Killer. Criminal. Sociopath. All of these words have been used to describe me, and for the longest time I believed that that’s all I was.I’m the man you call in to clean up your mess, assuming your mess is a guy who needs a bullet to the head. I’m the man the MC calls when they want their dirty work done.I’m the man who doesn’t feel.Until now.Until her.Now my mess is a woman who won’t save … her.
Now my mess is a woman who won’t save herself. I’ll fight like hell to save her, but at what price to the club? And at what cost to me?

I can’t start this review without saying, that this series is not for the faint hearted. It is not a sweet and fluffy romance. It has many brutal scenes that can be triggers for some people, there is abuse and violence. So, if this is not for you, then pass on this series. This author has plenty of others you could try. But… if you like a darker side to your romance, if you can handle it rough…. then this definitely is worth the read. This is more real life MC behaviour than you will read elsewhere. It is not an easy ride, it is as bumpy as hell.
Tank was in book one, he is the closest one to Kick, they might not be blood brothers, but they are in every other sense of the word. The time frame is coinciding with Kick’s book and I feel you could read this as a standalone, but it is meant to be a series and you will want to know about Kick and his new girl.
I am not usually into MC books or even a lot of violence but this author drags me in, and I can not look away. I love the way she can take an aggressive and boorish man and still make him loveable. But don’t tell Tank I said that, as I think he will kick my butt! And I don’t want Ivy knowing I have a thing for Tank, as she scares me as well. She could hold her own in any situation as she is a warrior princess. Tank has had a thing for Ivy well before she made it to the club. Unfortunately for him, Ivy had others things on her mind, mainly staying alive, so Tank was pushed to the back. Things change when Ivy becomes too self destructive, and the Prez gets Tank to clean her up. That’s when we see just how much Tank is wrapped around Ivy’s little pinky, and each doesn’t really know it till it hits them square in the chest. There were times I wanted to say, wake up Ivy, look what is in front of you and tell her to stop, just stop. But she’s an addict, and she had to hit rock bottom before she could move forward. As this isn’t a normal romance book, I shouldn’t expect it to run the course like it would for a for one of those. Ivy isn’t selfish, she is just trying to keep everyone else safe from the monster that has plagued her since a small girl. She has many obstacles to hurdle, but it is how she confronts her fears that had me cheering for her and wanting to give her a huge hug. She learnt that she was enough, that they both mattered, not only to each other, but in life. They were both enough.
From the dark
Having read Kick – the first book in Carmen Jenner’s Savage Saints MC and I highly recommend reading it before starting this book – I thought I knew what I’d be in for with Tank, but I was surprised in the best way and all my expectations were shot to pieces. Yes this story is still set in the gritty, violent, terrible world of bikies; yes the main characters are an assassin and a (trying to get clean) drug addict; yes there is a whole lot of abuse, drug use, gun use, rape, and other despicable things in this story – but for me, at its essence this is one hell of a beautiful love story. Yet again, Carmen has shown me another side of her incredible writing talent by making me fall in love with both of these misfit characters – but Tank especially- in the first 10% of the book and that’s no easy feat. I was blown away by how the situation these two found themselves in remained so much in the background and it was their feelings, their emotions and their experiences that were the important part of the story for me.
So many people avoid these types of books – ones that are gritty and confronting and realistic about the dark side of humanity – and to me that’s a real shame, because from the dark can come beauty and passion and a love that never lets go. And some of the scenes in Tank are absolutely traumatising, sickening and upsetting – but the difference is that a good author will shock you, but a phenomenal author like Carmen Jenner will make you feel, will make your stomach turn and your heart ache and make you want to keep turning the pages to know how it all ends. This was another book I could not put down as it was action packed, hot and steamy, and full of more romance then I would’ve ever anticipated.
I really hope that Carmen ends up delving back into the world of Savage Saints MC (and yes I do have the Christmas novella to read next) as I’d love to see some of the other bikies receive their own happy endings – like Kick and Tank – and show me that initial looks and first impressions cannot truly show illustrate a character is all about.
