Sizzling romance with steamy love scenes, also a must in her novels, but it’s the characters that make this a five star and a must-read. I laughed, I swooned, I gasped (totally didn’t figure out the murderer until Biggar revealed it), I cried. Highly recommend!Amazon ReviewerThis is the first story I’ve read by Jacquie Biggar. It won’t be the last. TEMPTED BY MR. WRONG hits all the right romance … right romance notes

When a rotten days gets worse, our tough lady doesn’t cave, although she wishes she could. Intrigue pops in where it shouldn’t and the step-brother she remembers is more of a hunk than she could have imagined! Murder, mayhem, and a little misunderstanding make for a fun ride.
A wonderful story of star-crossed love and second chances, Tempted by Mr. Wrong stole my heart, and the sexual tension and sizzling romance compounded by a murder mystery, kept me reading.
What’s a woman to do when she finds her brutal husband murdered on her front lawn, and the love of her life breathing down her neck? Tammy Joe—T.J. Hawthorne—tried to keep her passion at bay, but Jason’s sapphire eyes melted her heart…which made life more difficult since she was the number one suspect for her husband‘s murder. But Mr. Wrong never felt so right!
I love a good romantic suspense and author, Jacquie Biggar, hit this one out of the park with all the ingredients to keep me laughing, feeling the heat of TJ’s desire, and on the edge of my seat unraveling the mystery.
If you’re searching for an easy read with the perfect mixture of romance, heat, and page-turning suspense, don’t hesitate to grab Tempted by Mr. Wrong! I highly recommend this five-star read!
New families make for tempestuous days—at least in this story of love denied. When Jason and Tammy-Jo (T.J.) are teenagers their parents marry, making them step-siblings. By the time they’re seniors in high school, they’ve fallen in love, something that doesn’t fly well with Tammy’s father. When he intervenes and sends Jason packing, T.J. turns elsewhere to soothe her broken heart, following the path her father maps out for her by marrying a man destined for success.
Now it’s ten years later, Jason is on an undercover assignment for the SEC and Tammy’s caught in the middle once again. Her husband—who has been wretched to her—winds up murdered on their front lawn. There to investigate both T.J.’s husband and father, Jason has to keep his purpose a secret while reconnecting with his family—and that includes stirring up all the feelings he still holds for T.J.
If you enjoy romantic suspense, this book is one you won’t want to miss. The case that builds against T.J.’s deceased husband puts everyone in danger, including Jason’s team, his mother, step-father, and T.J. herself. Jason and T.J. navigate their feelings for each other with plenty of misunderstandings, matched only by the heat of undeniable attraction. As always, Biggar knows just how far to push her characters before bringing them to the realization they belong together. The interesting spin in this book is the familial connection and the complications it causes. Jason’s relationship with his stepfather, Sam, is bitter and combative, but Sam has a loving, caring marriage with Jason’s mother. A sticky situation that gets fully fleshed out at the end.
A breezy read with polished writing, dialogue that rings true, and characters who lodge in your heart, this is an entertaining read with a feel-good finish. 5 Stars!
Tempted by Mr. Wrong, a novel published in 2017 by Jacquie Biggar, is the first romantic suspense book I’ve read in a very long time. I previously read another novel in a different genre by this author but wanted to sample something at opposite end of the spectrum [of a normal read for me] this week. I love suspense but the romance stuff is fairly new to me. In the end, it was quite a winner. Let’s dive into the review…
Tammy-Jo, better known as TJ, has a bad track record with men. She had a bit of an illicit affair with a stepbrother, Jason, in her late teens (parents had only just married) but her father chased him away, causing a family drama that wouldn’t end for years. TJ married another guy to help out her father, as they went into business together… but what type of business was it exactly? We don’t know in the beginning, yet something seems foul as the husband ends up dead. We know it’s bad when TJ looks guilty and someone attacks her to collect missing evidence. As Jason helps protect his stepsister, almost ruin his own career, and stops her father from interfering again, he realizes he still loves her. But how does she feel about the man who hurt her all those years ago?
From the get go, readers know this isn’t just a sappy love story; no offense intended to readers who want that… I only mean… this has a whole lot more going on. Murder. Stalking. Revenge. Power struggles. All the typical suspense and mystery elements which kept me highly intrigued. TJ is a complex woman. At first, she seemed spoiled, but as you got to know her, she was heartbroken. Her father is controlling. Her stepmother is developing dementia or Alzheimer’s. Her husband was a jerk. Jason is all she has left, and it’s been a decade since she saw him. Right there… the hook to want her to win. I fell, and I think most readers will too. She’s multifaceted and grows on you quickly.
Biggar developed the suspense quite well. I was all set to cast the villain, and in the end, it’s more open-ended until a final decision is made. Who exactly started all the trouble years ago? It may not be what you think it is… and that’s why I really enjoyed this book. It had so much of what I usually love to see in my reads, plus some extra. There’s one lengthy and detailed romance scene between two characters, which of course is super sexy and physical and all that fun stuff. Sometimes I closed one eye and skimmed (to kinda get the picture) and others I invested in the details. I think I feel like a voyeur when I read those scenes, so I revert back to a 15-year-old boy and giggle. But that’s just me, as I can definitely say they are written very well. There was heat, lust, attraction, and intimacy — all in a good way!
The dramatic opening scene really sets the tone, and from there, it keeps you glued to the pages. I think I devoured it in about 2 hours one afternoon. Having finished two novels by this author, I can safely say she crafts a superb story, writes with easy yet intelligent fluidity, and knows how to capture her audience. I’ll definitely be reading more from her, and perhaps I’ll learn to love the love scenes one day too! 🙂
Time for romance, family, and sizzling suspense. Long ago lovers, Tammy-Jo and Jason’s reunion may start at the worst possible time (for them) but reading about it was immense fun (for me)! Personal and professional stakes are high for everyone in Magnolia, but there’s still time for romance and reconnecting with family. It’s all woven expertly into another 5-star story with heart and soul and sizzling suspense.
Definitely 5 stars!
This love story/murder mystery is a really great read. Tammie Jo (TJ) and Jason were separated in high school after their parents had recently married, and they had become related. Later she marries another man to help out her father as they were in “business” together. When she arrives home one evening she finds her husband dead on their front lawn. Fortunately for her Jason is in town as part of his job with the SEC and arrives on scene. He sets out to protect her while solving the murder and investigating her father.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but definitely not the last.

Tempted by Mr. Wrong
By: Jacquie Biggar
Narrated by: Alicia Corts
What happens when you trip over your dead husband while being chased by your stepbrother? Tammy Jo is the victim of circumstance. Her husband is suspected of bad business practices, leaving her in a lurch. She is not safe, and there are unanswered questions. Jason, her stepbrother is back in town undercover and investigating the case, and the two cannot escape their history. The two were romantically linked when they were teenagers, and the pull between them is still there. But will they get to the bottom of her husband’s plot? Will Jason blow his cover to keep her safe? This story has so much in it! It’s short, concise, well developed and so much fun! I had a blast getting to know TJ and Jason. The two have such great chemistry and yet I can feel a push pull til the end! The parents are an addition that is so good, with TJ’s dad and his protectiveness, and Jason’s mom fighting dementia. There is compassion, love, forgiveness and second chances all wrapped up with a thrill of suspense and mystery. The perfect listen for my afternoon.
Alicia Corts is a new to me narrator and I loved her performance. Great pacing and a variety of voices had me enveloped into the story waiting to see where our heroes would end up. It’s fast, fun and a good interpretation of the story.

Second chance at love romance with a twist of suspense, action and mystery. Great story!
What a story! I love Jacquie Biggar.
I loved it
This book has it all, suspense, action and romance. Really like the humor throughout the story. Great read.
This story takes us to Magnolia, SC. Jason McIntyre
is sent to investigate a SEC crime. A family member
could be involved.
Tammy Jo Hawthorne, Jason’s stepsister & first love
discovers the body of her murdered husband. Now
he needs to keep her safe plus investigate a murder
and the SEC crime. Are these two things related?
An edge of the seat romantic suspense.
Jason McIntyre is returning to Magnolia, S.C., but not for a family reunion but to investigate a SEC crime that might involve family members. His first love and stepsister, Tammy Jo Hawthorne, has just found her almost ex-husband, Timothy, murdered. Jason had found Tammy (T.J.) walking along the road in a rain storm, offered her a lift and was there when she found the body. Upon discovering Jason & T.J.’s affair, her father is the reason Jason left town. Is her father involved in the SEC investigation? Who murdered Timothy? Is T.J. involved in the investigation? Jason says no, but his team is not so sure. An intriguing romantic suspense story as Jason does his best to find out who is behind the murder while trying to keep T.J. safe. I have read many of Ms. Biggar’s books and I am always able to “escape” for a few hours into a great story with wonderful characters. (by paytonpuppy)
Loved it!
I received an ARC from the author as a new member of her Review Crew. It is the first book that I have read from the author, but definitely not my last. I’m hooked. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Tammy-Jo Hawthorne and Jason McIntyre became step siblings when her father married his mother. Her mother had died of cancer, while his father had died in prison after committing armed robbery. A year apart, Tammy-Jo eventually managed to seduce Jason, and they made plans of a future together, until her father threatened him and forced him to leave suddenly, without telling her why. Her father then convinces her to marry Timothy Hawthorne, for social and financial gains, but she grew to loathe the unfaithful bastard. It the midst of divorce, all comes to a head, when she is thoroughly embarrassed at the country club that they belong to, after he has her car towed away, phone cut off and all her bank and credit cards cancelled. Walking home, she is rescued by none other they Jason, who has been gone for ten years. The next surprise, is she trips over Timothy’s body on their front lawn. She doesn’t know that Jason now works for the feds and while he is after her ex-husband and father, he is not going to allow any of the fallout to hurt Tammy-Jo or his mother. So not only a romance but a murder mystery, which puts Tammy-Jo unknowingly in danger.
Wonderful characters and an intriguing plot make this an exciting and steamy read. Most likely some of the secondary characters will be featured in a future book.
Great characters including the secondary characters. The hero was portrayed not only as a romantic but was also quite witty. The heroine had my sympathy since she was never sure how the people around would react to the various situations. The murder mystery held my interest until the end. Well written and well edited.
3.5***
A steamy read, one Jacquie does well.
Way too much detailed sex which was unnecessary to the plot. Unsure about the characters early in the book and what their role was in the plot. I stopped reading about half way through.
Not that bad that Mr Wrong
3.5
The story mixes investigation and romance. It’s well written, but I found it ultimately kept simple either way. In fact, looking at the intro and the first chapter featuring Tammy Jo (TJ), I would have expected more drama or bitterness from the characters of TJ and Jason, her stepbrother in law.
Their relationship is certainly complex, but it evolves when TJ’s husband is murdered. TJ doesn’t know who Jason has become, and she finds herself at the heart of a fraud investigation in which she herself is threatened with nothing left.
