My third read from author Sandi Scott and the second in The Seagrass Sweet Mystery Series. I’d received an ARC of Murder in the Art Gallery and enjoyed it so much I had to read another by the author and Cream Puff Murder the first in The Seagrass Sweet Mystery Series was even more pleasing to read that I read a third! An entertaining novelette that I greatly enjoyed reading. The problem with short works is just that, they’re short. The author does a wonderful job in character & plot development that makes you want to come back for seconds, then thirds. I’ll definitely read more from this author! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
This was a good story and I like the characters. If you like nice clean cozies.
A “Cozy” Hole in One! You can’t go wrong with murder, suspense, and some good food! This was a fun cozy mystery read. The characters are likable and the plot has some good twists. Ashley and Ryan make for a good sleuthing duo as they follow clues to solve the golf course murder and prove the innocence of Uncle Charlie. It’s an entertaining short read and I look forward to reading more in the Seagrass Sweet Mystery Series. I especially love the recipes included in these books!
Ashley is at a charity function she is catering when Ryan’s Uncle Charley returns to the club house totally smashed. Ashley calls Ryan to come and drive him home. Ryan tells her the parking lot is full of cop cars then they learn there’s been a murder and the police think its Charley. A good plot with lots of suspects that keeps you guessing until the end.
I think I need to move to Seagrass so I can sample Ashley and Patty’s culinary offerings! Ryan, Dizzy and Ashley are detecting again. I love these characters. There are way too many suspects when everyone hated the murder victim. I enjoyed Ashley’s hunt for the killer.
Received free for review. I liked it, but didn’t love it. The subplots took away from the story.
Some how I miss placed this book and have read this fun series out of order. Oh well it didn’t make a difference and was kind of fun to get the back story on Ashley and Ryan. I have really enjoyed this series. Sandi Scott does a great job of showing the romantic growth between Ashley and Ryan.

Fun Cozy Mystery
This is another installment in a really fun and different cozy mystery series with no cliffhangers. It is best read in order as each book builds on the events of the prior books. They could stand alone, but the reader will enjoy the backstory. As always, the plot is great, the characters are fun. The emotions and reactions are realistic. And, there is plenty of humor throughout. Do not read while hungry!
Really enjoyed it
“Tarte Tatin Murder” earns 5/5 Slices of Tarte Tatin and a Cafe Au Lait!
Ashley’s catering business is dong well along with her rekindled relationship with Ryan Brady. Her newest gig, providing a delightful array of French desserts including bite-size Tarte Tatin, is for the Seagrass Country Club Charity Golf Tournament raising funds for CURE, a cancer research foundation. While Ashley is setting up her dessert display, she meets Ryan’s Uncle Charlie. And despite Ryan’s warning to “Beware crazy Uncle Charlie,” she thinks he’s a fun guy in whom Ryan has confided, and she wants to know what Ryan has been saying about her and their new relationship. But, when he comes back from his round of golf drunk spewing threats against his irritating golf partner, the police have no choice but to arrest him. No, not for public drunkenness, but for murder. The head researcher for CURE has been found dead…blunt force trauma, and Charlie is the prime suspect. And even though the sheriff was willing to share details in respect of Ashley’s helpfulness on the last murder investigation, he is sure they have their man and there’s nothing to investigate. Well, Ashley would argue with that…of course.
I am a big fan of Sandi Scott’s Seagrass Sweets Cozy Mystery, and again I was greatly entertained: Self-proclaimed gift to women? Ethics in question? A drug trial? Again, Sandi weaves in several different motives for the crime: contemporary, realistic, and engaging including a few dead ends and an excellent “Wow!” solution. The ‘just for this story’ characters (co-researchers, family, and Uncle Charlie) are well developed and entertaining, and I continue to enjoy Ashley as the strong and clever woman still working on her vulnerabilities and confidence with her relationship with Ryan. Oh, BFF Patty is still here and so is Dizzy to round out the fun. Seagrass, Texas, nuances and its residents, ins and outs of the catering business, mouthwatering descriptions of Ashley’s delights, and the ongoing love interests play out in the background. And with apple season in Northern California soon in full bloom…a marvelous, easy to follow recipe for Apple Tarte Tatin is included…
Ashley Adams is back along with our favor supporting characters Ryan, Patty, and Ashley’s sweet pup Dizzy to solve another murder. Ashley is catering a charity golf event where the proceeds are going to a nonprofit that is working on a cure for cancer. At this event Ashley met Ryan’s beloved if not trouble Uncle Charlie. When the high profile researcher and Charlie’s golf partner Dr. Green is found dead on the golf course, Charlie becomes suspect number 1. Although Ashley is worried Patty does not approve of Ashley’s sleuthing, she can not say no when Ryan as for help in clearing Uncle Charlie.
Author Sandi Scott did a wonderful job with her storytelling with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing who did it until the end. I love how she keeps Ashley relatable with Ashley’s doubts and concerns in relationships with best friend Patty and possible love interest Ryan. The only problem I had with reading this book is not being familiar with the names of some French pastries and dishes, I would have to look them up to see what kind of dish they were. This is a fun read and I would recommend it to fans of cozy mysteries, female sleuths, and food related mysteries.
