Tamed & Unleashed: The Highlander’s Vivacious Wife is an outstanding historical romance by Bree Wolf. Ms. Wolf has given readers a book that is well-written and filled it with a magnificent cast of characters. Claudia runs away to Scotland to elope but her young man’s brother stops them and they return to London leaving Claudia behind. After a night of drinking, she marries Garrett. Claudia wakes the next day and knows she’s no longer a virgin, but there is no man in her room. Her brother arrives to take her home and when Garrett returns to the room he finds his new wife gone. Garrett and Claudia’s story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to my next book by Bree Wolf. Tamed & Unleashed is book 13 of the Love’s Second Chance Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
This was a wonderful book by Bree Wolf that I didn’t want to put it down. She gave a different light to how families protected the reputations of the young girls.
Claudia was a very determined young lady, but so was Garrett in wanting to find his wife and son.
Adventure and Love. I am an avid reader of Bree Wolf, a talented storyteller and writer whose work continually stands out from the norm. I was looking forward to Claudia’s story. The story of Claudia and Garret was captivating. I have always adored the way Wolf characterizes her female protagonists. They are empowered, distinctive, and amazing. I especially liked the theme of motherhood interlaced in the story. She surpassed all of my expectations to make it one of my favorite in the series.
love this series….would give these books more stars if i could
This was a great story. I loved getting to know Claudia and her tenacity and love for her child despite the questions that surround the child’s origins. This story was full of adventure and mystery. Garrett was the husband trying to find his wife of only one night. When he discovers that Claudia doesn’t remember him, he decides to keep her safe in her journey. The chemistry was there between the two throughout the book. The mystery and the amnesia gave an extra dimension to the book that held my attention. This was a clean romance with lots of action, adventure and some intrigue.
This was a great story! I made the mistake of picking up this book right before I went to bed and then couldn’t stop reading. It had a good balance of adventure and romance. The characters were charming and likeable, and it’s always fun to catch up with characters from previous books. A perfect book for summer reading! Unfortunately due to wanting to know the resolution of whether the baby was found, the identity of the kidnapper, and if Claudia and Garrett ever get together—I read the book too fast so it didn’t last long enough! I really liked the character of Henri and hope to read his story soon.
So many unanswered questions
This is another beautiful story by this talented writer it is an attention getter and got better with each page. Claudia and Garrett’s second chance was marvelous a really entertaining read. We have danger and mystery with unanswered question answered. This story is a bit different and very refreshing. This really is a must read and I highly recommend it.
Claudia can’t remember the night that led her to this point of her life. Pregnant, isolated and giving her baby up the minute its born. She has tried and tried to remember that night but keeps drawing a blank. She hopes that once she returns to society she can move past this dark time in her life.
Garrett has been searching for his wife for years, he met her one crazy night and married her immediately but had to return to Scotland quickly and never got to say I’ll be back. He searches for a year and finds her again quite unexpectedly.
Claudia and Garrett set out on an adventure together, searching for a lost soul. Claudia doesn’t remember Garrett right away and he does nothing to clue her in. Will he stay the consummate stranger or fill her in on their past?
I enjoy Bree Wolf’s book greatly, and this was no exception. 4 solid stars for this latest installment in the Love’s Second Chance series.
A bonding of souls, a forgotten night, a cherished gift, and a broken heart. Claudia’s journey to find her kidnapped son brought revelations of a man forgotten, a remembered night, and a love almost lost. Together Claudia and Garrett take a journey that will have the reader enthralled and anxious to find a HEA.
SETTING: Gretna Green, Scotland, Summer 1808 (or a variation thereof)
Claudia Davenport, adventurous younger sister of Viscount Ashwood (Richard Davenport), finds herself with a hangover in an inn in Gretna Green, and with scant memory of what happened after her intended left Scotland with his brother. Some vague memory of a man whispering sweet words to her come to her in dreams, the voice of the man who turns out to be the father of her unborn child!
Facing life as an unwed mother in 1808 London society was a grim prospect; thus her family arranged for the child to be placed in another family to be raised, as difficult as it was to give up the child. Unbeknownst to Claudia & her family, enroute to his new home, the Babe is kidnapped! Claudia, recovering from childbirth, is taken back to London from the country estate where she had given birth. The plan is to slip back into society.
What about the father of the child? Why did he leave Claudia alone, without any indication of who he was, where he went, or if she would ever see him again? Claudia finds herself entangled in an adventure that takes many twists and turns, before she is rescued by the man off her dreams.
CRITIQUE: A well-written book that from the beginning poses a mystery that entices the reader to become invested in the story. Claudia’s situation is presented in a manner that is realistic, drawing the reader’s sympathy. I enjoyed how Ms. Wolf solved the mystery, taking us right along with Claudia. It was another page-turning all-nighter to finish the book for me!
I received an early copy of this book. My review is voluntary. I have no financial relationship with either the publisher or the author.
The story of Claudia and Garrett is definitely Bree’s best work yet. Ms. Wolf does a superb job weaving Claudia’s story together. There is mystery, surprises and romance of course! This will remain forever on my bookshelf. Thanks Bree Wolf!
I think I’ve been reading too many novellas or short novels lately, because while I loved this story, it kind of drug for me. I wanted things to happen faster. This was a crazy awesome story with twists and turns I did not expect. I’ve wanted to read Claudia’s story for a while and was not disappointed. I love the change that comes over Claudia. She really comes into her own. Garrett is such a great guy and man does he have patience. I’m grateful he never gave up. This can be read as a standalone, buy if you want more back story I would definitely suggest reading Oppressed & Empowered: The Viscount’s Capable Wife and Condemned & Admired: The Earl’s Cunning Wife.
Tamed and Unleashed is a well-written and somewhat unique second chance romance. Claudia and Garret are great characters, and theirs is an exciting and emotional story filled with action, mystery, drama, and danger. The adventure includes lots of twists and turns, pirates, rescues, and remembering. Will Garrett find his wife? Will Claudia remember who he is? Can they find their son? This one is hard to put down. It is a good read; I recommend it.

A book for all!
A very emotionally moving story for our heroine Claudia Davenport. A failed elopement, wakes up alone in a strange room at a inn in Gretna Green, can’t remember anything from the night before but there is evidence she had s€x. Her brother, Viscount Ashwood finds her that morning and takes her back home. A confused Garrett MacDrummond of Clan MacDrummond finds an empty room with no note or message left from Claudia. Mystery ensues. The story covers what happens in both their lives over the next year. When the new season starts Garrett is in London staying with an English relative. He has been trying to find Claudia for months but she disappeared and no one knows where she is. But he perseveres going to any and each event looking for her. Finally, she shows up and Garrett is overcome with emotion. She acts as though he does not exist. Like she has never seen him before. He does not know what to do. But what happens next is the beginning of the most terrifying, dangerous, frustrating days and nights that Claudia and Garrett ever experience. A challenging read. Well worth the time and I do recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
With the opening scene of this work, where Claudia Davenport wakes up with a splitting headache in an inn at Gretna Green and has no memory of what happened the night before, I was hooked. And from this point forward, this emotionally gripping tale unfolds. And what a romance it became, full of action, suspense, kidnappings, rescues, second sight, pirates, and even an old nemesis. Bree Wolf has a way with her writing that I love so much. I am drawn into her characters and their actions. They are likable. And some, not so much. Tamed & Unleashed is now probably my most favorite of the Love’s Second Chance series books.
I received a gift copy of this work and this is my honest review of what I read. I have also purchased the book
I love this story. It shows how far people will go go to find their loved ones. Claudia can’t remember her stay at Gretna Green or the man she spent the night with. But the next nine months will remind her of that night. When she sends her son to a couple to raise him he gets kidnapped on the way. Garrett a highlander appears in her life and she feels a connection. He wants her to remember him, her husband, he also wants to know who Aiden is. While Claudia is looking for her son, Garrett is right behind. Theirs is an adventure of understanding, danger and finally going home. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Waking up alone after a drunken night with a stranger in Gretna Green, Claudia Davenport, sister to Viscount Ashwood, finds herself still unmarried and with child. In order to preserve her reputation, her brother sends her to a remote estate so she can give birth in secret and then return to society, unscathed but heartbroken after giving Aiden up for adoption. However, when he is kidnapped, Claudia can no longer deny the bond that connects her to her son. Alone, she sets out to discover his whereabouts and her path crosses that of a stranger, who feels all too familiar.
After marrying an English lass in Gretna Green, Garrett Macdrummond returns to their room at the inn the next morning only to find her gone. Duty-bound to return to his clan in the Scottish Highlands, he counts the days until he can travel to England to find her. However, when he finally does discover her, he is shocked to realise that she does not remember him.
Determined to remind her of the fateful night they shared, Garrett refuses to leave her side, following her across England without knowing why.
We met Claudia in Oppressed & Empowered her brother Richard’s story & I was intrigued about her story. Another well written page turning read with plenty of twists and turns as Claudia aided & abetted by Garrett search for their son. I particularly liked the way their relationship developed especially as Claudia slowly realised who Garrett was. I also love that characters from previous books tend to appear usually with teasers for their stories to come. I read into the night to finish this enthralling read.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Beautifully written, angst-filled and suspenseful, Tamed and Unleashed drew me in from the opening chapter and kept me up way beyond bedtime. Wild child Claudia goes one step too far in pushing against the boundaries of her class and ends up pregnant and alone. Whilst her family is protective of her, the pain and inner turmoil that Claudia experiences go far deeper than remorse and self-disgust for her actions. When her newborn son is kidnapped, Claudia discovers that she will do anything to get him back and never let him go again, even if it means being censured by her family and society. Going after him in the dead of night, Claudia finds she is not alone and the stranger she met on the dance floor is dogging her as she pursues her quest. Following the trail of breadcrumbs, Claudia and Garret (the man who haunts her dreams) make surprising discoveries, realising that they each only had half the puzzle. When they catch up with their quarry, they are devastated when they are once again thwarted, but rescue and justice come from a very surprising source. Both main characters enchanted me and I especially loved Garrett’s total acceptance of Claudia and willingness to follow her to the ends of the earth, if that is what it took to get her back again. The story isn’t wildly romantic but tender, bringing healing and restoration to Claudia’s batter soul. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
