What will it cost this bodyguard to save the woman he loves?“He was sent here to kill you, wasn’t he?” Glo’s voice emerged in a whisper of horror.Tate drew in a breath, and even Knox looked away as Tate nodded.Oh, she knew it. Apparently, she had a type. The kind of men who didn’t care what trouble—or death—might be waiting for them. Who turned their face to it and charged ahead. The kind of men … face to it and charged ahead.
The kind of men who died for what they believed in.
The kind of men who would break her heart.

Bodyguard Tate Marshall, has always been the family troublemaker…
Maybe it’s his propensity to get entangled in other people’s problems. Now, he’s in over his head because he’s desperately in love with the woman he’s tasked to protect, the beautiful Gloria, “Glo” Jackson, daughter of US Senator and presidential hopeful Reba Jackson. A member of the country band, the Yankee Belles, Glo was targeted in a recent terrorist attack designed to deter her mother from running, and Tate will do anything to keep her safe. Even if it means letting her go.
Country music artist Glo Jackson isn’t afraid of trouble…
Stubborn and brave, Glo isn’t about to hide from threats, at least the kind that won’t cost her heart. She’s already paid a terrible price for the war on terror, and she refuses to fall for a man who might die, especially because of her. Better to keep him away, even if it means sacrificing her heart.
But when danger threatens them both, what will they sacrifice to keep each other safe?
As the presidential campaign heats up and the threats deepen, so does the attraction between Tate and Glo. But what will it cost Tate to keep her alive? And what will Glo do to keep from losing another man she loves?
The gripping second installment of the Montana Marshalls series.

‘Surrender is not a Ranger word. Fine. Let the battle begin.’
Susan May Warren continues her Montana Marshalls series with the second brother, Tate. Tate has always found trouble easily, but he has also always tried his best to solve problems. The woman he’s tasked with protecting, Gloria Jackson, also the woman he’s in love with, and daughter of a senator is targeted. Glo is a member of a country band, the Yankee Belles, and in the public eye, which makes her a bigger target.
Glo doesn’t want to hide from these threats and Tate is determined to keep her safe. She’s also trying to run from Tate because she’s already lost someone she loves to danger, so no way is someone else going to die because of her.
We also meet another Marshall brother in this book, Ford, and I am on pins and needles waiting for his story, which is next.
Will Tate stop a minute and listen or will he plunge right in and do what he thinks is best, even if may not be? He needs to learn that he is loved just because he’s Tate and not because of what he does. And Glo needs to learn that she’s also worth loving just because of who she is also.
I am a forever fan of Warren’s books and can’t wait to get my hands on them. She dives into the story with no holds barred and takes her readers along for the ride and we can’t release our breaths till the end. She knows how to make the reader one with the character and we feel everything. I love it when an author engages me this way. I purely love it. And the spiritual depth to her novels is amazing. Highly recommended.

This is the second book in the series. I would recommend you read the first book in the series, Knox, before you read this. Tate would fill in some blanks but not all of them. Also, Knox is a great book too.
Tate has trouble accepting himself as he is. He is always comparing himself to Knox and finds himself coming up short. Glo is pulled in two different directions. Her mother thinks her singing career is just a faze and she’ll get through it. She insists Glo come help her with her presidential campaign. Glo has to figure out who she really wants to be. This is all happening while she’s caught in an explosion, gets shot, and gets caught in a mafia brawl. All the while Tate will do anything to save her life. He would even die for her. That is the last thing she wants to happen. You need to read the book to find out all that happens. It’s a great book.
We are also introduced to Ford Marshall. He’s a Navy SEAL. We are told part of his story to take us into the next book in the series, Ford. Can’t wait to read it.
I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
INTENSE!!
TATE (Montana Marshalls Book 2) by Susan May Warren can best be described in one word – INTENSE! It’s almost if you look up the word “intense” in the dictionary, you would discover Tate’s photo next to it alongside a copy of this book! Tate’s INTENSE about: 1) his loyalty to his family (even though he never feels he measures up to their standards), 2) his loyalty to his friends, 3) his responsibilities as a bodyguard (especially when it comes to protecting Glo, superstar singer & daughter of a Senator/Presidential hopeful), 4) never losing focus while on a mission (whether it’s a bodyguard mission or a Ranger mission) and 5) solving the mystery around who is trying to kill the woman who has stolen his heart. Warren has written an INTENSE plot from the first page to the last! She has written the perfect story to totally display Tate’s complete character. She also manages to add a supporting cast that makes this a dynamic read. Be Warned: You will want to read it in one sitting! Tate’s intensity comes from not believing he is worthy of the love others because he doesn’t measure up. That’s why my Favorite Quote from TATE is: “When you show up with nothing and discover that you’re loved because of who you are—that’s when you realize what it means to be a son of God… It’s pretty breathtaking…”
I was provided an ARC of this book by the author and SDG Publishing. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
Another win for Ms.Warren. Tate is such a tortured hero. It is ingrained in him to do the right thing even at his expense. His struggles is so real. The things he experienced as a Ranger shaped some of his current struggles. It does take a special someone to understand and fight for him. Both the hero and heroine have issues that they need to work on th have the relationship they desire.
I received this book from the publisher and the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Holy moly! If you thought Knox was on fire get ready cause Tate blazes a trail all his own. This is one heck of a ride that you’re not gonna want to get off of til the end.
Not only do you get to see Tate and Glo struggle through past fears to get what they want but you also meet handsome Ford Marshall and the stubborn beautiful Scarlett Hathaway.
This is a must read for any Susan May Warren fan along with anyone who just wants a clean, awesome book. This story will leave you in anticipation of the next one to see just what happens to our beloved Marshall family and their growing families
Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit into your family? Everyone has a purpose. I’ve felt that way before. I was the only blonde-haired, blue-eyed, left-handed one in the family. It was nothing I did which made me feel this way, it was just how I was made. However, as the years went by, I was shown by my family how they really did love me, and I was introduced to the One who loves me the most.
If you’ve ever felt this way too, then you’ll understand what Susan May Warren’s characters in this story go through.
There are a couple of characters who fight with the feelings of low self-worth and struggle with knowing their purpose. Sometimes through family dynamics, sometimes because of events in their past.
This book has touched my soul deeply. I have found, anytime I pick up a book written by Susan May Warren I will get many life lessons. She has a beautiful way of speaking truth to our souls through her words.
An example of this is a quote from the book spoken by the oldest brother to Tate the main character:
“When you show up with nothing and discover that you’re loved because of who you are – that’s when you realize what it means to be a son of God. That’s when you discover that you’ve inherited more than you could possibly imagine. It’s pretty breathtaking . . . Sort of like free-falling, knowing that your chute is going to catch you.”
We can all have this feeling if we give our lives to God.
Susan May Warren’s stories are full of action, drama, a bit of suspense, and of course, romance. I am totally enjoying getting to know this whole Marshall family. I wish I could meet this very larger than life family from Montana. I think I’d love to have them as friends.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I’m at a loss to have words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warrens’ books.
Whatever Ms. Warren writes I’ll read because I know I’ll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life changing.
I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review, all opinions are my own.
Tate belongs on your summer reading list. It was a long wait since Knox (book #1) but worth the time. Susan May Warren crafts such realistic dialogue that she can bring you to tears, a cringe or two and several laugh out loud moments. You’ve been warned if you read in public!
With another action-packed drama packed with a family of alpha males and their struggles, intense situations and poignant reminders of God’s love for us. Have some tissues ready beside your glass of iced tea and enjoy the air-conditioned respite this season.
I received a copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
Susan May Warren’s second installment of “The Montana Marshalls” series is another winner. In “Tate” she digs deep into the feeling of not quite measuring up. So many times we think we need to perform to perfection in order to be accepted for who we are. Tate is no exception. Unable to see the truth in the affection of his family and the love of God, he strives to be the best, never quite arriving in his own eyes.
In her own way Glo struggles with insecurities and doubts, comparing herself to the sister she lost and feeling like she can never measure up to the standard she thinks her mother expects.
The suspense amps up as Tate and Glo butt heads over his hero complex and her fear. Will they continue down the road of doubt, or with God’s help will they find their way to redemption?
We get an introduction to Ford and Scarlett in this book and by the end there is another mystery evolving. Fast paced and full of danger, sparks fly as the couples navigate their relationships.
There are a couple places in the book where I got lost as it switched from one person to the next between chapters.
I loved this book and highly recommend it.
