Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour. So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more … anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.
Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.
But for their daughter.

I have been a fan of Devney Perry’s since her very first book. I must say…her writing gets better and better with each book. I really think Logan and Thea may be my favorite couple so far (and I’ve read them all). We first meet Logan in The Clover Chapel and I wanted him to get his own HEA. This is a spinoff of The Jamison Valley series and it couldn’t have been better.
Thea hasn’t had the best start in life. She hasn’t had it easy, she didn’t have money, or family, or anyone really…except Hazel and Jackson. Logan has it ALL–rich family, successful business, loyal friends, etc….but all he knows is work. He and Thea meet up ONCE…..but they both agreed it was a one time thing. Neither knew the other’s name, or anything else(no strings attached kind of hook-up). Imagine their surprise when they meet back up. NOW they both have something in common!!! HOLY MOLY!!!! They have never forgotten each other, and the amazing chemistry they shared that night. They are from different worlds though—how could they ever be together when they are so different?
I loved the rollercoaster of emotions and the FEELS that this book gave me. I love Thea for being so strong….and I loved Logan because he isn’t like the spoiled, rich kid with the obnoxious attitude. He is caring and trusting, and LOVING. After he meets back up with Thea and realizes what all he has missed out on, he will stop at nothing to prove that!!
This author never fails to disappoint and I LOVED that she delivered once again with this book!!
Tattered has to be one of the most romantic stories I have ever read! From the start it melted my heart, I was hooked on the story and loved Thea and Logan! Six years ago they met at the bar Thea was working at, the chemistry between them was off the charts HOT! They spent one magical and memorable night together, walked away the next day without exchanging last names or phone numbers. Which they both have regretted, Logan because he couldn’t stop thinking about Thea and how special their connection is. Thea because that wonderful night left her with the best gift ever….their daughter Charlie (which by the way has to be the most adorable tomboy ever!) Fast forward 6 years later, when Thea and Logan cross paths and it brings one hell of a big shock and surprise to Logan….You’re a daddy! Y’all really need to read this book to see how it all turns out! I promise you won’t regret it. From the moment I read Devney’s first book (The Coppersmith Farmhouse) she had quickly became one of my all time favorite authors!!
I couldn’t put this book down!
The journey through Thea & Logan’s relationship will leave you with all the feels. I love how easily Logan accepted the role of dad and actively took an interest in getting to know his daughter all while trying to build a relationship with Thea.
I can’t wait to read more from this series!
Tattered by author Devney Perry is the first book in the Lark Cove Series. It starts the series off with the most heartwarming, all consuming romance novel. This contemporary romance made my nerve endings sizzle and my heart gallop with happiness. The words and story kissed my soul.
Thea met Logan one night six years ago. The night was unforgettable and gave her the greatest gift of all…Charlie. Thea is a strong and resilient single mom with a past filled with heart break and loneliness. She devotes herself to giving her daughter the life she never had as a child.
Logan is successful and sexy. He thought a lot about Thea over the six years and when he sees her again he gets the surprise of his life.
Tattered takes you on a journey of love, growth and learning how to parent and co parent. The love story is phenomenal and I can’t recommend this book enough. I truly love the stories that this author writes.
This book was everything and more. I love second chance stories and I love them even more when a secret is not really supposed to be a secret and opps….years later. Tattered is the first book in the new Lark Cover series. Its a stellar beginning to what I feel is going to an amazing series. Denver Perry has become one of my favorite go to authors. She has quickly found her place in Contemporary Romance due to her ability to craft a perfectly written story. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
Emotionally captivating inside and out.
Soul-stirring.
Heart-melting.
And blindingly unputdownable.
Tattered is a timeless tale of pure love and hope and family. Of a relationship that burned brighter than the sun. It brought tears to my eyes and made my heart swell so much, it was damn near bursting at the seams. Thea Landry and Logan Kendrick’s story isn’t like any other second chance romance I’ve read. It gutted me. It possessed me. It spoke down to my very soul. It buried itself deep in my heart, I know I’ll be carrying it for a long, long time. Hell, just remembering bits and pieces of a novel that was truly anything but tattered still squeeze at my heart and I’m overcome with the rush of feels all over again.
”I like to take the tattered and lost and make it shine. Garbage doesn’t have to stay garbage. Things just need to find their right place.”
Devney Perry has absolutely outdone herself with the beginning of this newest series. She’s woven yet another beautifully compelling story that has stolen me completely. I couldn’t take my eyes away from this book, nor close it or set it aside. I just wanted to devour every line, every page, every moment of it right from the second I passed that prologue, and even long after the book was over. It was that outstanding.
”She loved me. But she also needed to love herself.”
If you want to read a book that will touch every nook and cranny of your entire being—one that will make your skin tingle and your heart filled to the brim with so much light, love and hope, do yourself a huge favor and pick this up. If you ever want to fall in love with a second chance romance with characters so gut-wrenchingly real and strong, this book is for you. Logan, Thea and the sweetest little girl—Charlie—will own you long before you reach the last page. Trust me.
I fell in love with Devney Perry’s writing while reading The Birthday List. So when i saw that she was bringing out a new book i couldn’t wait to read. And once again i have fallen for her beautiful words in this story and she has pulled on my heartstrings.
“I like to take the tattered and lost and make it shine. Garbage doesn’t have to stay garbage. Things just need to find their right place.”
Tattered by Devney Perry is an adorably sweet, swoon worthy, heartwarming romance, with just the right amount of angst.
Logan and Thea have a very memorable one night stand. Five years later they meet again, and again this will be a very memorable meeting. As it the first time Logan finds out he’s a dad to an adorable little girl and Thea finally gets to speak to Logan! For the last five years all Thea has had was picture of Logan she drew from memory, no last name, no number nothing.
From this we get a beautiful second chance romance story of strength and hope. Of passion and love, and not giving up, fighting for what you want in your heart.
FAMILY
Devney Perry knows how to write so her words touch your heart and soul. Her writing flows wonderfully and keeps you captivated. She brings her storylines, characters, and emotions to life in such a way you feel their connection and inward struggles.
The second book in the series has already been announced TIMID, and this is Willa and Jackson’s story. I absolutely can’t wait to see what’s next in the Lark Cove series. Once you’ve read TATTERED you will definitely understand why!!
I always forget how much I love secret baby romance tropes until I find myself in the middle of a secret baby book, pulse all aflutter, and heart a complete pile of mush.
I mean, that’s exactly what happened here. It was impossible not to fall totally head-over-heels in love with Charlie. She might be my very favorite thing about this book. But I also loved how strong and dedicated Thea was. She’s #momgoals and I was charmed by the relationship she had with her daughter, and the life she’d built for them against all odds.
That said, I also completely loved the sort of Cinderella/fairytale aspect that Logan brought to the picture. He’s a solid hero – though sometimes a little hard headed and short sighted. It warmed my heart to see how quickly his heart warmed toward Thea and Charlie. It’s not insta-love necessarily, but things move pretty quickly and I think it is because all these characters are so completely likable that this was not an issue for me. My heart went happily along for the ride!
There is a thread of mystery running through the greater love story and it added a fun and exciting extra level to the story. I might have liked a little more grit to that storyline, and a little more shock to the big reveal, but it’s a minor part of the storyline and I am overall completely happy with how things played out.
I’m excited to spend more time in Lark Cove. There are lots of stories to tell here, I think, and if they all leave me this satisfied? This is going to be a fantastic journey!
Secret baby romance? Count me in!!
Seriously, who doesn’t love a secret baby romance with all the “oh my god, I’m a father” reactions. And then when he meets the child for the first time—the wonder and awe is just stunning! And that’s just what happens to Logan when meeting Charlie for the first time! Logan’s totally overwhelmed and out of his element, but he’s bound and determined to win her over and her love. And Charlie, that little scene stealer, doesn’t make it easy!
And neither does her mother.
Thea’s done her absolute best to make a family and give Charlie the love and family she never had. But Thea’s holding on to her heart. Sure she never forgot the one night—the one amazing, sexy, unforgettable night—she spent with Logan, but she’s determined to set aside her feelings to ensure Charlie gets to know and spend time with her father.
But Logan’s bound and determined not to let her. Logan’s thought about that one night with Thea often. And he won’t let her go again—there’s something there, something magical between them, and he’s all in on earning both Thea and Charlie’s love. To show them that they can be a family.
Swoon. Seriously, swoon. I loved how Logan and Thea were willing to sacrifice just about anything to make it all happen. I couldn’t help but root for them, that they’d figure out the geography to make sure they stayed together. That they’d sacrifice and compromise to end up together. It was touch and go there for a while, but I was fully satisfied with where they ended up in the end!
Tattered is book 1 in the Lark Cove series and I’m anxious to see what happens next with Willa and Jackson!
Like the rest of Devney Perry’s books, I could not put “Tattered” down! I was immediately drawn in. I loved the story and her rich, well developed characters! Devney has a natural talent in creating such an entertaining story, a picturesque location and the feeling that you are in the story! This book tugged at my heart. I loved Charlie, Thea and Logan! What a great story of love, family and friends! I am so excited to dig into Devney’s next book in the Lark Cove Series. Can’t wait!
I have waited for Logan’s story since The Clover Chapel and Tattered did not disappoint!
This unique twist on the surprise baby and second chance romance tropes feel fresh and intriguing under Devney’s hand. Thea is the type of strong heroine that there should be in more books (and in the world). Her love for her daughter and resilience in dealing with all of her baggage shines through on every page. Logan is thrown the curveball of his life and does so with the kind of swoon-worthy success that I have come to expect from a Devney hero. This story, and Charlie’s personality, wrapped itself around my heart making me love, hurt for, and cheer on these characters.
Devney creates an incredible sense of community and family, both blood and bond, in her tales of small-town Montana that make you want to be a part of it. Her incredible blend of heartfelt storytelling, heated encounters, incredibly fleshed out characters, and perfect pacing guide you a journey through Lark Cove that pulls at your heartstrings before giving you the happily ever after ending that Thea, Logan, and Charlie deserve.
This is a one sitting kind of read and perfect to cure your reading hangover from the Jamison Valley Series. Now I can’t wait for Timid. Bring on Willa and Jackson!
‘I like to take the tattered and lost and make it shine. Garbage doesn’t have to stay garbage. Things just need to find their right place.’
This is a lesson that Thea Landry learned the hard way, but it’s also one that allowed her to leave her lonely and insecure life in New York City and find courage, confidence, and peace as well as a group of people she considers family in Lark Cove, Montana, and now that she’s found her rightful place and the perfect small town to raise her daughter, Thea has no intention of looking back…that is until her one-night stand/father of her little girl shows up in her Lark Cove bar 6 years later, giving Logan Kendrick the chance to meet his daughter and providing Thea and Logan the opportunity to prove the undeniable attraction and connection that led them to exploring each other’s bodies for one glorious night could be something that lasts forever, despite the hurdles that stand in their way.
One aspect of Devney Perry’s storytelling that I’ve come to appreciate is the way in which she utilizes every facet of the story to play a significant role in the hero and heroine’s lives. In Tattered, Logan and Thea are heavily influenced and shaped by the settings of the story as well as its secondary characters. Logan’s New York City lifestyle, his workaholic demeanor, and his Kendrick family name dictate the kind of life he lives as well as the kind of man he has become. He’s a take charge man – one who hates to lose and hates to feel out of control, which is exactly why the situation with Thea and his daughter, Charlie, is problematic for him. He’s a fixer and a solver, but those skills don’t help him to connect with his 5 year old child or the woman he’s never stopped thinking about since the night that categorically changed their lives six years ago.
For Thea, Lark Cove and its inhabitants, especially Hazel and Jackson, have given her a place that truly feels like home. She found her own happiness in this little town in Montana, and she’s unwilling to give that feeling up, especially to head back to the place where she never fit in and never felt good enough, and that idea is only compounded by the fact that she didn’t fit into Logan’s New York City world and she never would.
But while it seems like Thea and Logan’s contradictory lifestyles and their different geographical locations are insurmountable obstacles, these two characters have their priorities straight, meaning one way or another, they will do what’s best, first and foremost, for their daughter and hopefully for themselves as well.
Devney Perry is my kind of romance writer; her storylines are character and content driven, meaning that everything that occurs is essential to move the plot forward; there’s no unnecessary drama and the steamy scenes illustrate the growing connection between the hero and the heroine, and all of these qualities is what makes Tattered an entertaining and heartfelt read.
4.5 Poison Apples
Freakin’-A, man. Devney Perry knows how to deliver a fantastic story. Tattered had me in knots, completely obsessed with finishing the book, while never wanting it to end. While it may not have surpassed The Birthday List as my favorite book by her, it comes in a close second. Thea and Logan’s story was sublime and just completely sated a need in my heart I didn’t know was there.
Tattered hit on a some of my favorite tropes, rich-poor, surprise-child, family-by-love-not-blood, and did it beautifully. I can’t express how masterfully Ms. Perry constructed this story and made several moving parts, not all harmonious, work together and create such a poignant tale of love and healing. Thea’s story, in particular, ripped my heart to pieces, but in true Devney Perry style, she knit those pieces back together and made my simultaneously more compassionate and more resilient.
Thea was everything. She may have come from less than nothing, but her strength, her drive, her fierce love and protection for those she loved made her worth more than anyone she encountered – maybe not Hazel, that woman was amazing, too. I loved that she never allowed anything to come before her and her daughter’s needs and happiness. She knew herself well enough and had fought hard enough in her life, to know loving herself was the key to making all the other parts of her life work. She was phenomenal.
Logan surprised me. From the beginning of the story, he was completely different than I had expected, better. Even when he was being obtuse and planning a life he hadn’t consulted Thea about, there was still something charming and compassionate about his choices. I appreciated that he was able to identify when he’d done something wrong and took steps to rectify those poor choices. Most of all, I loved how completely devoted he was to Charlie (their daughter) as soon as he found out about her.
Tattered is the first book in Devney Perry’s Lark Cove series. These books are interconnected standalones and will not need to be read in order for continuity, but honestly, if you read Devney Perry’s work, you’re going to want to read them all. Tattered is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Thea and Logan.
Devney Perry is proving herself to be the master of emotionally charged, put-my-heart-through-a-blender stories. She has an impeccable style that lends well to the type of powerful storylines and can deliver wonderful healing arcs for her characters with ease. Every time I pick up one of her books I am more impressed with how gifted a wordsmith she is, and I’m in awe of her skill.
A fantastic read and great start to a new series! I absolutely loved Logan! Sexy, sweet and totally swoon worthy. Thea so strong and perfect for Logan, and Charlie steals the show. A great storyline, chemistry and a twist that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book!
Wow! I absolutely loved this story! This is a first read for me of Devney’s books and let me just say…..I am now a HUGE fan. If you haven’t bought this book, you must do so now!
I love a book that will suck me in and make make it all feel so real and this one did just that! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Devney had a way of bringing out so many emotions in me from start to finish. Tattered was beautifully written and a story that I could read over and over again!
This book deserves no less.
To say that I loved this book is an understatement. Just like any Devney Perry books – Tattered will consume you. It will captivate you, held you helpless for a couple of days after you read it, and it will just make you ache to read it one more time.
Thea Landry is one brave, courageous woman who have been through a whole lot. She was dump as a child in a trash by her very own mother, and finally – she grew up in an orphanage where no one wanted to take her until she turned 18. Her life was basically boring, and routinary until Logan came into the bar she was working in, and gave her the most amazing night there is.
But that amazing night resulted into something. Something that she couldn’t tell him since she didn’t have his number or even his last name. There was no way of seeing him again. Or so she thought, until six years later, he strutted into the small-town bar she owned, and she just knew life will never be the same again.
Only this time, she was ready to fight with everything she has because she has someone to fight for – her daughter.
I like them both. They have strong personalities, but they know how to compromise, or at least they try for their daughter. Logan was welcome to the fact that he has a daughter – and was willing to do anything to be in her life. Thea was open to the fact that Logan was here – and wanted to become a father. She helps him win their daughter and gives him pointers. But having business in the city, and commuting back and forth would never work. Soon, someone has to give up something. The question is who?
Devney Perry gives you a complete package – wonderful, complex and interesting characters, amazingly plot novel, heartwarming and heartbreaking storyline and an air of mystery – there is no way you will miss this or you’d dare put it down.
How am I suppose to write a review for this book that consumed me from the very beginning? Devney Perry has quickly become an automatic read for me. Her characters are always well round and captivating, this story is no different.
We first meet Logan in The Clover Chapel. Fast forward 6 months after his break up with Emmaline, and Logan finds himself back in Montana working for his family’s foundation. Fate steps in and he runs into a one night stand he had in New York 6 years ago, the woman he could never forget. Upon this fateful meeting Logan finds out he left something behind that night 6 years ago, his daughter Charlie.
Thea and Charlie have got to be some of my favorite characters I’ve ever read about. Thea literally has overcome so much in her life. She yearns for affection and wanting to belong somewhere and to someone before leaving New York for the small community in Montana. Being a single mom among other things gives her purpose. I absolutely love her strength and resilience to build a life of her own for Charlie.
Logan is the rich single lawyer from NYC, who knows nothing about being a dad, not having money, and how to fit into Thea and Charlie’s lives. This book is so emotionally fascinating and inspiring. I read it in one sitting, staying until 230 am just to finish, who needs sleep right?
I am absolutely obsessed with this new cast of characters and I can not wait for book 2!
Sweet, swoony, loving love and held me right to my chair until the very end. I adored Charlie!
Logan…whew he’s all kinds of yummy. Strength, resilience and knowing what’s best for you in the world even if it hurts…..Thea is a fabulous leading lady whose grown and taken her life for herself.
This is one of those reads that’s blooms a warm spot in your heart and it keeps growing until the very end where you sit back and think….wow…that was on darn great book!
Holy goodness! THIS BOOK! Gahhhhhh! When I picked it up I knew it was going to be pretty amazing, I mean come on, it’s Devney! When has her work ever been bad? That’s right, never! She throws so much emotion into one book that you feel it all the way down, deep into your soul! Tattered is EVERYTHING! It’s such a beautiful, heartfelt story. This is my favourite book of Devneys’s so far. I’m already hanging out for Timid to be released!
Thea and Logan have one night of passion. That one night results in something that will change them both forever. Thea is so sweet, but her life hasn’t always been so great. God how I felt for her!! Her backstory is truely saddening. I just wanted to reach inside the book and give her a hug!
Logan comes from a well off family. He is a little clueless as he navigates his way through this new experience. I really loved the passion he had for Thea and Charlie, how fierce and protective he was over them.
Thea and Logan have a connection that 6 years couldn’t break. They are truly soulmates through and through.
I cried a bit through this book! Ok, it was more than a bit, but there was so much emotion in this story that I couldn’t help myself! I love a good cry book. I could feel so much love radiating from the pages of this story. Well, that was until we met Logan’s parents. I almost didn’t forgive them but they redeemed themselves in the end. And wow, I did not expect that twist either!
This book is so remarkable. I was captivated right from the start and I devoured the words fairly quickly. I was so sad when it was over but the epilogue was so good!! Ahhh my heart! Jackson is so intriguing as well! I can not wait for Timid’s release. I’m so really to fall in love with the broken man that is Jackson. I don’t know if I can wait that long though! I love love LOVE Tattered in every single way, and I recommend picking up this book and giving it a read.
Let me just start by saying, it doesn’t get any better than this! I absolutely loved Thea, Logan and Charlie!
Thea grew up being discarded and unwanted. New York was a place of misery and pain. When a one night stand leaves her pregnant she moves to Montana where the only family she’s ever known lives. It is there she begins to build her confidence back up and raise her child.
Logan has bad memories of Montana so he’s not happy about his visit there. However, one visit to the local restaurant/bar in Lark Cove and he can’t believe what he’s seeing. Years ago he had had a one night stand with Thea. Afterwards, life got in the way and he missed the opportunity to make something more with her. Now his whole life has changed between one breath and the next.
Oh man I loved both of these characters. Thea, while being secure in her life and finding extreme joy in her daughter, Charlie, still held herself back from making attachments with others. It was going to take more than empty words to break down the walls she had built. Logan was so gun-ho about pulling Thea and Charlie into his life, he just couldn’t stop long enough to see that just because he willed something so, it would actually come true. I did wonder if he’d ever open his eyes to truly see the struggles Thea was experiencing. Let me assure you, it is possible to love a hero and still want to smack him upside the head.
The issues this couple faced seemed insurmountable without someone walking away losing a bit of their heart and soul. I hurt for them as they fought against the conflict, accepted it, and had to make hard decisions that would leave them both broken. I wanted to rant and rave because the angst at that point was so gut wrenching! They belonged together and yet life was pulling them apart!
It’s no secret this is a secret baby book but this author covered this issue in a manner that neither Thea nor Logan were responsible for the secrecy. They were each pretty much free from guilt which gave this story the ability to be and do more than most books with this trope do.
This is such a well written story with a smooth pace, never bogging down and never a place I wanted to skim. The chemistry between these two was fierce and neither could ever deny that. I felt that Charlie’s character was true to that of a six year old and other secondary characters were just as amazing and well developed. There is so much potential for future books here! But for now I’m going to just sit back and relax in the intense joy and satisfaction that I found in this book.
