Sparks fly between a die-hard romantic and a sexy cynic in this fresh, funny romance from USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke. That cream-filled, caramel-topped doughnut should have been hers. Still, Haley Raynor can’t deny that the pastry thief with the dreamy blue eyes looks even more delicious. But moving in on a handsome devil like Trevor Kelly is bad news for a die-hard romantic like … die-hard romantic like Haley. Trevor doesn’t believe in love. She does. Giving in to a fling and Trevor’s irresistible charms can’t end well. Can it? What can it hurt to give it a shot?
Girls always fall for Trevor, and in the end, he always ends up looking like a bad-boy cad. Still, spending some time with Haley and her smart-talking, kissable mouth sounds pretty perfect. Besides, he’s only going to be in Dogwood Lane for one week. How much trouble could they possibly get into?
The only answer? A “no falling in love” contract. All Trevor and Haley have to do is follow the rules and resist the attraction sizzling between them…before their hearts get completely tangled up in temptation.

This was my first full novel by Adriana Locke after reading a short story and a novella. This books is the first in her Dogwood Lane series. It is well-written and was able to build the characters and town in a realistic way.
Though second chance romance is not my favorite trope, I found self feeling bad for the teenage decisions that made their break up occur ten years prior to the book setting. The pain caused to both Dane and Neely by the end of their relationship is palpable and their emotions are so raw. The struggle to understand and forgive are realistic, as is the comfort they have with each other because of the good history they share. Dane’s daughter Mia is delightful, and many other secondary characters are introduced and developed.
I really enjoyed the way this book was so incredibly heartfelt and I recommend it.
I enjoyed this book much more than Tumble. I thought I wasn’t going to like it, but it had that feel that I love when reading Adriana Locke books. There was something that was just so adorable about Trevor and Haley. Everything was sweet and fun with them. Haley is the character that you can’t help being friends with and I loved her hopeless romantic personality. I liked that she was the type to fall hard. Trevor on the other hand was hot. There are times when you want to smack him upside his head and make him profess his love for Haley. I loved seeing how great he treated Haley, despite not believing in relationships. No matter, I adored them together and loved how perfect they were for each other.
I really enjoyed my trip back to Dogwood Lane. Dane’s (from Tumble) cousin Haley is the focus of this story. She has taken a hiatus from dating because most of the men she dates end up being jerks, but she just falls for them anyway. Trevor is only in town for a hot minute because well, he’s a city boy. Both Trevor and Haley are about to go on a long journey in a short period of time to learn that love CAN exist and it doesn’t have to be a painful experience. Their banter is what held me tight to the story because I totally enjoyed the quick wit between the two of them. I also enjoyed some of the eye opening conversations and experiences they both are faced with.
Loved this one! I am all in on this series! This is a new to me author with this series and now I am hooked and going to have to go back and see what else she has done. This small town has it going on. Haley is a spunky and sassy woman who just does not have any luck when it comes to men and now is on a self-imposed hiatus when it comes to men but not donuts and she wants that last donut but someone has already ordered it. Too bad it is the gorgeous stranger who sits down next to her who is smooth talking and pushes all her buttons. Trevor Kelly has been burned and does not believe love has any place in his life and after a contract written out on a napkin these two agree to not become involved or fall in love but the heart wants what the heart wants. Oh, another one has fallen in Dogwood Lane and it was spectacular!
Haley Raynor is on a self-imposed “man break” for another 4 months. No more dating the wrong guy for her. Then she met Trevor Kelly ~ a handsome, quick-witted, blue eyed thief who took the last cream-filled, caramel-topped donut at the Dogwood Café from right under her nose. Haley had already survived the first 8 weeks of this break. But it would be so easy to fall for a guy like Trevor.
Trevor came to town to oversee the last round of renovations on his father and his father’s new wife’s home. What he didn’t expect from this trip was to meet someone like Haley ~ gorgeous, funny, and sarcastic. Trevor’s issue is that women always got too clingy and he didn’t like that. The problem is that he’s attracted to Haley and Haley’s attracted to him. So they create a contract to not fall for each other with a set of rules to follow. Rules are made to be broken, right?
For a delicious Small Town Romance that is packed with sizzling heat, smart comebacks and a couple of broken hearts along the way, this is the book for you!
***4 Stars***
This was a fun little read that had me laughing, rolling my eyes and swooning the entire time ~ and not always separately, sometimes it was a combo of them and a few times all of them at once, which was quite an accomplishment, but regardless, Haley and Trevor’s journey had me turning the pages to see what would happen next and wanting more when everything was said and done.
I loved Haley. She’s sweet, sassy and is simply a good person. She is comfortable in her own skin ~ even when she thinks she isn’t ~ and I really enjoyed watching her figure out what she truly wanted for her future. Trevor I really liked, but the man definitely tried me. He is charming. The man could charm the pants off of anyone, but he so set on maintaining his fatalistic view on love and relationships that he is own worst enemy.
Their journey to their HEA was a lot of fun, even when it was frustrating, it was fun. They had that spark from their first collision and it was so easy to see that they could be so much more, if they just let go. Unfortunately, their different takes on love and relationships takes it toll ~ something that was not a surprise ~ and I was totally #TeamHaley, but I cannot deny that the “grovelling” was done quite well and I like how things worked out for them in the end.
This was a fun read, even the parts that frustrated me were fun and I really enjoyed getting to spend time in Dogwood Lane. Catching up with Dane, Neely and Mia was a lot of fun. Lorene was awesome and I do hope to spend a little more time with Meredith. I’m crossing my toes that Claire and Jake get their own HEA’s down the road, but after getting to know Penn a little better I am definitely looking forward to seeing him fall!

Sweet romance following Haley Raynor, an idealistic romantic, who is in love with love, as she tries desperately not to fall in love with Trevor Kelly, a self confessed commitment phobe who thinks there is no such thing as true love. They meet, they feel the mutual attraction, and they leave well alone. Not for long though. A contract on a napkin sees to that. Wonderful words, beautifully written, a story that’s funny and sexy, two people made for each other, and a super cute, successful, sexy book boyfriend who can’t see the wood for the trees. I loved it, it was entertaining, addictive, a light easy read, perfect for the beach. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Trevor Kelly gives me butterflies! I am still swooning over him! The ending was absolute perfection!!!!
Trevor came to town to follow-up on work that is being done on his father’s house. His first day in town has him running into Haley where a battle ensues over the last doughnut. Haley is a girl who doesn’t know her own beauty which makes her that much more beautiful! She has such a positive outlook on life if only she could say the same about love. Trevor and Haley strike up an unusual friendship due to their beliefs on love. They have this amazing friendship that eventually blossomed into so much more than either or them bargained for. Things shifted in their relationship which had them questioning their beliefs. Watching this happen was something to behold!
I love small town romances and this one was a gem! Great characters, fun banter and feel good romance topped off by enjoyable narration on the audiobook.
Loved, loved, LOVED the off the charts chemistry and fantastic banter that began the moment our couple meets in this book!!! I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by Adriana Locke, but this is by far the best I’ve read from her. The story follows Haley, a woman who wholeheartedly believes in love, and knows that she’s fallen into it too quickly in the past. She’s trying to work on herself and be single for a while, so that the next guy she falls for will be the right one. When she meets Trevor, they have instant chemistry and attraction sizzles between them. But Trevor is a commitment-phobe (though an adorable one), who hates when women don’t heed his warnings and catch feelings for him. They know that romance between them could never work, but that doesn’t stop the connection they feel, and as they have a series of run-ins, it becomes more and more difficult to resist the attraction.
Trevor is such a great guy, so relatable, and that is a true testament to Adriana Locke’s skill as a writer, because a guy who goes around inadvertently breaking women’s hearts should not be a likeable character. His treatment of Haley is great to read, because it becomes clear pretty quickly how women keep falling for him, but also that his feelings for Haley are unlike his past experiences. It’s a slow burn with plenty of heat along the way, and the tension between the two is palpable. There’s never a more tense situation than two people who are feeling the same thing, want each other… but know that they can’t go there. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved reading this fantastic book that shows the complexities of finding love. I am so looking forward to the next book in the series.
Really enjoyed Haley, loved her feisty attitude. Trevor and Haley together are the bomb, love them as a couple. This is one good read, thoroughly enjoyed these two.
Trevor is just what Haley needs and Haley is just want Trevor needs.
Haley is in a dating funk. Trevor isn’t interested a relationship. When these two meet their wit and banter is hilarious from the beginning. Their story is funny, cute, sweet, and the perfect amount of steam. Very well done Adriana!
I was captivated by this incredible romance right from the start. The unexpected first encounter between Trevor and Haley and how it lead to something so much more; it rocks their worlds. I adored these characters and their story! Trevor is fiercely protective, loyal and very charismatic. Haley is sweet, gorgeous, and selfless. Both are very smart and have wicked wit. Their chemistry is electric and attraction is undeniable. Their witty banter had me laughing often. Try as they may to fight the pull, they are powerless to resist the fall. Watching them fall was magical!. The storyline is brilliantly written and flowed seamlessly and was relatable. I loved the small-town setting and the significance family played in the story. The story was emotional and the endearing characters had me swooning hard. I just couldn’t get enough of this beautiful love story; I really didn’t want it to end. One of my top reads of 2019. If you want a sweet, funny, sexy and romantic read, this book is for you!
I liked the last book but I really liked this one more. I was really digging Trevor and Haley that I pretty much read this all in one sitting. It’s such a great small town with awesome people in it. You can’t help but enjoy it!
Can love be found over a donut?! Welcome back to Dogwood Lane a great place to be. In this story we have Haley that loves love and Trevor that doesn’t believe in it. Trevor drove me nuts for a bit BUT he did redeem himself later and proved that a man in love will climb any mountain to prove it. I LOVED the personal growth for Haley!!
A shout out to to the author for the way she wrote a secondary character and made us all care about her….and her doggie spa.
What happen when a die-hard romantic woman is on a dating/relationship hiatus and meet a hot single anti-relationship doesn’t believe in love man? Well you agree to be just friends, sign a contract on a napkin saying I will not fall in love with you, and you will not touch me, woo me or do anything to make me want to love you.
Hailey is the romantic woman you jumps into relationships with not so great guys and then falls in love with them or so she thinks. She hates being alone so she fills are time with guys and gets attched. Dane her cousin bet her in Tumble (Dogwood Lane Book 1) that she couldn’t do dateless for 6 months or he gets to pick her next 3 dates. She is 2 months into her no dating when Trevor enters the picture.
Trevor is a single hot guy who is not into relationships or dating, he prefer to have zero strings attached to his friends with benefits. He always seems to find the crazy clingy types or does he let them on? He is in Dogwood Lane to monitor the building of his father and new stepmother new home. His plan it to spend max of two weeks making sure everything is done to his stepmother’s specifications then return home to Nashville.
His first morning in town, he meets the most interesting woman, she is up on her stool leaning over the counter in the cafe with her yoga clad rear on display. It all starts with a carmel glazed pecan covered donut. This starts the banter between them, they run into each other a few times that day and they are both fighting this attraction that neither are looking for.

Adriana Locke created a sweet, sexy, and swoon-worthy love story with Tangle, and it was exactly what small-town romances should be! I loved Trevor and Haley’s story and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Their story made me laugh, smile, and swoon from beginning to end, and I loved the secondary characters. The Dogwood Lane series has been amazing so far, and I can’t wait to read the next standalone, Trouble!
This book was everything I expected and so much more from this very talented author, great characters that I fell in love with, a small town romance which happens to be one of my favourite tropes and some great banter made this the perfect read. I was captivated from the first page to the very last line and once I started there was no putting down. Trevor hand Haley share a lot of sizzling chemistry and their banter flows so naturally it’s hard not to love this wonderfully written romance.
Looking forward to what’s coming next in the Dogwood Lane Series.
Absolutely amazing. I loved every word of this book. The chemistry was hot and the back and forth banter between them was brilliant and had me laughing a few times. The only thing that disappointed me was that the book ended. I could have read about these 2 characters forever and not been disappointed. Another hit.
I love a good book that has a small-town feel. Adriana Locke’s Dogwood Lane series fits that to a T. I absolutely loved the characters!
Haley Raynor moved to Dogwood Lane a number of years ago to help her cousin, Dane, raise his daughter. Now that she is growing up, Haley has more time on her hands. And wants to find out what she is meant to do. Trevor Kelly owns a construction company with his brother. He comes to Dogwood Lane to oversee the construction of his father and his new wife’s home. While at the cafe one morning, Trevor edges Haley out on the last caramel donut. And they keep running into each other from there. Their chemistry is off the charts. But distance could be a problem for them.
Adriana Locke always does a great job of setting the scene in a book. She makes you feel as if you are right there, observing what is going on. And Dogwood Lane is definitely somewhere where you want to be! I highly recommend Tangle, as well as the first book in this series (Tumble)!
