Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour. So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more … anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.
Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.
But for their daughter.

I love a book that surprises me and Tattered did so repeatedly. Just when I thought I knew how the characters would react and where the plot was headed, something unexpected would happen – in the best of ways. Tattered was a fun, page-turner of a read and I absolutely loved and related to the characters.
Loved it! Couldn’t put it down
I liked the book . I wish it had been a stand alone book.
Great story
I really liked it. A mother making a decision based on the happiness of her child rather than herself and the father making the same decision was awe inspiring.
Enjoyed very much, liked Charlie!
It was a good story and quick read
Small town
Strong heroine
Hero that listens
Ticks all the boxes!
Thea Landry has fought hard to overcome her past, abandoned at birth and raised in an orphanage. She is raising her five-year daughter, Charlie, who is the love of her life. Charlie is her gift from a one-night stand with a man who entered her life only to be gone the next day. Logan Kendrick lives in New York where he manages his family’s business and foundation. When he makes a return trip to Montana six years later, he learns that he has a daughter. Charlie is enchanting and he has missed so much of her life. How can he earn her trust and love while living so far away? After a brief visit to his home, his hopes that Charlie and Thea will move to New York are dashed. The main characters of Thea, Charlie and Logan are so well written and genuine. Thea’s strength and protection for her only child while trying to move beyond her past. Logan’s determination to find a compromise that will make them all happy. Charlie’s need to live in the town that she loves. This is not a story where the man is furious to find out that he has a daughter, but a story of a man who instantly falls in love with his daughter and only wants the best for her and her mother. An absolutely charming romance and I can’t wait to read the other books in the series. I bought this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
SO SWEET!
I’m so happy that Logan got his HEA. If I’m being honest I didn’t like him before, but he was never a bad guy, he just needed the perfect person, and that was Thea!
I love that Devney Perry created another amazing small town community with amazing secondary characters with this new series. And I also love that she keeps making the climax of her books blow my mind!
I strongly recommend you to read Tattered! Or ANY Devney Perry book. SHE IS AMAZING!
This is my first Devney Perry book and I liked it. The characters, for the most part, were well developed and likeable. The story line was believable and well developed. One thing that took away from the story for me and seemed unnecessary and out of character was the online threat Thea was subjected to and the fact that she didn’t pay attention to the implied danger to her and her daughter. Also, a couple of the characters seemed like cliches to me (Logan’s bratty younger sister and her slutty friend) but the rest of the story made them easy to overlook. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
I love romances where the girl comes from a poor background, improves on her own and then finds a man to love. The problem with those types of novels is that if not done correctly I have trouble liking the main heroine. Tattered, thank goodness did not go down that road. Thea Landry had a rough beginning, growing up an orphan in New York. She meets and has a one night stand with way out of her league, Logan Kendrick. They hit it off, do the deed, and they both move on. He, remembers their night together, and she can never forget. When he shows up in the bar she owns in Montana on a business trip, she finally gets to deliver some news. They have a child. The most important thing about this romance trope is that you LIKE the characters. Thankfully, I did! Thea was doing well, loved being a mother and had moved to a place that was good for she and her child. I liked Logan too! He was floored by the news, but he’d never forgot about Thea and took to being a dad pretty easily. I’m not sure why I didn’t like this book more than I did? The love story was pretty solid, and there was even an element of danger thrown in that made it almost a suspense novel. Actually that might have been the problem! Tattered teetered between a contemporary romance and a romantic suspense, but it didn’t go all in on either genre. So, I was left feeling pretty ambivalent. I’ll repeat. I did not hate this novel, but I didn’t love it either. It was ok. This was my first novel by this author and I’d heard great things, so I was a little disappointed. However, what is one reader’s perfect book is another reader’s so-so novel. I think you know on what end of the spectrum I fell on. I did really like the surrounding cast of characters Thea had to lean on. I believe the next book in the series features Jackson, her “brother” figure. He intrigued me, so I may give this author another shot at reeling me in.
I literary just devoured this one. As always, Devney´s writing melted my heart. This story ate me and left me breathless. It was so GOOD! Everything was just prefect. From the storyline, to characters, a little suspense, the way they struggled to finally get their happy ending. And Charlie – she is such an adorable kid. Everyone should read this story, you won`t regret it. It`s the kind of story you`ll want to read again and again and you`ll feel butterflies in your belly every time you finish it.
Tattered was another read by Perry that I enjoyed. I will say that it has some the same tendencies that annoyed me about the Jamison Valley series, but the big difference is that I really liked both of these characters.
The main character Logan may seem familiar to you and it may ring a bell as the boyfriend of Emmeline in The Clover Chapel. I really liked Logan. The man was so dedicated to Charlie and Thea despite how much he worked and did everything in his power to be there for both of them. I loved that he wanted to show Thea that they deserved to be together, to see what being what each other could be like. Not to mention the man was amazing with Charlie despite their shaky first moments together. It was clear he really loved that girl. I also liked Thea’s strength. She had a crappy hand dealt to her early in life, but she made something of herself, and she was so happy with the things she accomplished in life. She was a great mom to Charlie.
Logan and Thea were so great together. I loved how Logan really got to her. It was clear that she still wanted him and was so afraid of all the things Logan made her feel and possibly want. She made so many excuses as to why things with Logan wouldn’t work out. It was so frustrating that she was always looking for a way that things with Logan wouldn’t work out. She never relented no matter how amazing things were when they were together. I will say it took Logan a long time to get his head out of his ass and see that the city was not the place for Thea and Charlie, but damn if he wasn’t willing to risk everything for those two.
Tattered is sweet and emotional. Its a beautiful read that I really enjoyed. Another winner in my book by this author.
My only issue was the random as hell twist at the end that I thought wasn’t necessary at all to the story and something I forgot about through most of the story.
I enjoyed this book so much! The ups and downs, the way Thea feel things, and how her insecurities are very much relatable to me, are some of the things that fascinate me of this book. I also adore Logan and the way he deals with the surprising twist that comes crashing to his life. Can’t wait to read more from this series!
Tattered is the second book I’ve read from this author and to be honest I expected a little more. This book was a good read, don’t get me wrong. I just expected a little more chemistry between Thea and Logan. They had their sweet and steamy moments but I wanted more of a connection. I wanted more emotionally. I enjoyed the moments with Logan and Charlotte (Charlie) but again something was missing for me between father and daughter. This story had its sweet, steamy, funny and drama filled moments along with a stalker but it also had it’s slow moments. I wanted to strangle more than half of Logan’s family members and by the end of the story I still didn’t care for his mom, dad and one of his sisters. However, the ending was sweet and it is a story worth reading.
A beautiful story of love overcoming all obstacles. Devney Perry writes an emotionally captivating story of two people who come from different worlds and their journey of love and the outside forces that keep them apart.
I was completely consumed from beginning to end.
It takes a lot for me to give a book 5 stars. I hoard those suckers for the truly exceptional, can’t put down, don’t even want to write my books, stories. This one hit so close to my own -single mom story that it was an instant 5 but mostly because it was done so well. Thea is strong, courageous, brave but also tender. I LOVED her character. I loved Charlie and her process of accepting the new people in her life. Logan–*sigh** how did such a rich, entitled human grow up to be so freaking sweet? I loved him. Each character fights their own battle with learning the news about what happened five years prior. It truly feels impossible and kept me up into the ugly hours of the night because I had to know what was going to happen. Oh and surprise plot twist!! Love those-this book is funny, sweet, steamy, and surprising. Can’t wait to dive into Timid.
This was my second book by this author and I truly love her writing and the heartfelt stories. It definitely won’t be the last one I read from her. The story of Thea and Logan was a romantic, heartbreaking but loving story that you don’t want to miss. Can’t wait to read more in the Lark Cove series!
Thea and Logan had a one-night stand a couple of years ago and when they meet again in the town in Lark Cove, there’s something Thea will have to tell Logan that will turn his world upside down. Even though she’s tried for so long to find him and try to tell him about his daughter but it didn’t turn out that way. Now he’ll have to try and build a relationship with his little girl but it’s not easy when his life is in New York, a city Thea left behind so long ago. Although they haven’t seen each other in a while, there’s still feelings between them. Will they be able to find a way to find a solution?… And will feelings flare up again?…
OMG. PERFECT. JUST PERFECT
Not sure where I’ve been the last year, but I had NO clue this book was about Logan (and if you’ve read Emmeline’s book you know who I’m talking about). Not that these stories are interconnected at all, because they aren’t, but I’m glad he got his story.
Thea and Logan had a one-night stand, but it was definitely memorable for both of them. This book goes through Rich family, salty, privileged people, to those thankful to have the life they had. But what this author loves to do is throw in some suspense, too spice it up a little, so you definitely have that to look forward to.
I truly loved this book… The writing, the characters, the plot, the love, the tears… EVERYTHING. I have loved every single one of this authors books, and I’ve read them all. This is a 5*****star must read.
