I loved this book, the story line was so interesting and the complicated personalities of both characters just brought it to another level, they were opposites but the same with a weird kind of chemistry and some hot sex thrown in. What I really liked about this book, is that it concentrated more on their relationship and less on the sex, don’t get me wrong I do love the hot sex, but sometimes it can be way too much and it buries the story. The only problem I had with this story is that for almost half of the book we learn how Ford is devastated by his heart being broken by Rook, and yet he falls in love with Ashleigh in less than a week, strange. All over this is a great series and I am so glad that Ford got his own story, he is adorable.
I think I just found my favorite JA Huss book. My goodness, Ford is everything. While I constantly pulled for him to be with Rook, all while knowing that wouldn’t happen, I see now they were meant to remain at friendship. While they were great together, Rook is too what Ford thinks he needs, and not what he actually does. Ashliegh is what he does need; someone to challenge him, someone to make him want to be touched, and want a family.
I think what this story really had going for it was its showcasing of Ford’s “other” side. He sees a woman with a baby who needs help badly and gives it to her. For no specific reason other than being a nice guy, he continues to help her. The more time they spend together, the more he falls for her.
Ford is a complex character and this book reveals all about him. He was given characteristics I hadn’t otherwise seen. I think by Ash having Kate already, this was a perfect plot point. He didn’t realize what he wanted until he had it. If there was no Kate involved, would he ever want the family thing with Ashleigh? Maybe not.
Downside to this book, was the development of them and their relationship was perfect up until the ending. I found the end a bit rushed, considering the fantastic development throughout up until that point.
Great read and very addicting! Ford is a fantastic, romantic guy!
OMG I love Ford Aston! He’s peculiar and weird in his own way but he is also an amazing and great guy and when he is in he’s all in. When he first started showing up in Rook and Ronins story I knew he wasn’t right for Rook. Ashleigh was the perfect fit for him and the fact that Ashleigh came with a little Kate, they were the perfect fit. I loved this entire story and I can’t wait to read more!
All hail JA Huss. She delivered. Nuff said
