3.75 stars–TANGLED UP IN YOU is the seventh instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult THE SHAUGHNESSY BROTHERS romance series focusing on a tight knit group of family and friends on the Carolina coast. This is thirty-six year old, police officer Bobby Hannigan, and twenty-seven year old, social worker/guidance counselor Teagan Shaughnessy’s story line. TANGLED UP IN YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Teagan and Bobby) TANGLED UP IN YOU follows the acrimonious relationship between thirty-six year old, police officer Bobby Hannigan, and twenty-seven year old, social worker/guidance counsellor, single mother Teagan Shaughnessy. Several weeks earlier police officer Bobby Hannigan became a statistic, while off-duty, when he was shot in hold-up gone horribly wrong. Fast forward to present, wherein Bobby, impatiently on the mend, and feeling sorry for himself, reluctantly attends a family picnic where he will come face to face with his future. Enter Teagan Shaughnessy, Quinn Shaughnessy’s cousin, and the woman with whom Bobby will fall in love. What ensues is the back and forth, petulant relationship between Bobby and Teagan, and the potential fall-out as Teagan is unable to come to terms with Bobby’s profession and his past.
Teagan Shaughnessy is a single mother who lost the love of her life years before. Meeting Bobby Hannigan stirred something long thought buried and dead, but something Teagan struggled to release and let go. As a single mother Teagan’s first priority is the raising of her son, and falling in love was never on the agenda. Bobby Hannigan struggles with the slow healing process of his injured left shoulder, an injury that could end his career as a police officer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Battling his family, his attitude and his feelings for Teagan push Bobby’s patience on more than one occasion.
The relationship between Teagan and Bobby is one of immediate attraction but Bobby isn’t in a good place; anguishing over his uncertain future finds Bobby unsure of who he is and what he wants. Teagan endeavors to be the perfect mother but sometimes motherhood is difficult, and in this Teagan has issues of trust, when it comes to her future, and that of her son’s. The $ex scenes fade to black or are mostly implied.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Teagan’s cousin Quinn, and his wife Anna, Bobby’s sister. The fracture family dynamics between Bobby and Quinn plays heavily on Bobby and Teagan’s growing relationship.
TANGLED UP IN YOU is a story of family, friendship, uncertainty and trust. The back and forth, yin and yang, tumultuous relationship between Teagan and Bobby is oft times disheartening and fuelled my anxiety. Teagan and Bobby had to be one of the most frustrating couples with a roller coaster of emotions, give and take, want and need. Misunderstanding, miscommunication, issues of trust, and uncertainty continued to fuel a relationship that was already struggling with distance and time. The premise is engaging; the romance is full of ups and downs; the characters are energetic but their attitude and behaviour left me discouraged.
I will add that I appear to be in the minority with my take on our story line couple. In no way does the character’s actions reflect poorly upon the author’s ability to write but affects on my overall enjoyment of the story line romance.
Love the characters. Good suspenseful story that unites two reluctant people fighting their attraction.
Loved this offshoot from the Shaughnessy Brothers Series. Bobby is Anna’s brother, friend/foe to Quinn Shaughnessy, his brother-in-law.
Bobby finds himself back home after an accident at work leaves helpless and in need of his family. He isn’t in the best of moods finding himself back in the mix with his sister and her husband’s perfect family. But while home he meets someone who completely changes his world. Now he must make a decision on whether to start living his life to the fullest or go back to what he thinks is safe.
I loved this sweet novella bringing all our favorite characters from the series back to us and giving us 3 more to fall in love with.
Fans of the series will love this add-on and if you are new, no need to read the other books in the series as this can be read as a standalone.
This was another excellent addition into the Shaughnessy brothers/family series. Bobby Hannibal is Anna Hannibal shaughnessy’s older brother. I liked Bobby in the prior books and didn’t expect him to get his own book so this was a welcome surprise. Teagan Shaughnessy is a cousin, a widow with a child and new to town. At first I liked her by by three quarters of the way through I was ready to smack her in the head to make up her mind about Bobby. Bobby is an endearing guy who is basically in his first relationship and muddling his way through it while also recoverying from a career ending injury. The best parts of this book were Ian Shaughnessy setting Bobby straight for his poor behavior and
Teagan giving Quinn hell. He is a pill and deserved it. Lucas was a well written little kid who was not overly babyish or precocious. The author well wrote both moms fears about their oldest children starting kindergarten. This was a great beach read and an overall excellent addition to the series Last thing, I love Riley (his book is my favorite in the series) and was glad he made an appearance.
A glorious return to all things Shaughnessy! If you were as big of fan of this family as I have been throughout this series, you will be thrilled to get to touch base with all of them again when their cousin Teagan finds love with Bobby Hannigan. Love this series as a whole and this particular book was a mix of reunion and rediscovery. Enjoyed it!
Bobby Hannigan didn’t expect to be heading back to his parents home in North Carolina, but when you get shot and your whole career is on the line waiting to see if you will recover, things have a way of snowballing. The only bright spot in this whole dark time is meeting Teagan.
Teagan Shaughnessy followed her parents from Colorado to NC so her son would still have the family he dearly loves near him. She’s not looking to make any more big changes in her life at the moment, but she can’t seem to get her heart to understand that every time it skips a beat when Bobby is near.
Great book
Having read all of Samantha Chase’s Shaughnessy Brothers and Band on the Run series, I have been fully invested in the lives of the Shaughnessys and their extended family. Chase’s wonderful writing style and engaging characters have given me many hours of reading enjoyment, and I’m sad to see the series end.
Tangled Up in You features police officer Bobby Hannigan, Quinn Shaughnessy’s brother-in-law, who was shot when he happened upon a robbery while off duty. His recuperation is uncertain, and his future as a cop is in limbo. Teagan Shaughnessy is a single mother who has moved to North Carolina to be closer to the family and take a new position after getting her degree.
The attraction between Bobby and Teagan is immediate, but both are afraid to risk following up on it. Teagan dealt with losing her son’s father while he was deployed overseas and is afraid of the risks of Bobby’s career, while Bobby is terrified of the depth of feeling he has for Teagan. Chase’s deftly deals with their apprehensions and places the focus on what’s really important.
“Wasn’t life about taking risks? Wasn’t love about taking risks?”
Bobby and Teagan overcome their fears and earn a hard-won HEA.
“You brought laughter and joy and all that goes with it into my life.”
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I heartily recommend this book and both series.
Stephannie 5 Star Review:
Samantha Chase’s Tangled Up In You is an amazing story of man who gets injured in the line of duty and struggles to accept the fact that he might never go back in the field again and be stuck behind a desk for the rest of his life. He is angry and not the best patient when family tries to help him deal with his new realty.
Teagan Shaughnessy is a single mom who moves from Colorado to North Carolina when her parents decide they want to move. It’s a great move because Teagan found her dream job as an elementary school guidance counselor here in North Carolina. Teagan son Lucas’ father died before he was born. So she has worked hard to put herself through college while raising her son with some help from her parents. Teagan doesn’t date ever but when Bobby shows up at a family barbeque.
This was a great story. I didn’t read the previous books and could still enjoy this one. Teagan and Bobby start out as friends and the chemistry and their feelings change things quickly. that they can only be friends but, that quickly changes. Even Bobby and Lucas develop a relationship.
The problem is Teagan is afraid of Bobby is a cop and his hope is to go back out in the field. Teagan has dealt with someone dying. She is scared. She wants to be with him but isn’t sure she should take the risk. Can she find it in herself to be with Bobby? I love this story and book. It was a amazing read and so heartfelt.
Samantha Chase does it again in her latest Shaughnessy book!!! She wrote about another great couple while mixing in tidbits about the rest of the family. Teagan and Bobby are perfect for each other, they just have to get through some of their own red tape they have created for themselves before they can admit this to each other. I really liked, that the Shaughnessy’s, Teagan’s parents, and Bobby’s parents were all part of this book. It added to the story and they fit in perfectly. The mother daughter chat, Bobby’s dad and mom talking to him. Great real life situations put into another wonderful book by Samantha Chase.
Tangled up in You is the newest book in the Shaughnessy Brothers series from Samantha Chase and she gave her readers such a wonderful story. Teagan Shaughnessy and Bobby Hannigan meet at a family cookout as Tegan is a Shaughnessy cousin and Bobby’s sister Anna is married to Quinn Shaughnessy, who is Teagan’s cousin. Bobby isn’t in the best frame of mind when he first meets both Teagan and her son Lucas, as he is recovering from a gunshot wound and he is an absolutely horrible patient. Teagan and her son, along with her parents have just moved back to the Carolina coast and are loving being able to reconnect with family.
Teagan is a very strong woman. She lost her fiancé before Lucas was ever born and is very gun-shy about getting into another relationship. However, she and Bobby have an insane attraction to each other and really seemed to get each other. I also really loved that Bobby and Lucas connected pretty much from the moment they met and it never felt like a force relationship. Not that both Teagan and Bobby didn’t have some issues. Teagan was scared to ever give her heart away again after losing her first love, and Bobby was afraid he would never be able to go back to the police force as it kept taking longer and longer for his wound to heal. I loved seeing Teagan and Bobby grow closer and closer the more time they spent together. They both did allow their pasts to get in the way longer than I would have liked, but I loved how they worked thought their issues to become a real family.
While I loved getting Teagan and Bobby’s story, I also loved getting to spend time with Anna and Quinn in Tangled up in You. Anna was such a great friend to Teagan from the moment she arrived and just what Teagan really needed. However, what made me laugh pretty much every time he was on the page was Quinn giving Bobby a hard time much as Bobby had done to him when he and Anna were first getting together. I will say, seeing Quinn and Bobby actually becoming real friends gave me all the feels, as I love a good bromance.
Tangled up in You was a wonderful addition to the Shaughnessy series of books. While it is the 7th book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone story. I highly suggest this book and series to fans of contemporary romances filled with love, laughter, and a plethora of emotions.

This is book 7 in the Shaughnessy Brothers Series and I loved this book.
This one covers Teagan Shaughnessy and Bobby Hannigan. The chemistry between them is off the charts and hot AF from the moment they meet.
Bobby was shot and injured his shoulder after intervening on a robbery and is struggling with how extensive the damage is and the fear he may not be able to go back to active duty.
Teagan is a single parent an has moved her and her son from Colorado to North Carolina. Her world revolves around her son Lucas and she is still dealing with the loss of his father after he was killed in action before Lucas was born.
I will be honest and say, whilst I loved Bobby and Teagan instantly I did struggle with Teagan at certain points. Her indecisive hot/cold attitude really annoyed me. Whilst I could understand her fear she was extremely unfair on Bobby knowing how he felt about her.
Samantha Chase writes small town romances brilliantly.
Teagan and Bobby’s path is not an easy one. With lots of turmoil and angst, each have their own nightmares that need to be put to rest so they can move forward. With the love and help of friends and family, it’s a beautiful story of overcoming obstacles that seem insurmountable, and finding love again. Their story is filled with so many emotions, it is a real page turner for the romantic at heart. A standalone read and the last in a great series, Teagan, Lucas and Bobby’s story has many great moments in their path to a HEA. *I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me “Tangled Up In You”.* My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars for a great ending to a great series!

Mary Jo –
I enjoyed this book. Taking two people who have had two completely different, major life events happen to them and having them really get to know each other and find their way to love.
Teagan is a single mom who has moved across the country with her parents to be closer to her extended family. She wants her son, Lucas, to be around family since it doesn’t look like she will marry again.
Bobby is coming off an injury that could end his career as a police officer. Unable to really take care of himself, he goes to his parents’ house to recuperate. Unsatisfied with the progress of his rehabilitation, he wallows in what ifs.
Meeting Teagan is the best thing that has happened to Bobby in his life, but she’s not sure she can handle being the wife of police officer. Bobby knows that Teagan must make this decision on her own, and he’s willing to do what it takes to make it work.

Great story about a cop, Bobby, strong and stubborn after being injured and he’s moved back to his parent’s home to recover. He’s tough and not happy about this, his injury isn’t healing as fast as he’d like it to and he’s faced with the possibility of not being back out there on the streets doing what he’s always dreamed of, being a cop.
Teagan, widowed, recently moved with her son and parent’s to be closer to their extended family. When she meets Bobby, sparks fly, but she can’t allow this, her main focus is on her son, it has to be. After losing her husband, she’s afraid to open her heart up again, but she can’t deny the attraction to Bobby, but he has his own demons going on like her. Can these two put their demons aside and enjoy a relationship? Read along and find out!
5 stars, I just love Samantha’s books!! Grab this asap!!
Another great book from Samantha Chase. Bobby and Teagan are both strongly independent people who each have to learn to lean on others for help. This is a charming and sweet story with the familiar and fun characters we have come to know and love from this author. She knows how to tug on the heartstrings and make the reader fall totally in love with the characters.
This seventh book in the Shaughnessy series is a wonderful story of family, home towns, moving on, and trust. Author Samantha Chase delivers the story of Officer Bobby Hannigan and Teagan Shaughnessy so perfectly, I couldn’t think of anything else while I was reading this!
Teagan’s military husband was KIA before her son, Lucas, was born and when she decided to move across the country to be near family and for a job she was excited about, Lucas wasn’t too pleased but she was determined to make it work. Her parents moved with her to be by the family and help Teagan raise Lucas.
Bobby Hannigan woke up in the hospital to Quinn Shaughnessy’s face. Even though they had rough times in the past, they have since become friends. Friends who know too much about each other…oh and they are now family because Quinn married Bobby’s sister Anna. As Officer Hannigan remembers why he is in the hospital, reality hits him. Unsure of his recovery potential, he becomes reclusive and grouchy.
I loved this storyline and delivery so much! It gave me all the feels…heartbreak, love, frustration, anger, deep feelings….I was pulled into this single mom story so deeply! Add in the hot, sexy cop and the sparks and it was an easy 5 star rating for me! I would whole-heartedly recommend this phenomenal love story!
Tangled up in YOu in the first book from this series and by this author that I have had the pleasure of reading. I loved following Bobby and Teagan’s story as they both try to move on and start over. I really enjoyed the additional characters from the previous books, and will be reading the other books in this series.
Sweet Ending to the series!
The Shaughnessy series closes out on the story of Teagan (Quinn’s cousin) and Bobby (Quinn’s childhood neighbour, nemesis, and Anna’s brother (Quinn’s wife). And this book was something special! Teagan is a single mother to a young boy. She and her son as well as her parents move back to Carolina to be with their extended family. Teagan is not looking for a man in her life and if she was, Bobby is not whom she would choose. Bobby is a police officer who is recovering from a gunshot to his shoulder. Unfortunately, his prognosis is not great for a full recovery, but he is determined. But Bobby is a grumpy patient at his parents’ home and the family has had enough of it. They understand his frustration, but they need him to start taking care of himself and looking at his future options.
The slow build, push and pull between Teagan and Bobby and the way Lucas (Teagan’s son) is always included is a special journey. The interactions with the rest of the Shaughnessy clan are classic family, where they support, tease and genuinely love each other. This book was all consuming, I loved it!
5 TANGLED UP STARS!! This author is amazing with her storytelling…I always feels like the characters are part of my family. Bobby and Teagan are no different, these two are perfect. Their story is so loving with all the feels you can ever want. I could not put this book down, I love the Shaughnessy’s and I know you will too.
So excited to read Bobby’s story and it did not disappoint. I could not put it down. Bobby is recovering from a gunshot wound and now his career is in jeopardy as a police officer. Teagan, a single mom has just moved back to Carolina to be with her family, The Shaughnessy’s. Bobby and Teagan are both strong willed independent souls but can’t deny the sexual chemistry between them. Bobby has been known as being a player and Teagan has not had a relationship since her fiancee died, she has been busy raising Lucas. Can they make this relationship work and find their HEA?
Loved, loved this book. So much emotion, that will leave you smiling. Loved Bobby with Lucas, it made me fall in love with him. Teagan, she took a while to grow on, she was so afraid of loosing Bobby like her fiancee. Loved reconnecting with the Shaughnessy family, a great wrap for the series.
