Scars from the past haunt young widow Abigail Ames as she seeks healing for herself and her young son in Tallulah Cove. Two years after dipping her toes in the Tallulah sands, she’s finally celebrating all she’s accomplished toward building their secure new life. While she hopes to one day find a safe and stable man for a second chance at love, loss left her afraid of diving into the dating scene … scene just yet. So, at first glance she never expects safe and stable might just be the silver fox with the wary gaze sitting on the barstool next to her after a defunct girls’ night out. She could park an RV in the age gap between them. But one glance at him with the shadows in his eyes and silver at his temples, and her body wakes up to the idea of a fling with the older man.
Ben Davenport isn’t a man accustomed to running away, but relocating to Tallulah Cove to open a second branch of his business provides a good way to escape his haunted past and lingering ghosts of his decades-old mistake all under the guise of good business. No longer believing in his own happily ever after, he’s surprised by a chance encounter with a pretty brunette and the yearning she awakens with the delivery of the single most intriguing line ever. Opposites may attract, but it doesn’t mean they’re bound for forever. Still, she’s intrigued him just enough to upgrade them to intimate strangers and see what happens next.
Their growing attraction seems unstoppable, until the past revisits like a sucker punch ready to take at aim at their happiness, clip their wings of freedom from their tortured pasts, and send them retreating into the familiarity of their painful memories.

Tallulah Heartbeat has courage, candor and heart. Casey Hagen never misses the chance to state the obvious while shaking up the soul. Abigail and Ben are strangers that share a common goal. Hurt by life, scarred by heartache, starting over seems like a good idea. Single mother, Abigail has let tragedy rule her life for far too long. A fresh start has her finally finding her voice, just as fate steals away with her heart. Ben is her new beginning, but his demons could end their happily ever after before it even gets off the ground. Heart, heat and honesty make way for a compelling romance.
Ben is the hot as hell older guy who meets Abby, the younger mom of a 4 year old little boy.
Damn, their times together were so explosive and hot! I really did not want their story to end. These were great characters that grabbed me right from the start. I honestly loved everything about this book and could not put it down. I could definitely see myself reading this again and again
With Ben and Abby, the author has created a beautiful story about new beginnings and second chances in love.
About forgiveness not only for others, but also for oneself.
It’s also a story about love and finding inner peace and love.
The plot is engaging with complex characters you will fall in love with.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was a great older man/younger woman romance! Ben’s a hot older man and Abby is a young single mom. This story has great characters and a storyline that grabbed me from the start! I didn’t want it to end! There were secrets kept that when they come out cause problems for the couple. Will they be able to work through them or is it the end for them? I guess you’ll have to read it and find out! I hope you do! You’ll be glad you did!
This book delivers plenty of feels as this older man/younger woman story unfolds. I really liked Ben and Abby. Their attraction sizzled, their chemistry was steamy and their passion hot. Even with all the heat, there is also a steady dose of sweetness as these two wounded individuals find love. Abby’s son was very cute and helped create many heart melting moments. Drama, emotional turmoil and tension will make sure your atention stays focused. A simply terrific romance.
Abigail Ames still struggles with her feelings over the death of her husband. He was a good man and she loved him dearly. He was killed riding his motorcycle when a car did not see him and cut in front of him. Now she is left to raise their young son, Blake, along with help from her sister Kate. On a girls’ night out, she meets Ben Davenport, a handsome older man who is the first man to really get her attention since the death of her husband. He is in Tallulah Cove on business and is dealing with his own past issues. At the age of seventeen, Ben agreed to give his newborn son up for adoption…so that his son would have a better life. He knows Abby is too young for him, but his desire to be with her is strong. A wonderful, emotional story about a mother trying to move on with her young son and a man who still bears the regret of his past decision to give up his son and never have another child. When an unexpected request from his past surfaces, will he be able to make amends for his past and start a new life with Abby? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
This was such a sweet yet sizzling story. Ben is the hot older guy who is trapped by the mistakes his 17 year old past self made. Abby is a struggling widow with a four year old son. When the two meet in a bar, these wounded souls find a bond that they want to explore. Well written, this story grabbed me from the very first page, and carried me to the happy ending. A wonderful quick summer read.
Ben and Abby were a cute read from beginning to end. There were sad past events but they made up for it. Ben was older than Abby and was a bet hesitant while she didn’t see age. They were perfect together and complimented each other. Ben was carrying a burden from when he was 17 years old and 31 years later he’s able to live thanks to Abby. Great story with great characters.
