Abusers never stop. If anyone’s familiar with this it’s Tyler “Tank” Wilde. Tank moves to Black Widow, Texas, to join the Blue Guardians, a group that helps abused women and children. He’s intent on starting his life over, but a small piece of his past collides with his present when he runs into the local waitress, Annie Carter.Annie’s the girl of his boyhood dreams, and Tank can’t wait to get … dreams, and Tank can’t wait to get reacquainted with her. Only problem is, Annie’s engaged. But what has Tank more troubled than the diamond on her finger is the bruise that graces her arm.
Tank is determined to offer Annie a safe haven, but she refuses. The last thing she wants to do is leave one man only to run into the arms of another. But at Tank’s persistence, she knows she has two choices: allow him to protect her or die at the hands of her fiancé.
Was their past a prelude to their future? If there’s anyone in the world Annie would pick to go into hiding with, it’s the boy who once held her heart, but how can they hide from the monster who holds the town’s law in his hands?

“You can’t out-brave crazy.”
Erin Bevan is a new author to me, but I couldn’t resist checking out her new release featuring the Blue Guardians MC that helps abused women and children. Yeah, I’m an MC Romance addict and a badass biker is my kryptonite, especially one that is badass for a good cause.
Well, after having read hundreds of biker books, I must say this motorcycle club is unique. They are definitely not 1% and they allow women to be patched members. So, don’t expect this story to be similar to other MC Romances you’ve read before, because the focus is on relationships and abuse more than the club lifestyle. While it may be different, that doesn’t mean there isn’t suspense.
The author did a good job of pulling me into Annie’s crisis, making me feel her pain and desperation. She also did an excellent job of making me hate the villain, I was ready to join the club (you know since they do allow women, right?) and kick his ass myself. She pulled a little sneaky-sneak too, throwing in some twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting that made things even more interesting.
If you are a fan of insta-love you’ll enjoy this one. Tank is drawn to Annie immediately, but he has to bide his time to get close to her. She’s like a wounded animal that doesn’t trust anyone, and when you meet her fiance you will understand why. She sees no way out of her current situation, and when the sexy biker offers to help her she refuses at first. Though eventually, he becomes “My knight in bandana-clad armor.”
I enjoyed meeting the other members of the club and I’m curious about what led them to become involved in the Blue Guardians. Tank shared that, “Truth is, I’m broken, and I know you don’t want to add my past to your pain.” I’m pretty sure that they each have a history of abuse that led them there and that future installments will shed some light on their pasts. The series is titled, Black and Blue, right?
First time reading this author and it will not be my last time. BookBub is such an amazing source to try new authors.
I really enjoyed this story. It was great to see strength come out of vulnerability.
It’s about domestic abuse and it’s aftermath. It tells that story well. The romance tale is a good average. The editing — not so much. I found the grammatical errors and plainly wrong words distracting.
A story of abuse and the courage to go on.
I enjoyed this book. I’d like to read more books by this author
This was not for the faint of heart. The trauma of physical and sexual abuse is portrayed very realistically. The characters were real. Part of the plot line stretched believability (but for a happy ever after. )
Not so great!
Who knew a man built like a tank could have such a soft and loving personality?
A beautifully heartfelt read that draws you in right from the beginning. It takes a look at the complexities of abuse, and how it’s possible to achieve happiness after surviving a difficult past. While both Annie and Tank wish they never would have had to endure such atrocities, they also realize that while they can’t change their pasts, it shaped who they are today. All they can do is try to live their lives to the fullest, and look forward to a future together.

Tank is a romance novel about two damaged people who have suffered abuse. Tyler and Annie meet at a turning point in their lives. Both are trying to get past their horrific pasts, and in Annie’s case her present. They both suffer from PTSD and want to build a future.
Tyler inherits a house from his grandfather and moves to Black Widow, Texas to make a new life, forget his abusive father, and join a motorcycle club. The Blue Guardians, are dedicated to protecting and helping children and women who’ve been the victims of abuse. Tyler wants to prevent what happened to him from happening to others. He’s a big guy with a big heart.
Annie, or Beauty as Tyler calls her, is a victim of a physically and mentally abusive relationship. She feels trapped and doomed as is so often the case when a victim is bullied and beaten. She’s being pounded into submission by her fiancé, a demonic man who is bipolar and powerful.
Tyler, who is given the moniker of Tank by the head of the Blue Guardians, realizes that he and Annie knew each other as children and he quickly recognizes that Annie is being abused. How will he save and protect her? Can he get past his own abusive childhood? Can he and Annie rise like Phoenix’s from the flames of abuse?
Erin Bevin has built a sweet, satisfying tale of the power of love to heal, and the perseverance of the human spirit.
When Tyler tries to find his way into the Blue Guardians, an MC that helps abused children and women, he’s got good reasons for wanting to join. After all, he’s no stranger to abuse himself. And when he recognizes a local waitress in his new town as a young girl he once knew when they were children, and it appears she’s suffering from abuse herself, he’s doubly sure he wants to join the Blue Guardians.
I found Tank to be a powerful story of two people’s journey to healing, to love, to acceptance. I like how Annie slowly comes to trust Ty, and how Ty fits right in with his new club. And I love how they finally get Annie’s abuser out of her life. All in all, Tank is a wonderful, well-written story. Kudos to Erin Bevan!
