I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that’s the PG version. He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies. And just like that, our friendship was off to a great start.Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder.Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation. He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work.Correction: where I work again, because I was … work.
Correction: where I work again, because I was fired from my last job.
And dumped.
And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right?
Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends. We shouldn’t have become roommates.
And we really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.)
I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.
Teardrop Shot is a 107k standalone with brand new characters.

I need more stars! Five are not enough! This beautiful and most perfect story deserves more stars!!
Really, my love for this book knows no limit. This was my third book by this author so far and I’m starting to realize that she has a very rare talent because her stories are never as they seem. I absolutely love their uniqueness and how the author surprises me every time with her unexpected ways and fabulous writing.
When you read a lot of books from a certain genre they tend to be very similar at times. This one though, I’ve never read a story like it even though one might think it could be too mainstream with a classic genre like sports romance. That’s a reason why this author is brilliantly talented. She takes something mundane and normal and turns it into something special and new.
Charlie was dumped and fired. One might think it couldn’t get any worse, right?! Well, wrong. But when a job opportunity presented itself to her, she had no other choice but to take it. Little did she know that her favorite basketball team and player were her new clients. Freak outs were expected but never would she have dreamed for Reese Forster to notice her. Not only did he pay attention to her, but he also didn’t look at her like others do, as if she was crazy, because he saw her for who she really was. An odd friendship developed between them but how long could this go on with him being a pro basketball player and her being held down with all that baggage she carried around?!
I devoured this unputdownable book. I loved Charlie and her quirky ways. My heart broke for her already in the beginning when I didn’t even know what she went through or what was going on. There was a sadness to her, behind all her crazy, and it broke my heart. You can imagine how soul shattering it was when her secret was revealed. I cried a lot with this book but it wasn’t an ugly cry story. It was just so emotional and also somewhat personal that it touched me deeply. I don’t have the same story than Charlie but I know what it meant to put on a brave face and hide your true feelings deep inside where they start eating at you. You can let it destroy you or you can open up and let them out. Either way is very hard and not possible to manage alone.
Reese wasn’t one of the typical heroes. He wasn’t the asshole kind or the sweet loving guy. He was a pro basketball player and a loner. He had his own shadows and struggles to deal with and the things that were revealed made him very likeable. I really felt with him. He seemed hurt, closed off and didn’t let people in easily which was not only because of his job. He was a great and caring guy but still somewhat an enigma. Definitely very intriguing.
These characters were like a breath of fresh air and so unique. I loved how Charlie kept Reese on his toes and I laughed so much. But their story also brought tears to my eyes and made my heart ache. They went through some very tough situations in life and it broke me so bad. My heart shattered for them.
This story was a perfect example of why I became a book-lover. It had all the feels, it had that familiarity of being new but also personal. It made me forget my surroundings and wrapped me up in a blanket of comfort. It made me feel loved but also heartbroken at the same time. It broke me but didn’t destroy me. It got me and caught me. It was my aching best friend.
A unique narrative that evokes a wide range of emotions. Tijan incorporates a level of humor within the pages that gives an easy tension break from the heavier subject matters. It was completely unexpected, especially from this author, but she delivered without flaw. The characters were brilliant and captured the reader’s heart the moment they were introduced. This novel is genius…fantastically so 😉
Thank you to #SocialButterflyPR and #Tijan for this ARC
Teardrop Shot by Tijan completely took me by surprise and blew every expectation I had for this book out of the water! What I thought was going to be another celebrity crush book became so much more. The writing is incredible and deeply emotional. I’m positive I had every emotional experience as I found myself laughing uncontrollably, crying actual tears, and falling deeper into this world with every page.
I really feel for me that Teardrop Shot hit its stride midway and the last half stole my breath away. While in the beginning I was at times semi confused by the quirkiness of the heroine, I later realized it was all a part of a well laid plot, and everything came together in the best way! I’m not giving anything away – go in blind with this one! Don’t you dare read any spoilers! Teardrop Shot is perfect in its mystery, and
An epic journey of loss, love, acceptance, and healing, Teardrop Shot is sure to make you laugh, make you cry, and touch your heart in a way you won’t expect. An incredible read not to be missed!
I received an ARC in return for an honest review. I’m not gonna lie, the first half of this book I was really unsure about it. I really didn’t like Charlie’s weirdness with the questions. I wasn’t understanding why Reese was interested in talking to her. I eventually got over it and was not able to put the book down. Another good read by Tijan to add to the list!
Tijan’s books never disappoint. I think this is one of my favorites if not my favorite by her.
I’ve never seen my personality in a heroine until Charlie.
She’s my twin. I ask the most bizarre questions so I totally related to her.
I loved her resilience. I can’t imagine going through what she went through.
Reese..swooning…I know nothing about basketball but was captivated.
This book was so touching, romantic.
It gives you hope. It makes you believe in love.
Definitely a must read for 2019.

I’ve been a huge fan of Tijan since her Fallen Crest series so naturally I jumped at the chance to read this new adult, standalone, sport romance from her. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect after reading the blurb, but how could you go wrong with:
“I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.”
This book surprised me in the best way. So emotionally deep, there were times I had to put the book down and take a breathe. I wasn’t emotionally prepared for Reese and Charlie’s story and it sucker punched me right in the feels. This story is exceptionally well written and one I will definitely be re-reading time and again. Reese Forster and his NBA teammates are hiding out at a training camp where Charlie works after Reese’s brother has once again done something that could tarnish Reese’s name. Charlie is back working at the camp after a break up and pretty funny proposition from said ex’s grandfather. The two of them just clicked the minute they met.
Charlie was a fantastic character. She is quirky and her defense mechanisms made me love her even more. When she was out of her comfort zone or too many feelings started to get through, she had a horrible case of verbal diarrhea and would just ask the most random, asinine questions. Charlie also liked to run from her problems. She had a lot of growing up to do, and it was amazing to see her come out of her shell and confront those feelings head on. When you find out the underlying reason for her emotional turmoil, you will 100% understand why she chose to shut down in the first place. Sometimes not feeling anything is better than the pain. In the end, she was strong, confident, and most importantly, at peace with her decisions and her past.
Then there’s Reese. While it took me a little bit to really love Charlie, I think I loved Reese the moment we were introduced to him. Starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder, gorgeous, wealthy, and sexy, and everything in between that a girl could ask for. He’s also dealing with a lot, namely family issues, and staying at camp was supposed to be a much needed break from the press and the stress of keeping everything right with his family. Basketball is Reese’s life and he’s most content when he’s on the court. A 3 week stay at the camp the press didn’t know about was just what he needed. What he wasn’t expecting at Echo camp was to find companionship with Charlie, the quirky camp employee.
Charlie and Reese hit it off pretty quickly. Charlie being a huge Reese fan, couldn’t control the verbal diarrhea around him because she was so nervous. imagine meeting your biggest fan and the first thing out of her mouth was “What’s your criteria for determining who you choose to be a fuck buddy”. While Reese was maybe a bit put off by it but mostly amused, he quickly realized it was just a facade Charlie used to mask her emotions. He saw through right through it and chipped the walls down, piece by piece. Their chemistry was intense but their emotional bond was something else. Charlie and Reese were the strength each other needed. Their love was beautiful, passionate and raw.
“He made me buzz. My heart. My mind. My soul-my inner comedian was gagging at the cheesiness, but it was true. I was a goner, and I was slipping further away each moment Reese was in my world.”
Teardrop Shot is a slam dunk that I highly recommend. In my opinion, this is Tijan’s deepest book and her best writing yet. You don’t want to miss out on this brilliant story of love, loss, strength, and friendship.
I have no words.. I am completely gutted.
EVERYONE needs to meet Reese!
I don’t even know where to start with a review for this book.. It was spectacularly heartbreaking and totally fulfilling all at the same time.
Charlie decides to take a job for a few weeks at the camp she used to work at, she knows it will be hard seeing all her old friends, but it’s a step she needs to take. Life is cruel and unyielding. It’s been a long time since she has seen her old friends and so much has happened since she last saw them she doesn’t know what will happen. She has no idea who the campers are that are coming, so when her idol/celebrity crush Reese Forster walks in she forgets how to form a word.
Reese Forster is a professional basketball player, he is intense and determined. When Charlie first watches him practice he’s like a machine, completely relentless.
Reese and Charlie form a weird friendship that is seriously adorable. Charlie is quirky and weird and a total dork with the strangest random questions, but that makes her who she is and I loved it! She was witty and hilarious. Some of her questions had me barking out a laugh.
When everything surfaced and came to light I cried for Charlie, for Reese, for everything they had both been through. Even for Damian. It was sobering, and just completely gutted me. I can’t imagine the pain Charlie went through. The hurt, the loss, the guilt. Gah, I just can’t. It hurt me so much. My heart pained for them and I cried for them, with them, I don’t even know I just cried..
This book was insanely good, it was everything you expect from Tijan plus some. I loved it and all that it represented. I can’t wait until it is out for the rest of the world to read. Thank you Tijan for the ARC. This book was just everything. I had so many emotions and I caught myself smiling like a loon in public, I probably got crazy looks but I was too spellbound by the story to care. Well done Tijan, you deserve all the stars in the universe for this one!
Oh my gosh. I am so full of emotions after finishing this book, I might burst!
This has got to be one of my favorite books that Tijan has written.
It will have you busting a gut laughing, crying happy and sad tears, and having your heart feeling so happy by the end, it might burst. She makes you feel everything in the best way.
I absolutely loved Charlie and her weird quirkyness. Her awkwardness in the beginning and throughout the story was hilarious! Oh my god and when these two got going together, i freaking loved it.
Damn. Both Charlie and Reese grow so much throughout the story. The character development was one of my favorite thing’s about this book.
The themes in this were tugging at my heart the whole time. I just wanted to hug both of them!
And Reese, oh my gosh. I loved him so much. I loved the fact that he wasn’t the typical alpha male. He cares so much for Charlie and was so calm and listened to her, and the way he just understands her like no one else can. His character really was something special, they both are. Ugh, my heart!
I really enjoyed the way these two communicated. It wasn’t your typical fighting and misunderstandings because they wouldn’t talk anything out. They were very honest with each other about both of their flaws and misgivings, and it was very refreshing. They both have some major baggage but they are, for the most part, open about it with each other.
This book truly is something special. If you want a book that will have you laughing, crying, and having a full and happy heart by the end, then do yourself a favor and pick this book up immediately.
Tijan is one of my favorite authors and this book just further proves why. Five amazing heart warming stars.
Tijan writes beautiful stories with big feelings and big moments where we witness the character slowly grow through little life moments and it’s so glorious to read. I don’t know how she does it, but her characters crawl into my soul and set up a permanent camp where I remember them long after I’ve finished reading them.
Charlie lost herself in a relationship years ago. She has recently resurfaced and thankfully her old friends won’t let her disappear again, even though every instinct inside her says to run and hide. It is with pure desperation, due to lack of job, lack of funds, and some small voice that says she really needs to get her life back in order, that Charlie says yes to the job that her old friend, Trent, offers her.
Working back at the summer camp wasn’t exactly her idea of a dream job, but little did she know that her dream team, The Seattle Thunder, would be the ones occupying the grounds for the next several weeks. The one problem Charlie has…weird question vomit. She was kind of a hot mess. Her life, her finances, and yeah…her questioning when she was nervous. Aside from that, everything was great. At least that is what she told herself.
“You’re a little odd, aren’t you?” I snorted. “Fantastically so.”
Meeting Reese Forester was a dream come true, becoming his friend, was an added bonus, becoming more than friends….that was complicated. Charlie wasn’t looking for a relationship. She is a shell of her former self and doesn’t need further complications. She warns him time and again, but Reese has a pull she wasn’t expecting, he continues to open up her heart and mend her broken wounds. Between Charlie’s old friends and her new ones, it’s nearly impossible to stay hidden and damaged, but she has to make a choice to make, run away and keep hurting or run towards a new beginning.
Teardrop Shot is quirky, emotional, romantically steamy and full of all the feels. It’s mending old friendships, mending one’s self, and forming new bonds. This entire book is such a fantastic read, it will stay with you long after you finish it.
Flipping heck! I am an emotional wreck! What a truly wonderful story, it was funny, it was romantic, it was so so emotional (for me especially, dementia is a disease I’ve had first hand dealings with). Okay, no more emotional talk, let’s talk basketball, I know nothing about it, but I’m going to make it my mission to watch a game and find out more, especially if there are some real life players like Reese or Juan, because let me tell you, those guys leave all the rest in the dust, they’re perfect book boyfriends. The story follows the quirky and very heartbroken Charlie, an extreme basketball fan. So when she finds herself working the courts at a training camp hosting her dream team with her dream player, NBA superstar, Reese Forster, things start looking up for her (if only she can get her head screwed on straight and stop all the verbal diarrhoea spewing out of her mouth). Reese also has his own issues, he’s dealing with a not so easygoing unsupportive family. Together they eventually learn to let each other in, and things are looking peachy, until that little bit of doubt creeps in and tries to ruin everything. Have they got what it takes to take that extra step, do they even want to try? Strangely wonderful characters, a wonderful story, with wonderful writing, as usual. I was lost in the story, addicted from the first to the very last page. If I could give a book more than five stars, this would be it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author’s publicist, this is my honest review.
I’m not even sure how I feel about this book…That’s not true. I feel too many things. I feel happy. I feel devastated. I feel overwhelmed.
Tijan throws a lot at the reader in Teardrop Shot. It’s intense and heartbreaking. Nothing can prepare you for the direction this is going. You can only hold on to the handle bars and hug yourself tight; believing in hope the whole time. Because unlike a floating Teardrop Shot, this book will not be a graceful arc and perfectly placed fall into the net for the reader. No, you maybe watching this beautiful story of love and basketball but you are doing it from center ice (with no skates mind you) mid Stanley Cup final like a newborn Bambi.
Enjoy Charlie and her special brand of questions. I certainly did. Enjoy the patience, kindness, and care of dealing with such a delicate situation. Embrace Reese because he is mine now. Every sexy inch of him!
