I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that’s the PG version. He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies. And just like that, our friendship was off to a great start.Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder.Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation. He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work.Correction: where I work again, because I was … work.
Correction: where I work again, because I was fired from my last job.
And dumped.
And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right?
Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends. We shouldn’t have become roommates.
And we really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.)
I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.
Teardrop Shot is a 107k standalone with brand new characters.

One of my all-time favorite books.
I was surprised by how much I loved this book. I kept me hooked and glued to my seat.
I adored both characters and the fall from friends to something more made me gush. I’m a sucker for reading about friends to lovers and this was no exception.
“You’re a little odd, aren’t you?” I snorted. “Fantastically so.”
Charlie has had a lot of disappointing things happen to her recently but now she’s back working at camp where her sports idol Reese Forster just so happens to be training. Nothing should go wrong as long as she can avoid him and not make a bumbling idiot with her random 20 questions. Maybe asking him his criteria for bed buddies wasn’t the best question to lead with.
The world may only see the famous basketball player but even famous people have hardships. The only difference is everything must be kept on the down low. Reese definitely shouldn’t be looking for a hook up of any kind but there’s just something about her that keeps drawing him in. Even the ever strange questions she keeps throwing at him .
This may seem like it’s just a fun sports romance but it is so much more. This will have you laughing out loud one moment to clutching your chest the next. Charlie and Reese will surprise you at every turn.
Charlie is the very definition of quirky. To the point of being almost “too much”. Then she meets Reese and he just…gets her. They strike up a friendship that grows into more, and as we get to know more about these characters the story really picks up steam. It’s more than just a love story, it’s a story of friendship, family, and forgiveness. Reese is the real gem of the book, and I really enjoyed it.

That’s how I feel after finishing “Teardrop Shot”.

I am at a complete loss for words.
Charlie and Reese’s story is one of the best books I have ever read. EVER!
It’s a story about the healing power of love … About losing yourself and finding yourself, about loss and grief, about falling …. falling … falling, and about being caught by someone before you break completely, and about being put back together, about being able to breathe again … live again … And maybe to even love again …
No one could have told Charlie and Reese’s story better and more compellingly than Tijan.
This story broke my heart and soul on so many levels and put me back together. It made me laugh and cry, laugh some more and cry some more …. so much so that everything blurred together, and I had to stop reading completely to regain my composure. It’s that authentic and that emotional. But it’s also a terrific love story with great characters. It’s a story I’ve grown very fond of, a story I’ll never forget because it’s imprinted itself on my heart.
Teardrop Shot by Tijan was such a surprise for me. At first, I wasn’t too sure about this book because the main female character, Charlie, seemed quite kooky. I wasn’t sure I could get over her quirkiness but it tapers off through the book and you see why. Charlie’s story is simply heart breaking. It brought tears to my eyes. It made my chest ache. It’s really something you don’t see coming. However, what you do see coming is Reese. Boy, oh boy. I loved Reece. He was witty, caring, sexy as hell, and a pro basketball player. Phew. Sign me up.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love my witty banter between the main characters. Well, let me tell you that these two had witty banter in spades. I found myself smiling and laughing while reading their exchanges.
This was the first book I have read written by Tijan and I will be searching for me.

My first Tijan book and if Teardrop Shot is any indication of the emotional wringer that her books will put me through I can’t wait. Charlie is quirky and sometimes annoying but as she opened up and let Reese really know her it was easy to see it was a defense mechanism. Reese may be famous but he was a really down to earth guy. I loved these characters! Teardrop Shot made me laugh and broke my heart.
Just finished this and loved how Tijan could both bring me to tears and make me laugh in one single paragraph. Beautifully done, and with a surprising twist that was refreshingly unpredictable.
3.5/5 Stars
I honestly had a rough start with this one. It took me a while to get used to the writing style. At first, everything felt disjointed. I was having a hard time following the conversations and character thoughts. The writing just wasn’t very smooth and had a muddled flow. Once I got a feel for the writing it wasn’t so hard to follow along though.
The characters were middle of the road for me. I didn’t hate them but I didn’t love them either. I think that what comes to the forefront of my mind when I think back on them is that they weren’t all that memorable. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy reading about them because I did. I just didn’t feel overly connected to them. Charlie’s character actually really annoyed me at the start of the book. I just wasn’t on the same page as her but I think that is just a personal hang up. Charlie had her own quirks and had a definitely distinct personality which I admired the author for. Reese’s character was easy to identify with. Both characters had some great development in the story.
The romance is pretty much a slow-burn style romance. There is definitely an attraction between Charlie and Reese from the start but the real feelings don’t come until after they’ve spent some time together. I like how they gradually opened up to one another and started to trust each other.
The plot of the story was satisfying. There are some underlying themes that I picked up on while reading this story. Moving on from traumas and tragedies in your past is one of them. There’s also holding onto grief and closing yourself off from others as a way to cope with said traumas. There were sufficient twists and turns in the story to keep me interested and keep me guessing.
Overall, this was a satisfying read that I enjoyed. I didn’t fall in love with the story but I certainly didn’t hate it or have any negative feelings reading it. These are the hardest types of books to review for me because it’s hard to place them into a category. The bottom line is that I liked this book. Enough said, I suppose.
Oh my gosh, this book. I’m trying to wrap my head around it and damn, I’m so in love with this book.
When I first began reading this I had no idea what to expect. I had no idea exactly what Tijan was about to deliver with this beauty and let me just tell you, it packs a whole lot of emotional punches that’s for sure. I found myself tearing up a few times and feeling that dread way down deep in my gut at other times. My heart broke and then healed and I swear to god, the amount of feelings in this book was insane and I loved every single second of it.
These characters are so incredible. They both go through their fair share of heartache and pain. They’re both dealing with pain that complete affects the way that they’re living, it holds them back from wanting what they actually want. From their very first meeting through to the end I was invested. I couldn’t put the book down, I wanted and needed to know what going to happen next for these two and Tijan didn’t disappoint, their story was incredible.
I’ve been a fan of Tijan’s books for a while now, having read a few I was super excited to have the chance to read this one. She truly knows how to bring her character to life and give them a story that absolutely rattles you to the core, that’ll stick with you forever. There’s nothing more amazing than being taken over by a story, nothing or no one around you exists only the world of these characters and that’s exactly what happens with this book.
Teardrop shot is heartbreaking and beautiful. It breaks you and mends you.
Absolutely deserving of a top spot of the best books of 2019!
“How do you deal with loving someone who you can no longer help?”
Wow, just wow. I was not expecting this when I started reading Tear drop shot by Tijan.
I didn’t expect to laugh my ass off and then cry big fat ugly tears.
If you’ve read Tijan’s books before you’ll know that she writes darker reads, so I was surprised to find my self laughing at how funny the Heroine Charlie was.
Charlie asks random questions, really funny questions at the most inappropriate times, but she does it for a reason. It’s a shield. Charlie is hurting, is broken and is living with a big weight on her shoulders everyday.
If you let people in, they can hurt you.
At first Reese just thinks she’s another basketball groupie, until Charlie becomes an itch he needs to scratch. Both of them have been burnt severely by past relationships so at the start they agree to be fuck buddies because neither of them want to let their walls down and run the risk of getting their hearts shattered again.
This is a story of love, heartbreak, learning how to live again, learning it’s ok to be happy when you think you shouldn’t be allowed to.
Everyone needs the read the story of Reese and Charlie and see how love can mend even the most broken parts of you, especially when you are least expecting it.
Tijan did it again with this absolutely beautiful and highly emotional story! I laughed, I cried, I swooned, all the feels…
Charlie was a huge basketball fan, particularly crazy about Reese Forster, captain of Seattle Thunder. After losing her job and being cheated by her boyfriend, she found herself back to the camp where she used to work during her early years. It happened to be the place Seattle Thunder chose for their 3-week training camp. Needless to say, Charlie was starstruck, in shock, and just couldn’t control her attraction to Reese. Underneath her quirkiness, she hid a heartbreaking past that she had never let anyone know, even her closest friends. But Reese saw it through her…
Reese was the first person that could break through the walls surrounding Charlie’s heart. He was patient, kind, understanding, and in a way became her therapist. He shared with her his own sorrow, and together, they have supported and healed each other.
This book brought me through a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed at Charlie’s quirks, then cried for her and what she had been through. I loved Charlie for her strength, her loyalty, and her big heart. She deserved her HEA with Reese, and they were just perfect for each other. This is one of my most favorite stories of this year. I highly recommend this book as well as Tijan! You will not regret it!
I loved everything about this book. Charlie was so funny. I loved her random questions. It was heartbreaking what she went through with her ex and I understood why she was the way she was.
Reese was so sweet to her, validating her questions and understanding the reason behind them instead of thinking she was nuts and ignoring her like her friends did. He had his own problems but he still took the time to listen to Charlie’s problems and make her deal with them.
Reese and Charlie actually made the prefect couple. They both could understand what the other was going through and they had a great friendship to start out with.
I did love all of Charlie’s friends although it did take me a little bit to figure out who they were. The first few chapters with them, I was confused about what was going on. I felt like I had missed a book before this one but I figured it out pretty quick.
Just when I think Tijan can’t possibly take me any higher, she proves me wrong.
Reese and Charlie are everything each other needs at exactly the moment it was needed. After their first interaction I found myself reading faster. Needless to say, I hardly put down the book until the end (I mean a girl’s gotta sleep and eat right?).
The beginning was a bit confusing since I thought it was going to be more of a romantic comedy, then there is a “fork in the road” and thats when it really takes off. There are multiple stories happening but it wasnt difficult to keep up. Even with all the balls juggling in the air and the short epilogue, I was left satisfied with no questions and even a bit of hope.
Loved it.
I love this author and this book!
All the feels – damn it’s good
Tijan really has done it again !! I love the way she has a knack of writing her characters so you feel you really know them , that you want to have them in your life for real, and that the things they go through are relatable and heart pulling and just .. bring on every feeling .
This book made me laugh and cry and fall in love with Reece and Charlie ! Both are awesome characters in their own right and as always left me wanting more !
I was worried at first that Charlie’s ‘crazy ‘ was going to be too much for me and I wouldn’t like it .. but it really wasn’t . It was just the right amount to make me laugh and there’s so much more to her !!!
Brilliant Tijan !! Loved it
Beautifully Broken
This was one of those books where I had to break out my ‘i but my book down to be here’ t-shirt when I went to work because it was so good that I had a hard time putting it down. Charlie and Reese are so beautifully broken in a way that you can never completely understand unless you’ve been through something similar yourself. While this was a typical sports romance, with the famous guy and the girl would was a fan, that was the only thing typical about it. Their back stores were unique and well written. I would definitely recommend Teardrop Shot.
This book had me feeling such a wide range of emotions. At some points I was laughing so hard and at others I had a lump in my throat and was trying not to cry. Tijan is one of my favorite writers and I love all of her books but I felt like this one was different from others that she had written and just showed once again how talented she is. This book kept me captivated until the very end.
Okay this author is new to me. I have never read any of her books. I started reading this and I noticed that Charlie covered things with her weird Oddball questions, which is a good defense mechanism. I really enjoyed the way the book was written, I enjoyed the characters the relationship she had with them both past and present, it was sad to learn that she had dropped out of their lives for so many years. It was sad to see what she was dealing with with her ex-boyfriend Damien. I can understand how she felt being closed off from everyone and it was her responsibility to take care of him she felt defeated, alone, lost and guilty. I did drop a few tears in this book , it hit me emotionally. I love the relationship that Reese and Charlie have. I love how it started and I love how it ended. I will definitely definitely read more books by this author. Thank you for this journey I truly enjoyed it
TEARDROP SHOT is a standalone sports romance about a crazy weird girl, meeting her all time favorite basketball player while working at her old camp where his team is staying for a few weeks in preseason.
In the beginning, I won’t lie, it took me what felt like forever to get into this book. I don’t think I really go into it until like chapter 10. In the beginning there was a lot going on but then at the same time not a lot going on. Charlie has a lot of baggage and issues that caused her to push her friends away and close off herself. She asks crazy, out-of-the-blue questions that are just off the wall weird and sometimes inappropriate and no one ever answers her questions…until him.
Reese Forster was going through his own crap, while also being a top NBA player, and so when this weird chick asked him wacko questions, he actually answered her with a smirk on his face.
When he answered her questions, Charlie was more in awe that he answered them rather than the fact she just had a mini conversation with her basketball idol.
Once Reese came into the picture I was able to get more into the story, but before then I hate to say it but it was boring. Very much needed for the story, but very boring.
Once the story picked up pace a bit it was a great read where I couldn’t wait to find out how things were panning out for them. And when Charlie’s baggage from her past is brought to light you see why she is the way she is.
My other only complaint with this book would be that it was 98% only from Charlie’s POV. There were a couple places in the middle of the book where the author showed us some insight to Reese’s side of the story, but then it was all Charlie’s, and so if you’ve been following me for a bit, you know how much I love and prefer ANY romance novel to have 2 or more POV instead of one.
Overall this was a great read about two lives coming together with all their shadows and finding the light in each other.
