I might be a country girl from the same small town of Sweetwater, Texas, as horse wrangler Roarke Frost, the girl next door who knows him like few know him, but I didn’t know enough to save my heart. He’s the reason why I left Sweetwater behind. But now fate proves she loves a wicked twist and sends me back to Sweetwater to pull together a Christmas festival–and I run smack into the man again, … the man again, quite literally. His body is pressed to mine, his hands on my arms, and I’m melting like chocolate in the sizzling Texas sunshine. And I run.
I know it’s not exactly respectable, but it works, just not for long. No matter how much I try to get tangled up in Christmas, I end up tangled up in Roarke instead–and the man has me feeling the heat of our attraction and the warmth of our past friendship. He feels like Mr. Right, but history says he’s Mr. Wrong.
But if he wants a second chance, Roarke Frost is going to have to work for it. He’ll need to prove to me that this holiday is a season of new beginnings, the kind that last forever.
Each book in the Texas Heat series is STANDALONE:

On the one hand I’m ashamed to admit that this is my first book by Lisa Renee Jones; while on the other hand, happy to admit that it won’t be my last. I absolutely adore cowboy romance books but admittedly am not a big fan of second chance one’s, however, this book has changed that. I absolutely love Roarke, a sexy as sin veterinarian, dubbed the Horse Wrangler. In my (dirty) mind his Wranglers are painted on to the perfect backside of this cowboy . Hannah is sweet, sexy and a little bit lost. Having left her hometown of Sweetwater for LA after their tragic breakup she is forced to return when things don’t work out for her there. Roarke and Hannah are forced to work together on a special project forcing them to face the past and their destroyed engagement. I absolutely loved Roarke’s handling of Hannah and the single minded intensity with which he pursues her. Theirs is an incredible love story, the kind that deserves a do-over and the kind that deserves only the sweetest happily ever after. Such a wonderful book and just in time for the holiday season. Get tangled up in this book. You won’t regret it. (I received an ARC from Netgalley and voluntarily left a review).
What do you expect with a story based in Sweetwater, Texas? You guessed it a sweet and heartwarming tale filled with instant love and re-connection. When Hannah comes back home, she knew she would have to deal with her ex – Roarke – who is a horse wrangler and heart throb. Taking on the preparation and marketing for the Christmas Festival brings them closer and closer. But can the past be re-written? Can you really come home and find true love? With beautifully written characters and a storyline that was enjoyable to read this was a great holiday story.
Six years is a long time to not come back home. What are the odds on Hannah’s very first trip back she runs into Roarke in the airport and the men’s room to boot. (There’s a story there lol) These two were still in love with each other. He was going to fight for her and not let go but how was he going to tell her the secrets of the past that weren’t his? What if they pushed her further away?
I loved this second chance romance, loved that Roarke was such a kind, generous, loving man but alpha in the bedroom. Hannah used to idolize and love him but they’ve both grown and matured. They’re working on the festival and working on their relationship. The love that these two feel just leaps off of the pages at you. While reading I could perfectly picture Sweetwater Texas!
Will Hannah be able to put the past in the past, will she be able to let it go? You need to read this book!!! Loved seeing Jason, Jessica and the grandma’s and everyone from the first book!
4.5 Stars
Roarke and Hannah had their lives planned out and then it all came crashing down around them, now they are getting a second chance at what should have been. I was beyond intrigued by Roarke while reading The Truth About Cowboys. Jason’s sexy best friend definitely caught my eye and I was excited that he was getting his own book.
I loved this book and Roarke and Hannah’s story. Heartbreak, betrayal, love, and passion. Tangled Up in Christmas was packed full of emotion and an engaging story that I was completely wrapped up in. I am loving this series and hope Jones has plans for more!
A second chance romance with a little Christmas flair.
Roarke and Hannah grew up together and eventually formed a relationship, until one day everything changed and Hannah left. Years later she is back in Texas and back in the town she grew up in.
I fell in love with Roarke when he was first introduced in The Truth About Cowboys and was super excited to find out he was getting his own story. The horse wrangler does not disappoint when it comes to romance and steam! He wants another chance with Hannah and this time he is willing to fight for her and let her know the truth about what really happened the first time around.
Hannah left Sweetwater broken hearted, but she is back and more mature. Of course, the moment she lands in Texas she runs into the last person she wants to see, Roarke. I loved Hannah and Jason’s relationship; she was truly like a baby sister to him. I loved that she instantly become friends with Jessica. Plus, the grandmas. Who doesn’t love them?!
I loved Roarke and Hannah’s relationship. These two had chemistry like there is no tomorrow. I loved how they bonded over their love of helping animals. They work well as a team both with the animals and as a couple. Of course, there are some secrets between them that need to come to light.
If you’re looking for an ultra-steamy, small town, cowboy filled Christmas romance then this is one book you’ll want to read this Holiday Season!
I am usually not a fan of holiday reads. I tend to find them cheesy. I really enjoyed this holiday read, not sure if it was the cowboys or the Texas small town feel. This book in my opinion can be read alone or is even better after reading book 1, The Truth About Cowboys. I liked how the characters blend together to make the story flow nicely. I can’t wait to read future books in this series.
I’m really liking this series, its totally different than what I’m used to from this author, which makes it really interesting and easy to read.
3.75 stars–TANGLED UP IN CHRISTMAS is the second instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult TEXAS HEAT erotic, romance series. This is veterinarian Roarke Frost, and photographer Hannah’s story line. TANGLE UP IN CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduce to Roarke in book one The Truth About Cowboys.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Hannah and Roarke) TANGLED UP IN CHRISTMAS follows the second chance romance and relationship between twenty eight year old photographer Hannah, and thirty four year old veterinarian Roarke Frost. Roarke and Hannah had been best friends all of their lives but seven years earlier betrayal broke Hannah’s heart sending our heroine to Los Angeles, California. Engaged to be married to the man that she loves, Hannah is destroyed when a video surfaces betraying everything she ever loved about Roarke and the small town of Sweetwater, Texas. Fast forward to present day wherein Hannah heads home to Texas in an effort to restart her career, a career destroyed by jealousy and revenge. To Hannah’s surprise and misery, she will come face to face with her past, a past she has never stopped loving but a past she is unable to forgive or forget. Enter veterinarian Roarke Frost. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and romance between Roarke and Hannah, and the potential fall-out when the truth is revealed.
Hannah ran from Sweetwater, Texas in an effort to forget about the man that she loved. Destroyed by betrayal, Hannah struggled to move on with her life, always comparing every man to the one that she lost. Roarke Frost never got the chance to defend himself, and in this, our hero struggled to move on from the past. A successful veterinarian on the horse circuit, Roarke pushed himself in an effort to forget about the woman that ran away.
The relationship between Hannah and Roarke is one of second chances: a rebuilding friendship and romance between two people destroyed by someone else’s vindictiveness, jealousy, greed and anger. The town of Sweetwater, Texas believed that Hannah and Roarke were always meant to be but only a few people knew what happened to destroy their life-long love affair. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Jason and Jessica (The Truth About Cowboys #1); Hannah’s business partner Linda Moore; Roarke’s grandmother Ruth; Jason’s grandmother Martha; Hannah’s parents; Mayor Luke Combs, as well as a number of veterinary interns.
TANGLED UP IN CHRISTMAS is a story of betrayal and vengeance; forgiveness and moving forward; second chances and love. The premise is sexy and inviting; the characters are flirty and sassy; the romance is spicy and seductive. The angst level is low; there is no suspense or threats from an outside source; the conflict resolution is tender and realistic. TANGLED UP IN CHRISTMAS is a delightful addition to the author’s TEXAS HEAT series.
There is also a surprise addition to the ARC-a copy of a previously released holiday novella SANTA BABY by Lisa Renee Jones
Tangled Up In Christmas was one of my favorite holiday romances to read so far. It had 3 of my favorite things: Holiday romance, Texas setting, and Whataburger!!
Lisa Renee Jones wrote a magical second-chance romance about forgiveness, hope, and love. I loved reading about Hannah and Roarke. The author did a great job and giving us insight into their past life together, the time apart, and the present.
Hannah is a photographer who left her small-town to pursue her dreams and escape her past relationship. After years of being away, she comes back to town and sees Roarke, her ex and the man she loved with her whole heart.
Roarke is a Youtube sensation as ‘The Horse Wrangler’ . He is a country boy who is great with animals and saving them. He is still heartbroken over losing the woman he swore he would marry. Fate thinks he deserves a second chance because Hannah walks back into his life. She still takes his breath away and vows to never let her go again.
I thought this was such a hopeful second chance about two people who truly loved each other. These characters were easy to love and root for. I knew me and Hannah would be best friends after she declared her love of Whataburger, a Texas staple!!
Overall, I give Tangled Up In Christmas 5 stars. It was a joy to read and I loved these characters so much. Lisa Renee Jones did a fantastic job of hooking me in and making me fall in love with the story. A perfect read if you love small-towns, second-chances, and charming characters!!Tangled Up in Christmas Lisa Renee Jones
I love a sweet second chance romance and this one is all that and more. There is even a bonus holiday story included which was wonderful. This is quite a diversion from all of the other LRJ books I’ve read but it certainly is a beautiful one. Roarke and Hannah are simply amazing and lovable characters. They were always meant for each other but circumstances and a huge misunderstanding tore them apart for a while but now they have a second chance. I love these characters as well as some of the secondary characters in this wonderfully entertaining love story. Hannah and Roarke have unbelievable chemistry and so much in common. It was a pleasure to see them finally find their HEA. I look forward to more in this series!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
This story is so deeply emotional, but has a second chance romance that resolves around the holidays. Beautifully written. I’m loving this series.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I love Roarke and Hannah. Their love story is sweet, heartwarming, and not the easiest to get to. Betrayal, misunderstandings, and forgiveness all play a huge role. I was fascinated by Roarke in the first book and his story was more than I could have imagined. These characters feel like friends and everyone needs a Martha and Ruth. I particularly enjoyed the catch up with Jessica and Jason. Sweetwater is an endearing setting. The ending is perfect and the added bonus story was a pleasant surprise. I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
It was a page turning book that I could NOT put down!
We are back in Sweetwater, and we know Roarke from the first book, The Truth About Cowboys, and he’s Jason’s best friend.
Hannah used to be friends with both of them, and was also more to Roarke 6 years ago..
she left with a broken heart.
She lived in LA as a Photographer but lost her job and came back to work with her friend.
Roarke is a veterinarian, they call him the Horse Wrangler, and of course, the bump in to each other..
the attraction is still there, and the more time they spend together, the more she’s reminded of their past..
soon she begins to realize that maybe she was a little wrong as her heart begins to thaw toward that handsome cowboy…
This was a perfect read!!
You can’t help but fall in love with each and every one them!
I received this book as an ARC, and it was a page turning book that I could NOT put down!
This book is about Roarke that you meet in the 1st book, and his lost relationship with Hannah. She comes back to her hometown help our her longtime friend put on a winter festival and soon realizes that Roarke is also in charge of putting on this festival. This book keeps you turning the page to find out why their relationship fell apart all those years ago, when they first got engaged and where it’s headed. While there is a little bit of fear of them never finding that happily ever after, you soon realize that Roarke is not going to let Hannah go so easily this time. Great read!
We are back in Sweetwater, TX where everyone knows everyone else, and where Roarke Frost and Hannah grew up. The year she finished college and he veterinarian school, they fell in love and got engaged. But a video went viral implying Roarke had cheated on her . She left for LA hurt and didn’t look back.
But fate brings her back after six years, and the secrets Roarke has kept will need to be revealed, but there will be consequences.
It’s a story about secrets, misunderstandings and second chances.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Entangled. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
With a little bit of angst, some homecoming feels, and a lot of secrets, this was a great second chance story.
Years ago, Roarke broke Hannah’s heart which resulted in the break up of their engagement. Now she’s returned to Texas and is soon thrust back into his world. While she loves all that he does to protect and ensure the safety of the animals he takes under his care, she struggles to keep her distance both physically and emotionally. But Roarke is refusing to let her go again despite the fact that when she learns the truth, he will lose her for good.
’It’s memories and love and passion. It’s everything we were, which was everything.’
I enjoyed watching Hannah come to some realizations regarding her state of maturity from her before time with Roarke to the present. I love when a character is able to decipher their own actions and reactions and the reasoning behind them. And Hannah more than made up for her past reactions when it mattered most.
While we don’t get a lot of Roarke’s point of view, we get enough to know that Hannah is his everything. His life is dedicated to taking care of animals and that character trait also ensures that he takes care of those he loves. Even when doing so goes against what his heart wants.
’He’s an alpha. He’s in control, and yet. He makes me feel like I’m in control.’
While this is low on drama, it is rich in relationship angst. Both Roarke and Hannah have their own struggles and fears to work through. The secrets Roarke is keeping helps to drive the story forward as the time for revealing them draws closer. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure how all of that was going to play out and that amped up the angst a bit more.
This is a great homecoming story with lots of small town, feel good moments and all the warm feelings of being welcomed home again after living for years with a devastating loss. There are plenty of heartwarming moments with Roarke’s horses that will definitely stroke every animal lover’s heart. I did feel the lack of real couple time with these characters and would have liked to see them working their issues out face to face a bit more. But this author excels at character introspection and such is the case here as well.
Included is a great treat, Santa Baby.
With every story that Lisa Renee Jones writes she brings the characters to life with such ease, you can’t help but fall in love with each and every one them!
Hannah and Roake where engaged at one time when everything was a mess between their family but Hannah knew nothing about but thought Roake cheated on her, so she left.
Now she’s back and ready to tackle anything!
Will Hannah and Roake get their happily ever after or will her parents put an end to it before it even begins?
Roarke made quite the impact in The Truth About Cowboys. He was such a good friend to Jason, helping him straighten up before he lost Jessica, and then add in a that he is a veterinarian who loves animals? How could you not love him.
Roarke was everything I thought he would be in this book. I loved his character and I loved how he handled Hannah and the reason they were separated in the first place. All I could think about was Hannah is probably kicking herself for not standing by him. I know I would have been.
We get some back in forth in the beginning of this because Hannah isn’t willing to get past her hurt. Roarke wasn’t willing to give up and made all that back and forth worth every minute. This was a great little holiday read with a beautiful ending. I wouldn’t be opposed to more books in this world. I can name a few cowboys that need a story of their own.
