A scarred lord and a ruined lady… Miss Sophia Chesterfield. And he’s promised himself once he’s healed, he’ll avenge his friend’s death. The problem is that Sophie is far too beautiful for him to remain indifferent and her sharp tongue riles him in all sorts of interesting ways. He needs to return to the war and he can’t afford distractions now.
Sophie Chesterfield wouldn’t marry at all except that she can’t very well have a baby without a husband. What she needs is a nice quiet man who causes little interruption in her orderly life. And that man is definitely not Lord Ridgeby. From the moment the man enters her house is a force of destruction on her quiet life. What’s more, he heats her blood and sets fire to everything she thought she wanted. Not that it matters. He’s made it clear he’s leaving and she doesn’t want an overbearing beast like him anyway. Does she?

She was a strong and independent woman, her brother, a soldier lost to battle, her home and the family money now in her charge. Sophie Chesterfield sis certainly no shrinking violet, and she has done wonders in managing her affairs, as much as she would like a family, does she really want to give up all she owns to a husband?
Harold Maddox was gravely injured the day Sophie’s brother gave his life to save his best friend. Now Harold must fulfill the promise he made to assure that Sophie is taken care of. His plans to come in, set up her finances, find her a husband and head back to the war came to a screeching halt when he took one look at his best friend’s sister, but he is not the marrying kind and survivor’s guilt as well as the lure of battle cause him to make some seriously bad assumptions, as well as actions that will ruin Sophie. He never expected his heart to get involved or the strong-willed woman to challenge him every step of the way.
TAMING AN UNREPENTANT EARL by Tammy Andresen seemed just a little different from her previous books! Instead of the rakish hero, we have a man who, quite frankly, was hard for me to like until well into this quick read. Sophie is ahead of her time, intelligent and bit daring and I adored her! I was rooting for her all the way to prevail! To say she proves that a hard-headed woman is more than a match for any man, would be an understatement!
Another slightly spicy, fun read from Tammy Andresen!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tammy Andresen! This is my honest and voluntary review!
Taming An Unrepentant Earl is a fantastic historical romance by Tammy Andresen. Ms. Andresen has delivered a book that is well-written and loaded with lovable characters. Harry is recovering from being wounded in battle. Alfred, the man that saved his life, and lost his own, asked that Harry take care of his sister. Alfred’s sister, Sophie, had a house that was paid for and enough money to support her and her cousin for their lifetime. But Sophie wanted more, a husband and children. Harry and Sophie’s tale is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and action. I enjoyed reading Taming An Unrepentant Earl and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Taming An Unrepentant Earl is book 10 of the Taming the Duke’s Heart Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Can two persons with different agenda find a truce and maybe more together.
I do love Tammy Andresen’s work, she writes witty fast paced stories with dashing broken heroes and no-weak heroines with a steak of stubbornness.
Here, Harry has only one purpose, dispose as expeditiously as possible of his newly appointed ward and go back to the battlefields.
The problem is his ward is no destitute young miss, she is woman who would not bend to his demand as she has dimes of her own.
Sophie does not possess the classical beauty of her cousin but her inner strength and vitality irradiate and make her shine, more specifically in Harry’s eyes.
They share an instant chemistry which heats up a room when they are together, but it seems as always both are too blinded by their own tumults to sense it.
They will need facing ruin and kin’s intermediaries to understand what they have together and decide if they could wager on a future together.
4.5 stars for this sizzling read.

Captain Harold “Harry” Maddox has temporarily returned home to recover from injuries he suffered in the war. He has also just been given the title of Earl of Ridgely by the Prince Regent for Harry’s valor on the battlefield. His best friend, Alfred Chesterfield, saved Harry’s life by pushing out of the way of cannon fire – Alfred died & Harry received shrapnel all over his body but his hip was damaged the most. Harry received a letter while in the hospital that Alfred had written, asking Harry to see that provisions were made for his sister.
Miss Sophia “Sophie” Chesterfield had recently lost her aunt & brother, Alfred & had been left a house & some money that she & her cousin, Danielle & a few servants were living in. She was enjoying the independence of running a household & being free to do as she chose in the small seaside village of Capel-le-Ferne. She was a force to be reckoned with & her outspoken manner & strength of character has thrown Harry for a loop – he was expecting a homely, quiet lady & Sophie was completely opposite of those expectations.
This was not going to be an easy endeavor – not only was she fighting him on all the reasons he needed to help her find a gentleman & settle down but he found himself attracted to her & that could not happen. Sophie & Harry have a lot of bantering, down right arguments, some romantic moments & finally the reason Harry had come to her – she will be settled & married. I really enjoyed the story & the characters from earlier books make appearances & a couple of new ones surface to make this a fun read. I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all of the opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
Taming an Unrepentant Earl is the tenth book of the Taming the Duke’s Heart Series but can be read as a stand-alone. This book grabs your attention and keeps it! Captain Harold “Harry” Maddox injured his leg while in the army and is home to recover. His best friend, Alfred Chesterfield, died shielding Harry from cannon fire. Harry planned on honoring his promise to Alfred to make provisions for his sister, Sophie, by taking her to one of the women’s home his sister had started. Then he plans to recover and to go back to the front line of war. Before entering the army, he lead a carefree life but the army gave him a purpose and he was determined to go back. He was not expecting Sophie to be so beautiful or to have her own plans! Sophie had been handling her own affairs for some time and intended to finding a husband for herself and then one for her cousin, Danielle. All she needs is a guardian to introduce her to some gentlemen. She definitely was not going along with Harry’s plan! Harry’s family arrive to help introduce Sophie to potential husbands. Harry has to make the choice of going back to war or staying to marry Sophie and manage his new earldom. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to his bravery, and subsequent injury on the battlefield, Harold Maddox has been given an earldom and is home to convalesce from his hip injury. After the loss of his best friend, he’s promised to care for Chesterfield’s sister, Miss Sophia Chesterfield. And he’s promised himself once he’s healed, he’ll avenge his friend’s death by returning to continue fighting the French. The problem is that Sophie is far too beautiful for him to remain indifferent and her sharp tongue riles him in all sorts of interesting ways.

Yet another unputdownable read from the author, which once again I read in a sitting. Very strong characters & a well written story made an afternoon fly by. I loved the banter between Harry & Sophie, their attraction sizzled from their first meeting. This book could be read on its own but the whole series is really good
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
A delightfully warm romance, this book ticked all the right boxes for me. Harry has been given leave to allow his war injury to heal and he takes the opportunity to visit the sister of the friend who gave his life to save Harry’s. He is partly driven by survivor guilt and partly by the need to do the right thing for his friend. Harry discovers that Chesterfield’s little sister isn’t a vapid, silly young miss, but a beautiful, competent and witty young woman. Their attraction is instant, but Harry makes it very clear that the moment his wounds have healed, he intends going back to the war. It takes his younger, irresponsible brother to talk sense into him and he sets out to win Sophie over, but not without having to face new dangers on her behalf. This is a well-written novel and characters from previous books in the series appear in this one too. However, it is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
