Good calming reading. Enjoyed.
Very enjoyable book!
I really enjoyed reading this story about faith, overcoming the past and learning to trust and love.
Nice story in historical setting. It gives a glimpse into th hardships of life in settling of our country, and the need to put your trust in God. Enjoyed reading this one.
A clean read, without the bazillion typos so prevalent in ebooks these days.
Sweet story.
Loved it, couldn’t put it down!!
Excellent
Enjoyed it . If there is really a man anywhere like Anker , I’d love to meet him. Seems to good to be true, but I like to hope there are some .
Very good book in every sense. Gods love is important in love and family.
I loved this book! Such an interesting plot!
Lena Stevens has had a troubled life which was starting to get better until her husband dies. Anker is the husbands best friend. He promised to look after the widow and her child. Then her house burns down early in the winter. Anker wants to take her into his home and provide for her and the child. The neighbors insist that they get married. They agreed until spring and then to end the marriage. All that time, in a cabin, in the winter, facing hardship together, learning about each other what could possibly happen.
Lena experienced much loss early in life. Mother deceased, father missing, forced labor at boarding school. Married by 17, widowed and homeless at 20. She agrees to a temporary marriage to neighbor Anker during the winter. Will she continue to keep score on repaying kindness and help? When will she discover opportunities for change in her struggles?
What a situation to be in. Turned out to be really good.
It was a can`t put down book. So real because we do not turn to the Lord easily. A day to day struggle but when we choose to follow God even challenges are not an issue because we know we will get through them.
It is what I would call Christian Chick-lit, but the story was nice albeit predictable. I am partial to Norwegian prairie homesteaders since they are part of my heritage, so it is fun for me to read about the era and people like my grandparents who settled that part of the Midwest. It wasn’t a preachy book, but the author made her points. It is escapist in a sense although the anti-racial prejudice theme figures in some. Disclosure: I am an elderly man, so for me to like it says something, either about the book or me. You figure it out.
It was an excellent book on love. It was shown in the true sense of love for a true follower of Christ. So very good.
Enjoyed the story line. Writing quality was moderate.
Repetive. The storyline was interesting, just filled with a TON of repetition todrive home the emotions the characters were dealing with.
Loved the characters ~ Loved the story!
