Back in the Game. GAHHH! Calder and Rachel! This story is classic Meghan, with sweetness, naughtiness and the dialogue is laugh out loud funny! My only wish is that it was longer! I fell in love with Meghan’s work when I read The Mother Road. Meghan has the amazing ability to pull you into her stories and make you cheer on the characters. She truly writes the perfect romantic comedy! I hope to see more of her secondary characters in books of their own! Meghan’s writing is also so smart, she really doesn’t “talk down” to the reader which I greatly appreciate! Bravo on another well written short story! Looking forward to future books from her!
While I haven’t read the whole Anthology, I will now after reading Cross by Adriana Locke. She is bringing us another Gibson man. Cross is a cousin to the good old Gibson Brothers and boy does the charm drip from all their finger tips.
Cross is a second chance at love for Kallie and Cross. Once upon lovers, who split years before only to be in each others cross-hairs again. Kallie left wanting to get away from small time life, only to return when things go haywire in the big city. Cross never left but changed his bad boys ways. What happens when the pull to each other is too great and both realize that feelings maybe buried but not dead? These two live true to the poem of “If you love something, let go. If it comes back, it is yours to keep.”
Adriana does this with you on every book. Her writing pulls you in, never letting you go and has you thirsty for more. Can wait for more adventures in the Gibson family saga.
I am loving this collection of fabulous novellas by these amazing authors.
5 STARS FOR SWEEPING THE SERIES BY KATE STEWART!! This was a grand slam novella for me….I absolutely loved this story about Ren and Erica getting a second chance. This story has hotness, drama, moments of humor and so much more. As always Kate Stewart gives us a Home Run with her fabulous words.
5 STARS FOR YARD SALE BY CHARLEIGH ROSE!! This novella was just the perfect amount of hotness, sexy, drama and perfect characters to make us want more. Cam is a hot professional snowboarder that has no problem with women until Mollie. These two together will cause an avalanche of emotions and hotness.
5 STARS FOR FULL COURT PRESS BY KENNEDY RYAN!! Wow, this story was full of heart and reads like a full size book not missing anything. Decker and Avery meet years ago and I loved seeing this story play out. Kennedy Ryan writing is perfection and always gives us page turning stories.
5 STARS FOR CROSS BY ADRIANA LOCKE!! Another fun sexy story that I could not put down. This is a second chance romance for Cross and Kallie, they are so perfect for each other. These two never stopped loving each other and chemistry was off the charts. I loved seeing characters we have already met, it is always is fun seeing what they are up to.
I thought Team Player was a good book filled with amazing steamy stories written by must read authors some I’ve read before and others I’m being introduced to .

I’ve read alot of Charleigh Rose’s books and was excited to see that she was one of the authors to be part in Team Player . Characters from Bad Habit make an appearance but don’t worry it’s not required to read that before this one . Cam and Mollie had off the charts chemistry the sparks grow into a fire that can’t be extinguished lets just say these two really knew how to steam up my kindle . Sweeping the series by Kate Stewart characters Ren and Erica
I really enjoyed this second chance romance and I’m such a fan of Kate Stewart it was so awesome to see the couples from the balls in play series if you haven’t read them you definitely should . I love a good second chance romance and this was a good one that had me hooked till the very end . Ren and Erica made the perfect couple you could tell how much they still felt about one another even though they didn’t want to show it . At first I didn’t know how I was going to like Ren after reading this second chapter but I quickly warmed up to him with his quirks and oh my gosh the last chapter made me swoon . Erica was a great heroine at when we find out the reason why she did what she did it was understandable yet really sad . Ok the first sex scene just blew my mind at how steamy it was and the way these two couldn’t stop the sexual tension .

If you haven’t read any books by Ella you really need to because they are very enjoyable “wink” .

This is a friends to lovers romance and I loved everything about it . I thought they made the perfect couple and when these two finally get their freak on lets just say hotness over load . Everything I read about this author is a must read so it wasn’t a shocker that this was a instant hit for me .

I’m not a sports fan, at all, but I love sports romances, a lot. So when I saw that there was an anthology coming out dedicated to sports romance, and two of my favorite authors are a part of it, I knew I’d be adding Team Player to my must read pile.
I started with Sin Bin by Mandi Beck. In hockey the penalty box is often refered to as the Sin Bin and let me tell you Jason and Stella have given it a new meaning!! Jason is a pro hockey player in the NHL and Stella is a college senior, ten years younger than him. They have an instant attraction and are only supposed to be one night, one hot AF night. Spoiler: it’s not one night! I loved these two so much!! Mandi Beck brings to us an entire story, with great character development in this novella.
Then I read Cross by Adriana Locke. She has this amazing ability to give us all the feels, even in a novella. This is the second chance story of Cross, a boxer/gym owner and Kallie. It is set in the Gibson Boys world. They grew up together and dated, until small town life and gossip broke them up and drove Kallie away. Now she is back and there is still so much between them.
One of the best things about an anthology? Reading authors I haven’t read before like Rochelle Paige, Kate Stewart and Sarah Ney. There’s really so much to like about Team Player, so get in the game and take a chance, you can’t lose!!
Team Player is a sports anthology…11 authors, 11 novellas, and I will update this review as I read them!
Let me start with this; I’m not a huge fan of novellas or anthologies! BUT, when I saw the authors that were writing for THIS one…AND it’s all about sports hotties?! I was like, “Oh YEAH, I’m IN!!” I will update this review for each book, as I read them.
5 + Stars for One Good Man by Emma Scott!!
OMG!! Emma has given us a DELICIOUS, SPECTACULAR and UNIQUE offering with Janey and Adrian’s love story! It’s SWOONY and ANGSTY and OH-SO-EMMA!!! It’s a journey, not just a story…it may be a novella but it’s FULL of FEELS and of course, as always, you fall n love with all the well-developed characters that live in ALL of Emma’s novels! Wonderful job, Emma…another not-to-be-missed romance!
The line up for this anthology is insane! So many talented and amazing authors coming together to make the ultimate dream team! This review will focus on The End Zone by LJ Shen, Cross by Adriana Locke, and Full Court Press by Kennedy Ryan.
*The End Zone* by LJ Shen
Could this novella be any more perfect? I am a sucker for the friends to lovers trope and nothing is sweeter than when they’re childhood friends. I fell in love with Sage and Jolie from the start and this novella was equal parts sweet, funny, and so, so sexy! The push and pull was just right and I’m amazed that LJ Shen could pack so much into this little novella. Readers will laugh and swoon as Jolie and Sage navigate the mysterious road between friends to more. I didn’t want it to end, but my heart was so full as I read the last words. Truly a perfect novella!
*Full Court Press* by Kennedy Ryan
Kennedy Ryan can write one hell of a novella! There was so much emotion and heart in 14 little chapters! This may not be a full length novel, but it plays out just like one and will bring the reader to wonderful highs and heartbreaking lows. It is so well thought out and a brilliant slow burn second chance romance. The raw honesty was captivating and readers will fall head over heels for Decker and Avery. They have such incredible chemistry and I loved the build up and the will they/won’t they back and forth. So much in life is about timing and it has never lined up for these two until now. Let’s just say it’s worth the wait! Readers should note that this isn’t really a light and fluffy read. It’s a beautiful emotional journey that is heartfelt and truthful. I really hope that this isn’t the last we see of Avery and Decker.
*Cross* by Adriana Locke
Second chance romance and childhood sweethearts? Yes, please! I have already fallen hard for the Gibson Boys thanks to Crank, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this novella. The story actually takes place before Crank and can be read as a stand alone from the series.
Cross may not be a Gibson (he’s Machlan Gibson’s best friend), but he is just as sexy and charming. I don’t know how any female survives in Linton without spontaneously combusting with these men around! This was such a sweet and easy second chance romance. I fell in love with Cross and Kallie right from the start and couldn’t help but root for them to find a way back to each other even when old fears and insecurities resurface. In true Adriana Locke fashion, there are lots of laughs and steamy times, but also wonderful supporting characters too (loved Nora). I wish that it was longer because I couldn’t get enough of these two!
*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book*
Here is another collection of great stories. This is perfect for romance fans at Holiday time. But there is a great twist with this collection. It is all about sexy men in sports. I loved it! What had me interested at first was that a few of my favorite authors were in it. I knew this would be a great collection. The happy surprise was that I liked every single story. And I have new authors to look into! I highly recommend this book to romance lovers. And if you are a fan of sports and hunky athletes you will really love this collection. Sorry I am not giving details on the stories. The fun part for me is going into it not sure what the story is about. But you will not be disappointed.
**** This is a review for Cross by Adriana Locke, part of the Team Player anthology ****
This was written with the usual fun, emotion, steam and amazing undefinable quality that I have come to expect from this author. Her books draw you straight in, the characters feel very real, natural and are always likeable. This is quite a skill when writing such a short story, but for me I prefer a novella to be character driven, which this is.
Kellie and Cross have history, but Cross’s refusal to grow up and take responsibility gave Kellie no choice but to leave him behind. Now she’s back, but has anything changed? Well one thing that hasn’t is there incredible chemistry and their feelings for each other, but will they get a HEA in this second chance romance? You’ll have to read it to find out but what I will tell you is that this held my attention and had me caring about the characters almost straight away.
The writing and pace are excellent, Kellie and Cross are both believable characters, the dialogue is witty and fun and, even in this short read, there is plenty of emotion portrayed. There are some hot ‘n’ steamy moments, with things progressing quite quickly but, because of their intense past together, this didn’t feel rushed or too insta-love (which just doesn’t do it for me).
If you’ve never read any of Adriana Locke’s work why???? and also this is an excellent ‘taster’ of what to expect from this very talented author.
Team Player is an anthology by eleven authors that has something for everyone. I read 3 of the stories but play to go back and read all the others.
Cross by Adriana Locke *5 Stars*
This entry is a Gibson Boys novella. Cross and Kallie have a history, some of it’s good and some of it’s bad. But either way, they ended up going their separate ways. Only life has brought them back together.
Kallie still has the doubts that small town dating bring into a relationship, but she also has a desperate need to be with Cross. Cross knew what he lost when Kallie left and he proceeded to make changes in his life to be the person she deserved.
Ms. Locke has written a delightful little story about reclaiming that which you have lost. A quick fun read with emotional ups and downs, it is a good introduction to her Gibson Boys Series.
The End Zone by L.J. Shen *4 Stars*
A friends to lover’s story. Jolie and Sage have been friends since childhood. Now as they are finishing college, they start to look at one another differently and realize the feelings they have for one another are different.
This is the first writing of L. J. Shen that I have read. I like her style and will look for more of her stories.
Back in the Game by Meghan Quinn *5 Stars*
I loved this story! It has all the necessary dynamics to make this a great read. A storyline full of humor, hotness and heartwarming moments, Back in the Game is an introduction of sorts to her next series, Three Blind Dates.
Calder and Rachel are wonderful! A hot hockey player and kindergarten teach? Please, could anything be cuter? Throw in a cutie-pootie daughter and everything just clicks!
The text messaging between Calder and Rachel is delightful. As you read their story you can’t help but enjoy the story.
Ms. Quinn’s writing is excellent and the story unfolds in a quick pleasing style.
This list of authors in this anthology is a no brainer. AND it’s all sports romance, you can’t go wrong!
FULL COURT PRESS Kennedy Ryan
5 bouncy basketball stars! Decker and Avery meet when she’s starting out in sportscasting and it’s a rocky introduction at best…or is it! Fast forward ten years and the two meet again when they have to work together and it’s clear neither one of them forgot about their first encounter. Their attraction is unavoidable, but can Avery let go of her past to see if this is more than just amazing chemistry?!?
Kennedy’s writing is flawless, emotional and sexy. She has a way with words and manages to pull on your heart strings once again. This doesn’t feel like a novella, but you will want more. Luckily this sets the stage perfectly for her next basketball release!
CROSS Adriana Locke
5 give me more Linton, Illinois stars. Once again Adriana does not disappoint with this swoon worthy tale of Cross Jacobs, a fun-loving hottie who realized years ago he needed to grow up after losing Kallie to his rowdy way of life. She’s back in town and neither one has forgotten what they once had. Spending time together is not what Kallie is looking for, but Cross makes it impossible not to fall for his charming ways. This is a fun, sweet, heartwarming second chance romance that includes some of our favorite cast of Gibson brother’s characters!
YARD SALE Charleigh Rose
5 give me more snow! This hot and sexy romance takes place on the slopes with the infamous Camden Hess, snowboarder extraordinaire. He’s not shy when it comes to his love for women and he sets his sights on Mollie as soon as she walks into the bar. The two meet and sparks fly instantly. Mollie and Cam have one, hot, sexy night together and go their separate ways…but what happens when they run into each other again months later when Mollie returns to spend the holidays with her family. Charleigh is now on my list of must read authors. Don’t miss out!
This review is for Cross by Adriana Locke.
This is a great story that pulls at you. Kallie is back home and Cross is determined to get back the woman that he loves. This is a great second chance love novella. The characters hold you and pull on your heartstrings.
Kallie has been hurt before by Cross and her last boyfriend. She has doubts that she needs to conquer and trust that she needs to build.
Cross can’t help that he didn’t do the right things when he was younger or that the ladies in town gossip about him in their small town.
These two need to find their way back to each other since they are all that they each can think about.
I can’t wait to start reading the whole anthology.
How do you review a book that’s really eleven stories?!
This was an amazing group of authors to throw together for an anthology. Make that anthology full of hot, sweaty, sports guys … wowza! These stories were just the right amount of hot, sweet, and happy. Now, I have a couple stories left to finish, but here are some highlights (I’ll update later):
Sin Bin: WOW! Jason & Stella. These two were definitely a hot duo. Hockey player meets softball pitcher — both athletes, but maybe a bit at different levels. This story was definitely NOT LONG ENOUGH. I loved how these two came together and that their journey wasn’t exactly easy. But they were perfect for each other!
Full Court Press: Decker & Avery <3 *swoon* These two ... they brought so much more than the average sports romance insinuates. They meet when Avery is a sports reporter and Decker is a successful basketball player. Decker acts like a self-absorbed jerk and causes Avery to forever hold a grudge...well, at least for about 10 years. When they meet again, each of them have been through a lot; each of them have changed. This story, even in the shortness of a novella, really touched me. I'm not sure how this author always seems to tie up my heart every. single. time.
Cross: I SO LOVE visiting the Gibson Boys. This novella takes us pre-Crank, and introduces us to Kallie & Cross. These two have a bit of a past, and although a good portion of it was absolutely beautiful, the ending ... not so much. They aren't ugly with each other, but rather they both just feel the sting of their loss. Being in each other's presence, they quickly realize they're going to have to make a decision about what to do with ... themselves. "It's a gamble, a big risk, one I'm not entirely sure is going to pay off, but one I feel absolutely sure about making."
I'm working my way through the rest, and so far they are DELIGHTFUL. This is definitely worth the read.
Team Player is an amazing anthology written by some of my favorite authors!!! is abour sport romance!! each story is sooo good!!!
My favorite was FULL-COURT PRESS bye Kennedy Ryan, this story is about a former basketball player and sport reporter, this story is beautiful is about a couple who meet in the past but that wasnt the moment until 10 years later when everythings work for them to be together.
But the problem is after 10 years but persons had passed for a lot of situations and at the end they will need to figured it out if they can be together.
IF you lovee Sport Romance you MUST NEED to read this anthology!!!
Kennedy Ryan and Emma Scott, together in one book?!? Hold me back! Seriously, I’m not sure I can handle so much awesome in one place. These ladies are 2 of my very favorite authors- everything, I mean everything, they write is phenomenal. And their stories in this book? Just as incredible as any of their full length novels. So much more than “just” sports romances, they’ll captivate and hold you spellbound.
One Good Man by Emma Scott: Why I thought I could ever get through one of her books, even a novella, without shedding a tear is beyond me. It’s ridiculous what this woman can do with 26 letters. Janey and Adrian’s story is sweet, sexy, and so touching, I’m a little bit in love with both of them.
Full Court Press by Kennedy Ryan: Lyrical and poetic- 2 words you wouldn’t think to connect with a sports romance, but that’s what you get when Kennedy Ryan is the author. If you’ve read any of her other books just know, even though this is a novella, the writing is everything you’ve come to expect from her. Avery and Decker’s story is a compelling second chance romance that will have leave your heart soaring and asking for more.
Christmas just became a whole lot merrier…
This Anthology has grouped eleven extremely talented authors and their sexy, poignant novellas into one thick . . . book.
~ FULL COURT PRESS by Kennedy Ryan is about the meeting of two souls when they were just beginning their careers. Avery and Deck made an electric connection, but at the wrong time, making it awkward, and embarrassing. They have never forgotten each other and have frequently thought about the ‘What If’s’. Now years later they are thrust together again, but they are not the same people. They both have suffered in different ways. I loved Deck and his determination to make amends and to finally make Avery his.
“It was my chance to unwind the labyrinth that has been Avery all these years. To understand her and get a glimpse of what’s beneath all that control. It’s beautiful. So beautiful that now I’m addicted to her honesty and her vulnerability and her boldness and her brand of brokenness.”
This is a poignant tale filled with sexual tension and second chances. Ms Ryan created a quick story that moved me to tears and made me believe in soul mates. I loved every moment of this story, wanting more, but was totally satisfied.
~ CROSS by Adriana Locke is set in the Gibson Boys world. It takes place before Crank so can be enjoyed as a wonderful standalone. Cross is also a moving story of epic love and second chances. Kallie and Cross grew up and in love together. But where Kallie was a responsible old soul, Cross was not ready to settle down. She had the courage to leave before they destroyed each other. Now Kallie is back in town and Cross is older, sexier, and still a charmer. Kallie wants to believe he is a different man, but can’t forget the pain from before. Cross has waited for Kallie to return home and will not let her walk away again. I absolutely loved their rediscovery of each other.
“You’ve always been mine, Kallie girl, just like I’ve always been yours.”“Yes,” I eek out.
I also loved seeing all the characters in this series, before it begins, and swoon over the Gibson men even more! This is a quick story that still delivers everything I crave in a romance. I care for Kallie and Cross, and I hope to see more of them in this series!
These are only two of the stories I’ve read and loved so far! I cannot wait to read more about these sexy sports heroes from the other wonderful authors in this epic anthology!
Full Court Press – If you were missing Kennedy Ryan’s words then pick up the Team Player Anthology that includes her novella, Full Court Press. A quick, steamy romp featuring MacKenzie Decker and Avery Hughes. Set in the world of pro-basketball, Decker and Avery have an encounter early in their careers that they don’t follow through on. Ten years later, the question “what if” lingers. Even in novella form, all the emotions are there. Kennedy knows how to string the words together to give you all the feels. It’s the perfect read.
The End Zone – LJ Shen knows how to write a lovable jerk. Sage Poirier is a the cocky but handsome quarterback and Jolie is his best friend since childhood. What happens when he finally realizes the best thing that ever happened to him is right there in front of him? Take a short trip into their lives, feel the push and pull of their relationship and find out if he can convince Jolie to take a chance.
Sweeping the Series – I gotta tell you this is only my second read by Kate Stewart but she’s definitely moved up high on my TBR list. She’s got a way with words that I really like. Ren Makavoy is hot and handsome beyond words. Erika Wild is smart and beautiful. Their chemistry is unmistakable. The emotions are raw. The writing is smooth and the storyline engrossing. This novella packs a punch!
One Good Man – Emma Scott knows how to write a beautiful story. Set in the early 1970s in Paris, France you get swept up in the moment. Adrian Rousseau and Janey Martin meet when she is assigned to do an article on him. What follows is a stunning love story full of emotion and heart. Even those this is a novella with a sports theme, so much feeling is written on the pages. It flows sweetly leaving my heart full and wishing for just a little bit more.
Back In The Game – Meghan Quinn and rom-com go hand in hand. This sweet, insta-love love story with sexy, single dad Calder Weiss and sassy Rachel Perry hits the mark. They are both confident and mature, but sweet and quirky too. They just fit. Smiling as I read their story, it’s just so darn cute with all the feels. And I love how Meghan incorporates characters either from previous stories or stories to come.
Team Player is an Anthology of eleven outstanding sportsnovellas by eleven outstanding and incredibly talented authors and contains:
The End Zone by LJ Shen
Slapped into Love by Rochelle Paige
Full Court Press by Kennedy Ryan

Sweeping the Series by Kate Stewart
Back in the Game by Meghan Quinn
Yard Sale by Charleigh Rose
Sin Bin by Mandi Beck
One Good Man by Emma Scott
Switch Hitter by Sara Ney
Cross by Adriana Locke
I read every single one and highly recommend the anthology. Lets get started with:
Full Court Press by Kennedy Ryan: Decker and Avery´s story. Mack Decker is a NBA pro player and Avery Hughes a reporter. There was a incident in the past who humiliated Avery and now he´s her co-host at a sports tv show. He wants her, bad. But she has a lot of guilt and issues. He´s a good guy who wants to do right by her. While she´s a witty and sharp minded at her job, her personal life is a disaster.
Full Court Press is a emotional read. Let me tell you, Kennedy Ryan is a master in making me cry while reading a book and loving it at the same time ! With her words she tears me apart and then she puts me back together.
Full Court Press is a beautifully thought out, beautifully told and beautifully written, heart wrenchingly story about second chances. I can´t say how much I love the characters and their story. I recommend this book and give 5 stars.
The End Zone by LJ Shen: Jolie Louis and her best friens Sage Poirrier are roommates at college. Sage is a quarterback, player literally too, he´s blunt and has a harem of fangirls. He´s everything that Jolie – JoJo – isn´t. But when another man is interested in her, Sage is protective and jealous.
The End Zone is a sweet and beautiful 5 star read with a great story and lovable characters.
Slapped into Love by Rochelle Paige: Ryan is a hockey player and isn´t to happy to have a new scating coach under his nose. But to win the championship he has to be good to Tamara Antonov is a driven woman who exctly knows what she wants. And that isn´t a jock. Ryan is determined to win her over and goes to great length. I liked the story and the characters and give 4 stars.
Out of Formation by Ella Fox: Elena is a senior in college and works hard to be great as cheerleader. The new football coach, Colin, is an old childhood crush of her. But the college has strict no-fraternizing policy . Ther are ups and downs, twists and turns and I really liked the story and the writing, the characters and the words, 4,5 stars go to Out of Formation.
Sweeping the Series by Kate Stewart: Baseball player Ren Makavoy is about to sign a big contract. He´s a player who´s not only plays ball-wink. Cross by Adriana Locke: Cross is a Gibson Boys Series novella. I call dibs on Cross, he´s mine Bad Boy!
Cross takes place before Crank (he was mentioned briefly in Crank).
Meet Kallie Welch, she left her hometown years ago, but now she´s back in Linton for good. Cross Jacobs is her ex-boyfriend, their break up was a ugly one. Now he wants a second chance and is determined not to mess up and make her his again. Both have this crazy chemistry. You can practically feel the characters emotions in the words. There are scorching hot sex scenes, drama and mistakes.
I never ever wanted to be the heroine in a book, but now I wish I could be Kallie and get Cross- and make him work for it. Cross is a beautifully thought out, beautifully told and beautifully written story. I love the characters, the writing and the words and Highly recommend Cross ! I wish I could give more than 5 stars !
Team Player is a great anthology, I loved every single novella. The writing is great, the stories are beautiful and I loved the characters. Some made me laugh, some made me cry, and I had a real good time reading these stories. Team Player an Anthology gets 5 stars and I highly recommend it !!
I truly enjoyed all the stories I’ve read here. Each one was different but so special in their own way.
I couldn’t stop smiling throughout the book and I felt so happy after reading such unique stories.
Great scenarios, descriptions and not at all predictable. Each author puts their touch in their stories and I enjoyed that profusely. As a reader, this anthology was all I was waiting for!
