Do people say they hate someone’s guts so that they can still fall stupidly, head-over-heels in love with the other parts?
Asking for a friend.
Okay, fine. I’m not asking for a friend.
I’m asking for me—and I’m begging you to tell me that the practice of falling in love with your should-be-enemy is common.
Please tell me that I’m not the only person to track down a guy—who used to be … guy—who used to be Hollywood’s baddest bad boy before he left LA for good—at his off-the-grid cabin in Alaska, show up unannounced, and find him gloriously naked.
This probably happens all the time…right?
Tell me I’m not alone in my stupidity—that I’m not the only woman who would fall for gorgeous blue eyes and a sexy devilish smirk, even if they belong to a broody, mysterious jerk.
Please. Please. Please. Tell me I’m not alone in this.
For the love of everything, I need all the supportive girl power I can get if I’m going to convince Luca Weaver to come back to Hollywood—otherwise known as the place he hates so much that he ghosted Oscar-level success and escaped to no-man’s-land for the last eight years just to avoid it.
Yeah, don’t worry—that smoke you’re smelling isn’t your house catching fire as you read this…it’s just my career and what was previously known as my heart going up in flames.
Gah. Is it just me, or am I totally, completely, and utterly screwed?

Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy is the latest rom-com by Max Monroe, with enemies-to-lovers, close proximity trope. I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as I did some of their previous Billionaire books, mostly due to the first third of the book, in which I found the heroine a bit annoying . But it got more emotional toward the end, and our hero is so swoonworthy that I didn’t mind staying up late to finish it .
Billie Harris was a motivated assistant for a Hollywood production company. Because of her competitive nature and her job security, she volunteered to search and convince Luca Weaver, the previous child star and once Hollywood bad boy who had disappeared 8 years ago, to return for a potentially highly acclaimed movie. Their close proximity during their days-long hiking/camping trip in the Alaskan wilderness brought them closer together and they’d started falling for each other before they even realized it…
Becoming famous at the young age, Luca lost his childhood, his family, and himself due to greed, fame, and Hollywood destructive lifestyle. He decided to drop everything and live a recluse life in an isolated cabin with his adorable Labrador and an only friend who lived miles away. The sudden appearance of a sassy and stubborn Hollywood assistant was the last thing he wanted and expected! Would Billie be able to convince him to return and take the role of a lifetime?
I was not really a big fan of Billie , her sass got a bit annoying in the beginning, and I think she did not deserve Luca! He’s talented, sweet, caring, and loyal, you just need to get over his grumpy ass (understandably so, given the situation Billie forced herself upon him) to find a gooey marshmallow inside ! Did I say he was swoon-worthy? I love Bailey the Lab, he played an important role in Billie and Luca’s romance ! And I also like that both Luca and Billie had to work hard to overcome their fear and vulnerabilities to be together, but Luca’s persistence definitely scored extra brownie points for me !
4- read for me!
This is a lighthearted, fun, sexy and sweetly thrilling romance filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion.. was so much fun to read!
3.5 stars. This was a pretty good book, but not my favorite by Max Monroe. Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy is a light romp through the Alaskan wilderness and from there to Hollywood. This is Billie and Luca’s story. Billie is a production assistant to a big Hollywood producer. Luca is a former child star turned Hollywood actor bad boy, who blazed bright and burned out with a bad reputation. He left Hollywood years ago and moved the wilderness of Alaska. Billie wants to move up in her job and be mentored by her boss, over a brown noser that is her office competition. So she promises that she can get Luca to star in their upcoming film. But she doesn’t know Luca at all. She only knows the name of the nearest small town in Alaska that is closest to his remote cabin. She must trek through the wilderness and kayak across a lake, but her hardest task will be convincing Luca to come back to Hollywood. Falling in love was not part of the plan and neither of their lives will be the same.
This was a fun story. I really liked the first half that was set in Alaska the most. There is an enemies to lovers vibe. Luca was gruff and not at all welcoming of Billie barging into his solitary life. Billie was plucky and determined to make the most of her time in Alaska to convince him to return to movie making. Luca wasn’t really a bad boy in my eyes and his background wasn’t described in enough detail to explain why he had that reputation. He actually seemed like a nice guy, even if he was grouchy at first towards Billie. But Luca has a planned week long hike and camping trip, which Billie, who is definitely a city girl and not an outdoorsman, invites herself on to get more time with him and convince him to read the movie screenplay. They definitely don’t like each other for a while, but as they spend more time together and get to know each other, they begin to fall for each other.
I am not a big fan of the enemies to lovers trope, but I ended up liking Luca and Billie together a good bit. Especially their time together in Alaska. But then there is a month long separation and once they got back to Hollywood and the real world things get rocky. The two were not great a communicating. Billie was hurt and prickly towards Luca. The book goes from enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers again. I felt like that threw off the pacing and relationship momentum, which made it hard for me to feel the connection between the couple by the end of the book. I liked Luca and Billie as couple more in Alaska, but their separation and poor communication afterwards lost me a little bit. I also felt like the second half was a bit too light and fluffy, when I wished for more depth and emotion. The complications of real life, and Luca’s return to a world that he struggled with before, were glossed over. Still, I did like the book in general. It’s entertaining with some funny and cute moments. Luca’s dog is a fun side character too. I really liked the Alaskan setting and the time the couple spent getting to know each other there. The story was interesting and kept my attention, too.
Overall, Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy was an enjoyable read. I was happy that Billie and Luca got their HEA. They were a cute couple. I look forward to more from Max Monroe in the future!
This book was SO not what I was expecting, but I absolutely LOVED it!
Surly, broody Luca Weaver is my new favorite Max Monroe hero. This guy does everything in his power to make you despise him, but none of it works. He’s all bark and no bite. He may be grumpy, angry, and aloof most of the time, but underneath that sexy and gruff exterior beats the heart of a good man. He can be funny, charming, and downright swoon-inducing.
Billie is my new girl crush. This woman is a unique, one-of-a-kind country girl full of stubbornness and sass. She will not back down from a challenge and she won’t be brushed aside. She’s headstrong, determined, and can charm anyone she comes across. And no matter how hard Luca tries to not be charmed, it’s impossible.
These two are addictive from the very beginning. They have so much chemistry and their banter is never-ending. They fight, they laugh, they…do plenty of other things that are far more naughty. And you’re going to love every minute of this incredible journey the two of them take. This is a laugh-out-loud rom-com that will give you all the feels AND make you fall in love with this amazing writing duo (as if they needed to give you another reason). This one gets ALL the stars from me.
I have been a Max Monroe fan for years, and I know when I purchase their book that I’m getting a great read with a lot of humor, witty banter and romance. And even though I know this, I was still AMAZED and how often I literally laughed out loud reading this book.
Luca and Billie are such an amazing couple. Luca is gruff and grumpy, but really tender, and Billie is a tour-de-force. She is determined, resourceful (even if a little misguided) and creative. Together, they are downright combustible.
I love how Max and Monroe write books that draw the reader into the inner-most thoughts of their characters. The things that go on in their heads (both the writers and the characters) are simply hysterical and not to be missed. Romcom genre fans – grab this book now!
I am still giggling with the shenanigans that took place with Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy. Billie was my hero of this story from the get go. The spur in the moment kind of gal pal. Luca was our broody hottie! He was a bit rough around the edges. But once Billie came on board, the layers just started to come undone! I loved every moment.
Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy was hilariously sexy and I could not put this book down!!!
There’s not a Max Monroe book that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed reading, and it’s because this writing duo doesn’t write the quintessential elements of a romantic comedy; instead, they put their own spin on certain components and then create dynamic characters who bring their personal flair to the plot line, adding the perfect amount of sass, steam, and humor as well as a collection of awkward and laughable scenes that keep their readers entertained until the very last page.
The fact that there are two completely opposite settings in the story adds an intriguing dynamic to the book. Alaska and Hollywood couldn’t be more different, which makes sense given the fact that Luca left Hollywood behind and everything that defined it in order to get his feet back under him, away from the limelight and his less than stellar reputation. And the fact that Billie needs him to return to the Hollywood lights is definitely a point of contention between them and, in some ways, it’s so much more than a deal breaker.
Some of my favorite scenes in the story are when Billie joins Luca on his hike in Alaska. It’s clear that she has no clue how to maneuver in the wild and Luca doesn’t make things any easier for her. In his time away from Hollywood, he’s deliberately led a solitary life, so the fact that some woman tracks him down just to pull him back into a lifestyle that he no longer wants to live doesn’t sit well with him and he makes that plain as day to Billie and to readers. The push and pull between them, not just when it comes to his return to Hollywood, is what most of the first half of their story is about, so when it’s time for Billie to return to California, there’s an uncertainty whether she will go back alone or with someone who means so much more to her than a simple career move.
I found it interesting that readers saw many different sides of Billie and Luca’s personalities in the two locales. And it makes sense that their behaviors would be determined by the environment they were in and the people or lack of people who surrounded them. I do have to say that I would have liked to understand a bit more about how Luca got his bad boy moniker because while he’s definitely gruff and stubborn, I didn’t really see any part of him that needed to be ‘tamed.’ I feel like there was more to the story that readers weren’t given when it came to the man Luca used to be. And when I added that to the couple’s separation after they started building a solid foundation together as well as the lack of communication and the trials and tribulations they had to contend with in California, I felt like I was reading two very different stories, which wasn’t all bad…but I guess I just would have liked both sides to be on equal footing, providing all the necessary insight to truly grasp why these two characters said what they said and did what they did.
4 Poison Apples
What can I say about Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy? I really loved all things Luca Weaver! Was he a jerk when we first met him? Yes, but secretly he wasn’t. He really was a good person deep down. All it took was a sassy girl named Billie to break down his walls. Billie was so freaking funny! She is as stubborn as they come and oh so feisty. Luca and Billie’s interactions made for some darn good reading!
I swear I never tire of reading books by Max Monroe, because they are always entertaining with the perfect amount of swoon!
I adore Max Monroe and this story was no exception. The humor, the fun, the swoon – it’s all here, and all wonderful. Luca and Billie gave me all the heart eyes! These characters are both so well rounded and their stories complex. It’s so nice to get a real-feeling (even when it’s very much a fantasy world) to a love story like this.
You definitely want to add this one to your TBR ASAP!

No question, this is one of my favorite Max Monroe book to date! I really needed this in my life considering the uncertainty and stress we are living under right now. THBB was the perfect escape for me and it made me laugh like a hyena! Friends, if you need a pick me up, look no further! Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy is THE book for you! You are going to LOVE the dynamics between Billie and Luca and you won’t want to stop reading their story! Honestly, it’s been a while since I have been this invested in a book that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend it!
Max Monroe are back, and in full form!
I absolutely fell in love with Billie and Luca’s story. Billie is one strong determined woman who will work hard to get what she wants. She is full of sass and is as fierce as they come, she’s the perfect one to get this Hollywood bad boy to come out of hiding.
Luca is the perfect brooding alpha male who will have you swooning in no time at all! The chemistry between Billie and Luca are off the charts and you can just feel it sizzling off of the pages.
So if you live a book full of laughs, great banter between the two main characters and swoon worthy moments, then this has everything you need for the perfect feel good rom-com.
4 Stars
Another great one. I had a lot of fun reading it! Luca was great but I was really loving Billie. She was cracking me up, especially during the whole Alaskan adventure part. Boy was Luca just not having it with her in the beginning. Their whole camping extravaganza was really someone else. Reason 1267543456 why I am not fond of camping. Polite pass on all things nature for this gal.
I loved this book so much it’s like all the other amazing books that make Max Monroe one of my favorite duo authors.
Billie wants to make it in Hollywood she has an eye for movies and knows that she can produce the next best blockbuster hit she just has to prove it to her boss and be chosen to stay on. When the pressure is on to find the best fit for the leading actor she says Luca Weaver and even claims he wants to do it… only problem Luca Weaver has left the glitz and glamor of his bad boy Hollywood life style and hasn’t been heard from for like 10 years.
Luca is enjoying his life of solitude in Alaska no one to bother him and no movies. He has all he needs him and his dog. When a crazy blonde shows up on his door step asking him to re enter the world of acting he kicks her out. Unable to get rid of her they embark on a 36 mile hike and camping trip and there’s no glamping on this one.
I love the dynamic of Billie and Luca this was such a good story and as always a little bit of laughing out loud. I love the billionaires but I hope we get more of the Hollywood bad boys because this book was 5 glamping stars.
I didn‘t know what to expect when reading this book and I was surely not disappointed.
This book was amazing and funny and overall feel good material. The characters where so different from eachother it was fun to see how they get along and fall in love with eachother.
Billie was honestly the best. She didn‘t back away from anything thrown in her way. Not even her big mouth can save her from trouble. She‘s so determind to get where she wants to be and doesn‘t hesitate from new adventures such as going on a 5 day long hike with Hollywoods Baddest Boy Luca.
Luca is one hell of a character. Hes not convinced easily and that‘s what I loved most about the dynamic between those two character.
The writing was good and I enjoyed the chapter beginnings very much. I laughed a few times.
4/5
NO SPOILERS!
Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy was a funny, sexy, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy, and definitely another hit from the dynamic author duo that is Max Monroe!
The storyline and characters were fantastic, and I loved Max Monroe’s writing style and hilarious sense of humor. I loved the enemies-to-lovers with a twist trope, and I was captivated by everything from beginning to end. Luca and Billie were amazing, and I loved them so much. I loved their personalities and chemistry together, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Their story was definitely unique and I couldn’t help but love every second of it. Luca and Billie’s love story has been one of my favorites from Max Monroe, and I was beyond happy with the conclusion.
Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy was a fun, sexy, hilarious, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy from Max Monroe, and definitely one of my favorites from this talented author duo! Luca and Billie’s enemies-to-lovers with a twist story was exceptional in every way, and I would highly recommend it!
This book had me hooked right from the beginning. The banter between Luca and Billie is one of my favorite parts of the book. I was laughing through out the book. This book also has plenty of heart and feels. I have to give Billie credit she’s one determined woman. I wouldn’t have guts and gumption she does to go after Luca for a movie role. Luca does have some jerk vibes in the beginning, but he has a good heart. Which he shows us through the book. There are a few that truly stand out, but one means everything to Billie. I would recommend this one. It’ll make you laugh, but it’s also a male you feel good story.
Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy is everything I never knew I needed in my life but I was living for this book. It was full of everything I love about Max Monroe’s writing and I couldn’t get enough of Billie and Luca!
Billie is about to head out on a life changing adventure when she can’t keep her mouth shut and promises to deliver an actor who has been out of the Hollywood scene for eight years. Luca left the Hollywood scene because he could feel himself spiraling and didn’t want that for himself.
I LOVED Billie. Seriously, that woman had me cracking up. She doesn’t give up, no matter how crazy the idea may be. She is determined to prove herself and prove everyone wrong. She is stubborn, sassy and smart. Luca, the former bad boy turned lumberjack. It is hard not to love him either. He has a sweet and caring side, but also kind of a grumpy jerk. They had so much chemistry and I loved how effortlessly their relationship formed.
Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy will have you laughing until you’re crying, swooning over Luca, loving Billie’s sass, and falling in love with these two characters and their crazy Alaskan adventure. Another MUST READ from Max Monroe!
Sassy, feisty and just plain old stubborn. She sets herself up on a life altering trip. (Whether that is a good change or bad is yet to be determined.) He has been a recluse (for self preserving purposes.) A sexy recluse who also happens to be growly and somewhat irritable, who wants nothing more than to live his life away from the prying eyes of Hollywood. It’s a battle of wills. There are plenty of laughs along the way. There are some kinda intense moments as well, but overall it is a light hearted romance. While the two are physically attracted to each other from the start, their hardheadedness keeps them at arms lengths, giving this a slow burn feel. Yes, there is sexual content, but it’s not a ‘smutty’ kind of read. These two characters are so much fun to watch together. The banter, all the push and pull. Hilarious! It reads quickly and easily. Story flows smoothly. Alternates between POVs.
I have been reading the stories these two crazy ladies write since the beginning and it has been a sweet ride so far. This is such an entertaining and enjoyable read. I always smile and laugh out loud. This story is about I Luca and Billie. Luca was Hollywood’s Baddest Boy but he walked off a movie set and disappeared from the world for the past 8 years. Billie works as a PA (Production Assistant) in Hollywood. She currently works for a producer who has the hottest new script in town. Billie offered up Luca as the male lead. She acted like they were BFF’s only problem is she’s never met him before and now she has to find him, get him to read the script and agree. Hilarious moments, lots of smiles. 5 huge stars
Ok this is my favourite!! Not sure if i said that about Max Monroe’s previous books. But I seriously couldn’t get enough of their writings! Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy is everything I never knew I needed in my life. It’s fun, charming, and a little bit angsty.
Billie works as a production assistant, and is trying to impress her boss. So she promises to get Luca Weaver for their new movie. Luca left the Hollywood 8 years ago and has no plans to ever go back. He lives off the grid because he didn’t want to be found. So how is Billie supposed to persuade him to be in the movie? Moreover, how is she supposed to find him first?
I absolutely loved Billie and Luca’s dynamic. Their witty banter had me laughing out loud. Billie was ultimately sassy, and that matched Luca’s brooding personality. Their chemistry was explosive, I couldn’t get enough of them.
This is rom-com at its best! Another MUST READ from Max Monroe!
