would their self-denial cement their separation?
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Monica and Gabe have chemistry that sizzles and you just wait for that moment for when it’s too much to contain. There were many moments I wanted to shake them both just to make them give into their feelings and stop keeping each other in the friend zone.
Gabe is the sweetest guy and used his position in Monica’s life to help push her back to dancing after healing from her broken leg. And once Monica starts dancing again her spark comes back and she starts being the sassy Monica who had come to Brooksville the year before. And that’s when the chemistry flares up between Monica and Gabe again.
This book is the sweetest and the perfect feel good book of the summer.
Jasmin Miller wows again with her second standalone book in the Brooksville Novel series One Short Summer. This book drew me in from start to finish and I didnt want it to end. I really enjoyed this sweet and heartwarming tale.
This friends to lovers story just felt real and true. All of the emotions and actions made the story so much fun to read. Gabe and Monica’s love story is sweet and spectacular. Everything I love in a good romance novel. I got so many swoony feels from their story and a smile on my face even more often. The situation they found themselves in just added to the build-up of feelings and made for the sweetest love story between two friends.
I simply love the writing style of Jasmin Miller, every moment into Gabe and Monica’s relationship was a pleasure to read. Their ups and downs, the hot and heavy had me continually turning those pages. This was sweet, feel good and the perfect summer read.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a second Brooksville Novel and has all of our favorite residents in it. This book features writer Gabe brother of Hudson, and dancer Monica, friend of Charlie. Monica had badly broken leg and has been recovering and living in Gabe’s home for the last year. They have become best friends and Gabe decides it’s time to get Monica motivated to try dancing again since there is no medical reason not to be doing so. They go to his vacation home for a change since he is suffering from writer’s block. The change makes them aware of a growing attraction between them but they each worry separately if they can go further with this because of her friendship with his brother’s fiancée. This book also has interfering relatives, nasty exes and hot steamy scenes.
Gabe and Monica are complete opposites. Gabe and Monica became friends when she went to stay with him after an accident brought her to the small town. Living together, their friendship grows in ways they never imagined. She started dancing again and that’s a big step for her after a year in depressing mode because she can’t dance. But Monica doesn’t plan on staying in the small town forever…
At first, maybe its just me, but I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the two of them. But then when their friendship started to developed into something more, I looked past their chemistry and their romance just felt so absolutely genuine. All of the emotions and actions felt real which made the story so much fun to read. Gabe and Monica’s love story is sweet and spectacular.
Jasmin is such a great author and I enjoyed this book!

If you’ve read Baking with a Rockstar then like me you’ve been waiting for Gabe and Monica’s story since then. It was a long wait but it was worth it. This story was super cute and Gabe was just best friend goals!!! Not only are Monica and Gabe friends but they have been roommates for about a year, ever since Monica suffered was in an accident and came to visit her bff Charlie in Brooksville while in recovery.
Monica and Gabe hit it off from the start and he offers her a place to stay. They become friends immediately and grow super close. Gabe is always there for Monica and tries to bring her out of the dark whole she’s in due to not being able to dance for so long. As an attempt to bring the vivid, fun Monica back he takes her along with him on vacation to another small town where he owns a house and usually takes off for a “writer’s retreat”.
It works; Monica slowly starts getting out of the dark fog that was her mind and gets all her sass and lively personality back. Losing the fog also happens to make her see Gabe in a new light or more like, makes it impossible to ignore her attraction to him and their insane sexual tension. Soon not only does Monica start dancing again but she and Gabe also start dancing between the sheets and oh boy is it hot and so fun. I love these two.
If you love romcoms with a teeny tiny bit of emotion, friends to lovers or roommates to lovers, this book just might be for you. It’s also a perfect summer read and just a super swoony love story with an amazing hero. You also get to see a lot of Charlie, Hudson and Mira and it’s awesome.
Jasmin Miller brings us the story of Gabe and Monica.
Gabe and Monica became friends when she went to stay with him after an accident brought her to the small town. I enjoyed their chemistry. The opposites attract theory is so true with this one. A Dancer and Fantasy writer made quite an interesting duo.
This friends to lovers romance was sweet and predictable. That is why I enjoyed it so much. The predictability of the pair falling in love makes me so happy. I adore friends to lovers books and Jasmin Miller didn’t disappoint.
Once again, I devoured a book by Jasmin Miller!
I’ve been waiting for this story since BWRS!!!
This friends to lovers plot made it hard for me to stop reading! It was fantastic to read the chemistry between this couple! Gabe is the perfect book boyfriend,
I couldn’t stop laughing and crying and sighing with every chapter!
I fell in love with this characters since book one and now that they have their story I am so happy I read it!
I finished the book with a huge smile on my face and waiting for more books by this author!
I fell in love w/ Monica & Gabe’s characters in Charlie & Hudson’s book, Baking With A Rockstar, and even more so in their story! This opens about a year after book one, and we get to see into their friendship, which turns into so much more. I love their banter!!! They’re so sweet & Gabe lives up to his nickname of Charming. *grin*
We also get to see more of Gabe & Hudson’s family, and all the characters are written so well they just leap off the page! I’m hoping that their sisters are getting books, as well, because I’d love to read their HEA’s! Loved this story so much!!! : )
One Short Summer is a lighthearted but also entertaining story about Gabe and Monica.
This book drew me in from start to finish and I didnt want it to end at all. The support system and beautiful family dynamic with witty banter made this a book that I wanted to live in. Gabe is so swoonworthy and such a caring man especially when it comes to getting Monica out of her funk. Spending so much time together, will feelings come into play or can they part as friends, is Monica destined to be a dancer when she gets back into it??
I wholeheartedly love everything about Gabe and his family, so warm and caring and just sigh…. and there is just so much HEART and SOUL in this beautiful story, you can tell the author wrote this book from the bottom of the depths of her soul. I recommmend it to be a must read. JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!
Jasmin Miller has done it again with her second standalone book in the Brooksville Novel series One Short Summer. This story is so sweet it will give you a cavity so make an appointment with your dentist before reading. Gabe Mitchell, the main male character, is every woman’s dream, smart, strong, gorgeous and oh so thoughtful and considerate. Why can’t these men be real???? Miller is an incredible author and her writings demonstrate her talents in pulling the reader into the story and making you feel like you are actually there. One Short Summer by Jasmin Miller is worthy of 5 stars and needs to be on your summer reading list.
