Teacher I Want to Date is my first book by Mia Kelly. It was a cute read with a fun opposites attract premise.
Straight-laced, slightly neurotic Mason meets fiesty latina Gabby when they both interfere on Mason’s niece’s first date; he as the protective uncle, Gabby as the concerned bystander. While accusing him of something horrible, the fiery woman fires something else up too! He should be aghast but he can’t get the sexy teacher out of his head and he begins a “little sexy, little sweet, little stalkery” pursuit of her.
First the good stuff, I liked the characters very much, Mason is a buttoned up guy in need of mussing and Gabby is a cutie with trust issues. Despite being total opposites, they worked beautifully. I also really enjoyed how close they were with their families, who were funny in their own right. Now for my pet peeve…I’m sorry but I have to say it. I know I was supposed to laugh at their meet cute but it really frustrated me. What she accused him of can have far reaching, life changing effects and shouldn’t be thrown around lightly. I was fine until the bar patrons and the cops got involved but seeing as we very much live in a pitchfork society where oftentimes, a person is tried in the court of public opinion, I really have a hard thing thinking it’s funny. I realize it was supposed to be funny and cute but this is the second time I’ve seen this situation in a week (a book and a TV show), I think as writers, we can do better.
Aside from this one personal issue, I enjoyed the book and would definitely read Ms. Kelly again.

eart warming and funny love story
This is the first book of Mia Kayla’s I have read and I fell in love with the two main characters Gabby and Mason. They are the complete opposites but that’s what makes them so adorable together. The tit for tat disagreement had me laughing especially when Gabby called the police on Mason while he was spying on his niece. I loved how involved they both were with their families and how grounded they both were. I honestly couldn’t put this down. I laughed, cried then smiled In contentment by the end. I received this as an arc to give an honest opinion and all I can say I would read any Mia Kayla book based on this beautiful love story and I would read it again.
Hilarious and fun from start to finish! Loved the chemistry between Gabby and Mason, even the fact that their meet cute was anything but! They are total opposites, yet somehow they balance each other in the best way. It did weird me out how involved Mason was in his niece’s life, but I get that it comes from a place of caring and love, given how tight knit his family is. Liked seeing their interactions evolve into something more, especially since they both had horrendous experiences with relationships. I will say that I liked the fact that Mason knows he wants to get married and have a family; that’s something that’s rare in books these days (at least the ones I’m reading lol).
I just loved this book so much! As always, I am in awe of Mia Kayla. “Teacher I Want to Date” is a book that took my heart and still has not given it back. I loved how the story was different than normal Opposites Attracts romances (and other romances too) were the main characters had to be all alpha (don’t get my wrong, I do too) but Mason was more than this, he was realistic of today’s world and sometimes he is guy you want. I love how the author went with this story and it’s definitely her best work so far and a top favourite read of 2020 for me. It has all the feels, was dramatic, drama filled, with delicious moments that were sexy and sweet, richly detailed and well written with characters who snuck their way into my heart (especially the nieces) and I loved the secondary characters too and can’t wait to read more from this family abc this talented and spectacular author. Seriously, you need to read this book today. Happy reading everyone!!
Teacher I Want To Date

This was again another of my most anticipated reads for early 2020, and it didn’t disappoint! We met Mason Brisken in Boss I Love To Hate as the brother to Brad and Charles Brisken. The poor guy is misunderstood, he’s calculated, uncoordinated, and likes everything pre organised. The man has calendars for everything, it was funny and sad all at once, but I loved him and his love for his family. I think he is my favourite Brisken.
All singing, all dancing school teacher Gabby Cruz is fun, sweet and a spitfire as Mason found out after following his niece Sarah on a shopping trip. In a funny yet serious run in, words were spat, police were called and emotions ran high. Now Mason can’t get her out if his head, and he’s going to fix that.
For both Mason and Gabby, their last relationships were rocky at best , actually they were train wrecks… Both with cheating scum bags Gabby is mire than hesitant to give into Mason, but the man is hot, sexy and does to dance . Poor Mason.., he always cops the raw end of the deal in everything. Both his brothers have settled down , found their forever loves and thinks maybe he’ll never get his.
In a humerus yet kind of sad story, Mason tries everything to win over Gabby. Once she finally gives in, their “non relationship” has its ups and downs. They’re explosive in the bedroom, their chemistry is HOT but as always their pasts constantly rests their ugly beads adding for fire to a fragile love life. Never fear, Mason will pull out al the stops, if he isn’t your favourite by half way through this book the ending certainly will have it in cement for you.
Thank you to Mia for yet another fantastic read. The Brisken men have solidified a special place in my heart.
This was a good read. I just couldn’t warm up to Gabby. There was just something about her I just didn’t care for.
I loved this book. Gabby is a strong independent woman who’s been dealt a crappy hand, her father leaving when she was young and her ex boyfriend lying to her about being married. She loves and looks after her mom and sisters, her entire family for that matter. Mason is kinda quirky, germaphob and a neat freak. He lost both of his parents and is extremely close to his brothers and nieces. When they first meet Gabby calls the cops on him thinking he’s a creeper but he was just looking out for his niece. They each can’t stop thinking of each other. When they finally get together there’s fireworks. Highly recommended book.
This book is adorable! Gabby and Mason are not perfect but absolutely amazing! I loved how Gabby helped Mason grow and change into someone who learned how to have fun, but also I loved how Mason treated Gabby. He knew exactly what she needed before she did and never asked for more than she could give. Mason ‘s relationship with his family grew so much in this book and I felt like by the end of the book they understood each other much better! Fantastic book! Hopefully we see more of the characters in another book!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. My take away and good feels about this book are all about the family relationships. Family played an essential role in this story. The author did a great job in building characters with enough depth to show the complexity of their relationships. I absolutely loved the tight knit families, their relationships were heart-warming! And those uncles! Fierce protectors for those they love! Seriously, HOT!!
Gabby and Mason met in a hilarious, unconventional way, but that one meeting was enough for Mason. He knew right then and there that Gabby meant something. Gabby, still reeling from serious heart break doesn’t want anything to do with Mason. But he doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Mason knows Gabby is the one, now he just has to prove it to her.
I found Mason to be a refreshing change from usual alpha male leads. The author created a hot guy who was both alpha (in his protectiveness for those he loved) and a neurotic nerd (he worries about impressing, loves to crunch numbers, and organize closets). A balance that gave us a fun, flawed, but lovable character to drool over! These two are the polar opposite, but yet exactly what they need.
There were a couple story parts that were predictable, but it didn’t stop my enjoyment of the story. It really was a fun read and I am looking forward to this author’s next book.
If you are looking for a fun, whimsical and all-around good time read, TEACHER I WANT TO DATE by Mia Kayla is the book to grab.
A quirky male lead who is a sweetheart that has no idea how hot he is,
a strong female that tells it how it is and wants all good things for all around her plus a super sweet kid that likes to get involved with all her Uncle’s happening fills these pages with absolute fun.
A must-read and a super plot-driven good time.
Highly recommend.
This was my first Mia Kayla book & I’m definitely a fan! I loved Mason! He’s such a sweet, overprotective guy and I really enjoyed that he’s not necessarily the typical book Hero.
Gabby was so hilarious. I loved how outspoken she was, and even though she was a bit frustrating at times I thought she was a great h!
I’m definitely going to have to go back and read more of Mia’s books!
This is my first book by Mia Kayla and most certainly won’t be my last. I was in need of something fun and entertaining to read and Teacher I Want to Date was just that for me. Mason stole my heart from the beginning. He was so innocent and sweet and swoony. Boy, did I swoon for this man and his brother? Well… I’m completely in love with them both.
Mason may be sweet, but it often gets him into trouble in the funniest ways.. Mason wants a family, children and all the things that come along with it and he thought he was going to have that with his ex’s but not because she’s his ex.
Gabby is strong-willed, shes very much independent and just went through heartache/break and isn’t ready to climb back on that horse again. She just wants to focus on her job as a teacher and get on with her life and for the most part, she is doing that.
Gabby is Mason’s niece’s teacher and the way they meet will have you in stitches… From the beginning, you can see these two were meant to be together… The attraction and chemistry between these two are insane and so undeniable.
All in all, this was a fun read, it was swoony, and had my heart fluttering. It had just the right amount of heat, chemistry, and swooniness with some good laughs throughout. I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to discover more of Ms. Kayla’s books!
5 Stars!
I love cute stories. Love does not always have to be heavy and filled with heartache. Sometimes love is just fun, so when I saw the title and read the blurb, I thought this will be fun. And it was, but something about it just didn’t work for me.
Mason . . . I found the hero to not be a nice guy yes, alpha male, no! Gabby . . . I found the heroine to be all over the place. Sweet, yes . . . but a tad bit ditzy. I never really felt a connection between them. I never felt I got to know the characters.
There was a good family dynamic, though at times bordering on weird. There were funny moments, yet sometimes the humor was childish.
I just never seemed to be able to lose myself in this story. I just never found the rhythm of the words. Don’t get me wrong, there are good moments and it’s a cute story, just not mind-blowing!
Mia Kayla’s Teacher I Want to Date was a fun opposites attract romance.
Gabby and Mason’s first meeting definitely put them at odds, but they quickly warmed up to one another into an odd sort of friendship with an attraction that was too hot to ignore.
Mason really is a good guy, even if he is a planner and a bit regimented in his routines making him seem boring and stuffy at times. He lives for the expected, which is why Gabby is such an amazing curveball to hit him with, as she is anything but expected! Gabby is super passionate and an act before you think live for the moment type of person. She makes Mason more spontaneous and he treats her like an absolute queen. Unfortunately, they both have baggage from their exes coming between their wonderful new romance adding plenty of drama to this story.
It did take me a bit to get into this story. I had a bit of a hard time with Mason at first and was slow to warm up to his character, but I ended up really loving him! What I felt was simply overbearing was really him wearing his heart on his sleeve and caring so much about those he loves. And his grand gestures are out of this world!
Teacher I Want to Date was fiery and passionate yet sweet and romantic all wrapped into one crazy couple. 4 stars.
I loved Teacher I Want to Date! It had so many feels and was so funny. The chemistry in Mason and Gabby’s relationship is on fire!
Mia Kayla has done it again with a sweet, funny, overprotective yet awesome story of a man so in love he has no idea how much groveling he has to do to get his woman. We saw a little of Mason Brisken in his brother Charles book before but boy does Mia Kayla do a great job of bringing him in. He has seen what his brother’s have found with their women and it is making him see that what he has is not really love until her. All he wants is the same kind of love everybody has found but the hot, sexy and beautiful teacher doesn’t want him at all. Now I love how Mia makes these two circle around each other yet in a funny way how easily they connect with one another. Gabby is everything her name says she is beautiful, spicy and tons of action that makes Mason work harder for her attention. These two are great with each other and boy seeing Mason do things he has never done before like dancing is hillarious. All in all Teacher I Want to Date is one hot read by Mia Kayla worth getting. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
My joy these days is finding authors that make me happy. I have found a new author, Mia Kayla, and she has brought great joy into my life. I just read her for the first time. The book is entitled Teacher I want to Date. I didn’t expect the fun and laugh out loud romp I was getting. I am so happy I read this. At one point I was laughing so much I had tears running down my face. You will know when you get to the dance scene. It’s about Mason, a by the books kind of guy (CPA) and Gabby, a free spirit elementary teacher. What a fun read. I highly recommend this book for those that want to laugh and smile as they read a fun romance.
My first read by this author and it won’t be my last. After reading this I definitely want to read the other book, Boss I Love to Hate. It’s a standalone but an interconnected standalone. This book is funny, sweet, steamy, and just a little bit of drama.
Mason is super hot and just a little nerdy. He’s “hot for teacher” and there’s no going back. He’s a hopeless romantic with a big heart for for the ones he loves. He’ll make you swoon so hard.
Gabby is independent and head strong. Her heart is guarded from some unfortunate experiences. She cares deeply and gives with her all. And then comes Mason crashing into her life making her think things that she’d rather just push away.
Overall, a definite, must read!
A great book about families, the very different ways they love and the effects and affects of when that love fails. Mason is the youngest of three sons left by their deceased parents with a mansion and a very prosperous business to run. The story starts with the deep bond between him and his 13-year-old niece which he is about to ruin by following her out to the mall on her first ‘date.’ But as he does track after her, he comes face to face with a bombshell of a Latino American, Gabby, calling the police on him. Readers are immediately caught up in their love/hate relationship and the effects and affect they cause each other! We see how his planned and executed kind of love works as well as how his brother Brad’s spontaneous methods work for him. You’ll fall for this millionaire family including young kindergarten niece Mary, who loves her uncles with a fierceness not to be denied! And the happy ever after ending both surprises and satisfies because it is so-o Mason!
The storyline was well written and the well rounded characters grabbed my attention from the very beginning! As each and every page was turned I felt like Gabby and Mason pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!
