This sexy alpha intends to teach his mate a few lessons about local wildlife… Alicia Simmons rarely lets anyone get too close. So crushing on a hot wildlife expert via videochats in her classroom is completely safe. The long-distance flirtation means no expectations—and no expectations means no disappointment…or hurt. And when Ranger tells her he’s visiting her neck of the woods, spending a few … neck of the woods, spending a few days—and nights—with him doesn’t sound too dangerous, either. Sure, when the fling is over, she’ll have to pick up the pieces of her heart. But at least he’ll be safe from the beast inside her.
Except Travis Ranger isn’t coming for a fling. He’s coming for Alicia. And he’s got a lot to show the shy science teacher…starting with a lesson about what happens when a wolf finally gets his claws on the woman he’s waited far too long to claim. And no matter how hard she tries to push him away, he’s never going to let her go.
Because Alicia thinks she’s a beast? His shy little teacher hasn’t seen anything yet…

Audiobook review
I am still fairly new to this author, but I have been devouring a majority of her books, especially the novellas. I actually read this one back in May, but then had an opportunity to listen to the audio version (09/2020) and thoroughly enjoyed it once again. Teacher’s Pet Wolf was definitely one of my favorites of her novellas, I just loved how even before the two main characters knew the other was a shifter they had such intense chemistry. Alicia Simmons is a middle school biology teacher who has been lightly flirting with a wildlife ranger from Alaska. Travis “Ranger” Ranger has been assisting in Alicia’s classroom with lessons via video conference calls. With every video chat, Alicia’s attraction to Travis grows, but didn’t see anything coming of it. But on the last lesson, Ranger Ranger informs Alicia he was coming into town, and she just couldn’t turn down seeing him, even if for a short time. But for Ranger Ranger, this is not temporary, at all.
I really like how there was not a lot of drama, their story was all about their intense chemistry and Travis helping Alicia with her new reality. Their attraction is as strong, even more so, than over video chats. Their first face to face meet was off the charts! It did not take long for the two to realize what they mean to each other.
For a novella, I did not feel like anything was missing. I really enjoyed everything about this book and the audio was just as good. The narrators, Amelie Griffin and Erik Bloomquist, did an amazing job portraying both Alicia and Travis. Those sexy scenes were definitely an experience to listen to.
Thought this was going to be pretty basic: growly ranger comes to town to seduce the cutie teacher he’s been video conferencing with and they have lots of sexytimes. But the story was more layered than that. Relevant backstory, emotional epiphanies, and several laugh out loud moments make this so much more than just sizzling steamy interludes.
My first book by Kati Wilde was “Midwinter Mail-Order Bride”, a fantasy romance that I loved and can’t wait for the next book of the series. But in the meantime she’s written this steamy romance about werewolves that I really enjoyed. I do like her writing.
It’s a simple story, I mean, there’s no a hundred different plots going on but just the love story between this shy teacher that hides a big secret and her hot Ranger and how they get over their fears, doubts and prejudices to make their relationship works. Well, mainly she’s the one with issues that needs to be solved.
Very steamy scenes, a wary girl that learns how to control things and become stronger and self-confident, and secondary characters very appealing make this book a pleasure and lighthearted reading.
*I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review*
I loved how Alicia and Ranger met through the school program and both were really interested in each other. I felt bad that Alicia struggled so much with what happened but I am so glad that Ranger was there to help her through it. I loved how Ranger with both protective and confident in Alicia. Their chemistry was great from the moment they met in person. I can’t wait to find out about Samantha and Brandon.
I received an ARC and am leaving my honest and voluntary review.
This was such a fun novella in the same world as the author’s book High Moon, but totally standalone. I loved these characters, and the fact that they met via video chats in her classroom!
Alicia Simmons is a middle school teacher, and she loves her job. But 6 months ago, her life was changed forever when she was attacked by a creature while on vacation with her sister. Now, on the full moon, she turns into a beast, that runs for hundreds of miles in a night, and hunts animals. Only animals so far, thankfully. But she’s terrified of one day making a mistake and killing someone, because she has no control, and no memory of herself, once the beast takes over. Her science class has been having video chats with a park ranger in Alaska all year, and she and the ranger had been pretty flirty, but after the attack, she distanced herself. Who could ever want her if they found out the truth?
Park Ranger Travis Ranger didn’t mind the isolation of his year-long Alaska assignment, until Alicia’s face came through his computer. Ever since the first time he saw her, he’s been making plans. He’s finally secured the new job he wanted, in her town, and it’s the end of the school year at last. But, he’s worried about her. Ever since Winter break, she’s been different, and he’s worried she’s been dealing with something bad. He has plans to tackle whatever it is, head on. In fact, he has a crazy idea for a fix, if it’s really bad. But his wolf has decided, just like he has, that Alicia is their one, so no matter what, he’s coming for her.
Ranger and Alicia’s chemistry was through the roof hot, and their flirty banter on the video chats was so cute. But, when they met in person, all those months of frustration and need came to a boiling point, and it was so hot! But, still they both needed to learn the other’s secret before they could really open up. There was less world building here, since this was a novella, but I like the author’s world, where bitten and born wolves are different types, and have different issues. I enjoyed Ranger teaching Alicia all about everything, all the while convincing her that nothing can turn him away from her.
Ranger’s brother Brandon, who is a bear, and Alicia’s sister Sam, a human cop in their town, were both awesome characters too, and I can’t wait to see their story! So many friends-to-lovers vibes! I really loved Alicia’s friend and fellow teacher, Maria, and her husband as well. But all the other people in that town who bullied her as a kid can go take a flying leap. That made me so sad how much she still deals with from them. The only thing I can really say is that I wish we’d gotten to see more of her hero turn later in the story. I’m so here for it!
This story was a sexy delight, but also had great themes about loving yourself, and knowing your worth. I loved watching Miss Simmons finally come into her own, with a little guidance from her Ranger Ranger. He loved her so much, and I adored their connection, and their interactions. There was a gorgeous epilogue, which was such a bonus, and I can’t wait for more in this series. This author continually comes through with great stories, regardless of the length, and I am always anxiously awaiting what’s next!
Kati Wilde knows how to suck you right into her story from the first sentence. Alicia has had a flirtation for the last year with the Forestry Service Ranger. He makes her hungry for his touch and so terribly lonely as she can’t risk having him close. A terrible accident six months ago changed her and she is terrified of what might happen. When Ranger tells her he is going to be in her area and wants to have dinner, she takes the opportunity to have one night with him. Ranger has wanted Alicia since the moment he laid eyes on her but he knows there is something wrong. He is determined to save her and have her by his side for all time. He just hopes she doesn’t run screaming when she finds out he is a werewolf. Lord have mercy, these two are hotter then Florida in August! Alicia’s despair and fear are like a punch to the gut. You can’t help but want her to finally have someone in her life besides her sister. Ranger is such a big, growly guy and he just melts for only Alicia, talk about swoon. All he wants is her happiness and her love. Phenomenal writing, awesome characters and a love that just won’t quit, Teacher’s Pet Wolf was out of this world!
This book had everything you want, intense connection between hero and heroine, interesting storyline, fun side characters. It was so Hot! I mean Scorching! You will want to run out and buy this!
