Houston Detective Zoe Warren is trying to catch a killer. When one of her leads takes her to the small ranching town of Royal, she comes face-to-face with sexy rancher Cord Galicia. Cord knows Zoe is on the wrong track: not only is his best friend not a killer; he is dealing with the illness of his sister, the only family he has left. So Cord does what any friend would do and steps in to distract Zoe and keep her away from his friend. It really isn’t too difficult as their chemistry is off the charts…if only she had a different profession.
This was an enjoyable and quick read, as Zoe and Cord are interesting and well-developed characters with their own aspirations, loyalties, and flaws. They both have their own baggage that they need to overcome to have the opportunity to move forward and find their own happily ever after, both alone and as a couple.
This is part of the Texas Cattleman’s Club series, but can easily stand alone, as it focuses on the two characters and details of the murder and the ensuing investigation are woven into the story.
I have enjoy Yvonne Lindsay’s story-telling in the past and this one is no exception!

TANGLED WITH A TEXAN by Yvonne Lindsay is the eighth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Houston series and is sure to enthrall reader’s of the series. We are quick to be drawn into the story line of new players on the scene when a detective from Houston tangles with a local rancher in this explosive read.
Zoe bursts on the scene as a detective from Houston who is heading to Royal, TX to find out who had motive to murder the guy on the land of the Texas Cattleman’s Club.
Cord is willing to play hard ball and distract the headstrong cop because he is protective of his friend and neighbor Jesse when she starts pushing her weight around in order to question him right at the time that there’s a bit of a family emergency.
The chemistry between Zoe and Cord was attention grabbing, and I recommend this book to anyone enjoying a lot of sass and controversy in their romance. The characters were a fun addition to the ones we already know in the series, and the story added a nice bit of drama. Looking forward to more to come in the series as we head towards finding out who is behind the trouble.
Tangled with a Texan is Yvonne Lindsay’s latest contribution to Harlequin Desire’s Texas Cattleman Club: Houston series. Zoe Warren comes to town to investigate a murder. One of her prime suspects is Cord Galicia’s best friend. When she can’t locate him, she seeks out Cord for answers.
Cord is a rancher who has taken over his family’s operation but also has dreams of his own. He is also protective of his best friend which raises Zoe’s suspicions. As Cord and Zoe grow closer together, will Zoe put an end to the murder investigation? Will Cord find the answers he’s searching for?
Tangled with a Texan is a standalone book in the series. I would recommend reading the other books in the series as it will provide the reader with a little more of the backstory. I highly enjoyed this book. I’d like to disclose that I received an advance copy. This is my true and honest opinion.
Tangled with a Texan marks my first time reading Yvonne Lindsay. I can definitely say it won’t be the last time. Tangled with the Texan is the eighth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Houston series. It is only the third book I’ve read in the series, and I found it to be a completely standalone read. In fact, none of the key series characters make appearances at all. Through the epilogue, you do find out what the series villain is thinking.
In Tangled with a Texan, third-generation police detective Zoe Warren is trying to find out who killed Vincent Hamm, an employee of Perry Holdings, whose body was found at the construction site of the Texas Cattleman’s Club Houston location. Following a lead, Zoe travels from Houston to Royal with the sole purpose of speaking with local rancher Jessie Stevens. Her efforts become stalled when Jesse’s neighbor and best friend Cord Galicia gets involved. Cord knows Jesse would never kill anyone and with Zoe not taking his word for it, he sets out to distract her. He just never expects his method of distraction to turn into true feelings.
Zoe and Cord are opposites in every way. She’s a city girl and he’s a small-town guy. He wants a wife and kids to carry on the Galicia legacy. She wants to prove that a woman is just as good of a cop as a man. What they do have in common is their desire and attraction for one another. But for these two, the biggest problem is that Zoe is a cop through and through and risks her life every single day.
I loved these two together. I loved their back-and-forth banter. I loved the way they each tried to fight their feelings. I loved watching them come together. I think that if the story would have brought out more emotions from me, it would have been a five-star read.
As far as the series arc goes, I think I’ve figured out who the villain is. I just haven’t really figured out why. As with the other books I’ve read, the epilogue is intriguing and has me chomping at the bit to read the next book, Hot Holiday Rancher, which happens to be a Christmas romance written by Catherine Mann.
