I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that’s the PG version. He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies. And just like that, our friendship was off to a great start.Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder.Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation. He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work.Correction: where I work again, because I was … work.
Correction: where I work again, because I was fired from my last job.
And dumped.
And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right?
Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends. We shouldn’t have become roommates.
And we really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.)
I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.
Teardrop Shot is a 107k standalone with brand new characters.

This book broke my heart in so many beautiful ways . There is no other book out there like this one. It was so hard for me to put down and once I finished I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Charlie is my kind of heroine. Her jokes and her running mouth had me constantly in laughing mode when I wasn’t sad.
Reese (HOT) a total softy when it came to Charlie. The moment he laid eyes on her it was hard for him to move them away.
They became fast friends and their friendship evolved to “friends with benefits” mode. Their banter was hilarious at times and I loved how Reese understood Charlie, he loved the fact that she was quirky, funny and beautiful. This girl was the whole package.
The things that they both go through is not easy for either of them. They have similar problems that neither one of them like to talk about but Charlie confided in him so much that she told him what she was going through and that’s when Reese opened up and told her his problems as well. This is the moment I started swooning because this is where they both fell for each other not even knowing it.
Teardrop Shot is at the top of my favorites for this year!!
Tijan has done it again with her newest romance! Teardrop Shot is everything you want in a romance. Humor, lust, sports, awkwardness, angst, friendship, and sexy characters. Tijan has a way of surprising me every single time. I know when I pick up one of her books I’m going to be entertained. But the emotions always catch me off guard. Her writing is getting better. Her characters deeper and her stories more meaningful. Charlie is a huge basketball fan. She’s also quirky and a little crazy. Her life is complicated and she’s just trying to get through the day. When she gets an offer from an old friend for a job she can’t turn it down. She realizes she missed her friends. A lot. She still says kooky things and acts a little crazy, but they still love her. That’s friendship. Then she finds out her favorite basketball team is going to be there. With her. For weeks. Reese is a starting point guard and he’s fantastic at his job. Basketball saved him and it’s his lifeline now. Then he meets the crazy chick working at camp. She says the strangest things and does this thing where she asks questions. And to her surprise, he answers them. She’s nuts but he can’t help but like her. She’s hot and quirky but he doesn’t have time for women. But there’s just something about her. She makes him laugh. Lets him forget his own troubles. They become friends. Share intimate stories of their families and lives and eventually more. Reese wants more. Charlie doesn’t know what she wants. She knows she wants him, but is that enough? They have to figure out how to move forward. Together. But can they? I loved the relationship between Reese and Charlie. It’s complicated and simple at the same time. They have an obvious attraction, but it’s more than that. There’s a connection that goes beyond the physical. They just get each other. When you decide you want to put it all on the line for happiness you have to be true to yourself. You have to make mistakes before you can know what you really want. Charlie and Reese fight to be together. For their happiness and for love.
I have been obsessed with Tijan since her Fallen Crest series from day one and seriously will read anything that she writes. Her stories are compelling and addicting and I can not get enough. Reese and Charlie were so well matched. The banter in this story was so well written and it coupled well with the serious aspects of the story.
When Charlie meets her idol, basketball star Reese Forster, she has no idea that her life will be irrevocably changed. Without giving away any spoilers, I liked this story and how deep Reese and Charlie were connected. Being completely truthful here, I loved Reese right away as I found him to be sexy, broody and full of delicious intensity. Charlie on the other hand was a lot to take in. While I understoood her pain and the tragedy in her life, her quirky personality and nature to ask any and every question was very offputting and somewhat distracting from the plot and the meat and bones of the story.
Overall, I was hooked on this amazing story of Charlie finding herself again after cutting herself off from the important people in her life and rebounding from the guilt and pain in her life. Fantastic job! 4 stars! ~Ratula
TIJAN DONE IT AGAIN!
Everybody who knows me a little know that this woman is one of my unicorn author.
I love every book which came from her keyboard and laptop.
This time was the same!
When I saw Teardrop Shot first time I knew that I will throw all books which I was reading and take only this one – story of Reese and Charlie.

Tijan brings out all the feels in Teardrop Shot.
Charlie and Reese were entertaining to say the least. The banter between the two was hilarious. Charlie and her quirky personality and Reese just so chill but troubled made the pair go well together. They understood each other with all the pain in their life. I enjoyed the slow burn as they went from friends to lovers.
This story had it all. You will find yourself in tears of sorrow, happiness and laughter. Tijan takes the W with this sports romance.
4 Stars!
The Review:
Wonderful. Amazing! ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!
Story/Characters…
The past few years for Charlie have been heartbreakingly painful. Once happy, it was all taken away by a force she couldn’t fight. When we meet her, she’s just had one more life knockdown. But in the middle of all that brokenness, an old friend appears and takes her back to a part of her younger years where things were less complicated.
At the camp she used to work at, she reconnects with old friends and her past self. She gets some insight and time away, but the hard knocks aren’t through with her just yet. She’s still lost. She’s closed herself off. From people and from feelings. She masks her pain with sarcasm, jokes and offbeat, lighthearted banter. But all of that makes Charlie one of the BEST heroine’s in romance I’ve ever read. I LOVED her personality. She might not have thought so, but she had a strength that was admirable. And she rocked the quirky. This chick… wow, I couldn’t help but follow her down the rabbit hole. She was just that endearing.
When she meets her idol, she’s adorably tongue-tied and spouts the craziest things. But Resse Forster, starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder, has seen crazy, and Charlie isn’t it. He’s at the camp to escape his own problems, and the last thing he thought he’d find was something he wouldn’t be able to walk away from. Her pull is undeniable and what starts as an amusing, entertaining friendship, turns into “more” real quick. For both of them. It’s passionate, heartfelt and it invokes feelings in Charlie she thought she’d never feel again.
So what does she do? Read and find out.
This story was AMAZINGLY well told. The subject matter of this book toed a grey line of what should you do, what could you do and how you could have handled such a situation. If written just a little differently, it would have been easy for Charlie’s character to be disliked. But that’s not the case at all. Not even a little. The author handled it BEAUTIFULLY! I LOVED Charlie, so much. She was true to the end. Her happy future was smashed by fate, but as she said, that didn’t stop the feelings or the love and she was true to that all the way through. Even when love presented itself to her again, she was consistent and real.
And Reese? Boy, oh boy, that man was HOT. He was the PERFECT hero. Patient, kind, loving and generous. He had his own issues, and it would have been easy for him to walk away from her baggage, or get jealous and think it wasn’t worth it. But he didn’t. He stayed. He understood. And that’s just what she needed. And did I mention the man was HOT? Cuz, he totally was! His swoon power was off the charts!
Annnnnd, I have to mention, Reese and Charlie’s chemistry was seductive! They were so much fun to read.
The Wrap Up:
This author has a talent for writing unique main characters with a charming supporting cast. They are witty, full of life, sometimes heartbreakingly tragic and sometimes so real, it makes my heart pound while I walk their journey with them. But she always makes them relatable, all the while dealing with issues and situations we can all connect with in some way. Their strength is inspirational. This read was just like that. It was emotional, moving, stirred feelings inside me and had me rooted to my reading chair, anxious to see what happened next. Solid writing (as always), captivating story, fantastic characters and it ended with hope and love flowing off the pages. And laughter. There was much laughter to be had while reading this one.
A must read!
To say that Reese and Charlie’s first meeting was one for the books is almost an understatement. Charlie has had a rough go of it the last few years. Charlie is a little crazy, but a lot funny. She is slowly but surely piecing her life back together. Enter Reese. He too, has had a rough time lately, and when he meets Charlie she asks him the most random questions. As the two cultivate a friendship, they realize that they have more in common than one would think, what with Reese being an NBA star and Charlie being, well just Charlie in her eyes. They go through ups and downs, but one night can change everything. Does Charlie have the strength to let go of her past and let Reese in?
This book, I had absolutely zero idea of what to expect from this book, which is the charm and allure of any Tijan book. I never know what I’m going to be reading, I just know that I will love it. ‘Teardrop Shot’ was no exception. I absolutely adored this book, from start to finish I was captivated. I love Charlie’s quirks and the way that Tijan made Charlie and Reese’s relationship blossom was beautiful to read. Like most Tijan books, this one was an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed, I cried, and everything in between, you name the emotion I felt it at some point reading this book. The chemistry between Reese and Charlie was white hot. This book also such sad and heartbreaking moments that I couldn’t help but cry at. The way that Tijan writes just evokes such feeling in her readers. That is what a great author does, they write so that you feel like you can feel everything that the characters are going through. This is just another of the many masterpieces that Tijan has written.
“I lapped it all up like a cat getting cream for the first time. Yes, sir. More, sir. I’ll drool for it.”
Teardrop Shot is so much more than a sports romance. I’m usually not a big fan of them but I trust the author 100% and know that she will never let me down. Reese and Charlie are completely different from any other characters that I have read. Their meeting was priceless, their friendship came naturally and their chemistry was off the charts.
“He made me buzz. My heart. My mind. My soul”
Charlie is quirky, witty, and fun. She has been struggling with some serious issues and is completely alone. She is broken and comes with tons of baggage but I couldn’t help but fall for her. Watching her character growth was simply beautiful. Tijan can write protective men. Reese…swoon…he is funny, kind, caring, hot as hell and understands Charlie like no one else can. They connect on a different level. He is a talented professional basketball player and with that comes fame and the lost of privacy.
“It was like my heart was made of flower petals. Each one opened, beginning to collect, build, blossom. His last words were the last petal falling into place, completing the heart.”
There are raw and emotional parts in this book that had me in tears on more than one occasion. There are also so many parts that had me rolling with laughter. The balance is perfect and I loved everything about Reese and Charlie’s story. If you are a fan of sports romance, original characters, and reads that you cannot put down, I highly recommend Teardrop Shot!!!
“I closed my eyes, that soul ache shifting to peace. He filled me up in every way now.”

Absolutely loved this story the characters and just about everything else this story brought to the table. This story just made my top books of the year!!!
Teardrop Shot is a must read. I so loved this one. I got up early and had two hours and fifteen minutes to get the kids ready to go out. I figured ok, I can read for fifteen minutes. Well, that didn’t happen, this book sucked me in and I didn’t pay attention to time. I ended up having to put my kindle down around 44% and OMG that’s a bad spot to have to put it down at. So yeah, when picking this one up to read make sure you have time to get lost in it.
Both Charlie and Reese are great characters. Charlie is a fun girl with some ex issues. She blurts out random question at times. I loved her. She has a lot of things going on those and has high walls up. Reese is basketball player. Reese is one of Charlie’s favorite players. When his team comes to the camp she’s working at their paths cross. Reese has his own issues. These two together mesh well. They start out as friends and progress from there. They are characters that have layers. At times they had me laughing and at other time they were dealing with some very heavy stuff. This story was full of emotions. I loved this one from beginning to end. You should definitely one click this one.
I don’t even know where to start with this. There is such a long list of what I loved in this book I could probably fill an entire separate book with it. Tijan has always been an author I know I’m going to get an amazing story from, but this one? Wow. I’d find myself going from laughing so hard it hurt to crying so hard I could no longer see the words on the pages through my tears. A deeply emotional story that will definitely resonate with countless people, Tijan perfectly captures emotion as that are so difficult to explain while keeping things much like life and not leaving out the good that peeks through the hard.
I adored Charlie. From her crazy, hilarious and awkward side to her heartbreakingly damaged side and everything in between. I felt everything she was going through long before the mystery of what happened began to unravel. She was just so wonderfully real it was liking being with a friend when reading her. The strange friendship that begins with Reese just solidified how much of my heart was lost to this book. The more that friendship grew into something much bigger the deeper I fell in love and the more I was unable to put this down.
This story gave my tear ducts a workout. Whether from the heartbreaking or the laugh out loud moments. And as for Reese and Charlie, I absolutely adored this couple. I highly recommend this story, another great one from Author Tijan!
Teardrop Shot is a standalone with an HEA. This was a quirky, funny read with so much emotion. It started out a little weird and I was like, “ohhhkay,” but it was all a part of what made this book so funny and the h, Charlie, so endearing. She makes such an impression. It will leave you thinking about her even after you’re finished reading it. She is funny, quirky, & has a serious knowledge of basketball. Her behavior is weird and zany at times but behind that humor and crazy is a broken woman who isn’t sure if she will ever be okay again. Life hasn’t been kind to her and she has closed herself to relationships. Along comes Reese. Reese is a basketball superstar. He is sexy, hot, cocky, and brooding. He isn’t looking for a relationship. He’s more of a one and done kinda guy. Charlie knows exactly who he is and kinda idolizes him. They don’t hit it off right away but Reese notices Charlie and sees beyond her charade of jokes, crazy questions, and comments. They form an unusual friendship that turns into friends with benefits & then roommates, and then the lines start blurring. Reese realizes that he has just scratched the surface and Charlie realizes that there is more to Reese than meets the eye.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was heartbreaking, touching, sexy, and my eyes may have watered a time or two and I was cracking up at other times. I loved the characters. I loved the aspect of friendship and loyalty in this book as well. They were they for each other and didn’t allow mistakes from the past ruin their friendships. The plot had a lot of depth. For some this may not be an easy read but it is well-written and well worth the read. I recommend reading it!

“If you let people in, they can hurt you.”
Okaaaay… So it’s nothing new that I love Tijan’s books. I’ve read almost all of them and there wasn’t a title I didn’t like. But Teardrop Shot? This book is something else. I didn’t expect in the slightest the impact of this story. I wasn’t aware of the emotional depth it carries. This book has so many layers and it’s so intense that it left me in a major book hungover. As a big Tijan’s fan I’m always pretty sure that I’ll like her new book and that I don’t need to brace myself. But oh boy… I really should prepare myself mentally for this one…
Dumped and fired from her last job, Charlie is trying now to get a grip and rebuild her life. She joins her old Camp, where she was working years ago. But she doesn’t know yet, that said camp is booked for the next 3 weeks by Seattle Thunder- a basketball team, where the captain is no one else than Reese Forster- famous player and her biggest idol. And despite that their first encounter was a little bit awkward, they formed a friendship that with time evolved into so much more. But it was possible only thanks to seeing beyond the facade, being understanding and thoughful. Because something that started as casual and was supposed to protect them from heartbreak, turned out to be their another shot at happiness.
It’s really hard to put into words how this story evolved from funny fangirl crush to deeply emotional and heartbreaking tale. It was just a matter of moments- in one minute I was reading something that resembled a rom-com, and in the next one I was a sobbing mess. But that’s the effect of the facade that our heroes put on. Both Charlie and Reese are coping with their pasts in their own way. He releases his emotions on the court. She’s hiding behind jokes and being quirky. They’re both so much more than what meets the eye and they have some serious issues, but they’re also the perfect match to help each other heal.
Teardrop Shot will make you laugh, swoon and cry. It’ll rip your heart out, but it will also give you solace. Tijan created layered story that gives all the feels and it’s totally unforgettable. And I’m bold enough to say that it’s her best work yet. Highly recommend!
Tijan’s words have completely wrecked me. Teardrop Shot has sucked the breath out of me and punched deep in my guts. The effect of this story on me is monumental. This is unlike any story I have EVER read. This crazy, angsty, heartbreaking, soul numbing story has left me in a chaos of emotional mess and psychosensory overload. I salute Tijan for writing this masterpiece. Teardrop Shot should be in the list of books you read before you die.
This story was totally unpredictable. A secret camping island. A weird girl who has baggage larger than anything, mouth which throws unusual and absolutely inappropriate questions and a shattered heart which is barely kept together with denial, guilt and avoidance. A basketball super star with anger and resentment. A group of loyal and priceless friends. When these lives collide and mesh, a beautiful and mindblowing saga is born.
The story is essentially about Reese and Charlie. I will never forget Charlie. Never. Tijan created a moving and heartbreaking life for this girl. I was led straight into the storm in her heart and brain. And damn if I could escape without getting affected to my core. It was scary, it was fascinating and it was one of those once in a lifetime reading experience. Reese is so perfect with his imperfections. The bond between these two tormented souls was simply stunning. They pushed, they resisted and they ran from each other. But this undeniable craving for the warmth and support brought them back together each time. Trust me it was hell. But the depth and intensity of their chemistry was hundred percent heavenly bliss. It was unapologetically raw, honest and real. I have cried way too many times and had to collect myself. But I couldn’t stop because the overwhelming emotions were choking me.
Teardrop Shot is so much more than a love story. It is about living life to the fullest after the hardest and cruelest break down. It is about forgiving yourself, loving unconditionally and taking chances on people who truly care about you. Tijan’s writing was absolutely mind bending brilliance that touched me in a deep spiritual level. If you read one book this year, think about Teardrop Shot.
Received ARC for Honest Review
This author has done it again! Tijan has this way of carefully crafting a story that is both unique and entertaining with complex characters that will put you through all of the feels. The blurb of this book does not do it justice. For me, Teardrop Shot started off feeling a bit lighter than some of her other books in that there was a bit of comedic flair as the heroine, Charlie would spout off random, humorous questions when stressed, nervous or excited however as the story developed, it turned into something so much deeper and put me through an array of deep emotions. There were moments where I was ugly crying, swooning, and feeling hopeful.
Charlie is a quirky, oddball heroine who’s penchant for spewing these random questions made her quite endearing to me. I like that she wasn’t a cookie cutter character. She started off as a fangirl camp groupie towards Reese Forster, but then she bonds with Reese as a man. Charlie was a strong heroine who suffered something heartbreakingly devastating and the author did a great job of showing just how much this affected her all while pulling at my heartstrings. There were times that I thought she was a bit immature in how she handled things, but at the same time, I think that it was fitting with her character.
I absolutely adored Reese. He is an NBA all star for the Seattle Thunder and meets Charlie at Echo Island Camp where their team is training. In the beginning, he isn’t sure what to make of Charlie and you can see this as his responses to her are a bit mercurial – he is humored, then commanding, and then pissy. However, he sees something in her that speaks to him and the two start to form a friendship that later evolves into something more. I love just how insightful and understanding Reese is. He is able to see beyond the jokes and past the mask that she presents to those around her.
My reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I wasn’t too sure about Charlie at the beginning so it took me a bit longer than usual to be fully engaged in the story and I would have loved to have had some chapters told from Reese’s POV. Overall, I really enjoyed this sports romance with its complex, well-developed the characters and its unique plot.
Teardrop Shot may be a friends to lovers sports romance, but it’s so much more. This is one of those rare titles that will stay with you long after reading it. Charlie and Reese’s story is emotional, poignant, raw and touching, especially for anyone who has experience with the subject matter.
This title will take you through a gamut of emotions. I’m used to Tijan’s books being high in angst, and this title has no shortage of angst, but it also has moments of humor that will have you laughing out loud. There are also moments that are so packed full of emotion that I had tears streaming down my face.
I loved these characters. Both are incredibly complex, dynamic and intriguing, and vulnerable both struggling with their fair share of baggage.
Charlie is incredibly endearing, unique, kind of quirky and a little bit crazy I couldn’t help but love this strong, resilient and brave heroine.
Reese is a brooding, sexy and intense NBL superstar. He’s a layered character, that whilst loyal, caring and protective, determined and driven is also perceptive and patient and has an innate ability to get Charlie to break down her walls and open up to him.
Teardrop Shot is a story of friendship, love and life. I loved not only the friendship that Reese and Charlie form, but the relationships they share with the side characters captured my heart. The chemistry between Reese and Charlie is intense and undeniable. Their banter is witty, fun, and flirtatious but also quite real.
If you love Tijan’s previous works, Teardrop Shot is a unique, captivating, compelling and heartfelt story that I absolutely loved and cannot recommend highly enough!
There is no doubt why Tijan continues to be on my one click and top favorite authors, but this time I was not prepared for the emotions this book gave me. This book is a five star phenomenal read, I was expecting a sport romance, but this was so much more than that. Charlie has been dumped, proposed by the guys grandfather and fired. She finds herself working at the old sport camp with old friends again. But nothing is that simple, the years between the time she worked then and now have changed her in so many ways. Then comes Reese Forster, an NBA star and Charlie has been a fan forever. They meet, but nothing and I mean nothing will go as you think it will for a sport romance. You will find yourself enveloped in an emotional turmoil. Your heart and mind will go in different ways and you will see that life sometimes is not easy and not as everyone expects. When you find someone again, and has changed you need to stop and think what that person have gone through for that changed to happen. Charlie’s life might not be what you think, and the more you read the more you know how real and how hard it is for someone working within themselves, and how it impact them in their everyday life. A must read book of 2019, a story hidden within a sport romance that is worth telling.
For 8 years she was gone. Lost in a world that completely consumed her.
Now shes back. Broken, some might say unhinged even. Inane questions flow freely from her, but maybe just maybe theres more to her than her wild thoughts…
Hes on form, at the top of his game, and once again camp time is upon them before the season kicks off.
Who’s the girl who watches him, and has meltdowns. The girl others dont “see” but he does.
What’s her story, and why does he feel the need to answer her…?
This book is like nothing I’ve read before!
I honestly dont know whether to cry some more, (not sure I have any tissues left mind) or whether to let that smile break through and make my face ache some more. I openly admit I’m an emotional mess!
Dreams of a future, of time together, longevity, love and hope. All stolen and this to me is what made this book extra special. Its something we all have experience of on some level.
A poignant tale of a loss so monumental time stood still. To breathe was to live. End of, and this is where I broke down.
Characters that make you laugh, that make you cry and steal your breath.
Charlie is quirky, witty, and completely unique. Her verbal diahroer had me in stitches! questions you might think but would never verbalize. Oh I loved her so much!!
Reese is the guy who stops and listens, who makes time and for that alone he stole my heart. Forget his status, his wealth anything else just look at his soul oh my, it’s pure, selfless and utterly amazing!
*stands up and applauds*
Tijan is a fantastic writer. I’ve loved many of her books. From Bennets mafia, to Crew and many inbetween, but this book stands out from everything shes written.
The style is different, the feelings you generate from her words feel truer. Theres a real connection to the characters and their situations, and to be honest it has completely blown everything else I’ve read this year to smithereens.
Nothing will ever be the same again. Dramatic.. but true! I feel a book funk coming on now..
Tijan is one of my favourite authors I never read the synopsis because I’m always confident I’m her storytelling. I didn’t know much except it was a standalone sports romance so I thought I knew what to expect. How wrong I was.
Reese and Charlie’s story touched me in ways I can’t even describe. The author captured the emotion of the story perfectly. The characters will make you laugh, cry and fall in love. My advice would be to go in blind because just when you think you know where the story is going it all flips and you’ll never be the same.
Bravo Tijan on another unforgettable story.
