I might be a country girl from the same small town of Sweetwater, Texas, as horse wrangler Roarke Frost, the girl next door who knows him like few know him, but I didn’t know enough to save my heart. He’s the reason why I left Sweetwater behind. But now fate proves she loves a wicked twist and sends me back to Sweetwater to pull together a Christmas festival–and I run smack into the man again, … the man again, quite literally. His body is pressed to mine, his hands on my arms, and I’m melting like chocolate in the sizzling Texas sunshine. And I run.
I know it’s not exactly respectable, but it works, just not for long. No matter how much I try to get tangled up in Christmas, I end up tangled up in Roarke instead–and the man has me feeling the heat of our attraction and the warmth of our past friendship. He feels like Mr. Right, but history says he’s Mr. Wrong.
But if he wants a second chance, Roarke Frost is going to have to work for it. He’ll need to prove to me that this holiday is a season of new beginnings, the kind that last forever.
Each book in the Texas Heat series is STANDALONE:

I absolutely loved Roarke and Hannah’s story. Ms Jones not only captured the heart of this story but told it in such a way that you find yourself rooting for the couple. Due to a misunderstanding the two have not seen one another in seven years. The intriguing part is finding out who is behind the misunderstanding and why. A truly great second chance romance. Roarke is a man you can’t help but swoon over. His determination to get Hannah back is wonderful. Hannah can’t deny that Rourke is the only one she has ever loved. They slowly open up to one another and because they are older and wiser now they are now willing to talk about what happened that lead Hannah to leave. The chemistry between them has obviously never died and if anything it has grown stronger. This may be different from Ms Jones’ more suspenseful romances, yet it is just as good. It seems Ms Jones is a very talented writer no matter what type of romance she is writing. I absolutely loved this book and am looking forward to more in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A Heartwarming, sexy, fun and engaging second chance romance filled with exciting charters, witty banter and thrilling passion….. was a excellent read from beginning to end. Really loved this heart string pulling journey and I am looking forward to the next adventure.
Second chance to love.
This is the second book in the Texas Heat series, and the story of Rourke, and Hannah. Thinking Rourke had betrayed her, Hannah skipped town, and left her life behind, now six years later, fate has intervened, and she is back home, and right back into the arms of Rourke. But unable to trust Rourke, or her heart, Hannah tries to hide from more heartbreak. But not everything is as it seems, and when some truths are brought to light, Rourke, and Hannah, can finally get their second chance. Great book, this was entertaining, emotional, dramatic, and steamy.
This book! Roarke if called the “Horse Whisperer” but I think he was the “Brenda Whisperer” because he whispered his way into my heart!

Who doesn’t love Cowboys? Not this Texas girl…I mean come on…let’s be serious! Add the fact that he is a sweet talking, devoted, veterinarian and saver of animals Cowboy and it’s a home run in my opinion! I loved Roarke! This is a second chance book with Roarke and Hannah. These two had grown up together, fell in love, and were engaged until Roarke allegedly cheats on Hannah.
This story takes place 6 years later, and our sweet talking cowboy has Hannah in is sights and is ready to rekindle the love they shared. But is it too late? Can Hannah let go of the past and let Roarke back into her heart? You will need to read this book to find out!
I enjoyed this book, and the ending was fantastical!!! Do I recommend? What do you think…save a horse, ride a cowboy ! Read this book!!!!
5 Finding Home Again Stars!!!
One of the things I love so much about Lisa Renee Jones’ writing is her ability to write stories in whatever sub-genre of romance she wants to write about. This book is a fabulous second chance holiday romance and I loved every page of this story.
Hannah and Roarke were engaged several years ago and then it all crashed and burned, and when we find out how’s and why’s, I’m not going to say my heart didn’t hurt just a little bit because it did! Because of her pain Hannah escapes Sweetwater, TX and heads to LA to work on her photography skills. When she finds herself having to come back to Texas after seven years the last person she wants to see or expects to see is Roarke…imagine both their surprise and where they meet again totally had me chuckling!!
Anyway, Hannah is determined to not fall under his spell again. Her heart just can’t take another disappointment but the fates are not in her corner when she gets the opportunity to put her new event planning business on the map while working with Jason and Jessica (we met them in The Truth About Cowboys) she has no choice to be in this man’s presence on a regular basis. I was so on board with this project because I knew there was a connection that was still so strong for both of them…
“This isn’t home. Dallas isn’t home, but this man, he is home.”
I could feel Hannah’s anguish in admitting that to herself. Roarke is a man that’s been embedded in her heart and here he is in all his glory and success wanting to reconnect but she’s so conflicted about it. I absolutely loved this man! He’s determined to protect her from some of the reasons to what happened all those years ago but he wants her love again too!
Things start to come to a head so to speak and their heat is sizzling and sexy in all the right ways….
“I can’t explain what kissing him feels like, but I just need more of it, of him.”
I knew right there that she was a goner! I was on board with team Roarke and Hannah and I kept reading and reading because I wanted their HEA almost as much as they did!
This book moves at a rapid pace because of what Roarke and Jason are trying to accomplish in Sweetwater, but honestly, it fits with our H/h finding their way back to each other. Their passion is fiery and now that they’ve found themselves back to where it all started, they don’t want to waste any time!!
Don’t get me wrong it’s not a smooth ride and there will be some hurt feelings but their love is even stronger now and they’re able to see more than what’s on the surface of some of the reasons for them being apart all these years!
If you’ve not read Ms. Jones before or if you’re looking to kick-off your holiday season reads with a romance that has it all, this is the book for you!!
If you have read The Truth About Cowboys then you know Roarke, he is the Vet in the town of Sweetwater and best friend to Jason, this is his story. I was really looking forward to reading about Roarke and learning more about this brooding cowboy because we all know that someone broke his heart at some point we just didn’t know who or how, well we get all the answers we were looking for in this book.
Hannah is returning to Texas after working in California for a few years, her boss got caught up in the #MeToo movement and she was blacklisted along with him because of her association to him…I will admit, this didn’t sit right with me but I guess it was a good excuse for her to return home, anyway, she is starting her own business as an Event Planner and her first major event is going to land her right smack into the person she was hoping to avoid at all costs, Roarke.
So that’s the basis around the story now here’s my dilemma, I liked the book I really did I just didn’t love it so do I rate it as three or four stars? Well I went with three and this is why:
Was the chemistry there? Yes absolutely but…..
Did they work things out before jumping into bed? NO absolutely not and I think this is where I have my biggest issue. I get the not wanting to keep your hands off one another but there was a big reason as to why you broke up in the first place so the trust is gone and before you have any discussion about it you’re fooling around, to me that was just rushed and unnecessary we knew they still cared very deeply for one another so them having sex so quickly to me minimized the reasoning on why they were apart for so long.
Were they keeping Secrets? Of Course there were secrets, some were big and some not so big but a complete shocker none the less. I understand the reasoning behind one but not the other so there’s that.
And then there’s Hannah’s family, for me their story line gave me whiplash, when you read the book you’ll understand why.
I recommend this book for lovers of Cowboy/Western Romances, Second Chance Romances, and lovers of Lisa Renee Jones’ books. This book is highly rated by other advanced readers and like I said I did enjoy it so I really hope you do grab a copy and give Hannah and Roarke’s Christmas Love Story a chance.
Happy Reading!!!
Sweet and naughty takes a holiday twist. Tangled Up In Christmas melds sentimental with tempting and gets electric. Jones gives her sensitive side free reign to seduce even the hardest of hearts. Roarke and Hannah are a heartache short of heartwarming. He’s a heartbreaker with a ton to regret. She’s a survivor, who wants to forget. Can the pain of yesterday pave the way for a happier tomorrow? Tangled Up In Christmas is the gift that keeps on giving all year long.
This is book #2, in the Texas Heat series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading these in order intended by the author.
Hannah returns to her hometown in this story about the holidays and second chances. She has to meet up with an Ex-fiance’ and others who watched her grow up. It is a little bit of eating humble pie, and a lot of resisting the charms of the only man she has ever loved.
Roarke wants the woman he loves back. Theirs is a story that puts the word complicated to shame. She thinks he cheated on him, and he was only a victim of someone else’s plot. Can he win her back on the merits of the fact they know one another like no other?
This story was challenging and pulls on the heart strings. Seeing a couple still so much in love be apart and still get through the day is hard. Told in a way that it just makes you appreciate romance books – this is a book that will take your heart and help it fly. I found the characters to be deep and compelling and I cannot wait for another installment of this series.

This is my first Lisa Renee Jones book and I think I picked the perfect one since second chance romance is my favorite trope. Tangled Up in Christmas is the second in the Texas Heat Series told in dual first person. It stands alone within the Sweetwater world, but has interconnecting characters from the previous book.
Hannah, twenty-one and Roarke, twenty-seven had been lifelong neighbors and engaged until an anonymous email with a video of a beautiful model draped all over Roarke the YouTube “Horse Whisperer” sensation. Hannah, heartbroken ends the engagement and moves to LA to start her photography career. Seven years pass and Hannah’s high fashion photography career unfairly goes up in smoke with her bosses bad behavior. Returning home to Sweetwater to begin an event planning business Hannah agrees to work for long time friend Jason and his wife, organizing the Christmas Festival. She must work closely with Roarke who is part of the event. Roarke makes it his mission to rekindle their love. It’s clear neither of them have moved on, but explanations are difficult to make the past right.
I love the Sweetwater has the perfect small town feeling with friends and awesome grandmas. There is plenty heartwarming animal goodness. With beautifully written characters and a storyline that was enjoyable to read this was a great holiday story. I’ll be reading all the Texas Heat stories.
A sweet second chance small town romance with a little steamy on the side and lots of family and friendship surrounding it.
Light in plot.
Fast pace chemistry.
A really hot horse whisperer.
This book is perfect for layback time
Oh how I loved returning to the small town of Sweetwater, Texas and it’s fantastic residents! Hannah and Roarke’s story is a sweet and sexy second chance romance that I loved from beginning to end. This story has all the feels and I absolutely loved the ending! Hannah and Roarke are perfect together and I loved that they got their perfect HEA!
Lisa Renee Jones is one of my go to authors and she did not disappoint me. I loved this second chance romance. Roark was so sweet, and He and Hannah never got over each other. This book kept me hooked from start to finish.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read LRJ and this blurb made me snap up this holiday story but I just didn’t connect with any of the characters.
I loved the animal rescue, the small town vibe, and the holiday festival. There was a lot about this book that I couldn’t get past: the, what seemed to me, dismissal of #MeToo and the insinuation that you should always forgive family regardless of their actions were two that I couldn’t get over. I never connected to any of the characters- the main ones from this story and the one before it. I think I’ll skip the rest of this series.
I give this book 4,5 stars.
I really loved “Tangled up in Christmas”.
The only reason I deducted half a star is because of Hannah in the beginning of the story. She was very stubborn and childish towards Roarke. She kept running away from him and wouldn’t listen to him since he was the one at fault for their breakup 6 years earlier. Little does she know, he didn’t do what he was accused of by her and there was other reasons behind what happened to them. Hannah starts figuring out some things and slowly starts to come around and realize what she wants. She truly grows with time and I began to love her too.
Now Roarke on the other hand is truly amazing from the start wow! He is a veterinarian, a horse wrangler and he is known on YouTube as the horse whisperer. I fell in love with him in “The truth about cowboys” (Jason’s best friend) and that definitely didn’t change in this book, actually quite the opposite. I want to marry him ha ha ha. He is so sweet, hot and a true alpha, but also very soft on the inside.
This is a story of lost love, family secrets and growing up and figuring out who you are and where you belong! A true enemies to lovers, second chance, small town romance with love of animals, amazing characters and great plot.
There was also a very sweet surprise at the end of the book so I can definitely recommend this book.
I got this book from Entangled Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
4 stars. Aww, this was a really sweet book. Tangled Up in Christmas is book two in the Texas Heat series. I enjoyed book one, but didn’t totally love it. I liked this book much better. This book is Hannah and Rourke’s story. Hannah and Rourke grew up together in their small Texas town, Sweetwater. They were friends and, when they got older, that grew into love one summer and an engagement. But it all ended quickly after some family drama and a misunderstanding. Hannah left town and was gone for six years, but now she is back in Texas. Everything has changed. Rourke is now a veterinarian and a Youtube star, the Horse Wrangler, in their small hometown. Hannah is starting her own business as an event planner in Dallas. She is surprised when her first big job brings her back to Sweetwater and back to Rourke. The two of them still have strong feelings for each other and a lot of issues to work out between them, but they can see that they are meant to be together.
I really liked Hannah and Rourke together. Theirs’ was a good second chance love story. They had great chemistry and were best friends. This book was the perfect length and amount of angst. The story and writing were very good. I also liked the horses and all the animals included.
Overall, I really enjoyed Hannah and Rourke’s journey back to each other. Tangled Up in Christmas is a sexy and sweet small town romance. I still think this series feels very different that anything Lisa Renee Jones has written before, but I enjoyed it anyway. I look forward to more from Ms. Jones in the future.
Bonus book: Santa, Baby
There was a bonus book included in the last 43% of Tangled Up in Christmas. Santa, Baby is a Cinderella-like story between a millionaire businessman and a reserved book store owner. I found it to be a cute, steamy, sweet and sexy read. There was a little added angst from an FBI investigation too. This was a fun bonus story.
Roarke was the love of her life. Having been engaged to him and on the verge of marriage, Hannah could not think of anything that could go wrong. Just then, a video of Roarke and a model (who was all over him!) showed up on her phone. Needless to say, Hannah packed her bags and left Sweetwater, Texas hopefully never to come back.
A couple of years have passed and Hannah is now in Dallas and starting to make a new beginning with her career as a photographer and event organizer. Maybe it was Fate but running straight into Roarke’s chest at the airport was not her idea of fun. Then, running into him a month later on her first big photographer assignment was totally unexpected. Now, it turns out she has been booked to do a Christmas Festival in Sweetwater to benefit the Children’s Hospital and guess who one of her bosses will be? You are correct! Roarke!!!
This love/hate/love journey is full of wit, emotions, and most of all romance! This is one of those books you will not want to put down and will not want for the story to end.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Tangled Up In Christmas is book 2 in The Texas Heat series by Lisa Renee Jones. This is Roarke and Hannah’s story and is a great second chance romance. This book is a little different from most of this authors books but she doesn’t disappoint. I loved this book and highly recommend it!!
5 TANGLED UP IN CHRISTMAS!! Wow….I love this time of year and this story was perfect. Roarke was perfect….he is the perfect book boyfriend… I even dreamed of him. This story has all the feels and a real page Turner. I love this authors words she definitely knows how to suck us readers in. This is a must read.
***4 Stars***
My head hurts.
It really does.
Roarke and Hannah took me on one hell of a ride. A ride I was all in for. But hot damn. The yo-yo’ing these two did just about killed me ~ though if it had, it would have been my own fault because I kept turning the pages to see what would happen next, but I needed to see just how everything would work it self for Roarke and Hannah in the end.
I really liked Hannah and Roarke. Roarke is a good man. Compassionate, passionate and determined. Hannah is sweet, creative and motivated. But when it came to their second chance at love journey…OMG they drove me batshitcrazy ~ Hannah more than Roarke in all honesty (wishy washy people drive me insane and considering I’m a Libra and am well versed in wishy washy it says a lot) ~ but they both definitely had their moments, in the past and the present. Thank goodness for their friends, family and just the nosy as all get out people of Sweetwater for making both of them see the error of their ways and finally get on the same page, because even through everything I knew that they were it for each other.
This one was definitely a rollercoaster of a ride, but worth it in the end. I loved catching up with Jason, Jessica and Martha and loved meeting Ruth ~ who was so much fun! I’m crossing my toes that we’ll get to spend a little more time in Sweetwater because there were a couple of interesting moments that I think could develop into a whole lot more!

Tangled up in Christmas was a delightful holiday romance. It had endearing characters and a well written storyline. I look forward to reading whatever this talented author writes next. I would definitely recommend this wonderful book.
