Avery Aarons believes it’s fate that she will die by the hand of a criminal. As a child, she hid in a cupboard while men ransacked their home. In college, she met with an attacker walking home on campus. After that, going into law enforcement is her only path to protect herself and others who can’t. She’s never felt so empowered, until she ends up in the wrong place without backup. When Jess Monet … Jess Monet attends a CPR refresher course and runs into the sexy brown-eyed officer his special ops team helped out, he’s just as impressed this time around. He must admit, Avery’s got some pretty damn good moves on the CPR dummy too, though Jess has had his fill of rejection lately and is reluctant to pursue more than a friendship with the tough, beautiful woman. He also knows she’s completely right for him.
While on a short hiatus from her job due to an investigation, Avery has no idea what to do with her time. Spending it with the hunky special ops man is driving her to distraction, though, and she wishes he’d just make a move. Preferably one that lands them both naked in bed. Too soon fate comes after her again, and this time she’s sure it’s the end for her. But Jess isn’t about to let anything happen to the woman he’s growing too fond of to deny… the only woman who can rescue him right back.

I think this is my new favorite in the series. It is great as a standalone, but I think it will tempt you to read the previous books in the series.
Jess and Avery were a great team. They were both strong, intelligent, and sexy. I really liked that they were so supportive of each other in both their personal lives and their careers. They were also friends before they moved their relationship to the next level.
Target In Range also had its fair share of action and suspense, steamy scenes, and emotion. The camaraderie, trust, friendship, and loyalty amongst Ranger Ops was also completely interwoven throughout the book. This book gave the reader a taste of almost everything. I am so looking forward to the next book in the series. I would love to see if Em Petrova can top this one. Lol!

I love these stories. They just grab me and I ride along to the end. Full of excitement, danger and a lot of loving on the side. They live a fast and dangerous life and will not regret it one bit. The case Jess is working on have hit a cord in him and he is having a time with it. But he will survive and live for another day. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Book five in the series brings Jess and Avery’s story. The characters are strong and well developed and the author moves the story fluidly. She brings tons of action, suspense and a sizzling hot chemistry and brings the story to life with her vividly painted scenes.I was glued to the pages with the intriguing story line. I loved this book and would highly recommend reading.

I was so pleasantly surprised with Target in Range. Page after page I was consumed with this book. Em Petrova has captivated me with this book. Action, love, and so much more.
An Outstanding Suspense Romance .
I really enjoyed reading Target In Range . This is book five in The Ranger Ops series . I was captivated from the start . Avery Aarons is a police officer and on suspension pending on the review board . During a CPR refresher course she meets sexy Jess Monet . They both find themselves attracted to one another .
Jess is hesitant due to his past failed relationships and his job and tries to keep it in the friend zone . Soon neither can fight the intense attraction . Jess is part of the Ranger Ops team they take out threats to Homeland security . Soon danger is on home territory and all are in danger . This story is action packed , suspenseful , interesting and intriguing of course sexy and steamy and so much more . I highly recommend taking the time to read this story .
I loved the focus on local law enforcement in this story!
Avery is a tough, wickedly assertive young woman who responds to the threats in her past by becoming a force to be reckoned with. But one questionable shooting has her sidelined and wondering if she’ll be able to come back to the job she loves.
Jess is truly the sweetheart of the Ranger Ops crew, a gentle warrior who wears his heart on his sleeve and can’t understand why none of the women he dates consider him worth sticking around for. Because of this, he’s especially careful with his blossoming romance with Avery. This was a nice role-reversal, a new spin that showed us the depth of his compassionate nature.
Their romance is complicated by the mission that Jess is immersed in, tracking down a traitor who is selling secrets and orchestrating terrorist attacks in Mexico and the US. The story has a very dramatic, action-fueled conclusion that allowed for both Avery and Jess to really shine. Their HEA was pure perfection. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Another Ranger Ops mission and this one focus on Jess and his talent he brings to the team. Just enough action to keep you turning pages. In steps Avery with her own set of issues and more action. A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. All Ranger Ops stories are standalone reads but you get pulled in by the team.
Jess has never found love, he gives his heart but the girl always seems to leave. He is so over that so the next time his heart wants more his brain will need to shut it down. Avery had had trauma in her life, so becoming a cop was logical and logic is what she depends on, until she is forced on leave and her body needs more than a workout to relieve the tension. Googly eye over a CPR dummy and both just might find more than friendship. The characters have depth and alot of personality, you can feel their pain from past experiences as well as what they are dealing with now. The relationship grows over time, although both feel that instant spark and attraction, they are gun shy to be hurt more. I really liked Jess’ story.

“Target in Range” (Ranger Ops Book 5) by Em Petrova is a terrific read. I loved Jess and Avery’s story. This is another amazing addition to this series, packed with romance, passion, action, law enforcement, entertaining characters, and more. I can’t wait to see what happens next with the Ranger Ops crew. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, action, law enforcement, and series.
This story covers lots of shadows… And all different kinds of shadows (some good, some bad) But when each shadow is compared with the light, it can be seen how distorted the shadow could be.

Target In Range is a fantastic book that kept me on the edge of my seat with the most awesome strong but sweet smoking sexy hot characters! Avery and Jess can’t seem to get enough of each other in this intriguing page turner loaded with uncertainty, emotional suspense, fear, danger and very exciting action packed suspense! It’s definitely a fast paced intense sizzling hot romance with lots of delicious panty melting sex and a fantastic HEA! I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone! I absolutely loved it!
It is impossible not to connect with Avery, the main female character in this book! Her past, her present, and her courage make her truly amazing, and that’s clearly how Jess feels too. As always, Em Petrova has written characters that, while not perfect people, are perfect for each other, and the story combines intrigue, heat, and a great deal of tension. You know, when you open a Ranger Ops book, that you’re getting great suspense, and this book doesn’t disappoint. Jess’s building relationship with his daughter is definitely one of my favorite elements in the book, as is Avery’s understanding and encouragement of it. I could have carried on reading about these characters for days.

Jess works with a secret special ops group out of Austin whi meets a tough as nails street cop out on lweave while in a CPR class. He has had relationships fall apart when he showed his caring side. Eventually they grow closer and begin to lean on each other. Slowly they both learn to Express their feelings for each other. HEA with edge of your seat excitement and action throughout.

Ranger Ops team member Jess Monet wants love in his life. He’s lonely and becoming a bit depressed as his fellow Ranger Ops teammates fall like dominoes in the world of love. While he is happy for his buddies, he can’t help wondering what it will take to meet the woman of his dreams and settle down. Sure he meets plenty of women. He has no problem scoring, dating and committing. The women he has dated, however, have failed to stick around once he professes his interest. Then he meets Avery Aarons at a CPR recertification class. A police officer and total hottie, he immediately wants to get to know her better. But how to go about doing so without scaring her off like all of the other women he has dated?
I have to say, I have a MAJOR crush on Jess! What a blend of super hot qualities: an Alpha who protects what is his but who is sensitive and vulnerable when it comes to women. It is SO refreshing to read about a guy that is physically strong, handsome, commanding in bed, intelligent, and compassionate— yet internally questions what it takes to land the woman of his dreams. He’s been hurt in the past and is vulnerable. Rather than get hurt again, he tries to put Avery safely in the “friend zone”. What he didn’t expect is for Avery to resist. That is one zone she has no desire to be placed in. Can Avery successfully chip away at Jess’ resolve? Can her will for Jess battering ram its way through the thick walls around his heart.
This was a book that I devoured in one sitting. Engaging and likable characters, passionate and sizzling chemistry, and a fast paced plot make this book a definite “must read”! Every book in the Ranger Ops Series is a standalone novel but I highly recommend reading the series in its entirety and in the order in which they were published. I’m already looking forward to reading Cav’s book. I’m completely hooked on this series!!!

Whew! Just finished reading this book and Em knows just how to get a story revved up. Although the books of this series are stand-alones , they often bring in other characters from previous stories. This one mentions the other characters very few times so reading the other books is not necessary but will give you a broader understanding of this group. Now we have a cop on administrative leave and a special ops guy. They actually mesh pretty well and are more familiar with each other’s job demands. The tension builds up til you have a knot in your stomach until it resolves. Not an overly long read and will keep your interest from the first page.

This is book five in the Ranger Ops Series and is Jess and Avery’s story. Once again Em Petrova has hit it out of the park. It’s another great book in the series. This book has it all, from action and suspense to hot and steamy romance. It can be read as a standalone and be an enjoyable read but there are always little spoilers that pop up and Jess and Avery to interact with characters in the previous books. The Rangers Ops are a tight knit family. I highly recommend reading the other four books. It’s a great series.
Jess is what you could call unlucky in love. You get glimpses of it in the previous books in the series and you can’t help but feel a tad sorry for him. He seems to be the guy women love to dump. He can’t seem to catch a break in the with relationships, so he’s pretty much swore off them for now. Avery believes she’s fated to die at the hands of criminals due to past experiences she’s had so she becomes a cop to control her fate and to protect the people. When she was 10, she was home alone when robbers broke in and when she was in college she was attacked.
Jess and Avery meet at a CPR training class. They both are interested in each other, but Jess is gun shy about dating and Avery is dealing with the fallout from an off-duty incident. They start a friendship that soon turn into more. They’re relationship has to weather a lot of crazy stuff, but can they handle all that is sent their way or well Jess crash and burn in the love department again?

Ranger Ops member, Jess Monet was just about ready to give up on any hope of having a happy, long-term relationship. Any of his previous attempts had gone down in flames. So when he met police officer Avery Aarons at a CPR class, he was trying hard to keep her in the friend zone, no matter how many sparks were flying between them. Easier said than done. These two have amazing chemistry that just can’t be denied. This story takes you along on some pretty exciting missions, and puts you in the middle of some crazy terror plots. I love these Ranger Ops books because they keep you on the edge of your seat and are always so entertaining. It’s not just about the romance, which is always excellent as well. So if you like action, smoking sex scenes, hot alphas, and kick-butt women, give this book a read!

Target in Range is the fifth instalment in Em Petrova’s Ranger Ops series and a perfect example of the author’s aptitude for combining action, intrigue and passion into one gripping story that holds the reader in its grasp from start to finish.
Jess and Avery are both dedicated and capable law enforcement officers, but as with any high octane and dangerous profession, the emotionally impact can be confronting and leave an individual questioning their ability to function without damage to their humanity.
This is a story of not only fighting for what’s right and just but acknowledging the true meaning of survival and allowing yourself to be vulnerable while recognising a kindred soul who will share your weakest moments and support you through the darkest moments of your life.
Intense, real and at times even heartbreaking; Target in Range is definitely high on my list of must-read books by Ms Petrova and will long remain a favourite. The author has beautifully described the need to allow your imperfections to surface, if your quest to find strength and direction has any chance to succeed. This is definitely a book I highly recommend, even if you haven’t read the others in the series.
