I was not expecting “Tell Me to Stop” (nook) to be a cliffhanger. The overview does not specify that it is. Only after finishing the book did I understand that I would have to read three more books to reach the end of the story.
The plot is good as is the writing. I would call this a “dark” story. Maybe I am naive but I felt that Olive’s mother’s actions were unbelievable.
Chapter 24 threw me off. The “a little bit later” scene is inconsistent with the previous chapter and with Chapter 25.
Charlotte never disappoints with her books. Keeping you wanting more each time. Though this a quick read you get enthralled into the story of Olivia and Nicholas quickly.
Olivia receives a anonymous check in the mail. She decides to put it the bank to pay off her debts. Upon doing so another random gift occurs. Hawaii for a week to meet the anonymous donor. Once they meet she is unsure of his request. She runs as fast as she can back to reality. Though she dreams of him and his offer. She has debt to pay and has no one else to turn to. Does she ask for his help or find another way?
Advanced Copy Review
This is the first book in the Tell Me series. This book is intriguing, and it has mystery, drama and suspense. I thought the characters Olive and Nichols were interesting. I look forward to reading the next book.
I read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
I have met mothers, but Olive’s mum is a despicable excuse of a human being. How can you ask such of your daughter and then she takes it a step further to the point of no return.
Utterly spell binding, read in one sitting as could not put it down
I liked the clever marketing that Charlotte did of previous series
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow, could not put his book down. It started with mysterious check that took Olive on an adventure of her life. the mix of characters and stories blew me away. can’t wait to continue on this adventure of life with Olive and Nicholas. Well done Charlotte Byrd
3.5 stars–TELL ME TO STOP is the first novella in Charlotte Byrd’s contemporary, adult TELL ME erotic, romantic suspense serial focusing on Nicholas Crawford, and Olive Kernes.
Told from first person perspective (Olive Kernes) TELL ME TO STOP follows Olive Kernes in the aftermath of an anonymous gift that allows our heroine to pay off her debt but a debt paid becomes a debt owed when the mysterious benefactor demands something in return. Enter Nicholas Crawford, a man who reveals his connection to Olive, a connection that pulls at the guilt strings of our story line heroine. Panicked and alone, Olive walks away from an offer she should not refuse, an offer she will be forced to accept, in the end.
Olive Kernes’ life begins to spiral out of control. From a debt owed, to a threat against her life, Olive is caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place, a rock who will be both her savior and her captor.
TELL ME TO STOP is a fast paced, intriguing look at secrets and betrayal. Charlotte Byrd reveals just enough information to peak the reader’s interest. TELL ME TO STOP ends on a cliff-hanger, of sorts.
On that note, I read the first two books out of order-something I do not recommend for a serialized story line.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I felt sorry for Olive and found myself wanting to see her get some kind of happiness in her life. I liked that the author mentioned herself in the book. However, I did not like the scene where it foreshadowed what was to happen in the future. I would rather wait and read it as it happens. It was almost like reading the ending of a book and going back to read the rest. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Love this book and series can’t wait for the next book!!!!!! Highly recommended!!!!!
This book is the first in the Tell Me series. Charlotte Byrd has created another fantastic read with a roller coaster story that grabs you from the first page. The plot contains drama, mystery, suspense, and romance. The characters (Olive and Nicholas) have incredible chemistry. I could not put this book down until the end which is a cliffhanger. I’m anxious to read the second book in this series which will be released in September. Charlotte’s writing is always creative, unpredictable, and addictive! This book is well worth the purchase price.
I received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest and voluntary review.
Tell Me to Stop was a great fast-paced story w/suspense, drama and twists and turns. The chemistry between Olive and Nicholas was undeniable. Ends in a cliffhanger – can’t wait for Tell Me to Go.
I loved it.
Just what you would hope for and expect in a Charlotte Byrd book. Heat, mystery, deceit, an unexpected developments that take you in new directions, with characters that you can easily get into. If you’ve read this author’s books before, this one has the same feel, rhythm, and pace, lets you get to know the characters then gets you into the nitty-gritty of the story. There is one drawback, that it’s a cliffhanger story so you have to wait for the next installment, not necessarily a bad thing, but, I hate waiting! I received an advanced copy and am providing my own honest, unsolicited opinion.
I love this book the storyline is great and well written this book is the start of this series of books and I feel like it going to be a great series just by the first book
Olive Has a big school loan debt and when she receives a check in the mail for the exact amount due, she is torn whether it’s real or fake. Should she deposit it or throw it away? She finally decides to deposit and see if it is actually real. Once in her account t, she pays off her debts. Then She receives an invitation from her benefactor in Hawaii. Nicholas has a proposition for her. Can she spend 365 days and nights with him portraying his significant other? She says “no” and leaves Hawaii. Her mother is a mean, horrible woman. She gets herself into trouble by borrowing $50,000 for gambling and expects Olive to bail her out by prostituting herself. An exciting beginning to a new series. Can’t wait for more.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Charlotte Byrd’s TELL ME TO STOP is a great start to the series. It’s well written, A great storyline, drama filled, betrayal, suspense, danger, tittilating, exciting, great characters, sizzling chemistry and the all dreaded cliffhanger. It does continue in TELL ME TO GO. I highly recommend this book and author.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced readers copy
OH MY GOODNESS…
I can’t even form the words to say about this book.
I do know one thing, I will definitely will not be saying STOP anytime soon.
I am so excited about Nick and Olive… their chemistry is so electric and has captured the very heart of all that they come into contact. Including myself.
I’m so looking forward to seeing more.
I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book and any opinions expressed within this review are solely and uniquely made by me and I am happily leaving this review.
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for my review. This book is the beginning of a great series. I love when I can follow characters into new books and see how relationships develop.
This was an amazing read! Of course, I don’t expect anything less with Charlotte Byrd’s books. She’s such a great author. The book starts out a little slow, but not too bad. Olive has a ton of student loans and receives a letter and check paying all them off. She finds out more of who the mystery person is and a little of why. It was so sweet and I wanted to cry. But I would still like to know more about Nicolas and the past and what role it will play. I feel like there’s more he isn’t telling her. Gosh I hope the next book doesn’t have Olive’s mom in it. I couldn’t stand her. And that little twist involving her surprised me.
If you’ve read some of this author’s books, you will at first think this one is like a past book. Don’t worry, it’s enough difference to not even compare. The book really takes off at the half way point. I wish someone would give me some money like this. Heck, I would spend a year with them in Maui lol. I loved this book.
What starts off as a gift, turns into a debt that needs to be repaid. But at what cost? Olive and Nicholas. You can feel the heat coming off the pages of the book as you’re reading them. It is like a slow rolling boil that will bubble up and flow over the pot and onto the stove. Positively great start to a new series. I just know this is going to be just as great as all the others. I love Charlotte Byrd books. They keep you hanging but in a good way. Can’t wait for the next one.
What can I say!? This is a great start to this new series. You meet Nicholas, and he helps Olive out of a debt. He wants something from her. I don’t want to tell you too much. It is much better if you read it. I couldn’t put it down. I was pulled in from the beginning. The storyline was catching and I loved all the characters. There is suspense, drama and an agreement with a promise. Will that promise be broken, and if it is, who will break it first. You definitely need to grab this book up. I can’t wait to read Tell Me To Go and see what else is I store for these two.
