What will it cost this bodyguard to save the woman he loves?“He was sent here to kill you, wasn’t he?” Glo’s voice emerged in a whisper of horror.Tate drew in a breath, and even Knox looked away as Tate nodded.Oh, she knew it. Apparently, she had a type. The kind of men who didn’t care what trouble—or death—might be waiting for them. Who turned their face to it and charged ahead. The kind of men … face to it and charged ahead.
The kind of men who died for what they believed in.
The kind of men who would break her heart.

Susan May Warren is the USA Today best-selling, Christy and RITA award-winning novelist of over 65 novels, including the best-selling Montana Rescue and Montana Fire series.
Bodyguard Tate Marshall, has always been the family troublemaker…
Maybe it’s his propensity to get entangled in other people’s problems. Now, he’s in over his head because he’s desperately in love with the woman he’s tasked to protect, the beautiful Gloria, “Glo” Jackson, daughter of US Senator and presidential hopeful Reba Jackson. A member of the country band, the Yankee Belles, Glo was targeted in a recent terrorist attack designed to deter her mother from running, and Tate will do anything to keep her safe. Even if it means letting her go.
Country music artist Glo Jackson isn’t afraid of trouble…
Stubborn and brave, Glo isn’t about to hide from threats, at least the kind that won’t cost her heart. She’s already paid a terrible price for the war on terror, and she refuses to fall for a man who might die, especially because of her. Better to keep him away, even if it means sacrificing her heart.
But when danger threatens them both, what will they sacrifice to keep each other safe?
As the presidential campaign heats up and the threats deepen, so does the attraction between Tate and Glo. But what will it cost Tate to keep her alive? And what will Glo do to keep from losing another man she loves?
The gripping second installment of the Montana Marshalls series.

What an interesting and heartfelt story. Devotion and sacrifice for others are major themes in this romance.
Loved this second installation of the Montana Marshalls. Tate was actually my favorite character even in Knox and I feel a bit bad about that. Still loved Knox but Tate was very interesting. That said, the action is pretty intense and it is unpredictable. Enter the elusive brother Ford… Can’t wait to read about this Marshall. And I love that she continues the story of the previous characters. I want to know what happens to them all. So, thank you for a very entertaining week. I would highly recommend this book
The second book in Susan May Warren’s Marshall series is Tate and it takes off where the first book in the series, Knox, left off. Tate and Glo were introduced and a lot of their story begins in Knox and continue in Tate with an introduction of Ford. So it’s best to read the series from book one to get the full impact. Tate is filled with action, suspense and of course romance, from beginning to end. Another must read by this author.
A great story
My rating is 4.5 stars
Strong, heroic men fighting to prove themselves. It is a common theme with author Susan May Warren, and yet each of her stories is fresh and unexpected.
Tate is the troublemaker of the family and has a less than admirable past. He has felt inferior to the other men in his family since he was a young boy because he doesn’t like horses and has no desire to be a cowboy. His protective streak is a mile wide and he is consumed with anxiety at the thought of having Gloria hurt on his watch. Again.
I mentioned above that Tate’s past is ugly. If you read Knox, you saw the hints of that already. I really liked that he had to reconcile himself with the fact he didn’t have to be a hero to be loved by God. Gloria’s lesson was similar. It is so easy to fall for the lie that it is up to us to be good enough. To live up to expectations of being perfect. That we have to EARN love. But that isn’t what love is about, is it?
I enjoyed the unpredictable nature of Tate’s story and the continued mystery regarding the threats to Gloria. I won’t say that I was surprised about the revelation yet I doubted my guess at least a few times along the way. The combination of intense action and deep heart matters made for a great escape from the crazy week I have had!

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Tate is the second book in the Marshall series by Susan May Warren. This is an absolutely AMAZING romantic suspense book (and series)!!! Ms. Warren does it again with a book that will make you want to stay up all night to finish reading it. I have read most of her books and love them all. I would not have thought that her books could get any better, but this series is becoming one of my favorites! I can not wait for the other three books to come out! This book focuses on Tate, one of the Marshall siblings. If you have read Knox (the first book in this series), you would have learned about Tate in that book (this can be read as a stand-alone novel if you haven’t read the first book). This book further expands on what is known in Knox. Tate begins by being a bodyguard for Glo who is a part of a singing group, The Yankee Belles, and daughter of a presidential candidate. Together they seem to have this connection, but there are so many obstacles that seem to be in their way. Tate also has issues that he needs to deal with from his past choices. Glo has her own fears as well. This must-read book allows the reader to see how God can help them deal with these issues and fears. This book has many twists and turns throughout and will leave you guessing what and who is behind everything. The next book in the series focuses on Ford and you will get to know his character better as well. I highly recommend you read this book and the first one in the series! You will not be disappointed! I am looking forward to reading about Ford next!
Tate was introduced in Warren’s first book in the Montana Marshalls’ series, Knox, and continues the story of Tate and Glo. The mystery introduced in book one keeps you in suspense and concludes satisfactorily. There’s plenty of romance and just the right amount of faith. It’s Christian fiction so you should expect to see references to God, Jesus, prayer, and faith, but I don’t ever think Warren is preachy. I enjoy the Christian element because you never have to worry about offensive language or sex scenes. Tate introduces the next book in the series, which will focus on Ford and his love interest, and hints at the story we’ll see later about Ruby Jane. It’s an enjoyable mix of romance and intrigue.
This is book two in the Montana Marshalls series. The book picks up right where the first book (Knox) left off. I highly recommend reading the books in order to get some of the backstory for the series. Each book introduces you to the characters in the next book and provides background for their relationship as a well as a cliffhanger to lead you in to their story. I don’t normally enjoy cliffhangers but these are more of a set up for the next book. The central story of each book is completed leaving only the underlying plot of the series to carry through.
I love how Susan May Warren dives right in to this book and the suspense doesn’t let up, right down to the last chapter. This book follows Tate Marshall and Glo Jackson. Tate is serving as Glo’s bodyguard while her mother, a senator, is on the campaign trail. Both Tate and Glo are struggling with past loss – Glo fears losing someone else she loves and Tate fears failing to protect those he cares for. Each must learn to turn to God if they’re to have a future together. Susan May Warren does an excellent job of delving into each character’s personality – following each as they grow and change throughout the book. We really get into the mind of each character and see what they are thinking and how they perceive the world around them.
I love how Susan May Warren develops family relationships. Each book in the series draws you further in to the Marshall family. Reading her books are like coming home and meeting familiar friends you haven’t seen in ages. We are introduced to Knox and Tate’s younger brother Ford in this book as well. I can’t wait to see how his relationship with Scarlett develops in book three.
This is a fast-paced book full of suspense, romance, political intrigue, and drama- you won’t want to put it down. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
This book is full of action and suspense. It is well written and holds your attention. The author makes the book come to life with her words. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
“” he was both dangerous and safe and exactly the man she’d waited for”
Wow! This novel is so full of tension and suspense that I had to stop and catch my breath – often. I loved Knox and now I think I love Tate and wait – I also love Ford. These Marshall men are the bomb – literally! Susan May Warren masterfully layers love and suspense. Her heroes always fall hard and that love becomes their driving force. Tate is superbly written and filled with heart touching moments. Not only is this book about Tate and Glo but it pulls you in to Ford and Scarlett’s story. I recommend it highly! Now I can’t wait for Ford’s story!
After falling for Knox, I was pretty excited about Tate, and it was really a great read!
Tate, the trouble-finder of the Marshall family, has a past scarred with regrets and mistakes.
Glo, the daughter of Presidential-hopeful Reba Jackson, has lived her life trying to make up for the fact that she was the daughter that lived.
Grief and guilt are common bonds between these two wounded characters, and neither one knows how to make the future work in their shattered worlds. But when a terrorist group targets Glo and her mother on the campaign trail, Tate will stop at nothing, even their growing feelings, to protect her.
This book was quite good, and once again, Susan May Warren crafted a story of broken people, impossible circumstances, and powerful love that was an absolute pleasure to read. With dynamic characters, a thrilling storyline, and hope-filled themes, Tate is a fantastic read, and Highly Recommended! <3
P.S. I will admit that Knox + Kelsey are still my favorites, but Tate + Glo are a certainly force to be reckoned with in this heart-rending adventure!
I received a copy of this book for FREE, and a positive review was not required.
What more good you want? A handsome bodyguard, rodeos, bull-riding, and a 3-women country band hoping for their first big gig. Add clashing personalities, secret pasts, a stalker, a terrorist, shootouts, and a determined mother bent on becoming the next US president.
Throw them all together in the chute and the wild, bucking ride of Tate Marshall in Susan May Warren’s second installment of the Montana Marshall’s series. From the first page to the last, I was drawn in and held captive. It took me just three days to read Knox, the first in the series, to reading Tate.
When things start blowing up and the bullets start flying, Tate Marshall is hired as the bodyguard for the Yankee Belles, a rising country band of three beautiful women. But it is Glo, short for Gloria, that captures Tate’s attention which is a good thing because it seems like she is the target.
With Glo’s mother making her bid to be selected to run for the next US president, everything points to someone trying to stop her campaign. As stubborn and determined as her mother, she isn’t going to allow anyone or anything stop the Yankee Belles from securing their biggest gig yet as the feature band for the rodeo tour.
Sparks fly and tension is high as the Yankee Belles continue their show schedule despite the terrorists continued attempts to blow it all up. The tension between Tate and Glo is perfectly written; when Tate “kissed-the-girl” I gave a deep sigh, finally. When their relationship is discovered, Tate is fired from bodyguard duty but he doesn’t allow it to stop him from protecting Glo, determined to keep her safe.
I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written ride and highly recommend it!

I’ll start out my review with a quick disclaimer: Warren’s books, while well-written, just aren’t my usual cup of tea. So take my review with a grain of salt. The Montana Marshalls series may totally be your “thing”, even if it’s not mine. 😉
Tate played a large role in the first book in the Montana Marshalls series, so I was curious about his book. It starts with a bang, and I wish that intensity had carried through the rest of the book, as there were parts I feel dragged considerably. Tate and Glo were interesting characters, although to be honest, the romance drove me bananas. Nearly the entirety of the book is Glo being a jerk, and Tate literally pining away after her. Cliches don’t usually bother me, but . . . Cliche much? Shall I also mention the *cough* quite passionate kissing scenes, despite Glo being a jerk, Tate being a jerk in return, and both characters constantly pushing each other away, convinced they shouldn’t be in a relationship. But let’s kiss anyway.
Oookay.
Again, I realize some readers may find this kind of romantic storyline enjoyable, I did not.
Overall, Tate kept my interest throughout the entirety and there were times I didn’t want to put it down. Definitely check this out if you’re a fan of prominent romantic storylines with bits of suspense mixed in here and there.
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from JustRead Tours for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
Tate is the second book in the Montana Marshall’s series, and he is the second brother! This is Tate and Glo’s story, a romance that will have you aggravated, and then enjoying their journey. And it’s a pretty rough journey at times because of the baggage they both bring into the relationship, as well as the struggles they will find themselves in. Which I think makes the story and the characters more realistic and believable. Struggles, this is real life.
With a Susan May Wareen book, I know I’m in for reading a deeply thought out and comprehensive story, with strong feelings and much tension. And a story that shows the Christian life within the characters of the book. As this story, Tate does. I love the Tate character, and they way he is willing to go out of his way y help others. And his relationship with Glo is really like so many real relationships are, I love that it is so realistic. There is so much more to say about this book, but I dont know where to start, and I sure dont want to ruin it for anyone, so I’ll stop. And I highly recommend this book to those looking for a sweet buy deeply written story.

After hearing such rave reviews for Knox (Book 1), I knew that I wanted to dig into this series. I really wish I had started at the beginning though, because I felt like I was missing significant backstory. Despite being thrown into a setting I had to get caught up on though, I was quickly sucked in. Tate was an easy character to fall in love with. He was studly and swoon-worthy. He was a fierce protector with little regard for himself. He had a sense of duty and didn’t let anything get in his way. I was expecting him to be a little more “rugged cowboy” and less “military professional,” but I still adored him as the hero. Overall I enjoyed the read and I’m looking forward to reading more from the series in the future.

What a great addition to The Montana Marshalls series! And I definitely recommend reading these books as a series. The main characters in this story, Tate and Glo, had their beginnings in book one, Knox. Now, readers really get to dig in to the heart of Glo and Tate’s feelings for each other, and all of the other drama and danger that comes along in the second story of the series.
That Glo! She was so emotionally mixed up in so many different ways. I have to say that all she put Tate through made me like his character even more than I already did. I really felt for the guy and the heartache he went through. But he was devoted!
The secondary story in this book revolves around Ford and introduces his love interest, Scarlett. I really enjoyed getting to know these two characters, as well. I am enjoying this series so much and highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, however, I have also pre-ordered my own print copy of this story, as well. All opinions are my own.
Wowza! What a thrilling read! I have been a fan of Susan May Warren’s books since I read Take a Chance on Me, the first book in the Christiansen Family series, and I have been hooked on her writing ever since! As soon as I heard about this series I instantly knew I wanted to read it, so needless to say when I was given the opportunity to sign up to review Tate I jumped at the chance.
After absolutely loving the first book in the series I had pretty high expectations for Tate and I am thrilled to say that this book exceeded every single one.
The suspense was amazing as usual and kept me glued to the page!
I absolutely loved Tate and Glo. They each carried deep scars from their pasts and my heart broke for all they had been through. I was cheering them on from the start! As much as I loved Glo and Tate, I think I actually loved the secondary characters of Ford and Scarlett a tiny bit more. I’m not really sure why because we don’t really have anything in common, but for some reason I found myself really relating to Scarlett and wishing she was real so I could reach out and ask if she wants to be friends! And, oh my, I am loving all these Marshall men, but I think Ford just may be my favorite Marshall brother so far, so I CANNOT WAIT for his story!
This book has everything I expect from one of Susan May Warren’s amazing novels, nail-biting suspense, swoon-worthy romance, well drawn characters that become like friends to the reader, humor, family, and last but most definitely not least a faith message that is deeply moving without being preachy! There is just something about Susan’s books that never fails to make me smile, and I always find myself hating to leave the pages of her fictional worlds, Tate was no exception! I loved every moment of this book and am dying to read book three, Ford!
Highly, HIGHLY recommended!
This is one series you aren’t going to want to miss, but I would recommend starting with Knox, as Tate starts right where Knox ends!
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Tate, the second installment in award-winning author Susan May Warren’s Montana Marshalls series, is a must-read for fans of action-packed contemporary romance. Readers have been eagerly anticipating the release of this novel after falling in love with former Ranger turned bodyguard Tate Marshall in the first book of the series. Tate is willing to do anything to protect those he loves, and trouble always has a way of finding him. The cover of Tate depicts his character perfectly and will have readers discovering their new favorite book boyfriend. The Montana Marshalls series has the perfect blend of romance, adventure, and of course, those handsome Marshall family cowboys!
It is highly recommended that the Montana Marshalls series be read in order, since there is an overall story arc that follows throughout the entire series. The novel Tate continues part of the storyline from the first book in the series Knox, as Tate works as a bodyguard for Glo Jackson and her band, the Yankee Belles, after a bombing following one of their performances. Additional violence and threats continue to put their lives in danger. Glo’s mother Senator Reba Jackson is a potential presidential candidate and continued threats against her campaign have also targeted Glo. Navy SEAL Ford Marshall plays an increased role in this novel, as he assists his brother Tate in trying to find the bomber.
Susan May Warren is a master at writing incredible family-centered novels that draw readers closer to their faith. She shares the spiritual message that we are enough because He decided we are. Readers will enjoy the banter between Glo and Tate and the realistic dialogue throughout the novel. The pain that bodyguard Tate feels while protecting Glo as she goes on dates with another man is heart-wrenching as readers hope for Tate to get his happy ending with the woman he loves. There is a cliffhanger at the end of the book that leaves readers anxiously awaiting the next book in the series, Ford, which releases in September.
Tate is highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance with a blend of adventure, and readers who enjoy novels by authors such as Becky Wade and Denise Hunter.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine. After reading the e-book copy, I enjoyed Tate so much that I also pre-ordered my own paperback copy.
I have read Knox (book 1 in this new series) so I was really excited to read Tate, another son in the Marshall family. Tate and Glo were great characters and were introduced in the first book. Although this is a series, the books can be read as stand alone books. I prefer to read them in order for character development.
This story mostly focuses on Tate and Glo but also introduces Ford who will be book 3 in the fall. Also mentioned was their sister Ruby Jane who will have her own book. I loved that this story also included Kelsey and Knox from book 1, their parents and their family ranch.
Wonderful characters, great dramatic story line with clean romance. I read this story in one sitting because I couldn’t out it down-I absolutely LOVED it!! Highly recommend this book and this series. I can’t wait to read more Montanta Marshalls!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Tate by Susan May Warren continues the Marshall family saga. With this second story, readers are thrown into the world of Tate and his continuing romance with Glo. Readers are introduced to Ford, who is the hero in the third book, and his love interest Scarlett. While the plot continues to carry on the Marshall legacy, the action moves at a fast pace, consuming the action as each character falls in love and does anything to stay alive and together. The romance between Tate and Glo and Ford and Scarlett fight for attention in the story. While the title is Tate, Ford shares the same amount of space in the story. The romance isn’t really that sappy but shows what love should do for an individual. A person should give a hundred percent, and so should the other person. The writing is top-notch. Warren definitely knows how to tell a story and convince the reader they are there experiencing the action with the characters. I enjoy how she keeps creating family sagas and inviting characters from previous series to appear in the later ones. It is nice to catch up with characters readers have come to know and love. I anxiously await Ford and the rest of the Marshalls’ stories.
I received a complimentary copy of Tate by Susan May Warren from Stonewater Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Tate is book 2 in Susan May Warren’s Montana Marshalls series. Each book features a member of the Marshall family and brother Tate who played a strong supporting role in book 1, Knox finds himself the hero here. Still acting as Gloria Jackson’s bodyguard with restrictions, Tate is determined to keep her safe from the group who will do anything to keep her mother from running for President. But who are they and could everyone be mistaken about who is responsible for the attacks?
I’m two books in and it is already obvious that this is one series that readers will want to read every book in order. Other family members play strong roles in both books and I felt that I was getting some hints about what is to come in later installments. It has also become apparent that each of the siblings has mistakenly believed themselves inferior to at least one of the others for some reason and have made life choices in an attempt to prove themselves worthy. If only they could find their worth in God’s eyes! I think that is the message the author is trying so hard to get across in the story and to her readers.
As in most of Warren’s books, Tate is a balanced blend of action, danger, mystery, suspense, faith, and romance. Characters grow during the course of the story and do not remain stagnant. At times I found myself frustrated with both Tate and Glo as their relationship experienced many ups and downs, some of which seemed so unnecessary. It was fun meeting more of the Marshall family and I look forward to getting to know them better in their own book. My expectations were thoroughly satisfied and I recommend Tate to all fans of Susan May Warren and to any reader who enjoys action-packed, suspense-filled contemporary romance with bigger than life heroes.
