I never meant to fall for another bad boy… let alone two.My name is Jess. I don’t know what I am, with my random magical outbursts, but I do know that getting tangled up with deliciously deadly vampire brothers is going to get me in trouble. There’s Zac — brooding and mesmerizing. Tormented by an ancient legacy he refuses to fulfill. Fighting the darkness within, balancing on the line between … within, balancing on the line between light and dark, living in the grey of morality. Drawn to my blood with ravenous need thanks to a fated sanguine bond.
Then there’s Alex —disarmingly playful, evil wrapped up in a pretty package. Zero boundaries. Takes what he wants, when he wants. Crawling under my skin like an unwelcome itch that I need to scratch.
Never one to shy from adventure, I find myself right in the middle of their century-long feud. Zac’s touch feels like the very thing I’ve spent my life chasing. But if he’s so right for me, what is this haunting desire that burns inside for Alex?
With everyone against us, from the ruthless vampire government, vampire hunters, and even our own friends — will I even come out of this alive? Just how far will my insatiable appetite for all things dark and dangerous take me?

This is the first in a vampire trilogy and is a paranormal thriller/romance. The characters are interesting and full of personality. The love triangle between the troubled girl and two very different vampire brothers is well executed. The storyline is full of drama, twists and turns and surprises. The implications of the story beyond the love triangle is intriguing. The writing is good and overall the book is interesting despite being slow at times. This book peeks the reader’s interest and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Taste the Dark is the first book in the Elwood Legacy series and this was just such a great way to start off a new series. I just didn’t want it to end. I just fell in love with these characters and getting to go along on their journey. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, and I hope it won’t be my last.
Holy shiznet!!! This story grabbed me from the first page and held me within its grasp until the end. Jess is one messed up woman. But I like her. She’s a snarky adrenaline junky. Zac & Alex are hot, sexy vampires. This is a rollercoaster ride. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Taste the Dark by Nicola Rose is an amazing story that I have loved reading very much. This is book number one in this amazing start to a new series and a brand nw author for me to read. I enjoyed this book. It was well written. The characters of Jessica and Zac were written really well. Their relationship reminds me a bit of like twilight. Alex aggravated me alot.

I did like the story, but it did seem to drag on a lot longer than I thought necessary. Yes, everything did have it’s place, but it was a long story. This story also has a bit of darkness in it too. Drinking, drugs, sleeping around, angst galore, and cheating (or at least it looked like cheating), you go through a lot of emotions. The characters are well written and the story line was good. The end was fast pace and exciting.
Jess has moved to be near her friends Anna and Danny. Jess needs to get her life together. If there is a right way of doing things and a wrong way, she goes for the wrong way. She goes for the Bad Boys, until it hurts. The last one got her on drugs and drinking and threatened to kill her. So she left and is getting a job as a fireman with Danny. Of course this is the Spring Break island in Texas and it is spring break time, so it is party time. And of course Jess has to attract two of the worst bad boys on the island. Oh, and they are twins.
Zac is the ‘good’ twin. As a vampire, he keeps everything on the down low. He only feeds on murderers and so do everyone in his Cell. Of course with being the good version of a vampire, he is also quite moody He fights the darkness inside even when he lives on the good side. He sees Jess and he can’t take his eyes off her. He keeps his eyes on her all the time, no matter where she is or what she is doing. If she approaches him, he disappears. She is the human that he is drawn to so he fights it.
Alex is Zac’s twin, but they have different eyes. And of course Alex has a happy and cheerful disposition. He lives life to the fullest that a vampire can do. He has parties all the time with drugs, drinking and clothing optional. Yes, he has more clean up than every, blood is hard to get out of carpets. He is also drawn to Jess but not like Zac. Alex is jealous that Zac was gifted with a Legacy that he felt should have come to him since he is stronger. He keeps messing with Jess, getting into her head and such. Anything to bother his twin. If he looses control, it will activate the Legacy and Alex will also get gifted with strength.
It keeps going back and forth with Jess and Zac because Jess is a nympho and Zac won’t get intimate. He is afraid that if they do, he will kill her. He is addicted to her blood, even though he hasn’t had any yet. They fight every day but they can’t seem to stay away from each other. This is the thing that I couldn’t understand. Either be together or don’t, don’t drag it out and hurt each other along the way. Oh well.
The story does get fast paced at the end, and it doesn’t quite leave you with a cliffhanger, but I am sure we want to know what goes on with their relationships from here.

Wow what a well written book this is. I enjoyed how well developed the characters are and all the twists made for a great storyline that flowed smoothly page to page. I was hooked.

I tasted the dark and I need more!
Hot vampire twin brothers, action, lust, blood, romance, a well thought out story that pulls you in and grips you from page one. What’s not to love?
I’m kicking myself that it took me so long to get to this book. Taste the Dark has been sitting in my TBR pile for ages. If it’s in yours, bump it straight to the top. If it’s not already on your list, get it on there. Make this your next read!
If anyone needs me I’ll be buried in book two…
This is the first book I have read by Nicola Rose and I must say I am quite impressed. I love the dynamic that she has created – lots of love, angst, frustration and so much more. Jess has shit in her passed that has really messed her up in many ways and she has become a hard and fast party girl into one-night stands, but she also has a certain vulnerability which makes her likable. Running from her past she starts a new life in an area where she has a couple of friends bla bla bla – you know the drill. Then she meets Mr tall dark and moody (Zac) who also happens to be a vampire and is at odds and bt this I mean really hates and is kinda at war with his twin brother Mr Psycho ( Alex). Jess is Drawn to danger and falls for Zac but in a weird way also likes Alex. Throw a human into a Vampire world and all sorts of dangers come out of the woodwork so there is a lot of Action. Plenty of sex but be warned some of it could be classed as abuse so if this is a trigger for your please don’t read. This a really well written storey that draws you in so that you are completely immersed in their world. Dark in places but not dark for the sake of being dark – it works where it is used. Brilliant concept and I loved the danger and suspense.
Do you know those naughty, guilty little pleasures we all indulge in once in a while? Imagine a slice of flourless chocolate cake and a glass of red, deep in the night… the luscious writing in this novel is akin to a bite of the most decadent chocolate dessert you can imagine. Nicola Rose is fast becoming one of my go-to authors when I’m craving a bit of dark, a bit of danger, a bit of the forbidden. Her writing is sensual and alluring, the characters entrancing, and the story, well, you don’t want to put it down before you know what’s happening next! Finished this one and am about to plunge into the next Elwood novel straight away, but once I’m through with them, I’ll be aching for more. And Zac. I mean, ZAC! Grab a copy of this, a slice of chocolate cake and a nice glass of red and you’re set. Unless you don’t like chocolate, but that’s ok, insert the naughty deliciousness you prefer and get reading.
Taste the Dark is the first book I have read by Nicola Rose. It is also the first book in the Elwood Legacy series and I really enjoyed it. It’s a dark paranormal romance that includes somewhat of a love triangle. It’s the classic girl falls for the good vampire, well not as evil vampire, while his more sinister brother seethes with jealousy. Oh, and said girl is ridiculously attracted to the dark and evil brother. It’s a common theme in Vampire romances but I honestly never get bored of it.
Jess has just moved to a little island where spring breakers flock too every spring. Other than that, it’s usually pretty dead. There she soon realizes she is being watched by the mysterious Zac Elwood. Zac is beautiful (picture Jensen Ackles of Supernatural) and untouchable. He only seems to have eyes for Jess. At first, Jess seems somewhat creeped out by Zac constantly showing up everywhere she is and hiding in the shadows as he watches her. But, her uneasy feelings are short lived and she takes a deep interest in Zac. Jess works as a firefighter and quickly realizes something is off with the island and it all has to do with the Elwood brothers. She digs deeper and deeper trying to figure out why there is so much hostility between Zac and his incredibly gorgeous, asshole brother Alex (picture Ian Somerhalder of The Vampire Diaries) but as she digs she not only uncovers some of their dark secrets, but, some of her own as well.
Guys, this formula just works. Not to mention, the sexual tension between Zac and Jess and Jess and Alex is so damn spicy. Anytime there is a love triangle that involves an asshole type like Alex that won’t play by the rules, I’m ALL for it! It makes for the most enticing drama.
4 out of 5 stars
Two sexy, dangerous vampires and one beautiful, sassy girl makes for one-hell-of-a time. This book is full of suspense, action, lust and danger. Nicola Rose did an excellent job bringing these characters to life and I can’t wait to experience more of them.
“Because their breath slows, their heartbeat fades, their blood stills…but the hunger never ends.”
This Author just blows me away…this is a long one folks, but it is so completely worth it! Poetically written, haunting and dark, swiftly moving through the story, I couldn’t put it down!! I was hypnotized and drawn in from the very beginning and it held me in its clutches until the very end. Perfect mix of danger, hotness, and groundwork laid for what will be a must read PNR series!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!
