4.5 of 5 Hearts
This is the follow-up novel to Boss I love to Hate and it did not disappoint. It can be read as a standalone. You will have no problem navigating the characters in this book if you have not read Boss I Love to Hate. I do recommend the first book because you will fall in love with the characters in that book as well.
Teacher I Want to Date sucked me in from the moment I started reading and did not let me go until that very last line. I was addicted and craved the storyline and the characters. These are two people from two different worlds who fall for one another and meld their worlds together.
This book had me in stitches so many times I was wiping my tears and snorting at the same time. Then two seconds later I was swooning at Mason Brisken and Gabby Cruz.
Mason Brisken takes the overprotective uncle to a whole new level when it comes to his niece Sarah. You cannot help but shake your head at the man in disagreement on the moment and then nod in agreement the next. What you can agree on is the saucy teacher Gabby Cruz to always set him straight.
This book is filled with tons of supporting cast that you will fall in love with from Mason’s family to Gabby’s large family you cannot get enough of.
One-Click this bad boy and fall in love with Mason and Gabby.
Teacher I Want To Date is cute and sweet. Gabby is fire and sass. She’s hilarious but also has a huge heart. Mason is predictable and set in his ways at first. These two couldn’t be more perfect for each other. They are the epitome of opposites attract and I loved getting their story.
Both coming from big families, I loved both of their families. Encouraging and inspiring these families stay true to themselves. Teacher I Want To Date will have you swooning over the “nice guy” and proves nice guys don’t always finish last.
Mia Kayla wows readers again with her new release Teacher I Want to Date, the follow up novel to Boss I Love to Hate. Now if you were a fan of Kayla’s witty banter in her BILTH, then you’ll be excited because she features the same humor in this new release.
In Teacher I Want to Date, Mia features brother no. 3, Mason. Totally devoted uncle to his two nieces Sarah and Mary, Mason really is just plain awkward but in the most wonderful way. It’s his awkwardness that propels this story into comedic bliss. Mia really stepped out of her typical fairytale romance comfort zone with this one and I loved it!
5 Star Review Teacher I Want To Date by Mia Kayla
Mia Kayla is a new author to me and I have no idea why that is and when time permits I will be looking at her other books. This is a well written book that drew me in and kept me entertained from the first to the last chapter.
I fell hard and fast for over protective uncle Mason Brisken. He is organized, a trait I happen to love, caring and his love for his family is heart warming, he ticks the boxes for me. Gabby Cruz is a teacher I would have loved to have. She is fun, feisty, sassy and such a great character that you cannot help but relate too.
Having recently been badly betrayed by her ex Mike, Gabby is still reeling. A misunderstanding between Mason and Gabby leads to an interesting confrontation as well as the police.
Both Mason and Gabby have been badly burned by past relationships and Gabby, in particular is unsure whether she is ready to try a new relationship.
The chemistry between Mason and Gabby is intense, the connection between them obvious. There were a great deal of laugh out loud moments that certainly got me some funny looks from my fellow commuters.
Told in multiple POV’s you cannot help but become invested in the story that Mia Kayla wove. Can Gabby and Mason put their pasts behind them and move on? Can Mason convince Gabby to take a chance on love and in turn find the happiness that they both deserve? Or will their chance at happiness and a relationship be destroyed before it can begin?
These two connected on so many levels it was just awesome to read about. Together they are an explosive couple and I felt as though the pages would combust with the heat scorching off them.
If you are looking for a book that is hot, spicy, romantic and humorous, then look no further.
This was a 3.5 star read for me.
Mia Kayla is a new author for me. While her writing was excellent, I just had a hard time connecting with the characters throughout this particular story.
Mason and Gabby spend the first part of the story with everyone else besides each other. While I like their characters as a whole; Mason is adorably quirky and Gabby is a fiery latina, they didn’t spend enough time together to make their chemistry pop and sizzle until the book is almost half over.
While I love a good secondary character who adds spice, wit and flavor, they shouldn’t take away from the main character, but that is my opinion.
Once Mason and Gabby actually go on a date the story is adorable. Mason really breaks out of his shell, or at least out of his own character traits. Isn’t that what finding the right mate is all about, compromise?
While their families are both great, I personally would have enjoyed them just a tad less, but once again that is my own opinion.
I became an instant Mia Kayla groupie when I read Boss I Love to Hate, the predecessor to this book, Teacher I Want to Date. Everything I loved about Boss is again right here in Teacher…the witty dialogue between Gabby Cruz, the heroine, and Mason Cruz, the hero; the hilarity of the situations those two found themselves in, the differences in their characters (anyone say opposites attract?) I kept asking myself, “How does Mia Kaya come up with these scenes? She must write comedy on the side!”
This is the story of Mason, Brisken Brother No. 3, annoying organized, dedicated to numbers AND healthy food choices but physically awkward. He is totally devoted to his two nieces, Sarah and Mary whom he has helped raise since his brother, Charles, lost his wife. When Sarah announces that she is going to the mall with friends who include three boys, Mason is so disturbed that he decides to follow them. Watching them from afar at the arcade, or so he thought, he is observed by Gabby Cruz, the kids’ teacher, who thinks he is a pedophile and calls the cops. I could not stop laughing!
The whole book continues in this comical vein. Mason takes a good look at Gabby and decides he wants her. He lies to her when he knows she loves to dance and says he also can dance. But he has two left feet so he resorts to YouTube lessons. Until first Gabby’s ex, the married Mike, appears as well as vindictive Janice, the ex-girlfriend. Can Gabby and Mason survive?
From beginning to end, this was a beautifully written story. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone! And, I admit it. I am a true and forever Mia Kayla groupie because she is such a good writer!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review of this book.
4.5 Sweet and Geeky Stars!
I LOVED Mason and his nerdy side! I was drawn to his logical, well planned out life of numbers….and he cooks!!! Gabby was completely opposite and that is what made this one fun to read ~ she completely tipped Mason upside down in the sweetest of ways. I loved the family dynamic on both sides of this one. Mason has a great relationship with his brothers and nieces, but Gabby has the extended Spanish family that is protective, loud and eats well!
This was just the kind of read I needed right now – Mia writes a book that draws you in and delivers a prefect little story, complete with smiles and warmth.
I’m sad that’s it’s over! I love this family! Unputdownable!
Mason Brisken and Gabby Cruz’s story is one that will have you rooting for them. You can’t help but love Mason, who is so honest, caring and so into his family. He loves deep and he loves hard.
Gabby is one character that you can’t help want for Mason. She’s kind, caring and feisty, everything Mason needs. We follow as these two manage their new relationship and watch as they overcome all the obstacles in their way.
The flow is absolutely perfect and I absolutely have fallen in love with this family.
Highly recommended.
*I was given a free advanced copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.*
Teacher I Want to Date is such a fabulous read. If you read Boss I Love to Hate then you have started to meet the Brisken brothers. This is Mason’s book. You will love Mason and his ways. I love getting to know these brothers. You will laugh all the way through with this one. I love how Mason gets back into the dating world. You will adore his relationship with his nieces and how protective he is. Gabby is a wonderful surprise. I love her so much. She is a fantastic ball of energy that Mason needs in his life. This book is filled with so many laughs and some red hot chemistry. I loved Teacher I Want to Date so much. If you haven’t meet the Brisken brothers yet then you need to do so now. Anyone looking for a steamy romantic comedy read look no further because this is the story you need to read. I laughed so hard at Mason’s antics that I had tears rolling down my face. His character definitely made this story in his sweet, awkward and over protective way. I loved his nieces Sarah and Mary but Mary was definitely my favorite. Gabby was also another great character and I loved her and Mason together. I hated Mike. There were a few things in this story I thought was a bit overboard. For example, when it came to Sarah there was no doubt how much Mason loved his niece but he definitely took it too far at times. I also hated how gullible he was when it came to Janice. Although there were a few things that I thought were a bit much, this romance story is one that readers will love. Not only were the main characters great but so were the side characters. If you’re looking for a book that will have you laughing this one does not disappoint. I do wish that we had gotten just a tad bit more in the epilogue but it was sweet. I will definitely be recommending this one to family and friends. I can’t wait to see what story this author comes up with next.
I thought I was in love with Brad and Sonia, but move over… here are Mason and Gabby. I love this couple as much – or even a bit more -than the first. Mason is such a sweetheart and so open and honest.
The couple meet when Mason is following his niece when she is at the mall. Gabby is Sarah’s teacher and calls the cops on him. Mason is immediately attracted to Gabby and arranges to meet the feisty teacher. They are such opposites but they work! Loved the humor (YouTube salsa?). And I enjoyed seeing the Brisken family again.
This story worked for me. I loved it all and wished for a little bit more. But maybe this is not the end of this particular series/family? Look forward to more.
