Codi Rein is a means to an end. A bloody and vengeful penance for wrong doing. She was our way to inflict pain and suffering on those who took away what was most important to us.She was supposed to be a no one. Insignificant. She wasn’t supposed to make me smile. She wasn’t supposed to make me laugh. She sure wasn’t supposed to make me feel anything other than hate. She wasn’t supposed to make me … supposed to make me love her.
She was a means to an end. Now the bloody and vengeful end looks to be mine. Because it now comes down to love or loyalty and it’s on me to decide what reigns absolute; heart or family.

This was a terrific book about the twisted road to love amidst a painful path wrought with betrayal and vengeance. The cover had me expecting a severely dark read, so I was a bit hesitant to read it at a time when so much angst is already happening in our world. However, this storyline was more emotionally intense than dark; thankfully. It didn’t take long for me to become fixated on Parker and Codi.
What’s a man to do when the one he wants to deny with his very soul, is the one that his heart longs for the most? What’s a man to do when he has a debt to collect and focusing in on that is turning him into a monster that would bring his mother shame? Parker is at war with himself and Codi is jeopardizing the mission he has crafted. It should be easy to break her and move on, but Codi is not without her own influence over Parker. Perhaps Parker will be the most surprised of all by the time Codi is through with him. I loved the twists and turns in this story, and the nail biting edge of the plot had me feverishly flipping the pages. If the angst alone doesn’t sink its hooks into you, then the chemistry and passion shared between Codi and Parker is sure to have you captivated by them. Is there anything hotter than two people who try to resist one another, but fail in their efforts? These two had it bad for each other whether they wanted to or not. Yum! The ending was so worth the wait and everything that I could have asked for in Codi and Parker’s story!
I’m so excited to dive into Rocco’s storyline coming up soon with the release of book #2 in the Chaotic Rein series: Reining Devotion. OOH…this is going to be SO GOOD!
5 TANGLED LOVE STARS!! OMG…This book is everything!! Parker and Codi have a story to tell you and you can’t turn the pages fast enough. Their story has all the feels with so much angst, just the way I like it. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites. You definitely need to read this book.
Tangled Love by Haley Jenner is one of those books that you just can’t put down as it is that good. The story centres around Codi and Parker. When Parker was a small boy, he and his older brother Rocco overhear their Uncle discussing who is responsible for their mother’s death…Dominic Rein. From here on out, the brothers are planning revenge and they are going to take it out on Dominic’s daughter, Codi.
Codi is the quintessential good girl, she has a job that she likes, is sweet and an innocent. She is pursued by Parker quite fiercely and they seem to have a good relationship with a lot of banter back and forth, unbeknownst to Codi that Parker has this need for revenge which is driven hard by his brother.
The story certainly focuses on whose side Parker is one. On one side, he has this amazing girl who he is falling for but he is also pushed by family loyalty. Throughout the book you feel the angst and mental issues that comes with holding those responsibilities. He is definitely hot and cold when it comes to Codi and there are times when he just leaves her hanging and she is pushed out into the cold.
I really enjoyed Codi as a character as she is quirky, has to deal with Parker’s mixed messages whilst falling in love with him and balancing this adult relationship which is new to her with revelations that kind of blow her out of the water. There is definitely a lot of twist and turns in this book and a lot of revelations on what did happen to the boy’s mother and although it was a quick and unusual ending, it did seem to work for the book. The dynamics of family play an important role in this book and without both Parker’s brother and Codi’s sister, I don’t think we would have felt the angst, emotions or betrayal that either Parker or Codi felt if they hadn’t of made an appearance.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the story as a whole. The characters were wonderful and there was certainly enough drama and intrigue to keep you turning the pages. Hopefully Rocco’s story will come out soon so I can know what happens to him.
Tangled Love is so different than the other Haley Jenner books I’ve read, yet it still has that incredible pull with deep dynamic characters and an enthralling story. These authors have proven that they can write anything!
Parker Parker Parker. He (and his brother!) BREAKS MY HEART! The lasting pain of losing their mother so young, and in such a horrific way, and the dark vengeful rage that comes from his own father destroys his sense of good in the world. I love his loyalty to his even more broken brother so much, but his agonizing struggle to put aside revenge and do what’s right is gripping. Parker fights his demons daily, and Codi entering his life only amplifies that. She’s supposed to be nothing but a job but immediately he senses that she is much more. Codi is the perfect counterpoint to Parker. She’s sweet and innocent in all ways, though she still has a feistiness to her that ignites when they are together. Her love and protection towards her sister and father are also truly touching, and it gives her an understanding of Parker’s stern loyalty.
Their story is anything but safe. It reigns in deceit, hate, revenge, blood, and lust. It’s chaotic. It’s perfect and I am 100% on board. 5 stars for Tangled Love. Bring on more dark and dangerous Haley Jenner!
Parker and Rocco are 2 brothers who were raised by a mother that loved showed them how to love… but then the darker side of life gets them.
Enter Codi, a happy woman just doing her thing. Does that mean the dark side of life hasn’t gotten to her, or maybe her light got to it.
This book was a roller coaster of dark and light, love and hate. Tangled love gave me a bit of a hangover, in the best way! Haley Jenner wrote a book I’ll never forget, and I will be reading again regardless of that. Plus omg yummy hot-book-boyfriend!
Even though this might be a darker story it’s still a romance and a HEA… for some
Tangled Love is only the second book I’ve read by this amazing duo of authors, and it once again makes me wonder how I’ve missed knowing about their awesomeness!
Parker and Rocco, brothers out for misguided vengeance set their sights on the beautiful daughter of their enemy. Parker’s role is to watch and learn her routine, to take her out and to cause the man responsible for the hurt and loss the brothers have suffered. One look and he knows he will never be the same, one taste and his heart is lost. Guilt, turmoil and the family obligation to his brother has Parker fighting internally for what’s right, what his heart tells him. But which ever way he chooses he knows he looses.
Codi is beautiful, loving, and good. She knows her father is a criminal but he’s made sure that his life doesn’t affect his daughters. She is speechless when Parker forced his way into her life, never knowing the back game behind his eyes that show his internal turmoil. Their relationship is fast, forceful, and a lie. When it blows up it leaves them both broken and gutted.
Amazingly tangled deceit shreds every page of this book leaving the reader as broken as the characters. H & J know how to weave every drop of emotion out of their reader and then some. Once again I’m left wanting more from this dynamic duo.
I always enjoy mafia family related stories and this one is terrific and so entertaining. The love and hate equation is thoroughly explored and done so well.
Parker Shay is supposed to set up Codi Rein so he can take the ultimate revenge on her father for destroying his family. Such a hard thing to do when you find you genuinely enjoy the company of the person you’re meant to kill!
I found myself trying to think of ways out for Parker all the way through however was so worried as it seemed impossible. These two authors have the uncanny knack of writing what appears to be problematic situations without a happy solution yet they are extremely clever as they weave their magic and produce quality scenes full of drama and action.
The humour sprinkled throughout this book is fantastic and balances the darker theme of vengeance so well. However there were moments when my heart also just about shattered with the desolation it felt for the characters, especially Parker.
I totally recommend this amazing book to everyone, it is beyond sensational.
4.5 Stars. I have a rule that if I can’t put a book down, it’s a 5 star read. I like dark books, I like where the MC might want to kill the love interest. Don’t judge me. Parker did have some good in him and it shone through so bright every time Codi was near. She was the beacon in his dark world. I loved their connection and their love. I need Rocco’s story immediately now though. Dark broken boys? I’m in.
Seriously from word 1 in this book I could not get enough. By the middle of this book I was so invested I slowed my reading down as I didn’t want it to end. This epic story will pull at your heart strings and have you second guessing everything.
Captivating! I was entranced and kept turning page after page of this twisted, tragic, angsty story. The characters were charismatic, easy to love, cheeky and hid below the surface. Parker and Rocco Shay are complicated and you need to get to know them to see who they really are. Tangled Love was unique, with raw, heartfelt emotions bleeding onto the pages.
Two young boys, standing by her graveside, watching the coffin being lowered into the cold, dark earth. Not a tear shed at the insistence of those who supposedly love them. Their Aunt Mira is the only light in their dark lives. Someone has to pay for this heinous act, the police can’t find any evidence but we know they are on his payroll. Together Rocco and Parker Shay put their plans for Vengeance in motion. Parker is collecting intel, the target is Codi Rein, when he makes contact she smiles a him. Random fact: That moment is a game changer. Parker hardens his heart and commits to their plan but he’s not quite ready to commit the crime just yet. Random Question: Will he ever be?
This was a story of hate and revenge but also love and revelations. There were a lot of contradictions in this book that took away from what could have been an even better story. I hated that Codi was a pawn in Rocco and Parker’s quest for vengeance, and I never felt like they ever really sought forgiveness. There were so many secrets at play, and I couldn’t reconcile the Rocco who was an a$$ for most of the book with the Rocco we know at the end. Parker blew hot and cold so much I had a difficult time trying to figure out who the real person was behind that deceitful facade. In the end, who was fighting for whom, really? But there were also some great moments in this book, including the random fun facts and the comedic bits that made me laugh. I think in the end I couldn’t tell if this was supposed to be a darker read or an angsty romance, but I enjoyed finding out how it all ended.
This was a perfect title for this wonderful emotionally charged book. Every family has their story; each comes with its own love and hate. This is one of two broken boys hardened by their volatile father and then the uncle, the devil himself, into strong vengeful men on a mission to destroy the man who took the beauty in their world from them. Heartbreaking visions of them at their mother’s funeral had me tearing up from the start.
Parker Shay and his older brother Rocco bonded by loss and loyalty to each other had a plan to destroy this man, torture him with the heartache that was bestowed onto them. Codi Rein was their target.
The Shay and the Rein families had a history that Codi knew nothing of; she was pure joy and untouched by the evil in the world. Her only worry was her older sister Camryn whom she was devoted too. Camryn wasn’t so naïve, she had her own personal drama, and she was broken. These two daughters were Dominic Reins lifeline.
Parker, the ultimate inked and fit stunner, seeks out Codi and this twisted but beautiful story begins. Codi is a cute, young and vibrant woman and Parker is captivated by her charisma. He decides to go in a different direction and have some fun before she meets her fate. Codi was pure delight and everything she did drew Parker in. The chemistry was there, Codi was drawn to him, besides being downright hot, he was different, she could tell there was something dark and that he had secrets, but she didn’t see the monster he warned her that he was. This relationship is built up to some off the charts HAF steamy scenes. Parker lets his guard down when he is with her and they fall hard for each other. Torn between the revenge for the death of his mother; loyalty he has for his brother, and his love for Codi, Parker has a problem. Rocco is coming for Codi.
This book is full of raw emotion. You get to delve deeper into the families and the relationships of the parents. There are secrets from the past that blow you out of the water. There is so much more loss and heart wrenching tears. I love this book it flowed beautifully the characters are so well written you feel you know each one personally the vision unfolding before your eyes.
I really loved the relationship between the siblings, their love for their younger brother or sister so strong. Rocco and Camryn are both very special people. I’d really love to hear Camryn’s story. I wonder what happened in her past to bring her those demons.

First book by Haley Jenner and won’t be the last! Wow… they can throw a story at you that will cut you deep… make you grieve like you are part of the story and thankfully put you back together for a HEA!! My heart is all over the place for Codi, Parker, Dominic, Camryn and Rocco. You just get sucked into the characters and build feelings for them … invested! I can’t wait for book 2 now. Hoping we find out what happened to Camryn and maybe Camryn and Rocco will get together.
Thanks for the amazing book Haley Jenner!!
I just loved this story of Parker and Codi, along with Rocco (Parker’s brother). Soo good, Haley Jenner have done it again. Every book they have written has been amazing.
Tangled indeed. This will tug at your heart strings. Brother’s love for their mother, murdered when they were young boys. They seek revenge for the ones responsible and plan to take out a loved one. Parker was only suppose to do recon, know her whereabouts, it wasn’t suppose to be more than that. I loved everything about this book, I particularly devoured it like I seem to be doing with all their books. Codi is so adorable. She had a few moments they were highly amusing I seriously laughed at loud and thought (much like Parker) they did not happen did it.
I love them together, she’s his beautiful light someone he needs in his life. As usually things are not pretty but end up beautiful. Can’t wait for Ryn and Rocco story
Random Fact: I LOVED this story.
Codi Rein is a pawn in a dark and dangerous game of vengeance. Two brothers who have lost love and light, and know nothing but darkness seek retribution. When the light shines and graces the darkness with its warmth, it fractures that blackness creating crevices within that which was thought to be solid. Just like that darkness, Parker and Rocco’s brotherly alliance becomes threatened when a personal connection develops, and Codi is that shining brightness illuminating the wrongful retribution and cracking their solidarity.
The plot was thought provoking and full of excitement, finely balancing the advancement of the characters. Both are amply developed where lots happens to the fully-written and evolving characters. It may have been a little more ponderous than I like at the beginning, but it makes up for it towards the end.The climax is dramatic and electrifying leaving devastation and despair in its wake. Overall the story is a commendable read and has the finesse to evoke emotions from the reader.
Random Fact: I give Tangled Love 4.5* stars!!
Oh, this book it has broken me down to the core then put the shattered pieces of me back together all in the name of fiction.
Tangled love By Haley Jenner is a masterpiece of intensity and feeling.
Leaving me ultimately bereft, so deep did this burrow down into the marrows of my very soul.
The tangled threads of Codi and Parkers love along with the betrayal of everything that Codi imagined mattered to her leaves her a broken shell of a woman.
Parker broke Codi.
But in doing so he also broke himself hindsight is a total bummer and misery loves company.
In seeking revenge or vengeance in the name of a mother who would have been devastated and ashamed at the men her sons had become, these boys are reaching new lows.
Her boys evolving into Monsters, all in her name.
Heartbreaking, and the last thing this mother would have ever wanted.
Parker and Rocco have eventually become everything they once despised and looked down on.
The father’s sins have ultimately become the sons bringing this whole sorry saga full circle in a macabre dance where the innocent is always the loser and blood is the currency.
So watching the pile of cards come tumbling down around Parker’s ears was a kind of karmic justice.
The struggle he faced pulled between his brother Rocco and his love for a woman he knows does not deserve his hate and wrath was as sweet as it was painful.
And when this whole sorry mess eventually implodes in a dramatic take no prisoners fashion, It was kind of therapeutic to behold the suffering Parker had brought on himself through his own twisted actions.
I was such a proud mama bear watching the way Codi handled herself in the moment and also in the eventual aftermath.
She was strong and courageous such a fighter.
But what was saddest was watching her eyes opened to the cruel world around her.
She had had her naivety and rose coloured specs ripped from her eyes.
And for a while, I wondered how she would fare.
She had gifted her heart away and now was dealing with the fallout of that duplicity.
You expect the person that claims to love you to want to protect that organ with every breath in there body not rob you of your last.
Loved the ending especially that the author didn’t gloss over the betrayal suffered here.
It wasn’t rushed and played out exactly how it should.
As she can see from the above ramblings this story had such a profound effect on me.
It was so very well written and such an incredibly emotive tale that I could not give it less than its deserved full five stars.
There was so much going on here and even when I wanted to hate certain individuals I couldn’t help but also relate.
Haley Jenner has done a great job of humanising what should have been unredeemable.
So bravo lady.
This story has imprinted on me and it will be one I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to forget.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Tangled Love” (Chaotic Rein, #1) of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I one hundred percent absolutely love love loved this book. I recently found Haley Jenner with her Leaves of a Maple series and fell in love with her writing.
This new series of hers is bound to be a hit. I wish more people knew of Haley Jenner, because I feel that she has a real gift for writing. I love reading every word that she writes because I can tell that she puts everything into her stories.
I have fallen in love with the Shay brothers. Rocco is brash, angry, and dark, and Parker is everything that Rocco is, but with a little bit of light mixed in.
They never meant for their plan to take the turn that it did. Parker never meant to fall in love with the daughter of the man who killed his mother. Parker knows that his relationship with Codi Rein has an expiration date, and he’s not ready to let go.
There’s a twist about 70% of the way through, which I kind of saw coming, but only because it was foreshadowed earlier in the story. Didn’t make that scene any less suspenseful, though.
The sex is hot. Smoking hot. Codi and Parker are explosive together and it makes me squeeze my thighs together.
I highly recommend this angsty romance about two troubled brothers looking to avenge their mother. This story is about more than revenge, more than the darkness consuming the two brothers. This story is about falling in love when you’re not looking for it and doing everything in your power to keep that person safe, even if you know that things aren’t going to end well.
Read. This. Book. It’s one of my top favorites and if Haley Jenner didn’t live in Australia, I would one hundred percent buy a signed paperback of not only this book, but her Leaves of a Maple series. I am blown away by this girl and her ability to write. This is one of my favorites for the year, without a doubt.
“Good god, the man is menace personified. Storming eyes, inked skin, and ripped muscles.”
At first, I was pulled in by the tragedy and dark undertones, then it swiftly became (at least on the surface) a sweeter fall by a bad boy. Parker’s war within himself between that fall and the need for revenge was purely intoxicating. I inhaled the story and loved it!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

The onset of a bright light on a dark soul out for revenge causes an attraction to that source of light. But that dark soul on the bright background also attracts the innocent to the flame.
All Parker and Rocco Shay have wanted for 18 years is revenge on the man, Dominic Rein, they thought killed their mother – the only good thing they had in their life. Their crime family father became a monster after her death. And once he was taken out their Uncle became the beast that feed their anger to seek revenge. Rocco’s soul is much darker than Parker’s but its Parker who is tasked with the follow through of killing what would hurt Dominic most – his daughter Codi. During the courtship he wavers many times on that what they are doing is wrong but Rocco who is fueled with rage doesn’t let him get off track.
Codi Rein is the only purely innocent soul in this book. Naive to the evil that’s always surrounded her she doesn’t see Parker’s true intentions in his romantic pursuit of her. She has a sister who she lives with but something dark touched Camryn’s life years ago which stained her soul.
The final confrontation between both families is full of shocking truths of lies and betrayals and the most innocent – Codi – is the one hurt the most by the truths revealed.
This was a dark and twisted tale but Parker and Codi were not the darkest of all the characters. The next book with Rocco’s story should be quite the story as he has lived his life not only fueled with rage but unhinged..
