I had no expectations of a future with him. We wanted the same thing. An incredible night that would make me forget…
I have one rule: I don’t do relationships.
The last thing I need in my life is a woman trying to tie me down.
There was only one woman I’d ever considered breaking my rule for. That was until I received her wedding invitation in the mail.
I learned my lesson after that, and I … in the mail.
I learned my lesson after that, and I don’t make the same mistake twice.
I reinforced my walls and never considered letting them down again.
Not even for the mysterious, gorgeous new woman in town.
Friends, I can do. Friends with benefits, even better.
But that’s where I draw the line.
Problem is, Devin is standing on the other side of it.
There are four stand-alone books in the Billingsley series:

This was a good light romance with a lot of antagonistic moments. Wes was a guy who was afraid to trust his heart again, until Devin rolled into town. He and Devin spent the better part of the story fighting each other, and it was an entertaining romance, although it was a little light on sex. I liked their back and forth dialogue, and I loved the town as a whole though, and Grams was a hoot.
How do I possibly describe Wes?! He has this one rule, which is no relationships, and there once was a woman that he almost broke it for, even after he got her wedding invitation in the mail, but didn’t, and that only cemented that rule further. And he pissed me off as much as he did Devin, the new woman in town that he couldn’t stop thinking about. Yeah, because as much as he thought about her, he also was a total douche to her as well. And Devin, well, I loved her, and she didn’t deserve how he acted, especially after what she had been through with another playboy who had been acting as her longtime boyfriend. Yet, she still stood toe to toe with Wes, not backing down, so total respect here. They became friends, though the chemistry was thick, and OMG the cast of secondaries took her side, and there was so many hysterical moments in that, well, that my stomach hurt from laughing long after I finished. The push & pull was frustrating to the extreme, and yeah, I blame Wes completely for it, because at this point, I’m so far into the story it’s not even funny. That chemistry that was so potent? It ignited into sexy times that set the sky on fire! And even in moments leading up to it there was humor (I’ll never think about scorpions in the same way again). Melissa Ellen has such a way of writing a story that is just simply brilliant & original, that I hope she never stops writing! Anyway, enough out of me, just read this story that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
He never did relationship except maybe for one woman but now he has just received a wedding invitation from them.. Now he would never do relationships. He meets her and he may just find it hard, very hard to do just that. See how it will all go

The story was well written and the characters were very likable, believable and engaging! As I turned each page I felt like Wes and Devin jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as their relationship evolved!
When Devin meets Wes, she’s already unimpressed. Yes, he’s hot, but she already knows who he is and what he is – an eternal player, and she’s been hurt, so no dating players for her. Wes is intrigued and attracted by the new woman in town. She turns him down immediately, but he can tell she wants him (eye roll!). Now he just has to figure out how to get her to cave to the attraction he knows she feels. But, only for fun, because he doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t date.
It’s the age old story of the player brought to his knees by a sassy woman. But it’s done well. I can say that Devin is my favorite part of Taming Wes. She’s sweet and strong, and I like that she resists him at first. I wish she had resisted him longer, though, or perhaps even had found someone else because I don’t think that Wes was good enough for her. In fact, Wes is the sole reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. I just didn’t like him. He didn’t treat Devin very well, and fought his feelings far too long, hurting Devin needlessly. But aside from Wes’ rather unlikable character, I really liked Taming Wes. It’s sexy and both the relationship and the characters are fully realized and well drawn. I’m looking forward to more of this series and from this author.
The third book in the Billingsley Series a book I found myself laughing a lot at some of the things that happen. I want to read the other books in this series. Wes and Devin’s story is well written and I enjoyed reading it. This is the first book by this Author that I have read. Wes has been the charming rogue in the previous books, so I was very excited to finally get the chance to see some of what’s going on inside his head. It should come as no surprise, then, that he’s a lot like his brother Tucker in his fears and dreams. Devin was a complete wild-card to me. She’s not quite like any of the heroines we’ve met so far, but there are enough similarities that she fits in with the ‘family’ just fine. This pair was often crazy-making with how hard they fought against being a pair. But it kept me glued to the story to find out what it was going to take to get them there. I’m already looking forward to our next trip back to Billingsley.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
4 1/2 Stars
This might be my favorite of the series! Wes was sweet, sensitive, and an alpha cowboy hunk. Women flocked around him waiting for any kind of attention he was willing to give. Wes had his own baggage and issues.
Emotionally unavailable and unwilling to commit, he also has a weird past attachment to his best friend Jenna who he pushed away just prior to her wedding.
Devin had broken up with her longtime boyfriend after finding him cheating with a co-worker. She makes a big change by partnering with her uncle at his veterinary office.
Meeting and falling for the undateable Wes was not part of her plan, especially since Jenna is her cousin and her best friend.
This sweet and steamy romance between Wes and Devin was well written. The author developed both characters well, and I liked that Devin was smart and capable. I also liked that there weren’t too many external factors that kept getting in the way of their relationship like Tucker and Lottie’s story.
In that story, it seemed like everyone was trying to keep them apart, in this story, family and friends try to get them together.
I was pulled into the story and also wanted a HEA for this sweet couple.

Wes doesn’t do relationships. Devin is leary of Wes because he used to have feelings for someone close to her. She’s also coming off a four year breakup. She isn’t the type to have a no strings relationship. Who will cave in? What will happen once they give in to one another?

This is the third book in the Billingsley Series but can be read as a standalone. Wes and Devin are so wonderful together and this is a heartwarming love story. Well written with great descriptions and engaging characters. Two wounded souls eho heal each other. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to review.
