This is the 6th book in the Taming the Heart Series and is a story of a tortured soul and the woman that tries to save him. Lord Lucious Loudon is trying to outrun his addiction and takes a ship to America from England with his friend Barrett, the Duke of Manchester and Barrett’s ward May. Granted May is only 13 but makes Lucious’s journey bearable and helps him with his problems. Years later, Barrett and May come back to America to visit and Lucious is stunned at how beautiful May has grown. May has never forgotten Lucious and finds her heart is his and always has been. Tammy Andresen’s writing pulls you in from the first page and does not let you go until the last. Strong emotions, suspense and even danger erupt and keeps the reader entranced. I truly could not put this book down and I know you will feel the same way.
TAMING A ROGUE EARL by Tammy Andresen is a compelling but heart-wretching story of a young lady and a past alcoholic who became friends in the previous book. While, book 6 it can be read as a stand alone, I’d suggest reading the previous book first, for a bit of back story of May and Lucius. But not necessary to enjoy this book.
This is the story of May Stanley, a 20 year old lady and Lord Lucius Loudoun, an alcoholic, who is now a shrewd businessman. This story takes place in America, in 1866. May has returned to America with one of her guardians, the Duke of Manchester, who is a friend of Lycius and he works with him in the shipping business. The Duke of Manchester has always believed in Lucius. May is seeking a husband, one who will stay in America. ….so begins her struggle to gain Lucius’ heart.
A story of an alcoholic, who has changed his life, to a better one, and a naive, impressable young lady. Lucius tried to stay away from May, but she’ll have none of that. Lucius believes himself unlovable. May is out to prove him wrong.
Fast paced, quick read, approximately 162 pages, but very heart-wretching, with well-developed and engaging characters with a few unsavory characters, as well, although May is a bit naive. The plot was interesting with elements of mystery, drama, a bit of action, a bit of suspense, lots of romance and passion. Ms. Andresen manages to weave a bit of humor throughout this story.
Ms. Andresen never disappoints her readers, but she manages to write topics readers can relate to, about people who feel realistic and are believable. I enjoyed Lucius and May’s story. It had to be a difficult story to write, so, many strong feelings, in writing a story of an alcoholic and a young lady. I have a bit of a soft spot for alcoholics, their struggles, their circumstances and their will to overcome. My hat goes off to Tammy Andresen for writing a suburb story! Strongly recommended.
