Talon Lore, a former SEAL, has spent the last two years recovering from the damage done when his squad’s truck drove over an antitank landmine. Six other team-mates were also badly hurt, the seventh dead, in what their team leader Badger Horley realized later had to be a trap set to take them out. After his best friend is run down, Talon realizes his murder ties in with the original incident that … that drove him and his squad hell-bent for revenge.
A year ago, Talon walked away from his girlfriend, Clary Witcher when she’d given him an ultimatum he couldn’t win. Clary is the sister of his best friend killed in the hit-and-run. Determined to tell Clary in person that her brother’s death was no accident and keep her safe from those now targeting her, Talon struggles with the haunting prospect of a reunion.
Clary has never forgotten and never forgiven herself for chasing the man she loved and still loves away with her stupid, take-it-or-leave-it threat. Her brother’s death is a tragedy she’s barely dealt with when Talon shows up with answers that only beg more questions. He won’t leave her side, certain her brother wasn’t the only target. But Clary has learned one thing from her time away from him: Love–not trouble–needs to be Talon’s reason for staying with her…even if sending him away means jeopardizing her own life.

Talon has the hard task of not only tell his best friend Chads sister Clary that Chads death wasn’t an accident but see her for the first time after he walked away from their relationship when she made him choose between her or the Navy. This gets into emotions pretty early on and then the actions starts not long after as Talon and Lazlo try to work out if the stalker Clary had is the same one who also killed Chad. This is also a turning point for Clary to decide what she wants ot do with her life after not only losing Talon, Chad dying and also getting a divorce from a loveless marriage. While more clues are uncovered on who caused their accident and had been systematically killing those close to them we see Talon and Clary grow close to each other once again and hope that this time they won’t let anything come between them.
Exciting!
As this fabulous series continues, it just keeps getting better and better. Talon is the fourth guy from the SEAL Team unit to unexpectedly find a special someone. Clarey is the sister of his best friend Chad, who was killed while walking, by a hit and run driver. Now everyone knows it was no accident and the person responsible is after Clarey.
Talon and Clarey share a past, a relationship that wasn’t meant to be at the time. With Talon convinced that Clarey is now in danger, he needs to make sure she stays safe. It may also be a time that they can mend their relationship and move forward.
I love the series of events in these stories and how each one gets us a little more vested and a little closer to finding all the answers to the major questions swirling around the group. There is so much intrigue and suspense, it’s fantastic!
I haven’t read a story spanning multiple books like this in quite some time. They are very unique and the author has to be exceptionally talented in order to hold a reader’s interest and keep the excitement at a premium high. This one is top-notch. I felt that there is close attention to detail and unexpected twists and turns to keep this story fast paced and me, the reader, engrossed and unwilling to put the book down until finished.
I totally recommend this entire series. This book is excellent! I loved it!
The clues to who blew up the SEALs of Steel unit keep coming as they try to figure out who did it. All the while each man finds the one woman who makes them complete and grounds them, this time it’s Talon and his first and only love Clary. They broke up when she wanted him to be home but his life was the Navy and now when he finds out her brother’s death was no accident, he comes back to find out the truth. Clary has been walking through life since breaking up with Talon in a haze, she’s divorced and now and years later when Talon reappears with shocking news, she’s furious with him, until she realizes the real reason he wasn’t there for her brother’s funeral. As they delve into the “accident”, Clary’s life is once again in danger when the same man responsible comes back for her…will Talon save her and will they get a second chance ?
Another great instalment in this series with steam, second chances, some suspense and mystery. I enjoyed these two as they settle the past between them and realize both still had the love for each other and now that they are older and wiser, they realize their mistakes and try to move forward. A read that flowed beautifully and I loved how more clues are dropped as to who it is and the conclusions they come to at the end…can’t wait for the next one as they grow closer to solving the mystery.

Another awesome book by Dale Mayer. I loved the characters and how they interact with each other. I loved the story of Talon and Clary! I loved the way the characters from previous books in the series come into the story and help the main characters. As you can see I just loved everything about this book. If you like action, drama, suspense and a bit of a love story thrown into the mix, you will absolutely love this book. Don’t plan on doing anything else while reading as you will become so engrossed and absorbed in the book, the “real world” disappears! Love it!

I loved Talon but I love all of these seals of steel stories and although excited and I am scared to find out the who done it scenario. Talon has been injured like the other 7 men in his unit on that fateful day when after being given order to detour from the others in the group they drove over a dug in land mine. Talon the one driving feels responsible but now they know it was sabotage. With one unit member dead, their friends and family being picked off by a hirtman and the main person always being one step ahead, it’s a race against time to save those still living and themselves.
Talon lost his best friend Chad a year ago but due to his injuries he never got to the funeral but he has always held a spark for chads sister with whom he had a relationship with until she pushed him away. With Chads death being no accident it’s up to Talon and Lazlo to figure out what’s going on and try and keep Clarey safe. Will they be able to do it? Are they any closer to finding the bad person? A brilliantly written book with lots of suspense and emotion. I love that Clary and Talon have decided on a second chance.

Truths unveiled leave you reeling in more pain…
TALON, brings us to Bk 4 in the Seals of Steel series. The plot has taken a decidedly twisted, heartbreaking turn for the Seals of Steel team. As Talon and Lazlo investigate Talon’s best friends “accident” – it opens up old wounds for Clary. It also gives them both an opportunity to be honest and find something new. Talon just has to protect Clary from the very despicable and atrocious realizations that are still all to real. Deadly intentions that continue to escalate.
Clary… oh boy is that girl feisty and filled with fire. I wasn’t sure at first if I was going to like her snarky attitude at times but honestly… Dale has written Clary’s character perfectly. Sometimes we aren’t at our best, we are flawed and full of emotions that overwhelm us. We just function! Hopefully along the way, someone comes back to us with patience and honesty, some heart -to-heart communication. It takes moment a of self reflection, when everything falls into place… that moment of clarity – to know what we need to do to have her second chance.
Wonderful, intelligent, patient and compassionate characters that are reeling from horrific injuries, learning to deal with life and limitations as it now is yet never giving up and learning to adapt through any hardship that comes their way. Determined to find answers and to right the wrongs perpetrated.
Dale continues her captivating series with yet another page-turning drama. Intrigue, twists and unexpected turns – with TALON. I highly recommend not only reading TALON, if you haven’t started, go back to the beginning and start reading the SEALS OF STEEL series . It’s for those that love military based heroes and the women that capture their attention, protect those they care and love.
And the mystery continues as Talon and Laszlo return to Talon’s hometown to inform Clary, Talon’s ex girlfriend, that her brother’s death may not have been an accident but instead, murder.
Clary was astonished to see Talon at her brother, Chad’s grave almost a year after his death. Why now since he didn’t bother coming to the funeral.
The electric tension between Clary and Talon is still evident to Laszlo even if the two refuse to admit it.
As they continue to put more pieces of this puzzle together it becomes evident that Clary may be in danger. Someone is trying to cause as much pain to the survivors of the land mine explosion that took out one man, Mouse and left the other six mangled and missing limbs and losing other body parts.
This book is filled with excitement and there’s danger on every page as the team finds more missing pieces of the puzzle but discovering there is much more than they had originally thought.
During all the happenings Clary and Talon finally admit their feelings for each other at still alive and it appears the embers of their love just needed a little fanning to bring it back to flame.
I strongly advise you read the previous books in this series as it will make the events in this book easier to understand.
Be prepared for a wide range of emotions when you read this story – sadness, joy & elation, anger, frustration, and more. There is a lot happening in this story – more developments toward learning who is behind the “accident” the SEAL team experienced two years ago, the possible second chance at love for Talon and Clary, and the importance of learning the facts and not jumping to conclusions. Love brotherhood between the members of the team and their spouses/girlfriends. Also liked that a recap was provided of where the team was at in their investigation and what their next steps were – kind of made me feel like I was in the room with them.
Talon and the rest of the team are trying to find out who set them up in Aftgan and destroyed their lives. He and Laslow go to California, one he wants to go to his best friends grave (Chad) since he didn’t make it to the funeral because of his life threatening injuries and also to see Clary, Chad’s sister and his ex sweetheart. Things are touch and go when they find out her brother was murdered and whoever did it is after Clary. Lots of action going on in this book and can’t wait for the next one to see where all this leads.
I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. Talon – SEALs of STEEL is book 4 of Ms. Dales newest series. I will state that it may help your understanding if you read SEALs of Honor and Heroes for Hire books in order to fully understand all the characters & nuances. For this book it’s not so critical to your understanding & enjoyment of the story; but, I think it does help. *spoilers*
This series is about a SEAL Team (8 men) who were on a “mission” in Afghanistan when they were “officially” diverted from the transport convoy they were traveling in & their truck ran over a land mine. The newest & youngest team member, “Mouse” was killed & the remaining Team members were horrifically & permanently maimed. During their recovery the Team members began to believe that the accident was not an accident & in fact they were targeted. This book concentrated on Talon & his ex-girlfriend Carly. Talon & Carly reunite because as the remaining SEAL Team members are investigating their “accident”, they realize the conspiracy is worse than they could believe. Close friends & family members of the surviving SEALs are dying in “accidents”.
Talon returns to his hometown of San Diego because his best friend & Carly’s twin brother had died the year before in what had been thought to be a hit-and-run accident. Once the Team discovered their loved ones deaths were not accidental, but murders he realized that his former lover was in danger. The series so far has been suspenseful & surprisingly put together well without being ridiculous or boring. I think the majority of readers will enjoy this series without feeling as if is too dark. I did feel as if the “ending” could’ve used another chapter or so; I also understand that this is an ongoing & evolving mystery set to stretch through this entire series. So, I don’t feel as if it detracted from the story so much as I “felt” it could use a bit more polish.
I am really looking forward to see how this series will evolve; this mystery/suspense type of book is a slight deviation from the authors typical warrior finds love in her SEALs of Honor & Heroes for Hire series. Of course I must also mention Ms. Dale’s Psychic Visions series (my personal favorite of all her books & a must read!) I will say that Ms. Dale’s books never disappoint & are always a fast & enjoyable read!

On the list of loved ones who’ve been targeted by a mysterious person who is suspected of hiring killers to inflict maximum pain on the seven survivors, there are no family connections for Talon, who never knew his birth parents and grew up in foster care. He did, however, lose his best friend, Chad, in a parking lot hit-and-run several months after the truck explosion. Chad’s sister, Clary, was Talon’s high school sweetheart, but they separated when he joined the Navy, as she forced him to chose between the military and her. Talon, who had been fighting for his life in the hospital at that time, was unable to attend Chad’s funeral. He now heads to San Diego to see Clary, who is newly-divorced, and let her know what happened to her brother. Given the history between Talon and Clary, Laszlo volunteers to travel with him. As they investigate Chad’s activities prior to his death, there is confirmation that it’s related to the others. Clary is attacked and has a brief encounter with Monkeyman. Who is this guy?
