In this Regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author Bree Wolf, a daring lady and a persistent highlander stumble upon true love in a moment they least expect it.England 1809: After marrying an English lass in Gretna Green, highlander GARRETT MACDRUMMOND returns to their room only to find her gone. While his heart yearns to go after his wife, his duty forces him to … duty forces him to return to his clan. Still, his thoughts are consumed by the dark-haired lass with the blazing blue eyes and sharp tongue, and he counts the minutes until he can finally set out to claim her as his once again.
After a drunken night, CLAUDIA DAVENPORT, sister to Viscount Ashwood, wakes in an unfamiliar bed with no memory of how she’d gotten into it…or with whom. Fleeing the scene, she returns to England, only to find herself with child not long after. In order to preserve her reputation, her brother sends her to a remote estate to wait out her pregnancy and give birth in secret.
Searching London for his missing wife, Garrett is pushed to the point of madness when she seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth. No one’s seen her in months. No one’s heard from her in months.
After the birth of her child, Claudia returns to society. However, nothing is as it once was. For although her brother managed to contain knowledge of her indiscretion, he could not keep her heart from breaking into a thousand pieces the day she had to give up her newborn son.
Nevertheless, when Claudia receives word that her precious child has been stolen, she can no longer deny the bond that connects them. Alone, she sets out to discover his whereabouts…and her path crosses that of a stranger.
A stranger, who feels all too familiar.
A stranger, whose dark green eyes look at her with intimate knowledge…
…and whose kiss stirs a faint memory.

Another great read from Bree. All her books in this series have kept my interest so much that I read them in one sitting, love how the characters are intertwine with each other. This book will capture your interest from the beginning. Looking forward to Moria’s story.
As all of Bree’s books, I just loved Claudia’s story. After having finished book 11 with Evelyn and Richard I couldn’t wait for this story to come.
I even think it is my absolute favorite!! Even though it is hard to choose just one!
I love the way Claudia fights for her son, the fact that she cannot remember Garrett – ahhh Garrett.. what a man!
And.. (attention – stop reading if you don’t want to know that before reading it for yourself) Henri!! I wouldn’t have expected to re-meet him again! I am soooo looking forward to his own story with Juliette!

Poignant and suspenseful with many twists and turns. Amnesia, a drunken encounter, a kidnapping, and the tenacity of true love fill the pages of this complex clean romance featuring Scotsman Garrett and his quest to reunite with his English wife Claudia.

I received a free copy of the full-length clean historical novel Banished & Welcomed The Laird’s Reckless Wife ( Love’s Second Chance Series Book 14: Highland Tales book 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A story of conflict, love, loyalty, and duty with a poignant but happy ending. Complex, highly descriptive, easy flowing, and captivating but with a sinister and suspenseful undertone in the form of depression, grief, and death. Jealousy and second sight result in disgrace, betrayal, being labeled a witch and Moira’s being banished from her home and the protection of both her brother Alistair and her cousin Laird Connor Brunwood of Greystone Castle in the Scottish Highlands to the lonely protection of her mother’s sister and the clan of the empath Cromag MacDrummond of Seann Dachaigh Tower.

I received a free copy of the novella Haunted & Revered The Scotsman’s Destined Love (#15 Love’s Second Chance Series: Highland Tales book 4): Alastair and Deidre by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A timely and easy flowing, poignant yet heartwarming and satisfying novella which contains the true meaning of family and a family’s love centered at Christmastime in 1800’s Scotland. This story is emotion-packed filled with heartbreak, hope, and a love that endures despite misunderstandings, changes, and challenges. 2 years after the loss of their 3-month-old daughter, grief over the loss of many babies leads the couple into emotional isolation. Just as Deidre fears she may also lose her husband Alistair, the fulfillment of his sister Moira’s puzzling dream promising a great love comes to pass when strangers bearing secrets stay at the castle during the Christmas season.
18. Book 16: Fooled & Enlightened The Englishman’s Scottish Wife also Highland Tales book 5:5 stars
I received a free copy of the historical romance Fooled & Enlightened The Englishman’s Scottish Wife: Love’s Second Chance Series: Book 16: Highland Tales book 5 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Complex and easy flowing with a few twists and a touch of the mystical in the form of young Blair, this struggle of duty over longing and love provides us a deeper insight into the cause of the broken relationship between Ian and Maggie MacDrummond, and although it did not lessen my sympathy for Ian it did increase my empathy towards Maggie. Ends happily but with a cliffhanger.
Separated by lies, Lady Margaret Brandley, daughter to the Earl of Tynham ruins her life with an unhappy marriage while Nathan Penhale, Earl of Townsend buries his heartache with multiple women and
alcohol until fate and a little help from Blair cause the now widowed Maggie MacDrummond to return to England and confront the man she thought broke her heart.
Impulsive, fiery and gregarious Claudia is brought to her knees by the loss of her child. Determined to rescue him from his kidnapper she embarks on a journey accompanied by a beguiling highlander, who despite her best efforts won’t be budged from her side. Loved it, especially the twists and turns in the last couple of chapters.
I liked it.
Loved it! A bit more saucy – well, Scotsmen are involved – than the How To series, so, of course, I loved it! After a failed elopement feisty Claudia has a merry night…with a hangover, memory loss and other…consequences. When her child is abducted, she goes after him with a stranger for company. A stranger who seems rather familiar. A journey of discoveries ensues and a happily ever after as well.
It is sometimes difficult to think that a woman in those times would go alone in searching of her child, but it provided quite a story.
Claudia has run away to Gretna Green with William, but he abandons her. Still Claudia wakes up the next morning finding that she has spent the night with someone. Later sh finds herself pregnant, hidden away until the birth of Aiden, then forced to give up her child. Finally she reenters society in the middle of the season. Garrett McDrummond comes to London from the Scottish Highlands to find his wife, whom he’d last seen in their room in Gretna Green. Of course Claudia is his wife, but she doesn’t remember him at all. While this sounds like a potential opening for a farce, the book is a serious romance, one worth reading.
Good story and no yukky sex. Yea!
Impulsive Claudia elop3s to Gretna Green but finds herself stranded. Drowning her sorrows at the local inn, she finds herself flirting with Garrett and unloading her anger and dismay. Again, impulse takes over when she agrees to wed Garrett that same night. What comes of such a union? Why are these to separated? Will they be rejoined? Only time will tell.
This is a good book to read. A nice clean romantic story
Couldn’t put this book down. Filled with twists and turns you don’t expect. Good read. Love conquers all.
Great clean love story. Truly original with a mysterious plot, taking you on quite a journey!
It wraps round my heart. As beautiful a romance as I have ever read!
If you allow yourself to just immerse yourself in the fictional aspect of the book you will enjoy it!!
A girl wishing for adventure finds more than she thought possible. A man trying to find his wife and gets more than he bargained for.
The characters and plot keep the reader well engaged and the story has so many twists and turns it is hard to see where it will lead.
The author writes so well that I could “see and feel” the sights and emotions.
You find you are lead to like and dislike certain characters.
I enjoyed reading this so much I look forward to reading the next in the series as well as the other previous books in the second chance for love books!
I felt genuine tears of sadness when Claudia was abducted and Garret’s utter despair watching them sail away. And then great joy when Garret’s long time friends appeared as if out of nowhere on the docks at Glasgow offering their aid to retrieve his son and wife from the clutches of a madman. It reminded me again of my own faith or lack there of that our needs will always be met by an unseen power even before we ever knew we needed them. Being a mother myself I can truly empathize with Claudia and her fierce motherly instincts and protective feelings toward her son. I thought that my favorite book in this Love’s Second Chance series was Despised & Desired but now I’m finding it difficult to decide if this book might be my favorite after all. It certainly tugs at the heartstrings and brought tears to my eyes more than once, happy and sad ones. If you decide not to read this book then you will sadly miss out.
loved the characters- Plot different and enjoyable. Happy ending
Kidnapped
When her son is kidnapped Claudia doesn’t waste anytime looking for him. When a big Scotsman invites himself as her protector she can’t convince him otherwise. Each have their secrets that will bind them together. Love this series. You can’t help but become addicted to reading them.
Clean romance.
Wolf is an original, creative writer. Her plots are different from most romances. She gives her reader’s the unexpected. I read this book awhile ago and ,therefore, am unable to go e specifics. But, I buy her books the minute I see one.
This was a great story to read with a glass of wine in your own bubble. I needed something like that to get out of the reality of life.Loved it as usual, great book from Bree. She always find ways to make us dream and to keep us in a different place each time.
