It has been a while since I listened to or read a historical western, and it took me a bit to get back into the ebb and flow of it. Once I did, I remembered how much I truly loved them! This is post civil war Denver and Annie and Steven have a previous connection. I hadn’t read the previous book, and it was easy to get to know them without that information. The sadness and despair of the situation they are both in is beautifully conveyed in the narration. The words that tell their story keep you riveted as it unfolds. The affection and care they have for each other is evident and being with them as they discover how to express and share it was beautiful!
A steamy novel
Annie isn’t your typical heroine from Western historical romances, but she’s brilliant nonetheless. The story continues with characters we met and loved in “Seduced” and plays out in some wonderfully unexpected ways. I love this series and am off to get the third book!
Good depiction of post civil war PTSD and what we wish we could fix, but can’t. Original characters with flaws who are still strong and lovable. Good read that makes you want to read about the other characters.
A nice short story.
Was a very good book, kept me interested.
I liked this book enough to read the other two. I like the fragile characters based on real experiences of people living in that time. I don’t usually read books with any type of sex scenes, but Ms. O’Keefe managed to write them in such a way I did not find them so offensive as to quit the book. For me , the story was worth the read .
It does not end the way you would expect!
enjoyed, would recommend
Highly recommend reading this series! Loved it!
Read to the end, but book wasn’t very believable. Would not knowingly read another by this writer.
Unusual Characters with depth
Great read. Got lost in this book. Couldn’t put down.
Brought out parts of history I was unfamiliar with referring to the prisons of the civil war.
Good story, the characters were very realistic and I could see this being more the reality in post civil war. I thought about the characters long after I finished the book.
I did not like the graphic language !
This was a quick fun read with likable characters and the sex scenes were sweet and not over the top.
Sex,sex,sex!
I loved this book. The characters were so real. I couldn’t stop reading.
Nicely written. Tough subject that was dealt with but not taken to a medical or extreme level. Made the reading much easier. I liked that both the H and H weren’t these drop dead gorgeous hunkie characters like is somewhat usual in romances. They were beautiful to each other and that is what mattered. Both had issues and both helped the other deal with them.
I recommend.
