I might be a country girl from the same small town of Sweetwater, Texas, as horse wrangler Roarke Frost, the girl next door who knows him like few know him, but I didn’t know enough to save my heart. He’s the reason why I left Sweetwater behind. But now fate proves she loves a wicked twist and sends me back to Sweetwater to pull together a Christmas festival–and I run smack into the man again, … the man again, quite literally. His body is pressed to mine, his hands on my arms, and I’m melting like chocolate in the sizzling Texas sunshine. And I run.
I know it’s not exactly respectable, but it works, just not for long. No matter how much I try to get tangled up in Christmas, I end up tangled up in Roarke instead–and the man has me feeling the heat of our attraction and the warmth of our past friendship. He feels like Mr. Right, but history says he’s Mr. Wrong.
But if he wants a second chance, Roarke Frost is going to have to work for it. He’ll need to prove to me that this holiday is a season of new beginnings, the kind that last forever.
Each book in the Texas Heat series is STANDALONE:

She left Sweetwater, Texas and horse wrangler Roarke Frost behind when he broke her heart but now fate sends her back in a wicked twists and she runs smack into the man again. No matter how much she tries to get tangled up in Christmas, she ends up tangled in Roarke instead and he feel like Mr. Right, but history says he’s Mr. Wrong. So if Roarke wants a second chance he’ll have to prove that this holiday is a season of new beginnings, the kind that last forever.
This holiday romance is very emotional but heartwarming and full of Christmas spirit. The characters are strong, compelling and easily draw readers into their story which has a complicated and heartbreaking past. The hero and heroine still has oodles of sizzling chemistry but the relationship has some emotionally turbulent obstacles to overcome and some secrets that have to be revealed which keeps reader glued to the pages of this second chance romance.
The holiday makes reaching for that second chance even more heartwarming and special throughout the steady pace of putting together a Christmas festival and the entire story has lots of holiday spirited events peppered throughout that really warms the heart and makes readers feel happy and good. The author paints such vivid imagery that readers feel as if they are part of the story which makes it easy to become completely captivated by the hero and heroine of this holiday romance.
A sweet small town romance, Tangled Up In Christmas brings more than the heat of Texas in a novel that is full-hearted and centered on second chances.
Roarke Frost needs a second chance in more ways than one. After being blacklisted in Los Angeles solely due to her affiliation with a well-known fashion photographer, Hannah makes her way back home to Texas with the intention of avoiding Roarke–I mean Sweetwater. But of course her new business venture would take her back to the place where her heart was broken and right back to the man who broke it. As a successful veterinarian, Roarke is known as the Horse Wrangler. Good with animals, he’ll have to be even better with Hannah in order to prove to her that second chances are always worth taking. To get to their happily ever after though, Roarke and Hannah will have to trudge up the past, rebuild a friendship, and delve into untold secrets that could quite possibly threaten the very existence of their happy ending.
Though a second chance romance, Tangled Up In Christmas was low in angst; however, this novel definitely was not short in the back and forth as Hannah works through the very reason her heart was broken in the first place and ultimately has some exceptional character growth, surprising me with some of her actions further into the story… And Roarke, oh charming Roarke is not one to cut his loses easily. He’s persistent and patience, two things working with horses has taught him. So he does not back down easily, making the said back and forth Hannah throws readers into rather enjoyable.
Not as suspensful as Lisa Renee Jones other works with intimate scenes a bit more tame, Tangled Up In Christmas is still very much a delightful read with a bonus Christmas story at the end–that’s twice the holiday spice this reading season!
Great second chance story
I generally don’t like second chance romance because I like to read about the couple first meeting and their reactions to one another. What brought them together, do they instantly hate each other or are they attracted to each other, or both? However I decided to read this one because I like Lisa Renee Jones’ writing. She always has both steamy romance and a good storyline to go with it. I wasn’t disappointed here.
This was the story of Hannah and Roarke who were engaged seven years prior until Hannah got an anonymous email showing a fashion model hanging all over Roarke. She couldn’t take the fact that he was cheating, when he meant everything to her and She wouldn’t forgive cheating. So she broke the engagement and moved from Texas to Los Angeles to make something of herself far away from Roarke and the heartache.
Hannah worked with a high fashion photographer and he ended up getting unfairly blacklisted as part of the “Me Too” movement. So Hannah moved back to Texas to start her own event planning business. She rented an office from a friend of hers, Linda a photographer in Dallas and when Linda got injured Hannah offered to take the photography appointment that night.
Hannah goes to an event where she reconnects with an old friend, Jason from the small town where she grew up and Roarke is involved as well. Jason’s fiancé proposes that Hannah do the planning for the event they are launching, which will be awesome for her business, but she will have to spend time with Roarke because he is one of the facilitators of the event.
Hannah and Roarke haven’t gotten over each other and they go from estranged to entangled in no time. The romance is hot, Roarke is a great guy and a hot Horse Wrangler and Veterinarian. He is a great book boyfriend. There is a mystery as to what happened between him and that model 7 years ago. The book was very good and it had animals, rockin’ grandmas and nice feeling of small town Texas.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“I lost him before I lost him, or what went down would not have gone down.”
I’m so addicted to this new Texas Heat series. I’d say it’s up there at the very top of my favorites from this author. Yes, I’m from Texas, but that’s not why. There are lots of reasons, including the amazing cast of characters in Sweetwater, Texas. And they aren’t just cowboys either. Nope, we got pro baseball players, horse wranglers, yoga enthusiasts, and cookie-baking grandmas.
I am enjoying the hell out of the mishaps and misadventures these fun ladies fall into. The witty banter and drunk adventures are noteworthy as well. And don’t get me started on the sexy cowboys who know how to handle a horse and a woman. “He’s not a man who demands unless we’re naked, and that’s a different ball game. That’s the balance that is this man. He’s an alpha. He’s in control, and yet, he makes me feel like I’m in control. He makes the animals he works with feel they’re in control when it’s him with the control.”
But it’s not all fun. There are secrets and sorrow hidden behind their smiles. It’s obvious to everyone that they still have feelings for each other. It drove me crazy trying to figure out what went wrong and how it could be fixed. I wanted Grandma to bake up some magic cookies that would make everything okay. But, “Sometimes love isn’t enough.”
Trust me, you will be planning a visit to Sweetwater to attend the Christmas Festival once you get a gander at the eye-candy. I’m already saving up in case there’s a bachelor auction. It’s for a good cause, right? The line forms here…

We all remember Roarke from the first book. He’s Jason’s best friend.
Hannah also used to be friends with those two guys. And she was so much more to Roarke. But then after that summer six years ago, Hannah left town with a broken heart.
But now she lost her job in Los Angeles and she’s back home with an event-planning business.
And Roarke is still just as attracted to her. He never stopped loving her.
But what happened six years ago – why did he let her go???
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT
Adorable!
A really sweet Texas & horses & cookies & second chances romance!
With lots of funny and adorable moments.
Holiday moments. Fighting moments. Arguing moments. Lots of sparky moments! Some heartbreaking & frustrating moments.
I really enjoyed reading it.
It was also another Lisa Renee Jones book – so it was just too long for me somehow. We could’ve cut a few pages and a few too complicated sentences. The writing was too weird and complicated here and there. It felt like Lisa tried too hard to sound different. I had to put it on hold for a couple of days and read two other review books first. Ones which moved through my brain much more easily. No idea why Lisa’s words are too un-flow-y for my mind – maybe I just had an off day for that kind of writing. But I came back – and I really like the story now that I’m done with it. That sounds weird and a bit unkind. But it’s a really cute second-chance love story!
I loved seeing Jason and Jessica from the first book again – and the grandmas!
I missed the Christmas from the title a bit. We don’t really have Christmas is the book. There is some holiday stuff because they’re planning that charity event, but that’s it.
And for all her being mad at him and her resisting, it took her only such a short time in the end to forgive and forget and move right into his house. Which was so weird – she could’ve just stayed six years ago. What a waste of time! BUT – she was too young back then – she had a bit of life to live first. And Roarke was mature for both of them. He was really so very adorable! But he should’ve told her the truth a long time ago. But…. it was all okay the way it was. I liked reading the book. It was cute.
TANGLED UP IN CHRISTMAS was an adorable Texas-Horses-Second-Chance Love Story!
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Roarke – this one is MINE!
All the feels and so much more are in this one. Even if you didn’t read the first Texas Heat book you will not be lost with this one and I recommend you read it NOW! Hannah has returned to Texas and immediately upon arrival at the airport she runs into her ex-fiance. Roarke. Not long after, Hannah fills in for her friend at a photo shoot and runs into him again along with Jason (from book 1) and Jessica who hire her for event planning the Christmas Festival in Sweetwater. Oh, to go back home where it all began and all fell apart. So many tangled lies woven to separate them but Roarke still loves Hannah and Hannah never stopped loving Roarke even though she was hurt and ran. Now after a hot night before returning home, can they find their way back to each other without hurting each more? So, so good! This one can be read as a standalone but I really recommend both books!
“Tangled Up In Christmas” by Lisa Renee Jones
A stand-alone ‘page-turner’ contemporary romance in the Texas Heat Series. I was gifted an ARC by the publisher with the request of an honest review in return. This is a good story, and it does have some heat to it so be prepared. Read the description to get a feel of why I really liked the story. Beside the fact, that it was nice to visit Sweetwater once again. If you liked ‘The Truth About Cowboys’ I am very sure you will like this story also. Happy Reading ! !
Sweet Second Change Romance with Blazing Chemistry! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Roarke and Hannah light up when they are near each other, it’s something special. Roarke only wants to protect Hannah’s Happiness, but when he thinks the only way to get her back is to tell her in a certain way… He finds that this girl is all in for him!
I really loved this Christmas Romance! 5 Stars!!!
Hang onto your panties ladies and enjoy Roarke. He will just make you fan yourself with all his hottness. You’ll adore Hannah too. I love this second chance romance so much. Once you get further into the truth behind Roarke’s and Hannah’s breakup you really feel for how hard it was for Roarke to know the real truth behind everything. I love that we get all our favorite Sweetwater folks returning in this one. Hannah and Roarke just sizzle and you can feel the love still between them. If Tangled Up In Christmas doesn’t give you that holiday cheer then I don’t know what will. You need to read this and fall in love with Roarke and Hannah.
5 Star Review of Tangled Up In Christmas (Texas Heat #2) by Lisa Renee Jones
Lisa Renee Jones’ writing is so descriptive that I found myself transported to Sweetwater, Texas. Tangled Up In Christmas is a second chance at love story that will draw you in and have you invested from the first chapter.
There was something about Roarke Frost that drew me in almost as much as it did our heroine Hannah. Even though she knows he is not right for her, after all she believes he cheated on her when they were engaged, when Hannah returns to town she cannot help but get involved with him again.
The chemistry is just as intense as it always has been. This was a passionate, heartwarming and fun book, full of laughter, a little drama and was one of those books I didn’t want to put down. The writing was strong and the characters had a great deal of depth to them and made them easy to relate and like.
Can Roarke and Hannah finally get the happily ever after they deserve or will her family pull them apart again?
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley
What talent this author has! She writes romance in the suspense genre extremely well and this series, while not intense, is just as entertaining and thrilling! The thrill is from the joy you can feel for and from the characters. Second chance romance at its best with the hunky guy leading the way! I love this series as I love all of the stories from Lisa Renee Jones!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.
This is the second book in the Texas Heat Series. I thought it was really good read. I truly enjoyed the characters Roarke and Hannah. It is well written and a good storyline. It easy to read and the characters have chemistry..
I read and reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own. Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for letting me read this story.
For a long time Roarke Frost was just the hunky cowboy that lived next door, the one who never really noticed her the way she wanted him to… until the summer he did, then she wished he hadn’t. They burned hot, had instant chemistry, and bonded easily, then she realized they might not have been on the same page after all, and she knew for the sanctity of her heart that it was best if she walk away.
So she followed her dreams to the big city, and never had plans on looking back, then with the implosion of her bosses career, she lost hers too. With little money, desperation at an all time high, and a dream to realize, she decides to go back to the one place she thought she’d never set foot it again… Sweetwater, the place where she lost her heart, and a lot closer to the man that took it!
Tangled Up in Christmas is a sultry little page-turner that unites lost loves Hannah and Roarke, theirs’ is a story of healing, forgiveness, and rekindling love. The moment my eyes hit the synopsis of this one I was intrigued, the mere mention of a sexy cowboy trying to work his way back into the good graces of the woman he wronged I just knew it was going to be a good one… and boy was I right! The words pulled me in instantly and had me wrapped up in feels and drama… these two had a lot of things to sort out! This one was a game of cat and mouse, Hannah trying to keep her distance, and try to resist falling into old habits, and Roarke constantly finding reasons to pop into her life and convince her to try again, it was all kinds of angsty! I loved this newest installment in the series, it pages brought steamy moments to swoon over, feisty moments to inspire smiles, and drama that kept my eyes glued to the pages… it was a perfect literary escape! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Tangled Up in Christmas is a sweet and sexy second chance romance. Roarke and Hannah were best friends as they grew up together and then more before it fell apart. Roarke continued to build his reputation both as a vet and as a YouTube sensation for his work with horses. Hannah is a talented photographer and just moved back home. Running into each other again years later is both a shock and unexpected, yet both felt the connection immediately. Working together on a Christmas festival for their hometown gives Roarke the opportunity he needs to show Hannah they deserve a second chance. Lisa Renee Jones brings the heat along with secrets, conflict, animals, and enduring friendships to this holiday romance.
Fun, sweet, second chance at love. Lana~ White Hot Reads
Roarke and Hannah have history and when Hannah comes back to their small town of Sweetwater, Roarke is ready to make her his again. He does everything that he can to make her see that she does belong in Sweetwater and with him. Secrets are explosed and truths learned but all in all they get through it.
A second chance love story about forgiveness, family, and little dash of the holiday spirit.
Tangled up in the past. Tangled up in the present. Tangled up in their jobs, family, friends, etc…. Roarke and Hannah are simply put just tangled.
How do you separate your feelings from the now and then when you’ve never had closure? Especially when you aren’t able to tell the one you love the whole truth as to why you let them walk out of your life?
How do you separate your feelings when you still love the person you left, but also hate the person standing in front of you at the same time?
Tangled is such a good way to describe the way Roarke and Hannah’s lives have become. Untangling their lives from one another isn’t easy. There isn’t just the two of them involved, it’s basically the entire town of Sweetwater when it comes down to it. The good news is the longer they are back in each other’s presence they aren’t exactly sure they want to untangle their tangled up life.
If you’ve read Jason and Jessica’s story, you’ll get to see a lot of them, as Jason is Roarke’s best friend and Hannah grew up with his family too. If you didn’t read the first book, you’ll have no trouble jumping into this second one, they are independent stories from each other. There is also breadcrumbs into who our next bachelor of Sweetwater could possibly be. I’m excited to return and see this growing family.
An entertaining, fun read. This is a follow up to the “Truth About Cowboys” book. Enjoy this horse whisperer story wound around Roarke and Hannah, a couple with a past. There is drama, misunderstandings, romance, stirred together with family lies and the requisite HEA. Also included in this book is the novella “Santa Baby”, another good read. Add this to your TBR list.
I need a Roarke in my life!! Lisa writes another steamy story of redemptive love. Hannah is forced to move home to Sweetwater after things with south with her photography job. The one person she doesn’t want to see is the one person her heart has never let go of, the Horse Wrangler, Roarke Frost. She left Sweetwater to get away from this man when he crushed her heart. Now she is face to face with him and has to calm the heart that’s about to beat out of her chest. All he sees is the woman he loved then and still loves. Now that she’s back he has to make her see that. Can they both put a harsh and secretive past aside to make a new relationship work? Is there just too much to get past?
Lisa once again weaves a story that leaves you cheering for the characters she makes you fall in love with even though at times you want to shake them. This a the perfect Christmas romance.
What a delicious, angsty, 2nd chance romance for Hannah and Roark. I loved everything about this book and all of the emotions it brought…anger, sadness, heart ache, explosive chemistry, a love that could not be denied and the truth for all of that pain. Lisa Renee Jones books always gets me right in the heart!!
This is a contemporary romance from Lisa Renee Jones. This is not her usual fare as it is romance with no suspense. I love that Lisa is versatile and can write other genres. We met Roarke in the first book as Jason’s friend. Hannah is a long lost love that you wonder for most of the book what happened to these two to break them up. While this book is not quite as funny as the first one, it is a second chance romance with no angst. There’s a bonus story (nothing to do with this series) that’s included. I enjoyed reading this and I hope there’s more in this series. I received an advance copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
