When eighteen-year-old Lady Lydia Franklin becomes the ward of Lord Thomas Markham after her father’s death, she quickly discovers that the wealthy, handsome gentleman believes in strict discipline for wayward young women. Her penchant for naughtiness soon earns her a sound spanking, but despite his willingness to punish her as often and as shamefully as he feels it necessary, Thomas’ firm-handed … firm-handed correction leaves Lydia helplessly aroused.
Though he is charged with ensuring that Lydia’s innocence is preserved, Thomas cannot help but notice her body’s response to his stern chastisement. It isn’t long before she is lying naked across his lap as she is spanked thoroughly and then brought to a blushing climax, and over the coming days he sets about teaching her what it means to surrender herself completely to a dominant man.
Being taken in Thomas’ arms proves more pleasurable than Lydia ever dreamed, and she finds herself imagining a future as his wife rather than his ward, but the dark rumors about his past are hard to ignore. When he asks for her hand she agrees to be his bride, but once the wedding is over will the bond between them hold firm or will it all end in scandal and heartbreak?
Publisher’s Note: Taming Lady Lydia includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Whew! If you’re looking for a SMOKING hot read to warm you up this winter, this is it!
I really enjoyed this story, once I started reading it was hard to put down. When Lady Lydia Franklin’s father dies, she is sent to live with her appointed guardian, Lord Thomas Markham. Right from the start Lord Markham gives her rules, and expects her to follow them or there will be consequences. She really likes to push his boundaries, and soon realizes that Thomas has an unusual way of dealing with discipline. This story had a great storyline that flowed smoothly and kept me fascinated throughout, wonderful romance, remarkable characters with chemistry that was off the charts. This is a must read and I highly recommend this book.
I was provided an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
A surprisingly steamy (and kinky) read, definitely NSFW!
Whilst I’m not normally a fan of historical romance, I do love the domestic discipline versions. I’m guessing it’s that the whole ‘no sex’ culture makes them feel more naughty and taboo. I’ve read several Felicity Brandon books and love the emotional connection I feel to her heroines, so that along with the blurb really piqued my interest in this book.
This was quite different to what I thought I would get. First off it’s a fairly substantial read, longer than most similar books. Being historical it was, in some ways, quite slow burn – as in there wasn’t a ‘penetration’ scene until over half way through the book. It was much steamier than I expected, had much more story and was surprisingly kinky too. In fact, along with the usual spankings, there is a substantial amount of BDSM play in here as well.
Lydia is quite a headstrong and spoilt young lady, her father having been very absent for most of her life. When her father dies she is shocked to find that instead of remaining in London with her Aunt, she is to be sent to live with her new guardian, Lord Thomas Markham. A man she has never met but one she soon discovers takes obedience and discipline very seriously.
I really liked both Lydia and Thomas, even when he led her down a sexual pathway much frowned upon by polite society, he always put her safety and welfare first. Whilst he had high expectations of Lydia that many of us would find unacceptable in this modern age, he also held himself to the same standards. I loved that he apologised to Lydia when he felt that he hadn’t lived up to them himself.
The internal musings, forbidden desires and mental battles that Lydia had were so very believable and really helped me connect to her. Had this book been written in a contemporary setting I’m sure she would have been a bratty sub in a BDSM club! However given the time period it was set in, her confusion and worries were very understandable. The conflict between behaving as polite society deemed and, as Helena so wisely advised, only worrying about pleasing her husband and herself was extremely well portrayed.
The only reason this didn’t get a 5 star is that it took me a few chapters to ‘settle’ into the flow of the story. Due to her innocence and lack of carnal knowledge, it wasn’t immediately apparent that Lydia was a submissive. As a result I was a little confused as to why the normally headstrong and outspoken girl was suddenly so acquiescent to Lord Markham, it made her seem weak. Once I realised she was responding to the ‘Dominance’ of her Lord and Master Thomas, I felt much more comfortable with the book. With hindsight I liked how the author wrote this, even if it did throw me at first, since Lydia wouldn’t have any knowledge of D/s or BDSM.
Whilst the story concludes really well, with a very definite HFN ending, the epilogue suggests that there is more of Thomas and Lydia’s story to be shared in the future. If you like a very erotic and steamy read, with some spanking and BDSM then I do highly recommend this gem of a book.
Sexy, steamy, and altogether wonderful. Don’t miss this spanky regency romance.
This is another good read written by one of my favorite authors, Felicity Brandon. It’s a historical fiction romance about a young woman sent to live with a guardian after the death of her father. This is not your typical vanilla read but is instead a steamy and kinky one. Will dominating Lord Thomas be able to tame his Lady Lydia? Lydia doesn’t want a guardian at all but Thomas has no problem dealing out domestic discipline when he feels it’s necessary. As usual, Felicity Brandon does an excellent job leading the reader through Lydia’s journey to becoming a submissive. If you like this type of romance, then don’t miss out on this book. It’s so good!
This is a deliciously naughty book. Domineering Lord Thomas Markham suddenly becomes guardian of 18 year old spoiled Lady Lydia and he has a fun time getting control of her. The guardianship turns into lots more. This book has lots of spankings, a nasty mother, a naughty friend and love.
Felicity Brandon has taken the traditional Regency-era romance and turned it a little naughty. This book is basically Jane Austen meets the Dom.
When Lady Lydia’s father dies when she is but 19, she’s disappointed to find out that her father appointed a cousin, Lord Thomas Markham, to be her guardian until she comes of age. Lydia doesn’t want a guardian, nor does she want to live out in the country. She’s bound and determined to get him to send her back to London to her aunt or her father’s town house. However, she didn’t bank on Lord Thomas.
Lord Thomas Markham knows that he likes the darker side of sensuality, and he has no problem taking a lady over his knee in order to enforce his will. When Lydia comes to live under his roof, he knows that he’s got his work cut out for him. But, after he has to punish her for the first time, he realizes that she may be the perfect woman for him.
There are a lot of places where the book is very formal, as fits the period. Or at least, it fits in my modern American POV. It’s really interesting to see My Lord and My Lady as she is being punished. It isn’t what you would normally think off, but it works really well. It’s a great historical romance and plenty of heat to it.
I hate the countess. I can’t wait to see what’s up her sleeve.
I really enjoyed this book by Felicity Brandon,,,,
Lady Jane Malcolm’s brother, The Earl George Franklin, passed away serving the Royal Navy, his estate must be processed, his townhouse will need to be sold and his daughter, Lady Lydia Franklin will need to be taken responsibility for,,,,, and this starts out Lady Lydia’s story,,,, she is taken to Markham Hall from London, where she’s been being taken care of by her aunt,,,, she arrives at The Lord Thomas Markham’s estates to be her new home until she is of the age of 21 or married,,,, she is now 18 and will not be 19 til the 17th of March,,,, a fact that is brought up to her by the Lord Markham,,,, She has her own maid to attend her and she is late to meet the Lady upon her arrival,,,, a fact brought up by his butler, Gregory,,,,, The Lord of the Manor takes care of it by spanking Lucy, in which the Lady overhears and the whole process of the spanking kinda turns her on,,,, although, she has never had any exposure to any kind of love act, including the BDSM type, but she finds out when she is spanked one night, that when he has her over his knee, that she really likes it, but trying so hard to not let him know, but her body is betraying her,,,, and now Lord Thomas is beginning to like her in more than tha a guardian should,,,,
I really enjoyed this book,,,I really would strongly recommend it to anyone, but be warned, there are scenes of spanking and bondage, and sometimes both,,,,,, but, it just makes it all that much better,,,, grab this title on a platform near you now,,,,, you wont be sorry,,,,,,!!!
A beautiful written Regency novel by Felicity Brandon. I love Regency novels and I am adding this to one of my favorites. Lydia becomes the ward of Lord Thomas Markham after the death of her father. Lydia discovers very quickly that the house and the Lordship himself are not your average household. Lord Markham awakens feelings in Lady Lydia she has never felt before and isn’t sure about.
Felicity Brandon does an amazing job of slowly exploring Lydia’s feelings and emotions and struggles she feels on her journey to become an submissive. She is overwhelmed at times and the constrictions of the time make this even harder. There is a wonderful connection between Lydia and Lord Markham, there is an instant attraction and it deepens during the book. It has wonderful written sensual scenes, but for me the emotional journey makes this book special.
A well written regency story that caught me from the beginning to the end. It has drama, action, passion, emotional ups and downs, feelings and chemistry. A not fast paced story that lets the reader know the feelings and development of the main characters. The instant connection and affection between the main characters develops through the story.
I like that Markham is bold and goes for what he wants. He has to settle and break away to get the one thing that he really cares about. Lydia is innocent but very sassy and curious. She learns to know herself and her feelings. This couple is made for each other and they have to struggle with family and friends to get their happily ever after. Can they make it? You have to read the book.
I can only recommend this amazing read. I love books about this period and this one did not disappoint me. It is true to the time, people and places.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
