Audio review:
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I did the first one, it was still, however, a fabulous book.
Haley and Trevor’s story was…. different.
The fact that they both acknowledged what they were looking for in a relationship – or not, – in Trevor’s case, was a huge bonus point for me. However, the more time they spent together, the more they were attracted to each other.
I liked the tension in their story, the way they were drawn to each other, but fought it anyway.
It made the breaking point – the fall – that much better.
I didn’t like the fact that Trevor used the relationship between Haley and his stepmother to his advantage.
Yes, the gesture was beyond beautiful, it just felt a little manipulating to do it that way.
Apart from that, I really enjoyed this book.
Summer and Aiden did another amazing job narrating this story.
No one does small town, heartfelt, swoony, sexy, romance like Adriana Locke. There’s a reason she is one of my favorite authors, and Tangle is exactly why. You will laugh, smile, swoon, and fall madly in love.
I’ve been waiting for this small town romantic comedy from Adriana Locke!

Being back in Dogwood Lane is like breathing a breath of fresh air. There’s just something special about small town life and Adriana Locke is the driving force behind it. With impeccable writing, Trevor and Hayley leap off the pages with their sexy banter, contract, and chemistry that can only be described as combustible. Seriously, if you strike a match between them they will go up in flames. These two couldn’t have been a better fit for each other. She loves love and he wants nothing to do with it. Hayley is one of those sassy characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. And, yes, I may have a wee bit of a crush on her lol. Now Trevor…that man could melt the panties off anyone. Serious swoonage over here. The man only thinks he has his life figured out and I absolutely LOVED how Hayley proves him different. This new series is amazing. Now, bring on PECK! I can’t wait to see what girl brings him to his knees!
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
I recently read the first book of the Dogwood Lane series and I was hooked. Adriana Locke has a way of drawing the reader into her quaint little town and making you never want to leave. Tangle keeps that small town mystique going. Haley was introduced as the nanny/cousin in Tumble. She is a hopeless romantic, in love with the idea of being in love. Each man she dates she swears she is in love with. After her last heartbreak, she makes a bet with her cousin: six months of not dating and just working to live her best life. Fate however has other plans.
Enter: Trevor, a man who despises the idea of love because of an experience when he was younger. When the two meet there is instant chemistry, but she’s on hiatus and he knows she’s not one-night stand material. For the brief time he is in town, overseeing the finishing touches on his father’s new wife’s home, he is intrigued by Haley and runs into her “by chance” every chance he gets.
What follows is an engaging battle of wills to not fall in love when the pull is so strong they can both feel it. How do a hopeless romantic and a man cynical of love ever make a relationship work?
Ms. Locke forges her characters to be realistic and flawed. Trevor is far from perfect, a fact which he knows and continues to point out. But when he brings his A-game he is amazing. The story has lots of great things going for it: humor, family, friends, loyalty, great characters and banter, and above all else love and passion. I’m heading to read Ms. Locke’s backlist because I’m not sure how else to pass the time until the next book in the Dogwood Lane series comes out.
Tangle by Adriana Locke is book Two in the Dogwood Lane Series. This is the story of Trevor Kelly and Haley Raynor. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Haley is a romantic loving the ideal of love where Trevor is the quick in quick out type of guy. But he is in town for a week and goes forward to have encounters with Haley. Can these two opposite end up with a happy ending?
I was a big fan of the last book but this one took me to another level of enjoyment. I hope to read more from this series and this author.
Loved, loved, loved!! Laugh out loud funny and a completely entertaining read. This author is quickly becoming one of my go to authors. Her writing gives us well developed characters and stories that tug at your heart while tickling your funny bone. Haley with her quick wit and sass had me in stitches while Trevor had me swooning. Their chemistry is off the charts and you can’t help but cheer for them. Honestly there isn’t a thing I didn’t enjoy about this book. Put this on the must read list, I highly recommend it.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Haley Raynor isn’t having a good day but having the right sweet treat can change that. Trevor Kelly found a woman who made quite an impression. This is a story where I couldn’t find one character that I didn’t like. Dane and Neely from Tumble make an appearance here but don’t overtake what’s going on. Since it’s been a few months since I read their story, I may see a re-read in my future.
A secondary character I came to love was Claire. She’s a great friend to Haley and will give you a chuckle or two as you get to know more about the town of Dogwood Lane. Penn is back again and just like in Tumble he’s an experience. With this book, I had the feeling that this little town was a modern day Mayberry. For those of you not old enough to know about that town look up The Andy Griffith Show.
What I liked about Haley is she doesn’t let her situation get her down. Now that doesn’t mean she doesn’t freak out at the beginning but she shows the strength she has. Trevor is cute. When I first met him, he gave me the impression that he was trying to impress the girl. When these two are in the same space, you could almost see the sparks, which was a great way to get me to turn the page. Their story continues the pace that was set in book one. I couldn’t help but sit back and relax as I get to know the characters. Made me want to take my book and go to my public library and find the perfect comfy chair. It would also make a good beach read. The ending left my nose twitching. I could almost smell the next book coming out. The only thing about my nose is that it isn’t always right about whose story is coming next – this time I just hope it’s right.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
“I want her to want me the same way I’m wanting her, even though I know it’s fucking stupid. And unfair. And illogical. But she doesn’t. And I shouldn’t.”
I have to say, I have a girl crush on Hayley. She had me cracking up in the first chapter and I never stopped. Especially when she’s with her bestie Claire. Please tell me she’ll get her own book, pretty please? I can’t wait to meet the man that can handle her…and Hayley since they are a package deal. I’m smiling just thinking about it.
Hayley is a ray of sunshine and it takes a lot to get her down. Well, at least that’s the case if you don’t wake her up early. She’s not a morning person, but she’s full of love and laughter the rest of the time. Unless her heart’s broken. That’s happened quite a lot actually. She’s a romantic and believes in love, if only she could find a man that did as well.
As she’s bent over the counter begging for the cream-filled, caramel-topped doughnut, ass in the air, her bestie “didn’t bother to blurt out a ‘hot guy’ or ‘sexy stranger’ warning. Nope, said sexy stranger gets a birds-eye view of said ass. She might have been too flustered in embarrassment if it didn’t become quickly obvious that he was going for her doughnut. After the morning she’d had she wasn’t giving up without a fight and proceeded to turn her charms on the gorgeous stranger. Calling him a thief might not be the best plan for most, but he couldn’t resist her sass or her ass… which looked sweeter than the doughnut.
The only problem with that memorable first meeting was that he didn’t do relationships and she didn’t do one-night-stands. They were attracted to each other, but there was no future for them, especially with him only being in town for a week. It might have been easier for them to resist the temptation if they didn’t keep running into each other. “My resolve weakens as he uses that damn dimple as a weapon. Finding the part of my brain responsible for logic under all the sexual frustration is nearly impossible.”
They weren’t the only ones frustrated. I wanted to light a match next to them because I’m sure that’s all it would take to turn the spark into an explosion. But, at the same time, the witty banter and negotiations between them were pretty damn entertaining. Just wait until you read the terms of their ‘no falling in love’ contract, you’re gonna be joining me in my giggle-fest.
There are so many colorful characters in Dogwood Lane that this amazing series could go on and on, and I hope it does. I got a glimpse of where I think it’s headed next and I’m so excited to find out if I’m right. The line forms here…
I love this series! I want more…
I liked Tangle WAY more than Tumble. Trevor and Haley were very likable. They were fun. Their banter was witty and funny. There was a buildup of sexual tension. Trevor and Haley liked one another.
Even Trevor, with his hangup about love, wasn’t mean spirited or arrogant. Haley with all of her rules, was sweet, yet a little goofy. Both of them were kind and intelligent. They unintentionally built a friendship before anything else.
I thought it was great when Trevor figured out he loved Haley. That he could love Haley. It was also great when Haley figured out she was strong. She was in pain, but she could handle it. She could move forward no matter how she felt.
Overall, I think this book had all of the elements of a good romance. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. I listened to the audiobook along with the ebook. I thought the narration was good, but I would have liked to hear more of Aiden Snow’s voice .
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
While I enjoyed Hayley and Trevor’s story I pretty much wanted to shake Trevor. I was happy Hayley held her head high and showed her true strength when face with a repeat of her track record with men. But the way Trevor finally connected with and showed her just how much he cared, how he loved her, was nothing short of swoon worthy!
I have never felt closer to a character than I feel to Haley. We are one and the same and I can only hope that means that I have a Trevor out there that’s destined to eventually find me. I can’t tell you how oddly familiar this book was as I was reading it. I literally live two hours away from Nashville in a small rural city and have had the dream of working in a library or flower shop since I was in middle school. I can go on and on with the similarities but to keep it short it’s like Adriana took my life and gave it the best story and happily ever after it could ever have. And dang if that didn’t make this one of my favorites I’ve read from her.
I feel like Haley can relate to all of us. She’s a hopeless romantic at heart but can’t seem to find the right person. She has put herself on the back burner for years to help out everyone around her and it’s finally time for her. Trevor Kelly is bound and determined to help her with her life as long as she keeps him company while he’s in Dogwood. But they’ve made a promise not to fall for each other and break any hearts. Love isn’t quite that easy, but Haley and Trevor are bound and determined to push the boundaries.
Trevor Kelly is such a hot hero and if you’re anything like me, watching him fall will be the best part. When he told Haley he didn’t believe in love, I just wanted to cackle and say “just you wait.” And let me tell you, that city boy sure does fall hard!
If you’ve never read a book by Adriana Locke, this is the perfect one to start with. If you’ve read Adriana Locke before, you’re going to fall in love with her writing once again with this one. Hands down, Adriana is my favorite author and Tangle alone is enough proof of why. I didn’t want to put this book down, but I also didn’t want it to end! This book will 100% steal your heart and have you sprinting to get a donut.
True love means trusting a person to hold your heart close to theirs and never tire of the job.
Amazing! I have been wanting to witness Haley’s HEA journey since I first met her in Tumble, and the fabulously talented Adriana Locke did not disappoint. Haleys story is full of love, strength, growth, persistence, and inspiration. This is a book you definitely do not want to miss out on.
Tangle: A Dogwood Lane Novel
By Lauren Landish
Wow I adored Tumble but I truly loved Tangle Trevor Kelly and Haley Raynor storyline was wonderful, refreshing, emotional, captivating, funny, heartbreaking at times and romantic. When Trevor first meets Haley in the diner their encounter was so funny.
“Are you finished?” he asks. I zip a line from his boots to his face. “What do you mean?” “I don’t want to walk out of here until you’ve finished appreciating me.” He grins.
They have this wonderful easy chemistry from the beginning but Haley is on a dating hiatus and Trevor is only in town for a short time and he has a crazy ex hookup that is causing him problems and won’t take “no” for an answer and has become clingy.
Later he propositions Haley to agree to eat dinner with him nightly in return he will help her write her resume and prepare for interviews. When she jokes what happens if she can’t resist his charms and falls madly in love with him and becomes attached.
He scrawls on the napkin. In bold letters it reads:
I, TREVOR KELLY, PROMISE NOT TO BREAK HALEY RAYNOR’S HEART. “Fair enough.” I take the pen and add my own line. When I spin it to face him, he laughs. I, HALEY RAYNOR, PROMISE NOT TO FALL IN LOVE AND CLING TO TREVOR KELLY. “Fair enough.” He sticks out a hand. “Deal?” I lay my palm in his and ignore the way my body sings at the contact. “Deal.”
If only life was that easy! Haley is a diehard romantic whereas Trevor is a love them leave them go to the next one. Who will come out on top and who will beg for another chance? Once you begin you won’t be able to put it down. I loved the secondary characters they brought such depth and joy to the storyline.

Loved this meet cute story! It was so funny how Haley and Trevor’s story started. Over a doughnut! Haley was so passionate about food. A girl of my own tribe, lol. Oooohhhhh, I loved Trevor! There was something so strong and sexy about him. I don’t know if it was his voice or his words. Yes, his voice! I had the opportunity to read and listen to this book with Whisper Sync. It was so awesome! I was able to read while comfy in my bed and then listen while on the road. Because of that, I really was able to connect with both Haley and Trevor. Hearing their voices brought me that much closer to them. As if they were real! Lol. I adored this couple. Haley was so much fun. I loved how she got Trevor all riled up. She really did a number on him. Trevor never had a chance. He fell hard and it was so entertaining to watch. If you haven’t been to Dogwood Lane, you should definitely check it out. There is a whole lot going on and the men are the main attraction. I promise, you’ll love it!
